The best breakfast place in Enfield. I've eaten there many times. Mark the owner/cook. Makes the best food at the best prices

Cute location, basic diner grub Came here on a whim. Running out of breakfast spots so need to scour further out. This place came up a decent distance away, so I made the trek. Sole server was hospitable. Lots of items were unavailable when I tried to inquire about them. Drinks were self-serve, but they did deliver food. I opted for the stuffed French toast and tried their home fries to see how they prepped them. Food came out with a little wait. Took my pics and dug in. The French toast, they did try but it was not the best. Cream cheese was as advertised, sweetened and smeared lightly between lightly dipped bread pieces which were grilled on a griddle. Lots of blueberries and a few sliced strawberries. And some powered sugar for decoration. Taste-wise was okay, but was way too bready and not enough seasoning. If I were to advise on how to fix this, make a cream cheese filling with the cool whip and cream cheese, and make it a substantial layer of filling. Macerate the strawberries, and soak the bread a bit longer so the custard can seep in. The home fries were lightly seasoned, cooked through but lacking flavor. I like my home fries to have a bit of a sear to them with crispy browned bits. I also like them to be seasoned a little heavier, or else all you get is a bland potato. Pricing was about 18.50. So not bad for the dishes I ordered. Portion was right, just the quality was lacking. As a little local diner, it fits the bill just fine. You can get eggs and omelettes and the space is nice. Just know it's very basic and you'll be just fine. read more

Yes yes yes. Marks is a great hidden gem in Enfield CT. We stopped in, this tiny cute clean little place on a Friday. The owners are very nice, and made us feel welcome (including making us a fresh pot of coffee even tho it was the end of their day) we ordered an egg and cheese croissant, egg and cheese on homemade fresh English muffin bread and French toast with sweetened cream cheese and fresh fruit. And I was literally blown away by the simplicity but how amazing it was. The bread, made fresh by mark, was the best I've had. So flaky and toasty with such flavor. I will go back for the the bread at this point many times. The French toast was also very good. One of the best for the area. My roommate ate the entire thing, usually we have left overs. It's small, and opened wed-sun only (and apparently very busy on the weekends) but worth a trip for a simple fresh breakfast. read more

I tiny little spot in the heart of Thompsonville, it's cozy and seats only about 16 people. The menu a simple American fare type. It's nicely decorated with almost an Italian feel. Its serve yourself coffee ( in paper cups ), bottled water and can soda, something you don't see much. The food was just okay, a little underwhelming. I can see this spot being someplace that the neighborhood walks down to but not a place you go out of your way to visit. read more

A group of colleagues and I were looking for a quick bite to eat before heading to parent conferences. We found Marks immediately through a google search and especially on yelp. Their five star rating and one dollar sign immediately attracted us to this restaurant! When we arrived we were greeted by the friendly staff. It was really great to see my students popping in and out as well as it showed a great sense of community! Breakfast is served all day! This satisfied my craving for a breakfast sandwich and home fries! The bun used was simply perfect and homemade! The menu has basically everything from a meatloaf dinner entree to buffalo chicken wraps. Prices were so so reasonable as well! Just a warning for customers who pay with a card dining in- there is no option to put a tip on your receipt so bring cash! We felt so bad we couldn't tip because we all did not have any cash on us! The woman helping us was so nice though and said don't worry about it but she definitely deserved a large tip! We will definitely be back and will bring cash for tip next time! Really nice little restaurant. Service and food were excellent. My husband had the pancakes which, although they were not like regular pancakes he was used to, were delicious. Incredible service, incredible food! Within this residential neighborhood, Mark's definitely stands out. We walked in and were seated right away. The restaurant was very casual, cozy, cute, and was fairly empty on a Saturday morning. Between the three of us, we ordered the Philly omelette, the great start sandwich, and the stuffed french toast. Can I tell you that my mind was BLOWN when I tasted these dishes. The Philly omelette had beef that was perfectly seasoned along with onions and peppers, the great start sandwich was packed full of veggies and a fried egg, and the stuffed french toast had 3 layers with cream and fruit in between each layer. Each of these was made from scratch and I could tell because they had the homemade flavor. It also took a while for the food to arrive, but boy was it worth the wait. Sadly, I did not know Mark's existed until just recently, or I would have been enjoying the food here already. Alas, it is what it is. I know now. And what I know is YUM. My husband and I came in yesterday after a lunch attempt with friends didn't work out. Cut loose and on our own (and very hungry), we headed to Mark's to try it out. The place is easy to see when you're driving down Pleasant (like, all the way down). It's a lovely building, and the restaurant is so cute! There are pics on the wall in various places that show the "before" and "after"--and they took this place from deplorable to adorable for real! We were greeted & seated by Melissa, who welcomed us like family and even did a little "welcome dance." This is a woman who obviously loves her job, loves people, and loves to share the good vibes. All very welcome things to me. I had the Great Start Sandwich -- 2 fried eggs, sauteed baby spinach, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, and garlic aioli on lightly toasted marble rye bread. Oh. My. Goodness. The eggs were fried to tender perfection, to my delight, and the combination of subtle flavors goin' on...well, the sandwich lives up to its name! My husband had the french toast -- 3 slices of Texas toast, cut in half and dusted with powdered sugar -- and a side of sausage links (they do offer patties, too). He is all about the sugar and the meat, and he loooved his meal. Oh, both orders came with a generous side cup of homefries, also delicious. We split a soda, and our check was a mere $17. Amazing. I also feel compelled to mention the bathroom, since even the best places can have sketchy potties--and I'm a lady with a small bladder (I know I'm not the only one, right?). Anyhoo, it's one bathroom, but it is HUGE. Like, you could roll a wheelchair through it with ease (couple grab bar options, too). I wasn't in my wheelchair, but I could have been. And this stuff is nice to know! (It is also well-lit and actually clean. I wish more eatery bathrooms were like this.) So we loved Mark's and will be back for more breakfast. And lunch. And coffee. Love this place! It's very inviting from the outside and even more cozy on the in. Prices are fair, most of the food is homemade so it really doesn't get any fresher. I mean c'mon, they're even making their own breads/muffins, and their servers are the sweetest! What to order? So, I've been going in for their $5.00 1/4 lb. Chili Cheese Dog, it's the best I've had anywhere! I appreciate that they split the hot dog down the middle (so it really holds onto the chili nicely), and then they give it a good sear on either side, and put it between a buttery and crisp bun. The best part however, is definitely the chili. It's the hearty, stick to your bones type of chili with thick with chunks of beans and beef (not ground beef, actual chunks of beef, beef)! I also like to add a little freshly chopped onions, and it comes w/ a side of chips, but I'm not big on chips, so I opt for their coleslaw. Their coleslaw is exactly how I like it, it's not overly sweet, they don't add too much mayo either, and my hubby loves it on their BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich. We dined in for the first time about a month ago, and have been ordered something every week since. Definitely found a little gold nugget w/ this place. The neighborhood isn't the nicest or the best, but Mark's adds that little touch of class T-Ville is in desperate need of, hopefully others will follow suit down there! Really great restaurant! If I lived in Enfield, I'm sure I'd come here all the time. As it is, I'll do my best to stop here whenever I'm flying out of Bradley. It's a cute, welcoming little place, with enough atmosphere and decor to convey comfort without feeling kitschy. On a Thursday morning, there were no customers other than myself, but I'd hope that they get much busier towards weekends. The quiet wasn't entirely unwanted. From the menu, one sandwich stood out to me immediately: the "Great Start", with fried egg, baby spinach, roasted red pepper, tomato, and garlic aioli on toasted pumpernickel. My server - who could not have been friendlier and more considerate - informed me that there was also housemade corned beef hash, not listed on the menu. Didn't take me long to decide on my order. Excellent. The sandwich was as much of a standout as I'd hoped, a lovely combination of flavors (with *fresh* spinach - phew!), the garlic aioli being key. The hash was superb, and everything was sensibly portioned and reasonably priced; it's refreshing to go somewhere that doesn't load you up with a gluttonous mountain of food. Two constructive suggestions: real silverware instead of plastic would add some class, and, I daresay, do the place more justice... and let there be a line for a tip on your credit card slips! Hey folks--there's a newcomer in the Thomsponville, CT neighborhood, and how welcome Mark's Restaurant is. Mark and Kim fill a void for the niche between fast food and dining, keeping his menu varied (way more than fast food), and his prices high in value. The food is well-prepared, and presented with more flair than expected, and cheerully served, usually by Kim--very caring and personal. I tried the meatloaf on one visit and the chili on two others, where the toppings are added complimentary, and wow, and the taste is delicious. Really well done. My hubby has made this his go-to place when I am out of town on business, when he doesn't feel like making his Spanish tortilla for Sunday brunch, or, almost anytime he craves a steak burger, a chicken dinner (which I don't make), a BBQ pulled pork, or his fav--patty melt--for which I have nicknamed him a "fat magnate." However, thankfully, Mark's is high on flavor and not as high on fat as most eateries for this type of food. Much of the business is take-out, but there are a few tables if you enjoy dining in. Mark Dion has done a great job of restoring this building in Thompsonville, in his ongoing effort for blessing our community. (He also owns Cuts & Colors--also a great value, especially since Kaliah joined the team.) Thanks for our new breakfast-lunh-dinner place, Mark and Kim. We will be regulars. Such a cute place! Walked in for the first time and were welcomed by Melissa like we were family (along with a welcome dance! Haha!). For breakfast, coffee and tea is self serve, nice and easy! Hubby ordered the stuffed french toast with fruit and I had the Belgian waffle with a drizzle of raspberry compote and a side of sausage. Food was great! This is a team effort kind of place-- you could see the two waitresses helping with dishes, cutting up fruit, etc. They really take pride in their little place, which is why I was surprised that dishes and flatware were all plastic. Food is bland. Service is slow (seems like they're understaffed). I saw the high reviews here so that's what drew us to the place. When we got there the waitress told us to sit down at a table that had dirty dishes at it, so i stared at a plate of partially eaten food for the five minutes it then took to get the table cleaned up and give us menus. then they asked us to move to a different table so they could pack more people in the tiny seating area. after that it took about 10 minutes to get back to us and take out order, and then another 15 to actually get our order. I ordered the steak egg and cheese, it was pretty bland, no seasoning whatsoever, just roast beef, an overdone fried egg and a slice of cheese. My wife ordered the pancakes and they were nothing special, just homemade pancakes, without enough syrup. There was only one waitress doing everything so that explains why the service was slow, but the food wasn't even worth the wait, so, sorry, we're never going back here. read more

My boyfriend and I were greeted very friendly by the lady behind the counter. She told us we can sit down anywhere and she'll come take our orders. We sat at one table and she came, wiped down our table and took our order. The restaurant was very clean with cute interiors. It doesn't have much seating as it is a smaller restaurant so get there before or after rush hour! Food: I got the Ruben sandwich with potato salad and boyfriend got the patty melt with coleslaw. The Ruben was a bit more salty than I had expected but nonetheless delicious. Boyfriend's patty melt was my favorite. It was smaller than we had hoped (since my boyfriend eats like a monster) but it would've been the perfect size for me! The only thing I was saddened by was how small the potato salad and coleslaw were. It was placed in a plastic container, a little larger than the size of mouth rinse cups. Other than that, everything was amazing.. and it came out SUPER HOT. read more

First timers here me and my daughter. Found this place on Yelp while farting around. Arianna our waitress was pretty incredible. There were two regulars in there eating and they were wonderful to talk with. They filled us in on the history of the place which is pretty amazing. The place is spotless and the decor is perfect. I had a reuben and my daughter had Mac and cheese with the pulled pork. My sandwich was one of the best I've had or is, too close to call. My kids was fantastical, pulled pork was great and the Mac and cheese literally is the best I've had. Will be coming back multiple times I'm sure. read more

It's always nice to give the local places a try when in town and this one did not disappoint! I chose the ribeye special with over easy eggs, home fries, and the most delicious Texas toast. The ribeye was one of the most delectable steaks I've ever tasted, perfectly cut, juicy, and beautifully seasoned. Each table has an adorable little cactus snow globe on it, there are so many beautiful little touches all throughout the restaurant. Most importantly however the tables were very comfortable to sit at which I know can be a complete deal breaker. The coffee was delicious self serve, nice and strong. Both women working in the restaurant were warm and welcoming. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of food that was received. Whoever is cooking here really knows what they're doing. Me and my love moved to Enfield just a about a year ago and have been desperately looking for a family owned, food made with love kind of place to escape from all the typical corporate restaurants you find in Enfield. FINALLY came across this GEM tonight! We had "The Spin Dip Chicken" Spin you ask...... A hearty piece of Chicken simmered in Spinach Artichoke Dip w/ roasted red peppers on a toasted roll. Favorite breakfast place in town. My girlfriend and I love to stop here for a tasty breakfast on a day off, and we order their breakfast burritos to go all the time. The lunch food is also really good my girlfriend loves their specials whatever it is she's probably going to get it every time I get the chicken Parm alot it's really well made every time and a good portion size. They also make their own bread which I love, everything that I've had like their fresh made English muffins or kaiser rolls are always really good. We've had cake a few times too and every one we have tried was delicious Highly recommend anyone in Enfield try out Marks for a good meal at a nice local spot. read more

We came here because of other yelpers comments. The minute we walked in we knew we wanted to eat here. We were welcomed by the chef with smiles and she genuinely seemed happy we were there. Hard to decide but we chose some simple fare...steak burrito with eggs and avocado and a chili dog...there were so many to choose. The service was impeccable and just a fun place to go. And the chocolate cake.....oh my it is made there and it alone was worth the stop. Decadent with mocha and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Wish we could go again. You wont ne disappointed.
