I recently moved nearby and was curious about this Farm's offerings. My review exclusively focusses…read moreon the food-related Farm-stand part of the business. They sell plants and flowers, but I didn't pay attention to that aspect of their operations. Cold Spring sells some of their own produce, products from other CT Farms and/or Orchards, Cold Spring branded products such as salsa, and other area products such as bread from a local bakery. I bought green cabbage, peaches, celery and salsa. Everything seemed appropriate quality for seasonal CT produce. The produce I didn't buy also looked good and represented what's in season pretty well. I will definitely go back for in season produce since I live in the area. This is an observation as opposed to a criticism. The reason I'm giving Cold Brook 4 Stars rather than 5 Stars relates to the extent of their offerings compared to another Farm Stand I frequently visit that's a bit farther away. That Farm Stand has a wide range of partnerships with high end CT businesses and they have things like high quality bagels, cheeses, pies, cupcakes, ice cream sandwiches, etc. That Farm Stand also has a wider range of canned goods, meats, and dairy products etc. I would travel farther to a Farm Stand like that because there are more products that interest me. Cold Spring will be the place I go for convenience when I want in season produce for a few days.

3 glorious seasons of the year you can find starter flats and baskets here at Cold Spring Broom…read more Annuals, perennials, and garden starters are all here! As they price individually and in sets, you may end up bringing home more plants than planned, but this is a good spot to get it all started. We now have a glorious set of tomatoes in progress, and now a couple extra tomato planters. The double decker wagons all over also help you take home more. The little farm store, extra colorful with its murals, has honey, maple syrup, salsa, and maybe more on down the season. It's neat to see start and end of season at the checkout, and the staff was kind. Thankfully there is extra parking is on both sides of the farm store, in case you're driving East, just look out for wagon traffic on your way through each greenhouse.

There happened to be some school/ arts even going on that Saturday I stopped by to the farmers…read moremarket. There happened to be a bunch of info tents for local business and sports as well as Boy Scouts and other groups having fundraisers. The actual farmers market was very small sadly- two farms, a bakery stand and someone selling gems and playing guitar. The farm options met my needs and I got some goodies but was disappointed there was so little. On the bright side it was cool that I could buy some palo santo and a quartz crystal.

Tucked in to the center of a group of shops and restaurants, this farmers market is a little harder…read moreto find but is well advertised from the main streets winding around the outside of the buildings. This review is based on a visit on a Thursday afternoon; the market is open on both Thursdays (from 3pm to 6pm) and Saturdays (9am to 1pm) from mid-June through October. I was doing errands in the area and saw signs all over, so I decided to check it out. Saturdays must be the more popular and busy day, as there were only two vendors when I stopped on a Thursday. There was a local farm and a local florist. I thought that maybe I had missed it as there were only these two, but I knew it was the market by a replica sign to the street signs near the two tents set up on a small green strip in the middle of the parking lot square. The farm had a wide array of fruits and vegetables, with sweet smells--particularly from the peaches--wafting through the air. They had a great supply and selection. The florist, Jenny's Flowers (seasonal fresh cut flowers from East Windsor), was extremely kind and had unique floral arrangements. I purchased two dahlia flowers for $3 each, both of which came with their own glass mason jars. It seemed to be a reasonable price, especially as I could keep the jars. I have never seen a dahlia in person before, and the ones Jenny's Flowers had were absolutely gorgeous. The colors and varieties were beautiful. She had other types of flowers as well including multi-type flower bouquets and sunflowers. I asked how to care for the dahlias, and she gave me good, helpful instructions. Though I was very pleased with my flowers (and I did not need any produce), I am surprised there were not more vendors and a wider range of products. The website for this farmers market boasts many more vendors and a wider range of goods than I saw. I may make a trip back on another Saturday, as this must be the day that all (or at least more) vendors are there. I really like the setting this market is in, and it has really great possibilities.
