    Smash Melt
    Kelly P.

Love the whole place at Parkville market first off. Nestled inside there, is meltdown grill. They have really good sandwiches and burger combinations. I got the Smash melt and a side of Mac and cheese. The melt was Savory with gooey cheese, and a rich flavorful sauce. The Mac and cheese was good, but just basic. I'll definitely be getting them again.

The Meltdown Grill is the perfect place for a guilty pleasure cheeseburger. They are huge, hot, and cheesey. They are located in Parkville Market, and you can see the food being made after you order. You do have to wait by the window for when they call your order, which sometimes is superceded by a Doordash or UberEats. But the food comes out in a reasonable time, you don't have to worry about anything being undercooked! I could think of no better place for warm comfort meal, especially on a rainy day. If you get toppings, like Mac and cheese, grab a fork because the hamburger patty is pretty considerable.

They have a lot of large portion food options , would like to try their hot dogs at some point. I tried the Philly Cheesesteak and thought it was relatively low quality, particularly for the price of $18. The cheese was soupy and melting off, bun tasted similar to McDonalds. Service was quick. Parkville in general is a good atmosphere with lots of things to try.

    Triple Cheese Steak & Cheese

Visited Parkville Market in Hartford CT and Meltdown Grill caught my attention. I tried the triple cheese steak & cheese from there which i recommend getting if you really like alot of extra cheese on your steak & cheese's. Although it is on the higher side price wise around $18, the quality of the food was good and the service was excellent. Ony had to wait about 10 minutes for my meal. If you havent checked out Parkville Market in Hartford CT I definitely recommend it. They have many other food options and the atmosphere in there is always lively.

    King Kobe Reuben Dog

I tried the King Kobe Reuben Dog to try and step outside of my comfort zone... Well.. it was delish!!! I can't speak highly enough. It didn't have a thousand island dressing and there was so much flavor that it didn't need it in the LEAST! The bun was fresh and yummy -- a potato bun. The corned beef was juicy and not overdone or too greasy... just flavorful. The cheese crisps (there were three) were off to the side and crunchy. They seemed fresh and maybe homemade. I ate this hotdog in like 4 or 5 bites and I wish that I would've taken smaller bites... but I couldn't help myself. Ate almost all of those curly fries too!! Then I called it a day!

    Look at them hot-diggity dogs.

I was back in Connecticut in December visiting friends and family when I ended up at the Parkville Market in Hartford for some lunch. This was my second time at the market so it was my job to give another one of the vendors a try and that vendor was the Meltdown Grill this time around. This place has a stacked menu of hot dogs, cheesesteaks, melts, and burgers with an insane amount of options for all of the above. I was feeling a little feisty and self deprecating, so I ended up order the two hot dog combo with curly fries and it was a decision I would reflect on for months to come. For hot dogs, I ended up ordering the Mac Attack (Macaroni & Cheese + Bacon) and the chili cheese dog (self explanatory). Both hot dogs were absolutely delicious and everything I could possibly want out of a hot dog afternoon (some days just need to be hot dog afternoons). The curly fries rounded out a pretty good lunch and were exactly what I was craving, very very good food. Overall, Meltdown Grill is a wonderful addition to the Parkville Market and I very much look forward to trying a burger from here on a future visit to Connecticut. Hungry? Get over here and dig in.

Parking: you might miss the entrance but it is on the left side of the building and marked for the marketplace but not specific restaurants since there are a ton in this one location. When you pull around the back, there is a HUGE parking lot with an overflow section as well. Decor: Not Applicable as they are in a marketplace foodcourt type set up with bench seating down the center of the location. If you had to say, it would be a converted factory look with exposed beams. Also a very large outdoor seating area as well. Staff: Very friend and fun to place orders, the guys on the grill are hard workers turning out fresh hot food very quickly. Food: Mostly unique grinders and hot dogs, I had the chili cheese and it was very good...get extra napkins. Also side note, the deep fried Orie's are AMAZING!!! Price: About average for what you would expect. Overall: Great place to bring the kids or take a break from work and get a quick bite to eat.

I am in Hartford today and thought I'd checkout one of the great restaurants I'm always seeing on Yelp. This place lived up to its stars! Excellent burger. I tried the sunrise burger with the fried egg on top. It was juicy, flavorful and hearty. The curly fries weren't awesome- but that's not why I came. I actually had a hard time finding this place. I didn't realize what the market was- it's a space full of different food counters- like a in mall food court-but leveled up. The middle of the space is full of picnic tables and there's seating outside in a courtyard as well. There's no signage outside or on the street to tell you where the restaurant is you're looking for. But once you park and walk over to the market there's signage. Several of the restaurants inside look really good- but the place with a line was Meltdown Grill. It's an unusual place in an unusual area- driving through here I would have never thought good food could be found nearby. The buildings are industrial and it's near a freeway overpass. But good it is! It's worth the drive and a nice surprise. Now if they'd just serve Coke instead of Pepsi.....

I've brought countless people from friends to parents to in-laws to Plan B and everyone likes it. Yesterday I scarfed up a custom double smash burger to which I added the blue cheese sauce (tasty) with a big side of disco tots. My wife had the MOAB (mother of all burgers/big Mac knockoff) with the hand cut fries. Those fries were REALLY GOOD, I might have to switch from my beloved tots next time. There's just a few downsides I would like to share-they could really use one of those heater things by the front door, that keeps the cold air out. If you're not sitting in the bar, but at a booth on the left side, you will get a blast of cold air whenever someone enters or exits the joint. Also, I saw at least 3 Uber Eats types waiting a long time to pick up delivery orders. They should speed that up if possible.

Anyway, an old work buddy & I met there yesterday and it occurred to me I hadn't ever reviewed (shame on me). Burgers: Amazing, some of the best around! Over time, the menu has diversified a bit and there's salads and vegetarian options as well. Lately, I've opted for the burger salad, but you can't go wrong choosing otherwise. Also, they always have an expansive draft beer list so it's fun to try new ones. They bring you a bowl of dill pickle slices to compliment the "burger" theme, but if I had one wish, it would be for Plan B to go back to the awesome pickle wedges from years ago. PS. There's ample outside seating for nice days :-)

(from the 1954 Broadway musical The Pajama Game) Steamed cheeseburgers seem to be a Connecticut thing, and Meriden, CT's Ted's Restaurant might be Ground Zero for the genre. It was established in 1959 and soon became a popular destination for Meriden's many factory workers who worked around the clock. Td's stayed open until 4 AM to accommodate them. Ted's doesn't fry their burgers in a pan or grill them on a grill. Nope - they steam them in a steel cabinet and serve them with a scoop of melted cheese and your choice of free toppings, like ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce tomato, chopped onions, pickles or even bacon. Their food truck is named "Steam Machine" and it was at Cheshire Craft Brewing today. In fact, it's there every Friday night and weekends. It can also be found at Hartford area attractions like Bushnell Park, the Xfinity Theatre, and at Pratt & Whitney Stadium for UConn Huskies football games. Our cheeseburgers were $8 each and they were great! I will defer to Yelper Keli R's epic description below: "Slathered high, drippy, messy, greasy with fresh vegies. It was a b*tch to eat and worth all the struggle". Yes, they sure were Keli.

This time I grabbed a wrap with BBQ chips and a Canada Dry Ginger Ale Cranberry; simple combo but it hit every time. Fresh, flavorful, and made just right. They offer halal options, burgers, sandwiches, salads, wraps, breakfast, smoothies... it doesn't matter what you're craving, they've probably got it. It's one of those spots where everyone in the group can find something. Consistent, quick, and reliable. The bagel was good but what I got wasn't what I ordered and I didn't realize until I left. Great spot to stop in when you're in a hurry. The prices are a bit higher than other convenience stores in the area.
