Lucky Charms Latte! (Photo by Deanna Troy Travels)

This place is a perfect addition to Newington. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of seating, just beware this venue can get crowded on the weekends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They even have fun themed beverages for different seasons, pictured is their "Lucky Charms" latte. This is a good meeting spot for friends and familes.

Do you like baked goods? Do you like sandwiches, both breakfast and lunch? Do you like good coffee, [[HIGHLIGHT]]comfortable seating and friendly staff[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]? You've come to the right place. I am a breakfast sandwich person, big time. Always savory too. My wife and I had a delightful Friday off recently and made the trip on over to this wonderful spot for some biscuit sandwiches and treats to take home. The biscuit sandwiches were delicious. My only complaints would be that the egg is a little too thick and it could use a titch of pepper and/or tabasco in it. That said, the biscuit, meat (I got sausage) and cheese are a great combination. The biscuit is crumbly in the best way too. We also nabbed two cheddar, chive, garlic biscuits to go as well as two Neil's Boston Creme doughnuts, which were killer. I can't personally vouch for the coffee but we met a lovely guy there who is obsessed with great coffee and he said that Community Room coffee is awesome. Check them out. I think you'll love it.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]LOVE this place! Perfect hang out. Good sit down place with friends or family.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also a great spot to work remotely.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great sit down comfort food and great coffee. The baristas are very nice. The serve with a smile and very friendly. Personable.

The Community Room Cafe (CRC) just opened adjacent to the parking area behind Newington Center businesses like Rooster Company, Carvel, etc. It shares a building with a Century 21 and Allstate Insurance. It has some nice elements like colorful and comfy seating, but it also has the ceiling of what looks like an older small office building. Changing the ceiling at some point would help establish a more friendly vibe. CRC serves coffee, coffee beverages, breakfast and lunch Monday through Saturday. They have donuts from beloved Neil's and bagels from OG legit bagel provider Goldberg's. I'm familiar with both Neil's and Goldberg's and the food from there looked on point. CRC sells bags of Giv coffee, which is one of my favorite CT roasters. I assume this means that CRC's coffee is made with Giv, but I don't know that for sure. I do not have the impression that CRC is looking to compete with area coffee places that sell high end specialty coffee beverages. For instance, a customer asked if they could make a chai beverage, and the customer was told they could only give her a pre-made chai. So if you're looking for a specialty drink with a name such as "Lavender Haze Lattez", you may need to find that elsewhere at least for now. I ordered a black iced coffee. CRC is still developing muscle memory for its ordering system. It took the cashier about 2 minutes to process my black iced coffee order. I assume they will figure out that sort of thing and I'm not factoring it into my review. I like Giv, but this one didn't stand out fpr me. It seemed like the coffee to water ratio may have been a bit off towards the water side. It was pretty good though. CRC seems to emphasize a certain purpose and bolstering a sense of community. There is a neon sign that says "gathering" and an artsy sign that said "Drinking Coffee and Praising Jesus." I've seen references to the fact that you can reserve or rent the room for meetings. I'm interested to see how CRC evolves. For now, I would rate it as 4 Stars.

Ok to start- what genuinely nice people!!! So many great options and great coffee drinks. We got the yogurt bowl, banana cold brew, and yogurt bowl and everything was delicious. So many menu items I need to come back for! Also a very good selection of options for gluten free AND celiac safe (they know cross contamination procedure etc). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great seating options inside and out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cozy couches and table games if you want to hang out for a while.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great way to start the day

Even though Newington isn't "my" town, I'm here pretty often, as some of my closest friends live here. Their brand new Community Room Cafe aims to bring the community together while slowly creating more of a downtown feel. What a tastefully designed space! Given that the Christmas season is fast approaching, they have some cute holiday decor already out. They have a pretty large menu of some tasty breakfast and lunch options. I was intrigued by the Brussels Sprouts Salad. On this occasion I wasn't hungry, so that will be for my next time. They have Neil's Donuts and Giv Coffee as their partners. They also offer Avery's Soda. I got a mocha, a cappuccino, Avery's Fruit Punch soda and a very large Neil's Boston Creme donut. Would you believe it, but these four items were just $11.35!? Maybe they charged me in error, but whatever it is, I'll take it. My mocha tasted as it should. Rich, chocolatey, frothy and delicious. The Boston Creme donut was perfect for sharing. I'm not kidding, even the half was a generous portion! I also got a Cranberry Lemonade. It was sweet, cool and refreshing! The Community Room Cafe is a wonderful addition to the area. You could come here to socialize with friends or to get some work done.

Match Latte special and a chocolate glazed Neil's donut.

A hidden gem. I almost don't want to talk about it out of fear of becoming too popular. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I thought this was like a community center for the town so it took me a minute to realize this was a legit coffee shop.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Specials for the month are on a board. Got one, loved it. Can we talk about how they get fresh Neil's donuts daily??!!! I can get amazing coffee and don't have to drive to Neil's? Staff is super friendly. I will be returning often.

    Trisha V.

Wonderful & inviting cafe! A prettily designed space featuring a great set up with tables and chairs. Best part is the comfy chairs. This is where I sat and enjoyed my delicious latte. They feature Neil's Donuts which are amazing. Prices are good too. You should check them out!

It's not trying too hard, and that's exactly why it works. Feels like a spot where regulars post up, sip coffee, and take their time. No rush, no nonsense, ust good energy. And then the sandwich shows up... and flips the script. This isn't breakfast. This is a stacked, unapologetic morning statement. The Overloaded Egg Sando Griddled brioche bun, soft, buttery, just enough toast to hold things together (barely). Under that, a crispy hash brown doing the heavy lifting, adding crunch and soaking up all the goodness. Sausage brings that savory backbone, while the spinach scrambled eggs stay fluffy and rich. Then you get that creamy hit from the smashed avocado, melted smoked gouda layering in a subtle smokiness, and finally... the gochujang aioli. That aioli is the move. Sweet heat, a little funk, a little tang, cuts right through the richness and keeps every bite from getting too heavy. And let's be honest... Had to unhinge my jaw like a snake just to take the first bite. This thing is messy, stacked, and fully committed to the cause. Not first-date food. Not "eat it in the car" food. This is sit-down, take-a-minute, maybe-need-a-nap-after kind of food. The best part? The space balances it perfectly. Big, bold sandwich... calm, easygoing room. Food: 3.8/5 Service: 3.4/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.7/5 Value: 3.6/5 The Charles is a nice upscale restaurant on Main Street in Wethersfield which opened in 2020 and quickly made Connecticut magazine's list of best restaurants. It is inside an old house of some sort, so it has a charming ambiance. They have a small parking lot so the spaces are a bit tight. Then, although we were on time for our 8:15pm reservation, we found out that they didn't have a table for us on the main floor, which is bad because my parents have mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. They asked us if we would be ok waiting five or ten minutes. Sure, that was fine we said. The host was very reassuring and he let us know that the corner table near the fireplace was finishing up and he'd get it bussed promptly. So that was good. But after we sat down we experienced service issues. Many items were unavailable. No orrechiete. No crab cakes. No sirloin special. It was weird. We hadn't arrived that late, on a Saturday night, how could so many dishes be sold out/unavailable? We ended up going with the scotch egg $11 and butternut squash arancini balls $12 for appetizers, which were both great. The scotch egg was a decent size and came with a mini salad. The arancini balls were small, but the truffle gorgonzola fontina cheese filling was really nice. Entrees were not bad. My Berkshire pork chop cooked medium was tender enough and had decent flavor. My Dad's veal ribs over mac and cheese were really good. My Mom's wagyu burger was tasty and my sister's salad was satisfactory. However the cost of the additional protein to the salad seems high (Grilled Chicken +14 / Seared Salmon +16/ Grilled Shrimp +21 / Churrasco Steak +24). The drinks were well made, but took a while to get to us. The "Charles... In Charge!" with old forester bourbon, montenegro, spiced cherry bitters, luxardo $15 was a hit. My Dad enjoyed his $17 Manhattan made with Angel's Envy bourbon. My $11 FreeBird mocktail was refreshing. Yet, throughout the night we found it difficult to get our server's attention. All four dishes did not arrive simultaneously. We had to flag someone down for more silverware after the appetizers were cleared. Right at the end when we were ready to pay, she got tied up listening to a couple at a neighboring table tell her a story or something. This must have been quite a yarn because she was totally enrapt and oblivious to our needs. We started wondering whether our table was actually her responsibility or not. Finally she came by and we let her know we were done, no dessert or after dinner drinks, just the check and a few boxes for takeout please. This was a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and maybe I took a risk by booking it for my Dad's 89th birthday, which was supposed to be special. Our experience was okay, and maybe we'd go again in the future, but there were too many more ups and downs this evening than I would have liked for a special occasion. I am rounding up to four stars overall, even though on this particular evening I didn't think each individual component met that mark exactly.
