I come from Willington to enjoy the environment and meet with others here at Silk City. There is always ample space considering how busy it almost always is. People will always considering moving over to allow you to sit. Outlets for powered devices are plenty so you can always work at your leisure while enjoying your coffee or pastry. The only thing I give it one star less for is it often feels like a meat freezer inside. That's great for when the temperature demands it but not on average days. Bring a sweater, or light jacket just in case you are prone to get cold quickly. read more

Quite simply, I was blown away by Silk City Coffee. I even went in with extremely lofty expectations due to friends' rave reviews and how long I have been wanting to visit, the anticipation building & building. Then on top of that, I ordered a drink far from my norm. All that, and I was still blown away! Upon entering, I loved the open environment and how it still managed to feel cozy, comforting and warm. It was relatively busy, though more steady business than anything too crazy. Everyone seemed super passionate, intentional, and focused in everything they did, while still being friendly and creating a welcoming environment. That's impressive and rare. Now for my order. I knew that I needed to try one of their baked goods, as I always monitor their weekly rotating menus. So, I went with their gluten free & vegan mocha cake with espresso glaze. Then for my coffee. I am normally an iced latte in the largest size possible kind of girl. And I'm hesitant/picky with mocha/chocolate coffee. However, as part of their 10 year anniversary festivities, they were offering a chocolate birthday cake latte, composed specifically and intentionally as a 12 ounce hot latte. I wasn't exactly setting them up for success by ordering this! But, I just knew it would be special, and oh my goodness was it! Special doesn't even feel strong enough a word. The flavor was so deep and developed. It was rich and indulgent tasting, but drank light. It was a marvel. I got strong notes of both cake and chocolate, and I don't typically think flavors pop as easily in hot drinks versus iced ones. I could not believe how good this drink was. The latte art aspect was incredible of course as well. It was so clear how talented this team is. The mocha cake was also exceptional. Super moist while still having a pleasant crumb. Great chocolate flavor, neither too dark nor light. Not super sweet. Great espresso glaze. It was one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had. For pastry and baked goods, though, I do love the combo of chocolate and coffee. I absolutely cannot wait to return to Silk City Coffee. I am kicking myself for not getting here sooner. I have only heard amazing things about the people behind it as well. This is a must try spot, especially if you're a CT coffee lover. Don't be afraid to trust them either! I'm so glad I did! We arrived at Silk City Coffee at around 11 AM on Saturday. There was still decent parking spots in the lot behind the cafe so parking was easy and so was finding the cafe. I love the open space-- there are a lot of working tables where people have their laptops open working and just people connecting with each other. There was a decent line when I went to make my order because there was only one person at the counter but it felt like it moved pretty fast. I ordered a breakfast biscuit and a basic iced coffee. The ice coffee was handed to me from behind the counter and once my biscuit was ready they called me by name from that counter by the self service. They provide half&half, whole milk, and oat milk at the self service as well as a couple of sugar varieties. This month their give back cookie is a vanilla cookie which I ordered as well-- it was denser than expected but for the sake of an important cause I'm glad I ordered it. They also have a restroom near the back. Parking is free for 3 hours or you can also pay 2$ for a full day parking. Beautiful cafe in downtown Manchester! Perfect to just hang out and to get some work done with convenient parking and seemingly ample outlets. read more

Very nice and spacious coffee shop! As soon as you walk in, you'll notice quite a few people working on their laptops, but the space is large enough that it still feels cozy and comfortable. We found a nice table by the door, and the whole place had a very homey and relaxed atmosphere. I also loved that they have outdoor seating. I ordered a cappuccino, and it was very good. We didn't order any food because we already had plans to eat somewhere else down the street, although I'm usually tempted by something sweet with my coffee! This time, the desserts didn't really catch my eye. Many of the options appeared to be gluten-free, and visually they looked a little dry to me, so I decided to skip dessert. Overall, though, I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It's a comfortable, welcoming place to sit, enjoy a good cup of coffee, work on your laptop, or just relax. we're in town visiting family and stumbled across this cafe one morning. it's a cute spot with a decently sized food menu, fresh pastries, and delicious drinks! i ordered a hot vanilla latte with oat milk and loved it - i'm sure what syrup/flavoring they used but it's great. not too sweet but not bitter either. i also had the avocado toast - the cucumber ribbons and lemon zest/juice was a great addition and made it even more fresh. this might be the thickets bread i've ever had toast on but it was super filling and made it feel worth the cost ($9-10 for a single slice). my partner also really enjoyed the BEC breakfast sandwich! read more

Came in on a dreary rainy Saturday morning and it hit the spot. Parking was easy in the back. It was more spacious than I thought inside but it was busy. The menu has a variety of drinks, breakfast sandwiches and lunch options. I ordered a hot chocolate and a salad with chicken. I loved both of them! I had a friend pick up a blueberry lavender matcha latte and a scone for me so I can't speak to the ambiance or service of this place. However, my latte was super good. The blueberry syrup tasted just like fresh blueberries. I couldn't taste the lavender or it wasn't strong, but I'm okay with that. It wasn't too sweet. I always drove by Silk City Coffee when I worked in Manchester and wanted to stop by, especially after seeing rave reviews on social media. I finally visited this week with my husband and was surprised to see how busy it was for a Monday afternoon. Despite the amount of customers, there was plenty of seating. My husband ordered the Biscuit Sandwich with a hot Mocha latte, while I ordered an iced Mexican Mocha latte. I wanted to like my drink more - it was too milky for my liking, and fell short on flavor overall. I didn't taste any of the spiced honey and the mocha was more like a drizzle at the bottom of my cup. I did like the vibe here though, so I would revisit and hope to pick a better drink! read more

Blown away by Silk City Coffee - I completely understand why it's rated #67 of best coffee shops in the world! Even though i'm not a coffee drinker, they have other options and I decided to try their summer special, a matcha punch! Mixed with matcha and pineapple juice, this was so refreshing and a combo I didn't know was that amazing! I also got their sesame chocolate chip cookie that was almost as big as my head. Again, a combo i didn't think of but it was delightful and so flavorful! And lastly, their s'mores crispy was out of this world! It was so big and the chocolate coating and graham dust was impeccable! Such reasonable prices for such big portions! Good coffee, good baked goods, good option I thought I already reviewed this place, but I guess I haven't. This is the place that I go to after I have breakfast to get a good coffee and a couple of bakery treats to bring home. The coffee is always fresh ground and done by people who know their beans. The chef in the back is an artisan of baked goods, churning out brown butter cinnamon rolls, savory biscuits, and Stuffed cookies galore. They do charge appropriately, and they are popular so it can take a while to actually get your coffee during the busy times. But the quality is there, and they are a great option for your morning routine. The only downfall is that although they are pretty much exclusively the only true coffee shop on main street, they are not the best breakfast spot. Given that there's a lot of solid contenders for the best breakfast spot on that strip and in that area, I would rather opt for one of the other places for my breakfast and go elsewhere for the coffee. That's not to say they are not great, they are very much a good option for a coffee and a muffin. But it's not cheap, and if I'm traveling for breakfast then I want a place that has the best bite. If you just need a drink and a quick bite, this is the place to go to read more

I visit a lot of CT coffee shops. I legit have to be in the Top 5 percentile for CT coffee shops visited. I've been sitting in a comfy chair in the back of Silk City and drinking a black iced coffee from about 10:30 to 10:50 am on Saturday morning. Silk City has to be one of the busiest CT coffee shops I've been to. They have a lot of seating, and basically every table was in use and the line was steady. That makes sense. People have been telling me for a while to visit. I get it now. I went with my classic order -- a black iced coffee. Silk City roasts their own coffee. Extra point for freshness. Their iced coffee was a Single Origin Guatemalan. Extra point for using a Single Origin. When I asked about the iced coffee, they knew these things right away. Extra point for expertise. The coffee was good too. Smooth. Good going in and afterwards. Also a good value. Service was also great. A black iced coffee takes ten seconds to serve, but I often wait 5 to 10 minutes for all the latte orders in front of me to be filled. I got it in less than one minute, and as I said, they were busy. I didn't order anything else, but Silk City had good looking pastries, including multiple GF and Vegan Options. You can also order sandwiches and breakfast items. I don't know exactly what I expected before I got here, but Silk City surpassed my expectations in every way. Five Stars read more

This was my first time here. It was around 11am on the Friday before Easter and it was crowded! I ordered the mint basil latte. It was ok but I didn't love the flavor. I should have asked the barista for a recommendation. There was literally nowhere for me to sit with my drink but I wasn't planning to stay anyway. I've been wanting to check out Silk City Coffee for a while, so while in Manchester yesterday with a friend we decided to stop by. It is so spacious inside, with a full brick wall, high celings, and plenty of light coming through. I got a latte, and my friend got a cappuccino. I noticed about 80% or more of the guests were there alone, working on their computers, only a small handful were there to catch up with friends over coffee. It felt a bit like I'm in a library with it so quiet, like my conversation would earn me the finger on lip and the side eye. It is a very beautiful space, with lovely minimal decor and a giving Christmas tree. Our coffees came out in unique black glasses. They were both so frothy and so delicious. They brew very tasty coffee at Silk City. There was also a verity of cookies, banana bread and such to enjoy. read more

I had the BEST pumpkin spice latte this morning at Silk City!!! I strongly recommend you visit soon!!!

I met up with a friend, "East of the River," and she suggested Silk City. It's a large open space with a couple outdoor spots, cozy spots by the window and a long row of tables on one side (they were all full) and barista station and kitchen on the other side. I feel like I can tell the quality of coffee beans by the cappuccino, and so that's always my go-to. I was absolutely thrilled! It was dark, complex, silky, and had perfect froth. Hints of the cinnamon powder I requested came through in the most subtle way. The temperature was perfect. This was one of the best I've ever had, anywhere. The staff was busy yet kind, and my drink came out in a few minutes. If I am in the area again, I'll be sure to stop by! read more

Walking into this coffee shop for the first time gave me all the neighborhood coffee shop vibes in the best possible way. Cool vibes and ambiance are what I felt from the minute I passed through their doors I headed there upon the recommendation of some friends on a recent Saturday afternoon and was not disappointed. I wanted to come here, grab a latte, a seat, and chill out for a bit but it seemed like I was not the only one with that idea. To me it was a sign that Silk City was doing something right! The vibe was chill but electric and packed with so many different people - from those looking to catch up with friends and family to those looking to do some work - Silk City Coffee welcomed them all. I was hard pressed to find a seat ;( but after I ordered my latte - I found a spot on a bench to relax and people watch. Silk city Coffee is a pretty decent size café in downtown Manchester. The café has a simple drink and lunch menu and doesn't exceed more than 15 items each. The cafes atmosphere is inviting with a decent crowd that included couples, friends, coworkers, people working, people doing take out and us. The place has good ambience and I love the exposed brick and an open and simple floor plan. The café was decorated for holiday season and green Christmas tree adds color to the rustic feel. My wife said that the Cortado was decent and she has had better. However, the service was great! read more

Been here a few times since covid. Upscale coffee house... it doesn't seem like they do super high volume but that is also what feels so nice... Definitely the kind of set up where people hang out with laptops ... during the off hours. They've had a few seasonal drinks each time I've stopped by.. really high quality micro foam.
