No warming spices, no earthy or spicy notes. No flowery or grassy notes, no real distinction between a standard latte. Mostly just milk flavored and a little bit of coffee mixed in. I was really interested in a unique spin on a latte, but didn't really get much of anything. It's not bad, but it's very tame for a coffee shop. It's better than any coffee chain, but there's not a lot different in terms of flavor profiles.

Parking is on the street around the corner, since the street the shop is on is closed to cars and open to pedestrians only, which adds to the charm of the area. You order at the counter, get a number, and they bring your food right to your table. When you're finished, you clear your own dishes to the bin, which keeps the place tidy. The overall quality of food and service is good enough to justify coming even if you're not viewing the collection (tell them at the desk so you don't pay admission for art you're not there to see). The menu is compact, but imaginative and varied and the food is high quality. The dining room borders the courtyard making for a nice setting (cool wall treatment too) and seasonal outdoor seating. I opted for a Reuben: nicely balanced on a tasty marbled bread. Out server Alycia wisely advised me to upgrade from fries to Brussels sprouts with the amazing (for Hartford) vino cotto sauce. Easily the best deal in town, they are delicious! On the downside, the little side of cold bean salad was bland and some workman was going at something pretty hard with a hammer drill during lunch service. I therefore have to ding them a star. Our order was a Chai Latte and a Cold Brew - each was $5. The pours were very large, and I swear that my cold brew was the very best I've ever had. I love coffee, drinking it hot or cold, and what I had here is in my all-time Top Five Percent. It was that good. I had a sip of my wife's Chai Latte and thought it was excellent as well. What really impressed me were the flavors of both drinks- not overpowering, but strong enough to appreciate them. The Coffee Guy has it all - specialty coffees, matcha, chai, espresso drinks, and pastries and sweet treats to pair with your coffee cup. Not too sweet but not bitter either. We talked to the owner for a little bit and he was very nice and personable. We will be back in the summer with our dog to sit out on the patio.
