I recently attended an event at Bloom Bake Shop, and it was such a lovely experience. They have a cozy little area upstairs that's perfect for small gatherings, complete with a comfy couch and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Afterwards I stay downstairs and experienced the coffee shop. I ordered a gluten-free breakfast sandwich, which was really good. The bread was a bit firm, but I actually appreciated that since most gluten-free bread tends to fall apart. This one held up nicely. My honey latte was absolutely delicious, smooth, perfectly sweet, and beautifully made. There's also a cute outdoor seating area, great for relaxing with coffee on a nice day. Parking is on the street around the corner, since the street the shop is on is closed to cars and open to pedestrians only, which adds to the charm of the area. You order at the counter, get a number, and they bring your food right to your table. When you're finished, you clear your own dishes to the bin, which keeps the place tidy. I also noticed the staff going around regularly wiping tables and keeping everything clean and welcoming. Overall, Bloom Bake Shop has a great vibe, tasty food, and friendly service. I went to Bloom Bake Shop today while exploring Pratt Street in Hartford. It is a very cozy treasure in the middle of a sea of high rise buildings ,with old time charm. I purchased a couple of Cheddar Cheese bagels and brought them home. Without a doubt, they are the best bagels I have ever had. They are soft and tasty on the inside with a light, slightly crispy crust on the outside. I only wish there was a Bloom Bakery closer to the Farmington Valley. I will be back for bagels though. Is it a flower shop? Is it a coffee shop? Is it a bakery? Of course, it's all three. We popped in a little before their 1:00 Sunday closing today, and the only bakery items remaining were four lemon blueberry scones. We scooped up two of them at $3.75 each. Now a scone isn't always a scone. Some have the density and weight of a doorstop or a hockey puck. Not these, they were as good as any scone we've ever sampled. They were soft, fresh, and bursting with lemon and blueberry fruit and taste. They were exceptionally great. The interior was very pretty with flower displays, booths, tables, and plenty of goodies for sale like bags of granola, pastries, and sandwiches. The exterior dining patio was packed with customers finishing off their lunches or late breakfasts while sipping their coffees, espressos, cappuccinos, and lattes. What an absolutely lovely spot!! As you walk through the entrance, you know you're in for a treat! "Blooms" are everywhere you look, which give a delightful feel to this cafe. Cute items for sale also. Quite a few small tables are available for seating, plus a cozy pair of chairs tucked below the window. I really wanted to like this place! It's very cute, but I found the cashier pretty unfriendly and the Rosemary bread that they put the egg and cheese sandwich on was absolutely tasteless. Almost like it had no salt in it at all. The coffee too, also just tasteless. It's too bad because this is such a great spot. I have been a big fan of Bloom since they've opened! It's the cutest place to stop for a coffee or pastry and a great place to have a morning meeting. Their coffee is always delicious (I love the iced lattes) and their baked goods are to die for. My favorites are the scones, the Nutella brioche, and the muffins but you can't go wrong with anything they bake there. So good. Everyone who works at bloom is always so kind and fast- I never wait more than 5 minutes for a coffee or food. I've also had their salads and other refrigerated items which are also delicious. I want to try a bagel (made in house) next! You're guaranteed to run into one of the owners, Alex or Monica, almost every time you visit. It's obvious this cozy little bakery/cafe is their pride and joy. It's filled with fresh floral arrangements, live plants, locally made gifts and dried floral arrangements too. Ordered the cookie platter for the holidays. The cookies were not good. Chocolate chip cookies were dry, flat, hard and tasteless. The shortbread were tasteless as well. The brownies were good, which is the reason for 2 stars. Threw most of them out as nobody wanted them. Paid $65 all in, so not worth the price. Much better options out there. read more

What an awesome find! I searched breakfast places in downtown Hartford and knew instantly that we had to go! The menu was mouthwatering and the bakery dud not disappoint! I had a superb greek yogurt parfait topped with fresh berries, pumpkin seeds, oatmeal, pecans and slivered almonds, with a touch of cinnamon and honey. Super delish! The store is so adorable. Flowers? Gorgeous. I really love their chicken salad sandwhich and the price isn't bad compared to surrounding places. You can tell a lot of love goes into this shop everyday :) The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the carrot cupcake. I felt that the frosting tasted butter heavy, but that may just be my personal preference since I prefer Swiss or German over American buttercream. Bloom Bake Shop, is a flower shop, a bakery and a coffee shop. When you walk inside you'll see the wide assortment of flowers and plants. They also have greeting cards and candles, all locally made. The space is so beautiful, not just because of the flowers, but because it is spacious and vibrant inside. Each table has a little assortment of fresh flowers on it. What a sweet touch! Here, they brew Giv coffee, Connecticut's award winning coffee. I got a latte, my friend got their iced coffee. Our coffees were both pretty generous "smalls". As expected since it is Giv, they were both rich, creamy and delicious! I didn't try any of their baked goods this time, but there was a banana bread calling my name. Bright, airy, new coffee shop on Pratt St. that serves up basic coffee concoctions and delicious baked goods, and also doubles as a flower shop. First thing's first, their pastries are fantastic. I have tried both their blueberry scone and another pastry that I don't know the name of, and I loved them both. Since the place has a great location, a nice detour, and delicious baked goods it has the potential to be great, but it's not quite there yet. First of all, there is limited seating. This seating is also fairly uncomfortable and is around tables that have 1/2 as a booth, but the booths are at 90* so they bothered my back I have also come here twice now, and, although my latte was delicious the first time, the second time it was not nearly as good Also, their to-go lids for their coffee are the cheap foldable ones read more

I found this cafe by accident while looking for another restaurant. The cafe is super charming with the perfect amount of lighting. It's pretty quiet inside which makes it great for working. They have select baked goods and coffee available. I ordered a parfait, iced chai, and gingerbread and molasses cookie. Each item was well made. I think Bloom Bake Shop is so cute, it has a calm, relaxing, and bright ambiance. I love that it's open on the weekends too because those are the only times I'm able to stop in for a coffee and fresh pastry for brunch. Every time I go, the pastry display has a completely new selection, all of which is delicious and filling. The staff is nice and if I have my dog with me on a walk, I'm able to bring him in for quick stop. Extra bonuses is that they have locally produced products like ginger honey, candles, and cards. While we *love* having this nice bakery in our downtown neighborhood (more businesses like this, please!), I always feel it could be much better. For starters, the opening hours are spotty and short: it's not open every day and closes relatively early. Also, it's quite pricey, even for an upscale bakery/café. Last, the quality of the pricey coffee is unpredictable--sometimes it's delicious and therefore worth the price, but other days, it's subpar and waaay overpriced. I want this place to succeed but it'll need to up its game if it's to do so. read more
