This place is absolutely AMAZING. If I am anywhere near it, I'll go out of my way to stop here. So much flavor, such fresh ingredients. BEST. FRIES. EVER. No lie- this place is

This is a winner of a location. Fun interior, fantastic specials menu, and amazing staff. We were road tripping and starving but also had dinner plans so we're on the fence about where to stop. When Hungry Bull Burger popped up in our search we decided we'd give it a go and split burgers to keep our lunch on the smaller end. The following is what a group of 4 purchased. We left satisfied and at just the right amount of full to not ruin our dinner plans. What we got: Clam chowder (special) - 5* phenomenal flavor! I could have ordered my own bowl but unfortunately was stuck stealing spoonfuls from my folks. Mac & cheese (plain, side) - 4* pretty good. I'm not a huge mac and cheese fan at restaurants, but my dad is so he wanted to try it. I loved the texture and cheesiness of the dish and wouldn't mind getting it again. They did have several m&c bowl options that looked good. Disco fries - 5* the gravy was delicious and the cayenne pepper added a great touch. Would highly recommend. Korean burger (special) - 5* oh my law was this gooooood!!!! Such great flavor! Really glad we got to try this. It was also very considerate of the servers to cut our hamburgers in half (we'd asked for extra plates because we were sharing burgers).

Hungry Bull is a small, cozy BYOB burger joint and for a Friday night at 6, it was almost full, which was a great sign. I love seeing a local business get that kind of support. The energy was casual, and it felt like the kind of place where word of mouth keeps people coming back. Food & Drink: My son got a plain cheeseburger with American cheese; nothing fancy, just what he likes, and he was happy, which says a lot. He said it was the "best burger ever" and that we "have to come back to this place". I originally ordered the turkey burger with a side salad instead of fries, but there was a mix-up and it came with fries (happy accident). When I mentioned it, the server brought the salad out too, which was fine. The salad itself was fresh, but the ranch was clearly bottled, so a few points off for that (sorry, I am a ranch snob). The turkey burger? The concept and flavors were great but the patty itself was just good, not great. I asked if it was made in-house, and it's not. That would have made it great. Next time, I'd definitely go for a classic beef burger instead. But the real winner? The fries. Give them a medal. Thick, twisted, almost looks like chip-style fries; crispy and golden and really well done. If you've been to Sicily in Middletown, they're very similar (minus the truffle oil- maybe an idea for the future?). Totally the kind of fries you crave later. Service: The server was super friendly and the vibe was relaxed. Even though my order got mixed up, they fixed it quickly. It didn't ruin the experience at all--mistakes happen, and they handled it well. This is a great local spot. Yummy food and BYOB, which is always a plus. I will go back for the fries alone, and next time I'll give one of their beef burgers a try. Solid casual dinner option, especially if you're in the area and want to support a small business!!!

Yup this place is worth the rating! The place is smaller but very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The burgers were sooo good! I got the Rt.10 and it was a delicious mess! My DH got the bull's eye and really liked it too. My kid custom made his burger but liked it. Let's talk about those sides!! We got the sweet potato fries app and shared it for our side.... WOW! AMAZING! Crispy and that maple drizzle was so yummy! My kid got the side of fries. VERY different but in a really great way. We will be going back for more!

THIS PLACE HAS THE FRENCH FRY GAME ON LOCKDOWN! Honestly the best fries I've had from any restaurant, just get them you'll understand. I've driven past this place many times and decided to stop in for lunch when they opened. Small little plaza located next to a liquor store as they have byob policy. Nice atmosphere, quiet and a straight view right into the kitchen. I ordered the hungry bull burger which is topped with brisket and onion rings, and I got sauces on the side, as most places tend to drench their burgers in them. Horseradish crema and a tangy heat BBQ. The BBQ complimented the burger and brisket nicely, but the crema seemed to get lost in it all, only adding a bit of a fatty taste to the burger which was definitely not needed! Great quality and tasty brisket, great quality burger blend and fantastic brioche bun tying everything together. Food was quick to come out and the one server on seemed to also be the chef, but was still very nice, friendly and accommodating. Only issue that I had was when I ordered a milkshake, which mind you is 8 dollars and comes in only one size. I received a plastic cup about 10oz, just ice cream and too much milk making it more not much more than cookies and cream milk. More shocked with the difference in quality more so than the price. Still fantastic and I suggest visiting if not only for the fries!

Hungry Bill Burger is part of a small two store plaza, the other of which is a liquor store. There are several parking spots in the front, and more in the back. The actual restaurant is decently cowboy-ish with wood paneled walls and tables. There are places to hang your coat in a back hallway across from the restrooms. There is a Coke machine and Pepsi for sale on to go orders. The chips are housemade, I believe, with a great crunch and non-greasey finish. The burger was a good size but nice cheese. I splurged on a chocolate milk shake, and it was thick and COLD. The star of the meal was the New England Clam Chowder, a special. It was a little looser then I liked, but the ingredients were fresh and present, with a twist on the seasoning. Very tasty! The waitress was also a delight and really organized.

This place has been open for almost 4 years and we had no clue it was here. The food is so good and so fresh. Top 5 best French fries I've ever had. The waitress was so nice and attentive. The restaurant was very clean! Cant wait to go back and try more!

Not only was the food delicious but the service was excellent. Unbelievable burger blend, milkshake was smooth and the disco fries slapped. This is a must try, I would even label it a destination spot for people who live more than 45 min away. I will definitely be back!

"Everybody's got a hungry heart Lay down your money and you play your part Everybody's got a hungry heart" (Bruce Springsteen) Today was one of the days that Yelp's 5 Star option wasn't enough. Why do I say that? Because today's combination of great food, reasonable pricing, and OUTSTANDING Customer Service merited ten stars. We had lunch at the Hungry Bull today, and shortly after we sat down, we had the pleasure of meeting Raj who brought out the menus along with his megawatt star power of a personality. He was plain old fantastic, and a real pleasure to interact with as we chatted throughout our meal on a variety of subjects. My wife and I both ordered a "Build Your Own' version of their 6-ounce chuck, brisket and short rib burger. The burgers were $9 each and we customized them with some of Hungry Bull's free toppings - Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce Tomato, Red Onion, Jalapenos and Bull Sauce, which is kind of like a Thousand Island Dressing. We told Raj we planned to split an order of Sweet Potato fries, and this is where his customer service went off the charts. He asked us if we had ever been here before, and when we said "no" he strongly suggested we try their regular fries because they were different and very popular. He was so persuasive (almost evangelical) about them that we accepted his recommendation and ordered the regular fries. He was 1,000% correct, those $4.50 fries were amazing. They looked like curved and very thick potato chips but weren't exactly potato chips. Yes, they were crunchy on the outside like chips, but soft in the middle like steak fries. They were unlike any French Fry we have ever had. And the order was plenty for us to share. And then there were the burgers. Big and juicy and flavorful on super fresh rolls with fresh toppings, well they were magnificent. We enjoyed the entire experience at the Hungry Bull, and I assure you that we did not leave hungry at all.

the churro filled with caramel was soooo good

The small restaurant was like a deli with several tables inside and a lovely outdoor patio that really elevated its overall atmosphere. We placed our order at the inside counter and grabbed a table outside. Throughout our visit, we experienced extremely pleasant and gracious service from Fina and a young man, both of whom were cooking and delivering the food. Though this caused things to move on the slower side, they really had their system down to a science, managing our meals and the several takeout orders that I saw being collected. The lunch menu had various salads, sandwiches, and burgers on offer. I selected the Chicken Gyro, which used a real grilled chicken breast that had been sliced, rather than those pre-cut strips that always seem to contain fillers. The chicken was a tad dry, but the homemade tzatziki sauce, which was heavily infused with dill, helped to add moisture to the sandwich. I had opted for a whole wheat wrap, rather than a pita, and I loved that they had lightly toasted the completed dish, even with its inclusion of romaine lettuce and diced tomatoes. That method gave the wrap an improved texture and a slight crunch. I sampled a few of my companion's fries, which were thin, crispy, and had a real rustic flavor that resembled potato skins. They were great! Fina's Kitchen was a real gem, hidden among an industrial area and catering to the local businesses. It was a great find!

Geez, this had to be the worst visit ever at Frankie's…read more Here the place was hopping, people were happy, was it me? Met a friend here for a quick bite to eat. My friend ordered a cheeseburger, the small one, with lettuce and tomato on it, along with I think a lemonade I took a chance on the special which was loaded french fries. Steak fries with cheese whiz, bacon bits, sour cream and a little bit of chives. I also ordered a Pepsi. The bill came to $22 and change for the two of us. Keep that in mind as I further write. The cheeseburger, the quarter pound one, included one little little slice of lettuce and a very thin slice of tomato. The beef on the cheeseburger looked gray, and pink inside like it wasn't even cooked up to temperature. This was absolutely gross, served on a non toasted Sesame seed roll. He thought it was awful. He ate half of it. Now for my loaded french fries.... The french fries were so soggy , that if they didn't look like french fries they could be mistaken for mashed potatoes, loaded with an extremely salty cheese whiz, and what looked like bacon bits instead of natural bacon on top, chives, and sour cream. It would've been nice if there was chili on this instead, but nope. For $7.99, the serving was extremely small, probably good for a six-year-old. Barely edible, I ate about a quarter of it and just pushed it aside saying I'm done. I can't even imagine the salt content that was in this. I know one thing for sure it was extremely high! This had to be one of the worst things I have ever been served in any restaurant. Stick to the hotdogs as they are safe For the money spent, we would've been better off going to Chili's.

Even the bathrooms were noticeably nice, particularly for such a fast-paced lunch spot. I had the Chicago Dog and the House Dog. We've been on the hunt for a good Chicago dog that's, you know... closer than Chicago, so I was glad to see one on the menu. It was quite good, but not what I expected based on the ones I remember from Chicago. This version leaned heavier on the relish and toppings, didn't have the bright green relish, and ended up a little messier overall. It did match exactly what the menu described, though, so that part's on me for not reading it more closely. All that micro-complaining aside, I'd get it again--though I may first try to work through the extensive menu a bit. There are some great options, and you should expect to struggle deciding (maybe check the menu in advance). The House Dog was delicious, but also pretty messy--definitely grab some napkins. Prices were a tiny bit higher than I'd expect for hot dogs, but the quality, presentation, and overall vibe seemed aligned with that. Overall, Riley's is a great option if you want a nicer sit-down hot dog experience with lots of choices and a comfortable atmosphere. I'd go back, especially to try more of the specialty dogs.

Greeted warmly by the server-cashier and possibly one of the owners. This place has counter service where you order there, pay for it, leave the tip, and then the server brings the food out to your table. I ordered the special fish sandwich and french fries. $16.95 And a can of Coca-Cola. My accountant ordered the cheeseburger, with ketchup and onion, and french fries. $15.95 He also ordered the lemonade iced tea. Within 10 minutes, the food arrived at our table. The fish sandwich was deep fried perfectly on a really nice soft roll with lettuce and tartar sauce. Unfortunately, the fish wasn't seasoned fully to my liking nor salted. Also, no lemon was on the side to squirt on the fish sandwich. The fish was lacking any flavor other than the tartar sauce. This was a big disappointment. The french fries were very good, but it was like a kid size portion for like a three-year-old. Come on now I'm paying $17, give me at least a handful of french fries. Not eight! My accountant who ordered the cheeseburger picked the winner. It was a thick well seasoned piece of beef cooked, medium rare, and he said it was delicious. He also received a ration portion of french fries. I paid a lot of money for two sandwiches, a little bit of french fries, and two drinks. I bet it was close to $43 with 20% tip. This was no bargain. The seating at the restaurant was OK. Our table top was loose and a little bit sticky. The restrooms were marginal. There flies flying around. So overall cleanliness was a little bit disappointing....come on now! I'm glad I got to try Carol's new place. If I come again, it's gonna be for the hotdog special and eat it outside.

I recently learned that Taste of Home recognized Carol's Lunch Box for the best hot dog in CT…read more That's pretty much an instant visit situation for me. Carol's has a small structure where they prepare the food, and there are some nearby picnic tables. Carol's uses bun length Martin Rosol's dogs, and I'm on record as a fan of Rosol's denser than typical hot dogs. Carol's fully steams the dogs, which distinguishes them from other top CT places. I can't say this way my favorite way to prepare a Rosol dog. I think at least partial grilling brings something extra to a dense dog like a Rosol. Carol's has some specialty dogs and build your own options. They're probably about average in terms of the number of topping options. I ordered a Reuben dog and a Chili Dog with mustard and onions. The kraut and chili are both above average for CT. I like that Carol's has the Thousand Island dressing to go with the kraut. That's pretty unique for hot dog spots. But Carol's super power may be the house spicy pepper relish. I didn't order this on my dog, but I met Carol. After hearing it was my first time, Carol offered me a sample of the House Relish. For me, the flavors are more well balanced than one of CT's famous pepper relishes. I was a big fan and I would probably get a dog with just the relish next time I visit. If you like to sample all the best CT hot dog contenders, add Carol's to your list. 4.25 Stars
