After spending the weekend in Springfield, I stopped at the Country Diner for breakfast on Sunday morning. It was right down the street from my hotel, and I figured a good diner breakfast would be the perfect way to wrap up the trip. Apparently, everyone else had the same idea because the place was absolutely packed! Fortunately, I was able to grab a seat at the counter right away. One thing that really impressed me was the staff. Everyone was friendly, and sitting at the counter gave me a front-row seat to the operation. Watching them manage a packed dining room, seat customers, and keep everything moving was impressive. They clearly know what they're doing, and the whole process was remarkably efficient. As for breakfast, I ordered my usual: two eggs over hard, bacon, home fries, and white toast. Nothing fancy, but it's my go-to order and a pretty good way to judge a diner. Unfortunately, the food was a bit of a mixed bag. I like my eggs over hard, meaning the yolks are completely cooked but the whites aren't browned or tough. That's sometimes a difficult distinction to get across, and these eggs ended up browned and a little rubbery. Not terrible, but not how I prefer them. The home fries were made with red bliss potatoes and were cooked fine, but the seasoning wasn't really to my taste. They had a spice blend that I think included paprika, although I could be wrong. I know plenty of people enjoy their home fries prepared this way, but I'm more of an onions-and-potatoes kind of guy. Give me some nicely browned potatoes with plenty of onions, and I'm happy! The bacon, on the other hand, was really good. Nicely cooked and probably my favorite part of the meal. The toast was fine, although I don't think they used real butter, which is always a bit of a disappointment for me. Overall, the Country Diner left me with mixed feelings. The service was excellent, especially considering how busy they were, and I genuinely enjoyed watching such an efficient operation. The breakfast itself, however, was just okay. Some of that comes down to personal preferences, particularly with the home fries, but the eggs were definitely overcooked for my taste. I wouldn't hesitate to give the place another try, especially given the friendly staff and how well they handled the Sunday morning rush. I'd just be a little more specific about how I want my eggs cooked next time! read more

The Country Diner - Eggs, bacon, toast, home fries, coffee - Diners Near Me - Enfield, Connecticut

Recently stopped in for breakfast with a friend. Weekday, and surprisingly not busy. Seated quickly, given menus, and caffeinated. I had one of my standbys at TCD. ...Yukon Cornelius. Two eggs, toast, two hash brown patties, and 4 slices of thick cut bacon. My friend had her usual. Single fried egg on a hard roll (which she kicks up by bringing her own jalapenos). Food came out really fast, and met egggspectations. One tip - ask for the bacon to be well done (I forgot this time - my bad). Anyway, prices very reasonable, service efficient, food really good, with an abundance of choices. What more do you need? 4.5 stars read more

delicious huge breakfast, happy, experienced wait staff-and a local feel. We were in Enfield for an errand, coming from Western Mass. Very hungry around 12:30 as we missed breakfast, and wanted to eat good food (fast food) without a hassle. An order of three pancakes for the table. I had greek omelette. Huge, with a large portion of delicious home fries, and raisin bread. One friend the poached eggs, the other- I forgot, but we all loved it. Will come back again. read more

An excellent local spot I found while here for a meeting. I had the steak burrito and fried potatoes with coffee. It was excellent . Great portion for the money, came to the table quickly and was piping hot. Probably one of the best tasting home fries I've ever had. Staff was fast, professional and it was very busy so they are great. Make sure you tip them !!!!! read more

Fantastic diner! Hands down best diner in the area. Food is consistently high quality, portions are generous, and they serve breakfast all day. Definitely worth a try. We go frequently and when faced with trying a new place in lieu of Country Diner, we just can't do it! read more

Blown away. I want to start by saying thank you to the Town of Enfield for giving me a ten dollar gift card to come here as a moving into their town gift. Was very nice and in my neck of the woods unheard of. Came here today to get my butt out of the house and start my busy day with some breakfast. Smells like a true diner with that breakfast aroma throughout the room. I came in at the right time (8:15 ish Monday Morning) because the time I was being served my meal the place filled up! Don't think it would have mattered, the cooks were pushing food out as fast as they were taking the orders. Don't think it took more than five minutes to serve my farmer brown breakfast. Food was delicious. Make sure you ask for your bacon crispy if that is how you like it. All in all looking forward to coming back to try their lunch menu. Shout out to the staff this morning, you guys were hustling! read more

It was so busy! But the food was good. Personally I didn't like my waffle and felt it was too dense but other people in my party loved their meals. They all looked delicious. Service was fast despite our large group and how busy the morning was of course. The ambiance and vibe was quaint and homelike, I liked it a lot. read more

I don't do breakfast out much, but recently had some meetings in Enfield which were delayed due to flights inbound to Bradley. So my co-worker and I decided to eat here. We had a little bit of everything, pancakes, corn beef hash (excellent!), toast, sausage, eggs, bacon and coffee! Everything served quickly and with a smile. The staff here is friendly and service is top notch. I don't think my coffee cup was never full and hot. There are some fun treats at the register too! Cookies and brownies- which were devoured at our meeting! read more

The Country Diner - Half order of biscuits and gravy, their famous thick cut bacon, which is cut in house, and their western breakfast sandwich. - Diners Near Me - Enfield, Connecticut

Used to love this place, not anymore. Years back, went every weekend. Went in this morning got the Yukon Cornelius (2 eggs, potatoes, thick slab bacon, toast). Got my daughter a chocolate chip pancake and a flimsy side of bacon and a chocolate milk. $25 before tip Pretty steep. $4 for one pancake, $1 to add chocolate chips. Bacon was barely cooked. She didn't touch either item. Asked for my home fries deep fried... they surely were not. Have always ordered them there that way. The thick slab bacon was SO gross. There was like skin or fat or something nasty on half of the pieces I couldn't even eat it - I used to order it all the time there. Only thing that was good was the Italian toast which honestly you can't mess up. Many better options around, wouldn't waste my time. Food came out in like 3-4 minutes flat - fast is awesome, but that's too fast to me, something is off about that. It wasn't busy but I feel like they wanted us out of there urgently. Really weird. read more

Growing up in the NY & NJ area, one thing I know & love is a great diner, those gleaming buildings of neon & chrome where the food is great and the service is fast. Here in CT, true diners are few and far between. The Country Diner does not look like your typical Jersey diner, but don't let their appearance fool you, this is a great diner! Like most diners, breakfast is where they shine, brighter than the neon & chrome! the lunch fare is basic, but tasty. The prices are moderate and the service is great! As the locals know, it's worth a trip! read more

Our favorite breakfast spot! Delicious and some unusual tasty options! Bottomless coffee too.

Terrible. This diner has the mom and pop charm but that charm quickly goes away. The place is so dirty, bathroom covered in pee, the water tastes like chlorine, and the food is awful. And it's not cheap ever! I could go on.. I really want to love this local spot but they need to improve on everything . read more

They have undoubtedly the best bacon here. Have never had a better breakfast bacon anywhere else in the US. Coffee is ok, but hey... who cares! The bacon is on point. read more

I love Country Diner- I used to come every weekend with my group of friends. I love the weekly specials that they put out that have all kinds of fun and different twists on breakfast meals, so you don't run the risk of seeing the same menu every single week. 99% of the time, their food is so I am not rating them on my most recent experience. This specific special was... not good. The triple berry French toast was super sour and the strawberries were mushy- the French toast was soooo soggy it was hard to eat- I ended up picking off my boyfriends plate. Will be avoiding in the future. read more

Breakfast is one of my favorite meals out so I'm always afraid to try a new place once I've gotten used to a favorite place. However, my Entertainment Book app had a rapidly expiring buy one get one coupon so it was the perfect time to give it a shot. My sister ordered the hash which was really pretty good. I ordered an Italian sausage breakfast. Everything was cooked to our liking. Staff frequently came around to check on us and fill our mugs. Parking was a big tight outside because some of the parking lot belongs to other businesses. But we enjoyed it here and plan to return. read more

GROSS rotten old roast beef sandwich. Took a bite and had to spit it out in my napkin.... ICK never again.

The servers are wonderful and kind. They are attentive and good timing from ordering to receiving meal. The music is nice where it sets a diner vibe. Had me singing oldies. The food was cooked to perfection, exceeded to my expectations. I'd definitely would be returning and may be my go-to. read more

I ordered a classic corned beef reuben. Just as I expected delicious and tender. My favorite part about the country diner is the fries. Family run. Friendly and super breakfast. Standard shopping center look but cozy inside . Locals all there so you know it's good.

I have been here before and it is always crowded which is confusing becauae this is now my last visit. Order a western omelet, side of homefries and rye toast. Simple right? wrong, paper thin layer or "scrambled egg" with cold ham cubes and some sauteed onions and peppers, topped with gloppy cheddar cheese. Not a scrambled egg in my opinion, and the homefries were just brown potatoes, no crispy. I have had SO much better. Service was great as were the servers and staff, top notch but not good enough to make up for the lousy meal. This place has been around forever but the quality has slipped. Very dissappointed! read more
