Stopped by Acme Burger in Middletown to try this newer spot and had a fantastic experience. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, greeting customers as they walked in and checking in at tables to make sure everything was good. Service was attentive and welcoming throughout. The restaurant was very clean, including a fresh and well-kept bathroom, which is always a plus. Ordering is easy thanks to a self-service kiosk with pictures, or you can order directly with a staff member if you prefer. I visited with my boys and really appreciated how family-friendly the place is. They have a kids menu, and my son even received two toys plus a coloring page with crayons, which was a nice touch. The menu is very inclusive, with burgers, fries, sides, ice cream, soups, and salads. They also offer turkey burgers, chicken options, and Beyond burger patties. You can really taste the freshness in the food. I had the ahi tuna with seared pineapple, wasabi mayo, and teriyaki glaze, served seared rare; it was mouthwatering, with perfectly balanced flavors and just the right kick from the wasabi. Parking is convenient but good to know: There's paid parking in front Monday-Friday from 10 AM-6 PM, free after that, and all day on Sunday. Excellent burgers! Ordered "medium" which was really tasty and juicy. We took advantage of the midday weekday $10.99 special - burger, fries, drink. Add-ons (cheese, onion) and substitutions (tots, sweet potato fries) are a little extra, but it is still easy for 2 to eat for about $35, including tip. Ordering from a kiosk took a little getting used to, but being able to order your burger *exactly* was great, and the friendly staff was happy to help. I had a great experience at Acme Burger, and the food truly exceeded my expectations. Tbh wouldn't even give it a star. Placed an order to only get charged, then a text saying it was canceled and I would be refunded within 3 days. Called the place about 20 times with no answer. Decided to go there because I feel like I am being robbed. Pull up and the general manager is hanging outside. I walk in with no welcome outside from the "general manager" to a very nice man who understands what I am saying and apologizes and says this has happened to a few people. He goes and gets the "general manager" who was like yeah it happened before a few times. As I am showing him my bank statement online he's like you ordered in Ca no dude I didn't it says Middletown ,Ct Ca is just the banks . I said I called over and over with no answer He picks up the phone plays with it and is like it must be off the hook. Funny he said the other people came inside the store too this has happened to. Pretty Pretty Good! We did some take-out from Door Dash here last weekend and had a positive experience. Lots of different and interesting burger options as well as the usual stuff. Lots of different bread and cheese options for your burger. I had the Schweid & Sons burger on sourdough and it was cooked to my liking. The fries and tater tots were well crispified and seasoned nicely. I really can't find any negatives in this place. They even have the Beyond Burgers too. 2 burgers and 2 fries cost about $37. When I went to pick it up, I was pretty surprised at the really cool atmosphere. The ambience is kinda a modern flair to a vintage vibe. The place seemed very clean and well cared for (although it is brand new). Service was very welcoming and grateful. The place is deceivingly large on the inside, and it even looks like they are getting ready to open a bar with it too. I'm excited to go back and try something else. The only snag is the typical downtown Middletown parking. Kinda a tough place to do take out sometimes, you've got to get lucky with a parking spot. read more

Took my son here after a trip to Kid City. We couldn't have had a better experience! The bartender/server, Michael, was very friendly, engaging, and he gave us a nice run down of the menu options. The service was above and beyond, it was clearly apparent that Michael had a talent and passion for hospitality. And the burgers were great! My son said it was a 10/10. Brand new spot in downtown Middletown. We were there the day after Thanksgiving and I have to say it was the best burger I have had in years! Sorry, we forgot to take pictures! First off the prices are reasonable. The basic Burger starts at $7.50 and comes on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomatoes and awesome sauce (kind of a thousand island dressing with a little kick). You can build up your Burger from there. I had cheddar bacon and mushrooms. The burgers are smashed with a caramelized exterior and just a touch of pink in the middle. Be careful eating them as they are juicy and will get all over your shirt when you bite into it. The wife had the "Connecticut hot chicken" sandwich. Nice size portion and a bargain for $10.25, it comes with a chipotle ranch dressing, sliced pickles and Cole slaw as well as the lettuce and tomato. We had an order of onion rings, beer battered and crispy, they were perfect. We also had the tater tots done Cajun style. They were nice and spicy, perfect with a side of ranch for dipping. Oh the other thing we loved is they don't nickel and dime you for extra sauces, refreshing especially these days when some restaurants charge you $2.00 each for extra sauces. The other nice thing is the homemade pickles and pickled vegetables, they are free as well and it makes total sense to eat some vinegar with the burgers and sides. We met the owner Christian who was handing out the food and working the dining room. Super friendly and he seemed to care what we thought about the food. We told him how much we enjoyed it and I hope they can keep up the good work. Middletown needs a great Burger joint. We used to frequent Wayback Burgers but they have gotten very expensive and their customer service is not what it used to be. Five Guys was never really that good either. Acme is a welcome change to the Middletown dining scene. We are going back this Thursday for dinner with the whole family!! read more

My husband and I have had this as take out a few times and it has been incredible every time. I do recommend going in person to place your order, everyone is so friendly and welcoming and they just got their beer and wine license so an excuse to enjoy a drink while you wait. It's a little bright in there but nothing some dimmers can't fix! The food has been 10/10! The turkey burger is amazing with caramelized onions and jalapeños and my husband always gets the acme burger with the works. Garlic fries are great and so are the tots and onion rings. This place is a staple and should start sponsoring local sports teams or schools. This would be a great way to get their name and food out there! Went on a Wednesday at noon, and we were very impressed with the friendliness and concern of the staff, and were even greeted by the owner! I am a burger fanatic and tend to be difficult to please, but the burger (added bleu cheese and carmelized onions) was out-of-this world delicious. Hubby had a fish sandwich on sourdough, and friend had a "standard" burger and all three of us were raving at the taste and quality of the food. Absolutely solid value for the price. Chocolate milkshake and chocolate malted were also superb, as were the sweet potato fries. We will definitely be back, and we'll bring friends and family! read more

Visiting CT and stopped in for Lunch, I had the Acme Burger Lunch Combo for $10.99, great fresh made Burger and super crispy fries and a Coke, can't beat that deal. Burger was amazing, staff was super friendly & accommodating, loved the ambiance with it's local character & charm of the place. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the entire experience, I would treat myself every week if I could, they have many choices on the menu. First time, don't think I'm coming back. Nice place in bad location....north end of main, all the crack heads yelling and tweaking . Went to website, no link to order via website, gotta go find a third party website on google, nor is there a telephone number on the menu page, not real convenient when this is a simple addition to most webpages. Had a double burger combo with shake and fries (shoestring) , burger was good, fries were cold and stale, not impressed at all with fries, shake was pretty good. Also had buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, it was fair, but nothing wow. Burger a 4.5, shake 3.5, chicken sandwich 3, fries 2. Kinda pricey for a gourmet burger that misses the mark. Also, when you order and they say ready in 15 but you get a text that it's done in 5, don't have any expectations that your customers will have hot food. Should ask when you want your food done by, trust me, if you live within 5 min of this location, you can't afford to eat here. I give the place 2 years before it packs up. read more
