Hubby gifted me the Spring bouquet share. Very happy with my 6 weeks of farm grown flowers.

For the past 3 years, I've subscribed to Eddy Farm's summer bouquet CSA, and it's brought so much color and happiness to my summers. I can't recommend it strongly enough! Unlike other CSAs that offer produce, meats, or other farm goodies, this one is strictly flowers -- which is a nice little indulgence during the summer months. Eddy Farm offers a few different options for CSA duration and pickup locations (area farmers markets or on-farm), too, so you can pick the most convenient offer for you. Whatever option you choose, it's totally worth it! There's always an impressive assortment of flowers showcased in the bouquets, and there's an array of bouquets to choose from, but no two are ever alike. It can be hard to choose which to take home from one week to the next, but they're all so expertly arranged that you can't make a wrong decision.

I cannot express my love for Eddy Farm enough. If you live in the greater Hartford area and haven't visited them, then shame on you. I'm lucky because they are right around the corner from where I live so I'm there all summer long. This is a chemical free farm, but it is not certified organic, which doesn't matter to me. It doesn't have to be certified to be a chemical free farm and great for the environment. Haley and Andy are the owners. You will also see them at the farm stand on Willard Ave. They are super nice and helpful. They have a wide variety of vegetables and some fruits. Some things they carry are: Corn, Tomatoes (including various heirloom), Raspberries, Beets, Yellow squash, Zucchini, Garlic, Fresh Bread (from Hartford Baking Company), Potatoes, Flowers, Herbs, Green beans, Pickling cucumbers, Salad Cucumbers, eggs, all different kinds of peppers, and more! They are currently open everyday from 10-6. They also sell small floral arrangements at the farm stand and will sell flowers in bulk as well as do floral arrangements for weddings and other special occasions. Bottom line is go there and go there often!

I went September 1st so this is long overdue. I'm trying to switch to more locally sourced foods and this was near me so it was my first hit and miss. There were two little "stands" with maybe a dozen or so different produce. Lots of bees, lots of flies. In between the stands, there's a little barn?shed? looking building dimly lit but had a bunch of not-your-usual flowers which were different and fresh but costlier than your grocery bunch of roses/sunflowers. The prices weren't bad but they weren't great either. I ended up getting nothing and going to Whole Foods which was probably more expensive x3 but in my comfort zone. I didn't know what to expect going here, so if you need more selection and shelter/no bees/flies then it isn't gonna be for you but if you know what's up and you know what you need from a farm stand like this, this is gonna be a great local farm stand for you!

What a beautiful farm stand with beautiful produce! The fruits and vegetables were great quality. My son ate a tomato like it was an apple on our ride home. The greens looked crisp and vibrant. There was a fantastic selection- peaches, plums, tomatoes, kale, lettuce, corn... They had lovely flower bouquets. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They were able to answer all my questions and had sincere smiles and great attitudes our entire visit. This was such a great experience from such a little farm stand. Made my day. Can't wait to visit again.

chemical free vegetable stand that also sells flowers, hartford baking company bread and herbs. Can't beat chemical free, great product and and convenient.

    Beautiful summer blooms!

. I feel better just getting out of the car at the farm stand and breathing in the smells, and basking in the sun on the side of a rural road!

There happened to be a bunch of info tents for local business and sports as well as Boy Scouts and other groups having fundraisers. The actual farmers market was very small sadly- two farms, a bakery stand and someone selling gems and playing guitar. The farm options met my needs and I got some goodies but was disappointed there was so little. On the bright side it was cool that I could buy some palo santo and a quartz crystal.

This review is based on a visit on a Thursday afternoon; the market is open on both Thursdays (from 3pm to 6pm) and Saturdays (9am to 1pm) from mid-June through October. I was doing errands in the area and saw signs all over, so I decided to check it out. Saturdays must be the more popular and busy day, as there were only two vendors when I stopped on a Thursday. There was a local farm and a local florist. I thought that maybe I had missed it as there were only these two, but I knew it was the market by a replica sign to the street signs near the two tents set up on a small green strip in the middle of the parking lot square. The farm had a wide array of fruits and vegetables, with sweet smells--particularly from the peaches--wafting through the air. They had a great supply and selection. The florist, Jenny's Flowers (seasonal fresh cut flowers from East Windsor), was extremely kind and had unique floral arrangements. I purchased two dahlia flowers for $3 each, both of which came with their own glass mason jars. It seemed to be a reasonable price, especially as I could keep the jars. I have never seen a dahlia in person before, and the ones Jenny's Flowers had were absolutely gorgeous. The colors and varieties were beautiful. She had other types of flowers as well including multi-type flower bouquets and sunflowers. I asked how to care for the dahlias, and she gave me good, helpful instructions. Though I was very pleased with my flowers (and I did not need any produce), I am surprised there were not more vendors and a wider range of products. The website for this farmers market boasts many more vendors and a wider range of goods than I saw. I may make a trip back on another Saturday, as this must be the day that all (or at least more) vendors are there. I really like the setting this market is in, and it has really great possibilities.

They sell plants and flowers, but I didn't pay attention to that aspect of their operations. Cold Spring sells some of their own produce, products from other CT Farms and/or Orchards, Cold Spring branded products such as salsa, and other area products such as bread from a local bakery. I bought green cabbage, peaches, celery and salsa. Everything seemed appropriate quality for seasonal CT produce. The produce I didn't buy also looked good and represented what's in season pretty well. I will definitely go back for in season produce since I live in the area. This is an observation as opposed to a criticism. The reason I'm giving Cold Brook 4 Stars rather than 5 Stars relates to the extent of their offerings compared to another Farm Stand I frequently visit that's a bit farther away. That Farm Stand has a wide range of partnerships with high end CT businesses and they have things like high quality bagels, cheeses, pies, cupcakes, ice cream sandwiches, etc. That Farm Stand also has a wider range of canned goods, meats, and dairy products etc. I would travel farther to a Farm Stand like that because there are more products that interest me. Cold Spring will be the place I go for convenience when I want in season produce for a few days.

As they price individually and in sets, you may end up bringing home more plants than planned, but this is a good spot to get it all started. We now have a glorious set of tomatoes in progress, and now a couple extra tomato planters. The double decker wagons all over also help you take home more. The little farm store, extra colorful with its murals, has honey, maple syrup, salsa, and maybe more on down the season. It's neat to see start and end of season at the checkout, and the staff was kind. Thankfully there is extra parking is on both sides of the farm store, in case you're driving East, just look out for wagon traffic on your way through each greenhouse.

There were plenty of free on-street parking when we went. Since moving to the town of Canton, I have been meaning to make a trip. This past Sunday on Labor Day weekend, I finally made it. There was live music. The market was full of people shopping and vendors. There were produce, British baked goods, mushroom coffee and jerky, maple syrup, books, art, soap, shirts, jewelry, etc. There were plenty of vendors selling all their goodies. We visited each stand and enjoyed shopping and window shopping. We purchased cookies from Calos cookies, scones from the British stand, and maple lollipops from another stand. The Cow's Coop brought a baby cow (calf); it was so cute. After, we went to get coffee at LaSalle's and walked around the town. The weather was perfect, the vendors were friendly, I look forward to going back and supporting more small businesses.

There is just something about Collinsville that resonates with me -it has a laid back Bohemian Hippie Vibe that is hard to put into words. Maybe its the dozens of happy pooches that wander around. Maybe its the ultra friendly vendors. Maybe its the drop dead gorgeous scenery as you look over the Crown and Hammer. Maybe it's all the bicyclists and joggers that are everywhere. Maybe its all that granola and nuts and seeds and tie dye. It's like hard to explain, man..... We bought some corn, and a pizza and biscottis from Collinsville bakery. There are quite a bit of vendors here, most definitely more than when we started patronizing the Market a few years ago. Beautiful fresh produce is available from dozens of stands, plus meats, baked goods, herbs, eggs, you name it. It's a wonderful way to spend a few hours on a Sunday Summer afternoon.
