This weekend seems to have been a pizza weekend for me! We have not had paradise pizza in a long long time, due to moving, and now I remember why we were regulars. The pepperoni pizza was very delicious! One of the better pizzas I have had in a while. It was a little oily compared to other places, but maybe that is what I am missing. Tried this place again but this time dined in. While the servers were friendly and fast and attentive, the food just didn't hit. The pizza was undercooked and greasy and the slices weren't fully cut. I know this type of pizza is greasy but this one was beyond. Even after sitting out for 10 minutes the slices still fell apart when you picked it up. The potato skins were burnt and needed scallions or something fresh. The highlight of my meal was the homemade dressing for my salad. I wouldn't do pizza here going further. The inside is super old and I can tell they don't want to remodel but they do need to replace the areas with water damage ceilings and ripped booths for a restaurant. read more

I went to "Paradise Pizza Restaurant" today for the first (and LAST) time. A more accurate name for this place would be "HELL Pizza Restaurant!" I am an amputee and in a wheelchair. I am a first-time (AND LAST-TIME) customer and spent over $48 for takeout, which included a large pie that I had to precariously balance on my one leg. So I asked the man behind the counter if he wouldn't mind pushing me across the street. He said "No, I'm alone." Yet, there was another man there behind the counter...so I asked him "Would you mind pushing me across the street?" He gave me the same response (No, I'm alone) (!!!???) NOW, NOTICE NEITHER of them said "WE'RE alone," It was only when asked INDIVIDUALLY "Can you push me across the street?" that the answer was "I'M alone." ...So I said "You're BOTH alone?!" I asked one man, then the other the same question: If there's another person, then how can YOU be alone AND how can HE be alone if YOU'RE here too??!! I asked if the waitress could push me, he said "No." (So, now "ALONE" is defined as...not 1, not 2, but 3??!!) If this is a family-run restaurant, where is the compassion...as a family??!! I've NEVER encountered such a callous disregard and outright refusal to my pleas for help. Indeed, EVERY establishment I've ever patronized, people would literally come running over to offer assistance...I didn't even HAVE to ask, let alone ask REPEATEDLY WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY GETTING REFUSED! It would have taken literally 10 SECONDS to push me across the street to the physical therapy clinic. It's not like it was a few blocks away, it was literally ACROSS the street; 3585 Main street. It's not like they're working at N.O.R.A.D. on 24-hour missile watch and they can't leave their posts!!!!! Ridiculous! ...not to mention downright SHAMEFUL!!! BTW, I noticed another reviewer said they were rude to her elderly mother. Add to that list...rude to the elderly And ZERO COMPASSION FOR THE HANDICAPPED!!!! Just to be thorough, I should review the food (though reviewing the food pales in importance to the way I was treated)... The pizza was not worth the effort it took to carry it home on my knee... ...First of all, it was BURNED [not "charred" like Pepe's but BURNED...there IS a difference] AND OVERCOOKED and EXTREMLY GREASY, especially on the bottom (the grease soaked through the thick cardboard lining between the pizza and the actual box). Other reviewers said the same thing. It was supposed to have eggplant on it...I didn't see ANY on the pie so I asked if they forgot it, he said "we put it in the bottom of the cheese." When I got home I found out why. There were MAYBE 2 tiny (approx. 1/4 inch squared) pieces of eggplant per slice under the cheese. No wonder they hide it under the cheese...so that you'd have to wait until it gets cold to peel off the cheese to look under to see that there's just the smallest hint of eggplant...so you can taste it and get the ILLUSION that there is an adequate amount. Most people would eat it before it has a chance to get cold. It just so happened it was cold by the time I got home so I thought "where is the eggplant?". The cheese in a word, lousy, its hard to describe, not like mozzarella but like some almost feta-like substance. The crust was unlike pizza dough/crust and more like regular white bread. Now, the eggplant sub (grinder): Very, VERY cheap with the eggplant here (just like the pizza, so I shouldn't be surprised)! very small amount...other places put so much eggplant you can't even close the roll...no problem closing the roll here! Next to the spanakopita: I would never have imagined that Greeks (who run a restaurant) could screw up spanakopita, but they did. The feta was like mushy cottage cheese both in "mouthfeel" (consistency) and flavor. But again, what supersedes the sub-par food is the way-beyond-sub-par treatment and lack of empathy and compassion for the handicapped. read more

Growing up in Stratford this was always a good spot, especially on some late nights. Went here on a Friday night wanting some Greek pizza. I really wanted to impress the wife but maybe it was an off-night but it really missed the spot. We started out with some potato skins, those were the star of meal. They were cooked beautifully with bacon underneath the mozzarella cheese, highly recommend those. My wife also got a side salad with some house made creamy Italian dressing, she really liked it. Now, onto the pizza. We opted for a large bacon pizza, fairly priced and is usually very good. But on this night it was off, it was almost as if they took the pizza out a few minutes too early as the cheese wasn't settled. I like the sauce Paradise uses but I was disappointed. Our server was very good however, attentive and quick. I won't give up on them, maybe next time I will have to ask for the pizza to be cooked well done. read more

I've been getting food here since a small cheese was under 5$. Yes I'm showing my age. I have moved around quite a bit over the years so this was my first time sitting on the bar side. Matt the bartender was great the original owners son was sitting in the corner it was funny bc I ordered desert and there was a interesting situation with the whipped cream but it was all good... they owner thought I was nuts although my childhood friend and the bartender concurred that the whip cream tasted different... must have been the bottom anyways I'm a foodie obviously I cater, bartending and have been in the industry over 20 years. My boyfriend picked this spot sort of on a whim after he was told the wait for Roseland Apizza had a two hour (!) wait. We got the large Paradise House special pizza, loaded with mushrooms, sausage, bacon, pepperoni and peppers. On a Friday night around 6pm, the wait was only 20 mins for pickup, score (there was a good crowd out when we picked up too). The pizza was awesome - I know Connecticut is known for their razor thin pizzas but this was a great change of pace. The crust was just thick enough to support all of the toppings and had a great taste. Will definitely have to try what else Paradise has to offer! read more

Good pizza and fairly good experience for a Friday night. We arrived around 6pm and got a table for 5 right away. The front of the restaurant was busy with tons of people waiting for takeout orders. The decor of the restaurant is dated but everything was clean. Our waitress was great...very attentive and joked around with us. We ordered a carafe of wine, which split between 3 people gave us each about 3 glasses. We decided on the Spartan pizza, the Mac and cheese pizza and the house special. They took about 30 min to come out...expected for a Friday. My favorite out of the three was the Spartan. I liked the gyro meat and the flavor of it. The mac and cheese was also good but very heavy. I liked how the Mac was baked under the cheese so it didn't fall out before you got a chance to eat it. The men loved the house special since it's loaded with meat (see pics for all three). Each large was $18.95, I believe (for the speciality pies). The one disappointment was they don't have the pizza stands like most pizza restaurants. So when the pizzas came out, it made our table very crowded. The five of us were not very comfortable trying to eat and make sure our pizza didn't end up on our laps. They should definitely invest in some stands. Overall, good pizza place. Not your typical CT thin crust pizza so I was a fan! read more

It's tough to rate a place that does everything right but that you may not be a major fan of simply because you prefer a different pizza style. Paradise Pizza is a lovely restaurant in Stratford Connecticut right in the center of town on the Stratford Green. It offers a lovely view when dining there as you can look right onto the Green. Very pretty. The food is quite good. Their main thing is pizza. The issue for me is that I am not a major fan of Greek style pizza. I prefer NYC Thin sliced. As a result, I am not a frequent customer. That being said I have to compliment this restaurant on their pizza toppings. If you like Greek style, It would be tough for me to think of anywhere better because their pizza IS tasty..very..and they do not skimp on toppings. Their bacon topping in particular is out of this world and begs to be tried! So many places do not know how to make good pizza toppings. Paradise does not have this issue. I also do not get to Stratford much which is my other reason for not coming here alot. I will also say they have other things besides pizza. Their great toppings and their lovely location put them above the pack for pizza restaurants. read more

I used to love Paradise Pizza. The place has gone down hill and fast. The service and food have gone downhill. They have messed up my order more than once but bc we try to support local we didn't complain and gave them another try. Tonight I ordered a Cobb salad with grilled Chicken, a calzone and Buffalo tenders. They do not have ranch dressing and their "homemade" creamy Italian is nothing to want... The chicken on my salad was So burnt and dry I couldn't eat a bite. Along with burnt bacon, brown Roman lettuce and one random Kalamata olives in the salad in error with a pit that almost Broke my tooth. Save your money and go else where. I am originally from Stratford, and this was always my go-to place. Tonight I ordered Angel hair pasta with bolognese sauce and 2 meat balls, and cavatelli with broccoli. The bolognese was marinara with some tasteless chopped meat. No wine, no soffritto, no dairy. Completely tasteless. The meatballs were mediocre at best. The cavatelli had no garlic flavor, and very little broccoli. Anna and Gus would be embarrassed. If this were my first time here, we would not come back.
