Ordered the Hawaiian pizza for pickup. Ordering was good. Found menu online. I was happy to see they are not pineapple haters as some of the local pizzerias are. They have several crust options, we chose the New Haven style thin crust. I like the tomato sauce, it tasted very fresh. The toppings were well spaced and there was enough, a bit too much cheese for me but I'm sure we could ask for light on that. Amazing A-Beetz in Downtown Derby! I put this up against the big boys! BYOB! We had a salad, it was huge, fed four of us with more to spare. Meatball appetizer, balls were soft, balls were tasty... Balls were delicious! We had a half meatball and cheese and a bolognese and ricotta (The Dolly). OMG! Toppings were fresh and the sauce was legit! Crust is out of this world. I'm not from the area but I found this place next to the highway and I'm glad I did. I think it might be new, but it was good and affordable. The pricing is to the whole dollar which I had assumed meant it was one of those relatively fancy places with smaller portions, so I ordered a small pizza and got a side of meatballs to make sure I would be full. Yes I was more than full, and I ended up sharing half of my pizza with the construction crew I was with. The pizza is a thin crust and the toppings were just right. The 2 meatballs were huge, tasted uniquely homemade, and came with plenty of sauce. I'm definitely going to plan on going here again next time I need food in the Derby area. read more

Bartone's Apizza is a newly opened Pizza restaurant and the establishment had a soft opening with just pizza and Calzones. The restaurant is still going through some renovations so the restaurant is not completely done. My kids and I decided to check it out since we love pizza. We ordered a large Pizza with half Pepperoni. The Pizza was delicious. Crispy edges, very flavorful, and the sauce was delicious. The large was definitely big enough for my kids and I and we couldn't even finish it. I think we found another place to get some great pizza. Large pies are really large. Was ok, base of pizza was crunchy due to the burnt cornmeal I believe. Got a bacon pie and it lacked bacon flavor which was weird. Sausage pie was good, could have used a little more on it but good. Cheese pie was good just a little salty. I wondered why I hadn't heard of this place, but it seems they haven't been in business for a full year yet. I saw that they are using "Apizza" in their name so i had to try it. To those who are calling the crust "burnt", you don't know what New Haven style Apizza is. It's supposed to be charred, thin, and have some crispiness. I love the big name Apizza places in and around New Haven. I ordered a large two-topping today from Bartone's (only $24.70) and it is truly a large 18-inch +pizza. It barely fit in the box. Aside from the quanity and great price, this place has perfectly nailed it on the charred crust and undercarriage that genuine Apizza is supposed to have. On top of the crust, everthing was very good. The cheese seems different than what other Apizza places use. It doesn't taste bad at all, just different than what's used in New Haven. I assume it's merely a different brand. Sauce/cheese ratio is on point. As someone else noted, there was a very mild saltiness to this pizza. I don't know if it's the dough, sauce, cheese, or the sausage, but it's not significant enough to be a deal-breaker for me. Perhaps it might be for others. Customer service was excellent. The young lady at the register was pleasant and my take-out order was completed within the time I was told. I'm interested to see what other Apizza fans think of this place. Don't compare it to Modern or Sally's, compare it to what's in the Valley. I think that with some minor improvements, this place could approach the level of the 2nd-tier Apizza places like Zuppardi's, Ernie's, and Roseland (not my own distinction, but there's a large consensus that Pepe, Sally's and Modern can't be rivaled. I disagree with this) Either way, I'll definitely return here. A solid 4-star pizzza (in the Valley) and I'm giving an extra star for the very polite staff. read more

A Good clean family run pizza place. Ordered takeout. Really liked the pepperoni calzone/stuffed bread. The pizza was very good. Good crust, I ordered it Light Baked, so it didn't have too much char. I support family run restaurants and are hoping they succeed. I will be coming back for sure. We had heard good things so was very excited to try this place out. The Pizza arrived nice and hot. But upon opening the box, family said it was burned. (The pizza bottoms). When I tried my slice, I was disappointed. I felt like there was no cheese taste because the strong and bitter tomato (Paste?) dominated. I had two pieces hoping it would get better but that did not happen. The crust was tough to chew. Afterwards because I did not have Tums, I had to drink a glass of eggnog to settle my stomach. I would not order a Pizza here again because it is a certain style that I am not used to. Maybe the other items on the Menu are great? This has become our absolute favorite pizza. Every pie we have ordered has been amazing. It's New Haven style pizza in Derby! Better than Zuppardi's and better than Pepe Pizza. On par with Sally's. Ordered a pepperoni, margarita and chicken buffalo small pies. Pepperoni was very good the margarita was ok to many tomatoes needed more fresh basil. Chicken was ok. Saw they had a dedicated gluten free oven and had to try. Wife who is GF got a bbq pulled pork pizza on a GF crust and I got a large sausage. Both were very very good and will definitely be adding them to my rotation of places to go to. Probably more than others with the dedicated GF oven. read more

My family and I had the prosciutto and arugula pie and a cheese pie also. The prosciutto/arugula pie was out of this world ....thin crust, prosciutto, arugula, and balsamic drizzled over it.
