This farm is definitely one of my favorites. They are a farm store, bakery, kitchen, and orchard. There is a vineyard and seasonal pick your own flowers farm onsite. I stopped in their farm bakery and was delighted with the offerings. They had pumpkin whoopie pies, frozen pies, soups, and more. The pumpkin whoopie pies were the best I've ever had. My husband agrees and he's a whoopie pie connoisseur. If you love farms, farm stands, and supporting local businesses, I highly recommend. read more

We had lunch on a Sunday, there was no wait, and we got a nice table with a view of the orchard. It felt like such a nice, family owned business. The food was great too! The paninis are tasty, and I tried one of their specials- a beet and peach salad! Very good. I love that they have specials catered to what is in season there. It took us just over 4 years before a return visit was made and we found business on a Saturday morning to be bustling. We took an inside table and reviewed both the regular and the day's specials menu before deciding on one of the 2 quiches offered. In our case one featuring red pepper, spinach, onion and feta. It seemed to take a long time for them to be served, but we amused ourselves by petting a couple of the farmhouse cats. We also noted almost everyone else had ordered either paninis or sandwiches and most departed with leftovers. When our quiches finally arrived each was accompanied by two slivers of orange. The quiches were disappointing, not only by the muted flavors, but their dryness as well. My wife's request for a 2nd coffee was never filled so after patiently waiting several minutes I took to waving when our server passed by and cancelled the order while requesting the check. Payment was made at the kitchen counter where we purchased a pair of scones for the next day's breakfast. I stopped by the Lost Acres Orchard the other day because I was in the mood to be outside on this crisp fall morning. This is such a beautiful place, the land is filled with apple trees. They currently aren't allowing visitors to pick the apples on their own, but you can buy the pre picked bags of their apples. That kind of takes the fun out of the experience of going to an orchard. I stopped by at around lunch time. They have their outside balcony if you will, which can only seat a small group of guests. It's so beautiful here, on a sunny day in the fall. You can see the apple trees, hear the birds chirping and have a relaxing start to your day! I got a coffee, that's it. There's no flavors, no iced coffee, no latte or cappuccino, just coffee. And it was delicious, strong and tasty! I also got a bowl of yogurt topped with apple crisp and granola. They have all kinds of desserts that they make with all their apples. This was light, and sweet just enough with the apple and the granola. Yum! I truly enjoyed my time at the Lost Acres Orchard, it is such a beautiful place, it feels like you're in their home. However, if they allowed pick your own apples, this would easily be a five star review. read more

What a cool spot! My family who was visiting from HI and FL (but also has family in CT) suggested a rainy Sunday meet up around noon at this orchard. Naturally, I looked this joint up on Yelp, Facebook and elsewhere. I was excited as the food and baked goods really sounded special. Lost Acres accompanied our party of 13 easily and Jackson took great care of us. I will say, our group was having a little reunion and he did a great job of wrangling us into ordering great food and non-alcoholic beverages (iced tea, lemonade). To say he was patient would be an understatement. He even entertained us with the names and relations of the various cute cats around the building, and took some nice group pics of us. I had the grilled cheese with tomato soup and it was excellent, perfect for a rainy day. Many of the folks in my party opted for this choice. My wife had a turkey, stuffing, cranberry, cheese panini, that she devoured. The little ones had a freshly made cheese pizza and the other adults had various sandwiches. They did provide a dessert menu that was really sweet sounding. I wish I snapped a pic but it had a blueberry sundae with maple whipped cream, apple crisp, homemade ice cream sandwich and at least 10 other items. I bought an apple dumpling/blossom and an raspberry oat square (no nuts, a must for me) but haven't tried them yet. In summary: Cool spot-I imagine they'd be slamming if it wasn't rainy. Friendly people, the kitchen staff was kind, curious as to where we were from, and also told me that the amazing smell inside was (currently) granola. Quality food, nary a complaint from our group. The parking lot was full when we arrived but there was plenty of room in the orchard - it didn't feel overwhelmingly busy like you tend to see at other orchards this time of year. A decent-sized area was roped off for picking. Coming with small children, it was nice that it was a very short walk to the trees. We picked three bags of McIntosh apples ($8 for the small bag I believe) and some weren't picture perfect - brown spots, but I believe the spots are only cosmetic. Inside we grabbed some blackberry jelly, rosemary bread and cider. There were a nice selection of pies, other baked goods and some soup in the fridge. Looks like it would be awesome to enjoy a meal with a view of the orchard - some were doing that and it looked very relaxing. Next time! The staff were friendly. I would go back - I liked that it didn't feel crowded and McIntosh are my favorite. read more

Little bit of nirvana at a lovely location. The bakery (and store) are amazing. As is the wonderful restaurant. Place is immaculate, bucolic, and THE FOOD is the real deal . We buy fresh and also stock up on their frozen items - Shepard's pie, Mac & Cheese, Pot Pies. Apple dumplings as well as all their pies, muffins, and sweets & pastry are out of this world. This was a charming place. We stopped in after a wine tasting down the road. This is a very small eatery with homemade breads and quiche, etc. I ordered the curry carrot soup and it was delicious. We ate on the wrap around porch. Servers were super friendly. The homemade pies at the counter looked to die for but I showed some self restraint. With a bit of time on our hands before Lost Acres Vineyard's tasting room opened, this past Saturday, my husband and I traveled about a mile down the road to check out Lost Acres Orchard. Best known around as a pick your own apple orchard, they also grow and sell peaches during the summer (although they are not pick your own). Unfortunately we did not come at a time of year when either was available for picking or purchase, but we were able to visit their farm stand that sells a variety of not only canned fruits and vegetables, jams, maple syrup but a bakery case containing a varying array of freshly baked breads and desserts. Picked up some apple butter and pickled asparagus both of which are sitting in my kitchen waiting to be opened. Both the orchard and farm stand have been around for many, many years but over the last year, Lost Acres Orchard has expanded and now includes a small restaurant open air restaurant. Their monthly changing "Porch Menu" includes a variety of salad, sandwich, soup and snack options all of which are served with a garnish of fresh fruit, a great alternative to the standard potato chip option normally offered. We had already eaten but could not, after perusing the mouth watering pies and dessert bars, purchase something "for the road". I got a piece of Strawberry Rhubarb Coffee Cake and my husband get some type of pecan bar. I cannot speak of the pecan bar as it "disappeared" before I had a chance to ask, but the Strawberry Rhubarb Coffee Cake was delightful. A moist cake with hunks of rhubarb and a brown sugar topping that balanced the flavor of the rhubarb, it gave me the pick me up I needed later that afternoon. I wish we would have known about Lost Acres Orchard and their "Porch Menu" prior to coming, but for those in the area it's a great place to stop and pick up a picnic lunch for those on their way to Lost Acres Vineyard or even stop in, relax and have a bite while admiring the views of the orchard. read more

Friends told us the food was great and we were not disappointed. The smells of the bakery and the beautiful ride are worth the trip. The food was very good. Two chicken pot pies, a chicken salad and my bacon and onion frittata made the grade. Dessert (a must) was apple crisp (served warm) with ice cream (add on for $2.00) and bourbon pecan pie (also heated). All exceptional and well made. Sorry we waited so long to come here because the porch is not heated and this was a blustery cold day. However, their reputation must be good because six other tables were "chilling"with us. The hot cider helped! Four stars only because space heaters would have been a nice. Will be back in warmer weather. read more

This is a delightful little place that I was so charmed with that I started writing a review even before we left the driveway! I had the half and half massaged citrus kale salad and the farmhouse ham and Swiss sandwich. The sandwich had the farms apple butter and zucchini pickles on it and it was such a yummy little touch. The staff is awesome, the selection of baked goods is awesome, the food menu is fairly extensive for a nice lunch. My blueberry pie has disappeared ( Yep, the whole pie ). A little disappointed as I prefer a sweeter version. The crust is not flaky, it's denser and requires chewing, but filled with large whole berries. It's a "different blueberry pie". I've lived in Granby for more than 10 years and just had my first lunch on the Lost Acres front porch. Shame on me for not having come her more often. Lost Acres is primarily an apple orchard off or RT 189 north of Granby but the owners have catered for years. Each day, they bake quiches, pies, cookies and other sweets - you literally walk into the Orchard store and watch as the ladies bake and take in the aromas of breads and pies in the oven. I don't know how long the porch has been open but they now serve lunch there on weekdays (I don't believe that they serve lunch on the weekends and leave the porch open for customers eating pies/cakes/cookies) If you are in the area on a weekday afternoon in the fall and want to wind back the clock and eat a home cooked meal - this is the place. We sat outside next to the Apple Orchard on a perfect afternoon. I ordered the caprese panini with pesto on homemade bread - very good. Bonus was that in place of chips, it came with a side of fresh peaches. When does this ever happen? Washed it down with Iced Tea from a mason jar - classic. My wife had the special which consisted of a cup of butternut squash soup, fresh tomatoes lightly dressed accompanies by homemade bread and a giant bowl of fresh picked peaches. Of course she could not eat it all and I was delighted to share in the fruit. Even though we were full, we knew we had to try the Bourbon pecan pie with Granville Scoop vanilla ice cream - a perfect finish. The owners and staff are friendly and welcoming. I think this orchard is fine.. nothing special. I much prefer others in the area. The apples are very good and the woman who works there claims that they don't use as many pesticides as other Connecticut orchards, which is great. The apple dumpling in the bake shop was very delicious. The reason for the 3 stars is for two reasons (1) lack of selection,and (2) off-putting "apple picking" education prior to picking. They only had Macintosh this past weekend and one tree with Empire apples. Other orchards we have been to this fall have had many other apple selections. They also only let you pick from 2-3 trees in the orchard, which is not very fun and you feel sort of "watched." The woman who you check-in with at the beginning may be very lovely but she gives you a lecture about picking apples before you go and I found it to be condescending and overkill. I understand providing us with a few instructions but I felt like she was lecturing us. I would not go back for that reason alone. read more

Thank goodness for caring proprietors. Today was our first visit to Lost Acres Orchard, and it won't be our last. We found a pick your own orchard and small farmstand with a heavenly smelling bakery located immediately behind the small service counter as you enter. Rolling out dough for farm fresh apple pies was the owner, who regaled us with her story of 38 yrs in business at this location. She was clearly proud of some recent additions, including a significant kitchen expansion that allows her to serve porch lunches. She also spoke proudly of her staff, all honors students from the local high school. We purchased a pie, along with an assortment of other baked goods, including an awesome bourbon pecan bar. Everything we tried was excellent. The owner told us of their extensive menu of holiday pies available on an order only basis - we were quick to add our name to her email list guest book to be assured we're reminded when late November rolls around. read more

A couple years ago I bought a wonderful apple pie and picked apples at Lost Acres. I and my family were very happy with the results. We drove over 35 minutes to this place. This last week I was back again. The kitchen help who make the apple pies must have changed for the BAD. The apple pie I bought was just out of the oven according to the person who waited on me. It looked delicious. I couldn't wait to get home to taste it. I was so disappointed when I did taste it. The apples were very hard and half cooked and the crust tasted like cardboard. I guess the new cooks were in such a hurry to produce pies for the customers that they forgot to totally cook this pie I bought. I know I'm only one customer but I will not drive the 35 minutes again to eat a half baked pie. read more
