we're in town visiting family and stumbled across this cafe one morning. it's a cute spot with a decently sized food menu, fresh pastries, and delicious drinks! i ordered a hot vanilla latte with oat milk and loved it - i'm sure what syrup/flavoring they used but it's great. not too sweet but not bitter either. i also had the avocado toast - the cucumber ribbons and lemon zest/juice was a great addition and made it even more fresh. this might be the thickets bread i've ever had toast on but it was super filling and made it feel worth the cost ($9-10 for a single slice). my partner also really enjoyed the BEC breakfast sandwich! read more

I had a friend pick up a blueberry lavender matcha latte and a scone for me so I can't speak to the ambiance or service of this place. However, my latte was super good. The blueberry syrup tasted just like fresh blueberries. I couldn't taste the lavender or it wasn't strong, but I'm okay with that. It wasn't too sweet. I also got a cheddar tomato scone, which was very good! It was fresh and there were tomato pieces in it. I would definitely stop by here just based on these two items alone! read more

Came in on a dreary rainy Saturday morning and it hit the spot. Parking was easy in the back. It was more spacious than I thought inside but it was busy. The menu has a variety of drinks, breakfast sandwiches and lunch options. I ordered a hot chocolate and a salad with chicken. I loved both of them! I always drove by Silk City Coffee when I worked in Manchester and wanted to stop by, especially after seeing rave reviews on social media. I finally visited this week with my husband and was surprised to see how busy it was for a Monday afternoon. Despite the amount of customers, there was plenty of seating. My husband ordered the Biscuit Sandwich with a hot Mocha latte, while I ordered an iced Mexican Mocha latte. I wanted to like my drink more - it was too milky for my liking, and fell short on flavor overall. I didn't taste any of the spiced honey and the mocha was more like a drizzle at the bottom of my cup. I did like the vibe here though, so I would revisit and hope to pick a better drink! read more

Blown away by Silk City Coffee - I completely understand why it's rated #67 of best coffee shops in the world! Even though i'm not a coffee drinker, they have other options and I decided to try their summer special, a matcha punch! Mixed with matcha and pineapple juice, this was so refreshing and a combo I didn't know was that amazing! I also got their sesame chocolate chip cookie that was almost as big as my head. Again, a combo i didn't think of but it was delightful and so flavorful! And lastly, their s'mores crispy was out of this world! It was so big and the chocolate coating and graham dust was impeccable! Such reasonable prices for such big portions! Good coffee, good baked goods, good option I thought I already reviewed this place, but I guess I haven't. This is the place that I go to after I have breakfast to get a good coffee and a couple of bakery treats to bring home. The coffee is always fresh ground and done by people who know their beans. The chef in the back is an artisan of baked goods, churning out brown butter cinnamon rolls, savory biscuits, and Stuffed cookies galore. They do charge appropriately, and they are popular so it can take a while to actually get your coffee during the busy times. But the quality is there, and they are a great option for your morning routine. The only downfall is that although they are pretty much exclusively the only true coffee shop on main street, they are not the best breakfast spot. Given that there's a lot of solid contenders for the best breakfast spot on that strip and in that area, I would rather opt for one of the other places for my breakfast and go elsewhere for the coffee. That's not to say they are not great, they are very much a good option for a coffee and a muffin. But it's not cheap, and if I'm traveling for breakfast then I want a place that has the best bite. I've been sitting in a comfy chair in the back of Silk City and drinking a black iced coffee from about 10:30 to 10:50 am on Saturday morning. Silk City has to be one of the busiest CT coffee shops I've been to. They have a lot of seating, and basically every table was in use and the line was steady. That makes sense. People have been telling me for a while to visit. I get it now. I went with my classic order -- a black iced coffee. Silk City roasts their own coffee. Extra point for freshness. Their iced coffee was a Single Origin Guatemalan. Extra point for using a Single Origin. When I asked about the iced coffee, they knew these things right away. Extra point for expertise. The coffee was good too. Smooth. Good going in and afterwards. Also a good value. Service was also great. A black iced coffee takes ten seconds to serve, but I often wait 5 to 10 minutes for all the latte orders in front of me to be filled. I got it in less than one minute, and as I said, they were busy. I didn't order anything else, but Silk City had good looking pastries, including multiple GF and Vegan Options. You can also order sandwiches and breakfast items. I don't know exactly what I expected before I got here, but Silk City surpassed my expectations in every way. Five Stars read more

This was my first time here. It was around 11am on the Friday before Easter and it was crowded! I ordered the mint basil latte. It was ok but I didn't love the flavor. I should have asked the barista for a recommendation. There was literally nowhere for me to sit with my drink but I wasn't planning to stay anyway. I've been wanting to check out Silk City Coffee for a while, so while in Manchester yesterday with a friend we decided to stop by. It is so spacious inside, with a full brick wall, high celings, and plenty of light coming through. I got a latte, and my friend got a cappuccino. I noticed about 80% or more of the guests were there alone, working on their computers, only a small handful were there to catch up with friends over coffee. It felt a bit like I'm in a library with it so quiet, like my conversation would earn me the finger on lip and the side eye. It is a very beautiful space, with lovely minimal decor and a giving Christmas tree. Our coffees came out in unique black glasses. They were both so frothy and so delicious. They brew very tasty coffee at Silk City. There was also a verity of cookies, banana bread and such to enjoy. read more

I met up with a friend, "East of the River," and she suggested Silk City. It's a large open space with a couple outdoor spots, cozy spots by the window and a long row of tables on one side (they were all full) and barista station and kitchen on the other side. I feel like I can tell the quality of coffee beans by the cappuccino, and so that's always my go-to. I was absolutely thrilled! It was dark, complex, silky, and had perfect froth. Hints of the cinnamon powder I requested came through in the most subtle way. The temperature was perfect. This was one of the best I've ever had, anywhere. The staff was busy yet kind, and my drink came out in a few minutes. If I am in the area again, I'll be sure to stop by! read more

Cool vibes and ambiance are what I felt from the minute I passed through their doors I headed there upon the recommendation of some friends on a recent Saturday afternoon and was not disappointed. I wanted to come here, grab a latte, a seat, and chill out for a bit but it seemed like I was not the only one with that idea. To me it was a sign that Silk City was doing something right! The vibe was chill but electric and packed with so many different people - from those looking to catch up with friends and family to those looking to do some work - Silk City Coffee welcomed them all. Silk city Coffee is a pretty decent size café in downtown Manchester. The café has a simple drink and lunch menu and doesn't exceed more than 15 items each. The cafes atmosphere is inviting with a decent crowd that included couples, friends, coworkers, people working, people doing take out and us. The place has good ambience and I love the exposed brick and an open and simple floor plan. The café was decorated for holiday season and green Christmas tree adds color to the rustic feel. The atmosphere: I could see myself sitting here for hours with my laptop. The space is made for connection with ample seating and cozy lighting. We also got a chocolate raspberry pastry and a chocolate chocolate cookie to share. We were definitely excited to try both of these pastries, however, we were a bit disappointed. The brownie cookie was not as chewy and chocolatey as you would want. it was a little more dry, and not super sweet. The pastry was good, however, it was unexpected to have the jam inside.
