This historic farm is located in West Granby and is over 300 acres. The land has been farmed on since 1756. There are trails on the property open to the public, they also offer CSAs (community supported agriculture). They sometimes hosts classes and events. There is a seasonal farm store onsite. The store was lovely; I enjoyed shopping there. There were fresh produce as well as some dairy products, cookies, pickles, and more. They were offering free samples of watermelon in the summer. It's definitely worth a visit once they open again for the season! read more

Jamie and the entire team at Holcomb Farm are AMAZING!! They were so on top of planning, details, day of coordination, the list goes on. We did our rehearsal dinner, get ready, ceremony, and cocktail hour at Holcomb Farm. The venue is absolutely breathtaking from every angle. It's beautiful while still being rustic and charming. The prices are so reasonable for what you're getting and I couldn't have imagined a better place to get married. Jamie was helpful the entire time, even fluffing my train before I walked down the aisle! I cannot recommend the location, venue, and staff enough. Holcomb Farm has been an exceptionally positive influence on our lives for the past several years. The combination of high quality organic produce, the encouragement to select crops in the field right from the plants, and the opportunity to interact with the farm crew during pickup, is gratifying beyond words. Joe and Emma have done a masterful job of continuously evolving the breadth and depth of vegetables and varieties, and the pivoting Joe has done to effectively deal with Covid this year shows Joe's savvy to run and course adjust a complex business model. There's a spontaneity about the farm shares that we welcome openly - farming is not exactly predictive, given the many variables that go into growing. Crops harvested in one year may not grow in the next year, and that's ok. It makes for an unknown excitement every season, and every week. We welcome the unknown, and hope you do too. This is a great farm that is part of Granby both in the CSA and other events that they hold throughout the year. We belong to the CSA for four years, even volunteered. Then last year 2011-12 the old workers left, there was a falling out between the board members and the workers that were running it. We were going to sign up again but noticed that the prices actually doubled for a share which while we liked the farm and the fresh vegetables (although the last year was a bad crop overall) we just thought it was too much too justify. read more

Coming from a family with many food sensitivities, Holcomb Farm has given us the gift of truly clean and nutrient-dense food. And when your food is so full of goodness, it tastes better, too. No need to worry about produce bathed in chlorinated water because they use well water. No need to worry about pesticide drift as there are no conventional farms nearby. One of the things we really love is the "pick your own" component of our CSA share, which also includes gorgeous flowers. There is nothing like getting out in the field with the monarchs and other beautiful butterflies and pollinators... and the chickens. As far as CSA's go, I am impressed with Holcomb farm. I started 2 years ago. The first year, I was less then impressed (however, this was not because the farm was poor, it was due to weather). The second year, made up for the first year's less then optimal growing season. I love that you can pick up eggs, farm raised meats and fruits in addition to the pre paid veggies. One of my favorite things about this CSA, is that there is an opportunity to get fruits in a share (raspberries, watermelon, and strawberries). Of course I wish there were more fruit opportunities, but a lot of CSA's I looked into about 3 years ago now, did not offer any fruit selection. The other thing I look forward to are the gorgeous Sunflowers. Of course the veggies are amazing. I was able to can sauce and pesto for the year in addition to freezing some extra veggies for the winter. By far an amazing farm to be apart of. I'm so surprised to be the first to review - this place has been in operation for a very long time! We have been CSA members for 3 years and picking up my share is one of the highlights of my week. The farm is peaceful, so well kept, beautiful to look at. The barn, where you pick up your share, is, well, "barn-y" and I love it. The veggies are very well washed - we used to belong to another CSA and the produce always smelled like it had been washed in dirty water. Icky. This past year they raised their prices significantly, claiming to be closer to market price, wanting to farm the land more responsibly by decreasing their membership. We really weren't sure about the 50% increase, and we felt they didn't communicate it very well, but apparently they got plenty of negative responses and did earnestly try to make the increase understood. We couldn't imagine a summer without their beautiful produce, so we paid the price. To us, it felt like a good cause. That being said, I haven't seen any difference in the pickups, but perhaps I'm not supposed to. Perhaps it's just about the land and the environment. It's a beautiful spot for photos, too, if you're into that kind of stuff, and every week I take a picture of my "take" and post it to Facebook for my friends to enjoy. And WE enjoy the veggies all week. There's a store area with local meats, eggs, etc., as well. The Tulmeadow grass-fed beef makes a good burger! read more
