Second time ever in Southwick. Visiting from North Carolina to see my old Navy buddy Ed. First time at the Gristmill. It was if I had been coming there every day since they opened. Donnie, the owner was the first person I met. Very welcoming. This is a great little spot to eat. Richelle was our main server, but everyone was just fantastic. The food was GREAT. I got the "Wick" breakfast sandwich. A little spicy, but it doesn't hit you right off the bat. It kinda creeps up on you, but it's not, as they say, "Wicked Hot." I would come here every day if I could, but 813 miles is a little far for a daily thing... It's a really nice place. read more

Four of us stopped in this morning... 3 sinners and Father Matthew from local Catholic church, Our Lady of the Lake, where we attended morning Mass. Smallish dining area, but they do their best to accommodate everyone. The food is downright amazing! The housemade CBH is in my top 5 all-time, and I've inhaled several tons from all over the country. My eggs over medium were perfectly cooked and my HFs were different. Real potatoes that spent time on the grill AND time in a fryer. Crunchy on the outside; soft and moist on the inside. And you can have them w onions and/or green peppers. Even the rye toast tasted really good. Service was excellent. I counted 6 young ladies working the tables and grill. Our server, Karesa, was awesome. Can't say enough good things about her. Of course, it was a full house! beautiful family oriented classic American restaurant. I came with some regulars and they have been raving about this breakfast spot all morning. we were seated immediately, had our order taken quickly. The food was hot, Norman Rockwell quality presentation and taste! If you see the photos of the breakfast dishes on their facebook page, it'll make you excited to get in here. the food looks even better in person! So amazingly delicious and the hash browns were crispy, hot and golden brown. I think I am in love with the chef! read more

This place is a great little lunch/breakfast spot. It's a little hole in the wall with super nice and friendly staff and the breakfast specials on the weekends are worth the wait (if it's busy). Our second favorite dish is the Wick Breakfast! Would definitely recommend. read more

Amazing experience from start to finish. We arrived around 10am on a Sunday with a party of 8 including a toddler and baby, not sure what to expect. We walked in to a full space and went right back outside to decide if we wanted to wait on a table. Straight away, we were told they would make a space to fit our whole party together and that it wouldn't be a long wait. Within 5 minutes we were seated more than comfortably! It was cozy and warm inside, with staff who were clearly comfortable and knew what they were doing. Our food came out with little wait, and even the pickiest of eaters among us had something they loved. The hash was the best I've had locally hands down, the wick sauce was spicy and delicious, everything was cooked to perfection...if you're in the area and looking for the best breakfast around- look no further. read more

I'm not sure how many good things I can say about this place. It's not very big , but certainly worth the short wait. We sat at the counter and got a full view of the guy cooking on the grill. A well oiled machine and quite a talented grill master. He had many plates going and all to perfection. The food is great! The ham is right off the bone. Delicious! The service also great. Had lunch here today, the place was full but still had 1-2 tables free at any given time. The wait staff is so friendly and I'm pretty sure the owner is on site--he greeted us to make sure our food is good. I had a BLT sandwich with fries, they gave generous portions and tasted very "down home" diner style which I like. The decor is warm and inviting. My phone died so I only got pics of the interior and not the food but they serve all-American classic breakfast dishes and a sandwich/soup/salad lunch. The place was packed with locals chatting and hugging the entire time. Lovely place in a town that really needs a cafe like this. Will be back for breakfast next time! read more

My wife brought me here because she and my daughter had such a great breakfast a few days prior. I ordered the "Wick" and it tasted great! The sauce adds some spice to the dish so if you're not into that ask for it on the side, just dab a bit on, you'll be glad you did. It's a great "kitchen sink" type dish. Where do I start... the Gristmill Cafe is by far my favorite place to eat in town. Warm and friendly atmosphere and customer service, incredible menu items and special dishes that will delight the soul, and of course, always excellent coffee. Michelle, Donnie, and the staff do an amazing job and always make people feel special! Pancakes here are legendary too and HUGE. A personal favorite dish of mine that they have sometimes is the Ranch Hand Benny. Cornbread, bacon, a thick tomato slice, two poached eggs, all topped with a cheddar hollandaise. GAHH!!!! Seriously, try this place, you won't regret it. read more

Trekked here for a weekend breakfast since I've been craving bacon and eggs. We were not disappointed. Newly opened and nice to see many people trying it. Coffee is weak for my taste, rye toast was very fresh, eggs and bacon done to perfection. It'll be a great local place for that end of town. I read up on this place and heard it was good. While on vacation I decided to give it a try. I have now been twice since. It's a no frills breakfast joint with some signature dishes. I stayed basic with my breakfast choices but the food and service is great, portions are excellent and it's priced right. A breakfast sandwich and a coffee will cost you less than Dunkin Donuts and the quality is far better. Bacon and ham are both sliced when you order. A nice little gem in the center of Southwick! read more

My wife and I stopped in on Saturday, 9/14/19 for breakfast. I ordered a Apple Fritter French Toast and my wife had a Mushroom Omelet. The food was so awesome and was totally gourmet. My french toast was a special and a first for the chef and it was Out of This World. The owners and staff are the best and make you feel like your part of their family. The prices are great and from my experience you will be Happy you stopped in. My wife and I will be coming back for more for sure. If you stop in you will not be disappointed. read more

I have an office, 'New Ears Affordable Hearing Care" in the same plaza, and I've eaten at the Cafe a dozen times. Michelle, the chef, makes everything homemade - especially tasty are her soups. Food and service here were fantastic. The place is a bit small, hard to maneuver between the tables, both for the servers and the customers. We absolutely loved the breakfast! Portions were generous, and price very reasonable. My husband had the scrambled eggs, toast, breakfast potatoes and sausage. All very good, fresh and nicely cooked. I had the special - Bananas Foster Crepes, freshly flambeed in the open kitchen. HOLY COW were these good! 2 cream cheese crepes covered in bananas foster sauce and whipped cream on the side.
