Greek Quiche with fruit.
Marjorie P.

Headed down to Cheshire to do some errands. 1st stop - breakfast. Paul's is a solid 4. Parking is in the rear, so that when we saw the restaurant from the street with no cars, it was a bit of a concern. However, around back - a full parking lot. There looked to be a few tables with umbrellas outside too. Inside, it was nice and comfortable. Looked like a place that large local groups gather too. The food was really good. I had something on the special menu - Greek Quiche made with feta, spinach, tomato & pepper. A side of fresh fruit came with it. My husband had his usual western omelette which he enjoyed. So - a nice, unexpected find.

My first time at Paul's Restaurant and it had everything I look for in a diner. They sever breakfast and lunch and have a large menu with specials. My bacon cheese omelette came packed with bacon and cheese. The home fries were one of the best I ever had. Well seasoned and crispy. The coffee came in a large mug not the small diner cup, and refills came without asking. Food came out quickly and hot. The restaurant was immaculate. Great service and the prices were very reasonable.

I went here for the first time on a very busy morning. We were sitting for approximately 5 minutes before the waitress came over to take our order and we hadn't even opened our menus yet. She proceeded to come over every 3 minutes until we finally felt pressured to order. I'm not sure if this is the normal way they do things or if it was just a busy day and they were trying to get people in and out. I would consider this a typical diner. They serve breakfast all day and many other lunch options also. My friends ordered a typical breakfast. Nothing spectacular but a good filling meal, but sadly the eggs were cold. I ordered a wrap with fries. The wrap was decent but the fries were undercooked. This restaurant is always busy so I'm not sure if it was just an off day or limited options in the neighborhood. On a positive note, they offered tons of options to choose from.

Decent diner to stop by for lunch. We were in town and came by on a Friday. It was pretty busy. I got the Mexican burger, and hubby got the Italian chicken panini. They were very filling and just what we needed for the day.

Enjoyed the Mexican eggs Benedict special. English muffins topped with avocado slices, chorizo, pico de gallo, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. The pico was extra lemony which was a nice compliment to the spice of the chorizo. Food was served quick and service was fast and friendly.

First timer. Great service. Lots of parking. Sign was hard to see from the road. I went with a standard breakfast, 2 eggs over hard, Sourdough toast, home fries with onions and a cup of coffee. Price without tax was $8.35. $11.00 out the door after tip. Kind of pricey. Picture below:

Great coffee and delicious salad (mesclun mix and other fresh ingredients!). The service was great and I sat at the "bar" area, they were polite and fastidious. I ordered a few things and sat for an hour, just enjoying my time. My only complaint is the Greek omelet doesn't have tomatoes, which took away from the flavor. Other than that, the feta cheese was delicious and everything tasted great!

Hands down should be 5 stars. Food is exceptional. The service is good. The restaurant has a large enough space to accommodate everyone.

First time coming to this bar and will have to say this is a hidden gem. Michaela was at the bar…read moreand she did an amazing job. She kept conversation going, was quick with the drinks and made sure we got our food order right before the kitchen closed. I came in not knowing the wings are on sale, so I opted in for the garlic Parmesan and the Nashville hot dry rub. These wings are definitely on my top 5 places to go for wings! They were full of meat, flavor and were very crispy! We also got the strawberry limeade which came with sour patch strawberries. I will definitely come back as the vibes were chill and the service was great

My sons and I are in search for hidden wing gems throughout the state. Yes, we love J.Tim's,…read moreappreciate the local flair of O-Joe's (both locations), and even admire the smoked wings in an around Torrington. Someone gave me the tip to try these as he thought they would "compete" with the aforementioned. For the first 5 min of my visit, I thought it might be the case. Here are the reasons to ABSOLUTELY GO!!!!! Even if a 30-45 min drive. 1) SERVICE - simply fantastic. Huge thanks to Destiny and the kitchen for making my experience great. 2) ATMOSPHERE - THIS IS the place I want to come to watch the games, for the long haul in the fall or playoff time! Great lighting. Music gives way to the game. Locals. Golf and bowling games. You name it. Fantastic. 3) THEIR BLUE CHEESE - unique. Delicious. Clearly house made. Makes the wing experience better. Here are the reasons I would only go if convenient: 1) THE FOOD - My chili to start only said beef chili on the menu. On first bite, there was a stinging salty taste of BACON. I have no problem eating bacon, but should say it on the menu for those who do not. And, that flavor profile is not what chili evokes. 2) THE WINGS - when the blue cheese and veggies came out, I was almost hyperventilating with excitement. The wings then came. Huge let down. Without going into the subtleties of the sauces, I'm more focused on deciding if they were frozen-pre-breaded wings or fresh wings with a salty/shake and bake coating on them. They're huge. They're crispy (kitchen is good). They're just not a traditional wing (should also say coated on the menu). 3) THEIR OIL - one of my wings was a delicious lemon pepper dry rub. So much promise. So crispy. Then, the flavor transfer hit. They must have fried fish on the menu. Same/old fry oil So my wings without a sauce (dry rub) tasted faintly of fried cod. Gross. I will go back. I liked the staff and feel enough. It could be fun. But it's not the hidden wing Mecca I will continue to search for. Service, feel, blue cheese earn all the stars.

The Sunny Side dish pictured usually comes with hollandaise sauce but I don't care for it so requested it not be added. My husband had a Meat Lover's omelette but started eating before I could snap a picture. He said it was very good. My daughter had the Californian subbing crispy tots for the sweet potatoes. One of her favorite dishes here. Love this place and will definitely return!

The aioli was delicious and went well with the tots. The sunny side comes with a hollandaise so I figured poached eggs would go best. The eggs were perfectly runny. My two complaints: I could have used a bit more hash browns under the eggs. I asked for a side of toast because there weren't enough potatoes to soak up the yolk with. The hollandaise has good flavor but arrives a bit watery and foamy. It also seems like they serve unsalted whipped butter? I could be wrong but my buttered toast was bland. Overall, I will definitely come again. The coffee was good, there are other dishes I want to try, and our server, Meikhi was so nice and attentive. He's very personable and matched the energy of each of his tables.

Overall experience wasn't the best but definitely worth another chance.

It was also well decorated for the Fall Season. There were a few employees that were visible at times, but they weren't organized in such a way to provide a typical lunch experience. The person who was working the bar also served as hostess and my server in the main eating area. So I waited a minute or so at the host stand to be greeted while she finished a drink. There was also hammering in the kitchen area for a decent part of my lunch. My server was very nice though and hustled to try to meet everyone's needs. I believe Ideal Tavern recently won the Southington Wing Fest. So I wanted to try the wings. I asked my server what the most popular wing flavors are and she didn't have an answer. I ordered the Sweet Chili Gorgonzola because it looked like the most interesting option. I also ordered an Ideal BLT Burger. The wings and burger were brought together, which I didn't ask for. That obviously defeats the purpose of ordering an app. The wings were meaty and had great texture. They were more glazed than sauced. I thought the Gorgonzola component would be more of a sauce but there were actual pieces of Gorgonzola cheese. The Gorgonzola was good quality. The burger was big and cooked to my requested medium rare. I didn't note any seasoning. The burger came with cheddar, which isn't the best melting cheese. You could tell they tried to melt the cheese, but the cheese broke off rather than stretched when I pulled at the side. The bacon seemed like it was probably high quality, possibly uncured bacon. The texture of it wasn't great for a burger. It was hard in parts and too difficult to chew. I also wish the LT part of the BLT had a bit more focus. I didn't think the Truffle Aioli worked for a BLT either. The fries had kind of a unique wide swoop cut style. I think Ideal Tavern could pay a bit more attention to the details of what makes a good customer experience. They have some good things to work with though. 3.75

Upon arriving we'd realized we'd eaten at this restaurant before (when it was in a different location) and eaten in this building before (when it was a different business). Caesar salad appetizer was excellent. Kids Mac and cheese was maybe one of the best Mac and cheeses we'd ever had, kids or not. And it was great as a pizza topping. My wife and I split a wagyu burger and The Craft Pie. The burger we believe we got someone else's, it was missing the espresso aioli and prosciutto jam. It wasn't until we finished it that we realized it was way different than we expected. The pizza was excellent however. I could have done without the pears but so many other flavors that were excellent, though the real winner was the sour cherries. I'd come back again just for this pizza.

A friend of mine and I went to Craft Kitchen for lunch on this Thursday…read more There was plenty of parking to the right of the restaurant, and the side entrance was right there. As I walked through the front doors, I noticed kegs alongside on the floor. This was kind of a turn off, kind of reminds me of a dive bar. So my mentality kicked in that we were going into a dive bar serving food. I kinda get the sketchy feeling. Once we were seated, and menus placed, we were served iced water A few minutes later, the server came back and took our order. My friend ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and some string french fries. I ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken, which came with two sides. I chose the rattlesnake beans and the creamy macaroni and cheese. Also include included was cornbread I originally wanted the street corn, as a side, but it was not available. Our lunches came quick, and my friend only ate half the french fries and cheeseburger, as she wasn't really turned on by them. The smoked chicken was fairly dry, with a very interesting smoked flavor to it that I can't put my finger on. I eat about 1/3 of it. Left the rest on the plate. The creamy macaroni and cheese was out of bounds top-notch. I could've eaten this all day. The rattlesnake rice and beans were just OK. The rice was cooked pretty good, and was seasoned well. The beans had a weird taste. Now thinking of this side dish, I was hoping for raw onions to be on top, but they were nowhere to be found. It'll be nice if there was chopped raw onions to go with this. The cornbread was delicious. I ate about half of it. It was a generous slice. While the server was fairly attentive, as she only checked in to fill the water glasses and ask how lunch was. She didn't ask us if we wanted a desert or coffee. Being old folks this would've been a great up for us, but it didn't happen. I had to ask for the check. I'm not sure if I would come back. I think this might be a one and done. The vibe just didn't hit it for me. Restrooms were clean. The restaurant was clean; the silverware clean. I don't know. It just was like a funky type layout and those beer kegs kinda sent the wrong tone to me as a guest. Lunch for the two of us was $40 and change and I left a $10 tip. We didn't have any cocktails or mock tails, we didn't have coffee or dessert either. From what I understand, the owner was near the exit when we left, not even a smile or a thank you for coming in...
