Birdhouse coffee was a very cute spot. I love that it doubles as a regular restaurant/bar. The coffee and dot cake were amazing. Service was great, I'll definitely be back!

This place easily deserves 5 stars. A brewery, cafe and coffee shop all in one? Say less!!! Birdhouse offers specialty coffee and matcha, breakfast, lunch, and insanely delicious pastries! I could spend hours here that how much I loved the energy in the room. I got a Cinnamon Roll Matcha that was nicely sweet and just hit the spot! We also tried their Strawberry Coffee Cinnamon Crumb Cake that was too good to be true - I would've eaten the whole case if I could! They also have a decadent Cinnamon Roll that was perfectly gooey and that icing is out of this world! I also got their Quesadilla, swapped the crispy chicken for grilled chicken and was charged $2 for it. That was the only part I thought was strange since I would think grilled chicken would cost less in general than crispy chicken, but it tasted amazing, so the five star is warranted.

Parking: huge lot Decor: fresh and clean, off to the side of a larger area that is a brewery (location is inside a brewery) quite brisk inside, most had long sleeves on. Staff: friendly but the speed of taking care of customers is on the slower side, normally a line. Menu: coffee selection limited to light, medium, dark. No french press option but they do offer a pour over. Overall: not bad but felt odd being in a brewery with louder music playing so not really conducive to getting work done. Also asked to buy a travel mug and they only sell coffee cups which I found odd.

I stopped here while in the area and decided to try a Soup Flight for $12 it came with 3 mini cups of soup ( New England clam chowder, tomato and sausage and kale ) with oyster crackers. Soup was delicious and very filling. Staff were helpful and friendly when trying to figure out what to order. Food tasted very fresh here too. For a drink my partner got Samocha iced latte which came with caramel, mocha, coconut, with coconut cold foam, and coconut Flakes. It was delicious! Definitely would grab coffee and or food when around this coffee shop again. This coffee shop is connected to Conn. valley brewing too. Plenty of parking also.

Have been here before but came for the women's month market! They were very busy, the line was wrapped all the way to CT Valley Brewing. Purchased a bagel with bacon jalapeño cream cheese which was amazing and at a great price. And two muffins, the carrot cake one was to die for! The only complaint I have is that when standing in line you are not aware of the wait time for the hot food, is it up on the counter on a whiteboard and staff does not mention it to you at all. Coffee was great loved the Saint paddy's day line up offers. Plenty of space to hangout with friends and chat, and or study/work.

Finally made it up to Birdhouse Coffee on a rainy Saturday. Birdhouse Coffee has been on my list for a while, and I've been drawn to their Monthly Special drinks. Birdhouse Coffee and Connecticut Valley Brewing share the same space, which provides plenty of seating, both inside and out. Each section has its own vibe, continuing a classic, old-time aviation theme. It was fairly busy, but we were able to find a seat in the brewery area. Birdhouse Coffee offers both breakfast and lunch, along with their coffee and baked goodies. Unfortunately, we arrived too early for lunch--the kitchen switches over at 12 p.m. on Saturdays, and we arrived a little after 11:30 a.m. We settled on a rich Espresso Brownie Coffee Crumb Cake to pair with our specialty drinks. I tried the April Shower, which was so fitting for the day--an iced blue bellini tea (which I spotted on the shelf for purchase), honey, and topped with a sweet 'cloud.' It was light and not too sweet. My mom ordered the Blueberry Pancake Chai, which was also very good. The maple, cinnamon, and warm spices were perfect for the day. We'd definitely love to come back to try more of Birdhouse's coffee and some of their lunch or dinner items next time.

Birdhouse Coffee is connected to the Connecticut Valley Brewing. We got a table at the Brewery and ordered food via online from the Birdhouse Coffee. There were seats in the coffee shop as well, but it was packed. The parking lot was big and it had plenty of spots. My husband and I both ordered a chicken salad wrap, he had it with fries, I had it with tater tots. They said it would be about a 20 to 30 minute wait and the food would be ready by 4:30; we understood since it was super busy, they also said that we would get a text when it's ready. By 4:50, we didn't get a text so my husband went to check with the counter and the food was ready a few minutes after. Aside from the wait, the chicken salad wrap was good, the tater tots were slightly soggy, not sure how long it was sitting. I'm planning to check out their coffee next time since we already had coffee from a different place. Also, I think it's a great idea that it's connected to a brewery; I didn't mind the wait as much since I had some beers in the meantime.

Came to this wonderful coffee shop after the wedding of one of my friends and I really enjoyed the experience! Tried their banana pudding latte and it was delicious!!! I also loved their pistacchio muffin! The coffee shop also has a brewery right next to it with beer on tap, so it was quite nice to have the option to enjoy some coffee before some afternoon drinks! Wish I lived closer so I could come to this coffee shop again!

Updated review: Early bird sandwich. Good but shocked it was half not whole (as menu led me to believe) for the price.
    Lauren D.

I'd rate this at a 3.5 if I could, so they get a 4 with rounding. SERVICE still really good service, the girls at the counter were helpful with any questions I had. Offered suggestions on drinks. DRINK I enjoyed my drink, I got an iced peppermint mocha. Not the best peppermint drink I've ever had but I did enjoy it. In the past I got things with cold foam and felt it wasn't very foamy and not worth the price add on so I avoid now. FOOD I was really looking forward to my sandwich. I got the early bird sandwich and was excited as I love pesto and birdhouse does their eggs just how I like (over medium). I was shocked when I got my sandwich. For $10.50 I couldn't believe I got a half sandwich that they couldn't even be bothered to have the bread facing the same direction when they slapped it on the platter (along with a pink syrup-y splotches of something from another dish or drink on the paper). I know their menu offers half sandwiches but what I ordered called it a breakfast sandwich. There also was hardly a drizzle of the pesto aioli on there. Between a small drink and my food I paid almost $20. I did enjoy what I had but the value simply wasn't there for me. I would still go to birdhouse when they have their special market events because it does make the trip more worth it for me, but overall I won't go out of my way to get food/drink here.

One of the best local places to go for cars and coffee (Sundays). Always a nice variety of cars and mature crowd. The coffee is good, pastries taste fresh. Prices are a little steep and they usually can't keep up w demand - a long wait is the norm here (don't get a brk sandwich and you'll get your order a LOT faster). But overall I love the atmosphere and people here. I've also stopped by on Saturday and it's very chill. Nice seating areas to sit and work or just relax w a friend.

I've been meaning to try Birdhouse Coffee for a bit now, but was never close by.... aaaaand then one day, I had a client booking up in that area and I capitalized on it! The space is pretty cool as it's very open and connected to a brewery. The staff seemed like they were bothered to have to stop chatting in order to take a customer's order. As for the coffee, it was decent. I've been to quite a few coffee shops and usually order the same one or two drinks. In this case, the coffee itself (iced americano) was pretty good, but the cold foam just kind of dissolved into the coffee making it just a latte. If I return, I'll be skipping the foam.

Pricy, but much improved. Came here again to try their food and drink. Today I got a great service and a good meal for the price. They have honed in their menu and switched to breakfast sandwiches with bakery items. The particular sandwich was a seared sausage disk of impressive thickness and good flavor. The cheese was present but not overpowering, and the egg was a perfect over medium. With just enough yolk ooze to mellow out the heavy cheese and sausage. The coffee is still very good. Strong enough to stand up to strong chocolate flavors but not skimp on the other flavors either. It also had enough sweetness to counteract the bitter and still have character. Not shown was a lemon poppyseed muffin. Which was relatively fresh, a very present but not obnoxious amount of lemon, a little sweet and very plentiful. A very good muffin for sure. It's a great improvement from what I've gotten before. They saw where they could improve and have done so. It's still pricy, the 3 items came up to 22 bucks. But the quality of the ingredients and dishes served justify the bill. Kudos to birdhouse coffee for the efforts for excellence, shaving you can give these guys a try!

I can't believe some of the reviews. The coffee is roasted in house, the syrups are from scratch. If they could fit a cow in their (way too small) parking lot they'd probably have fresh milk and cream, too! Went in yesterday for a work meeting and the service was even better than usual. The vibe and atmosphere here is great for meetings, business or casual. My associate and I split a Siphon Pot to start. If you have the time, this is the very best way to enjoy your coffee. It really pulls the flavor out of the beans, on par with a pour over or aeropress, but it's also perfect for sharing. Afterwards, we both got Cortados, which were excellent, and I brought ice coffee back to the office for the man we left behind to run things. He sighed happily after sipping it, commenting that he could tell it was from J René. Why not 5 stars? The food is ok but I'm not a big fan of the pastries I've tried here. They're "fine". Normally my wife will get one and I'll try a bite or two. She's really into croissants and won't get them from here, saying they're a waste of money. The prices can feel a little steep here, especially compared to other good, local spots. Lastly, the parking lot is so tiny and during busy times of day the road can get crowded as well.

Drum Roll is predominantly a coffee roaster, but they sell some merch as well. They may serve beverages on site, but that doesn't seem to be a focus of the website or store and I was in and out when I visited. I did not see any seating. I bought two things at the small, thin store in OW, and I also recently had cold brew made with Drum Roll coffee at Bake Market in Rocky Hill. The following things stood out. First, the person who helped me, who I assume was the owner, was conversant in coffee terms that matter to me. Sometimes I talk to a store employee about single origins or roast levels, and they don't know what to say. The person who helped me knows coffee and they had a good selection. Second, my Ethiopian Single Origin Beans I used for a home pour over, turned iced coffee, were obviously fresh roasted. You could taste the roast. A coffee can actually be too fresh roasted, and based upon experience, I think some of the listed tasting notes will be more prominent in a few more days. I usually wait 7 to 10 days after the roast date before using coffee. For this reason, putting the roast date on the bag might be a good move. Third, the coffee bag is a high end bag. I buy a lot of craft coffee over the internet. Some places try to have useful bags, and some places try to save money on bags. Drum Roll has a ziplock style seal that makes keeping coffee fresh easier. Their bag is on par with other top places. Fourth, Drum Roll serves canned cold coffee. I'm not sure if they rotate their offerings. I bought one snap chilled Papua New Guinea Cold Brew can. It was very smooth and above average for a canned coffee product. Fifth, I don't remember the exact price, but I remember thinking the price was reasonable. I would definitely buy more bags if I happened to be in OW when I needed coffee beans and Drum Roll is open. Sixth, Bake Market's cold brew made with Drum Roll coffee was rich and smooth. It had a darker flavor and roast profile than I normally I drink, but it was well executed for that style. Based upon all of this, I recommend Drum Roll for people who make coffee at home. While I have my own grinder at home and buy whole beans, they even asked if I wanted the beans ground. 4.5 Stars

Cannoli, Tiramisu, 3 kinds of mousse, eclairs, frosted or plain brownies (are you bold enough to get a brownie with peanut butter buttercream frosting?), cream horns, rum rolls, an amazing peach concoction of sweet dough soaked with peach juice and rum and filled with vanilla pudding (!), Sfogliatelle, Zeppol, cream puffs, NY style cheesecake, fruit slices (peaches and strawberries with whipped cream layers and frosting), pasticiotti, cappuccino slices, Amaretto Squares, Limoncello Cake Slices and Chocolate Brownie Cake Slices.
