    Vanilla cake and buttercream frosting
    Elizabeth B.

I recently purchased a cake here for my husband's birthday. He was very specific about what he wanted. This was the only local bakery that was able to make exactly what I needed. Small round cake with layers? Check. Vanilla cake and butter cream frosting? Check. Lots of buttercream frosting flowers? Check. I couldn't have been any happier on how this turned out and how many flowers she was able to get on the cake. This was one of the best cakes I had gotten for his birthday. Frosting was smooth, and cake was moist and delicious.

Ordered a small bday cake . Cream cheese topping , vanilla cake with chocolate cream. I picked it up a day ahead . I cannot say enough . Moist cake and the chocolate just set it off . The price was reasonable . I can't see going anywhere else.

Very cute and small bakery in Newington ,Ct .I recently wanted to try a new place and this one was on my radar for a while. The customer service was really good, I got acknowledged as soon as I walked in and was helped right away to place an order.I just wanted a small simple cake for my daughter's birthday :vanilla with strawberries. They had it ready on time a couple days later and couldn't leave without trying some of their cupcakes. My daughter loved her cake (I bought and ordered some special decorations online) and we all enjoyed the different cupcakes.I would say the best part of this experience was the customer service and the feeling that I was walking into my grandparents kitchen. The smiles and warmth helped to brighten that rainy afternoon! Thank you!

The Kakery always goes above and beyond but blew me away with this cake for my daughter's birthday! The cake was delicious and decorated beautifully. It's exactly what I wanted. Absolutely going to be our family birthday cake bakery! Thank you so much for making my daughters birthday that much more special.

The Kakery was amazing in providing my daughter with the cake of her dreams for her 5th birthday! I am so amazed that all I had to do is ask if they could make a pinky pie cake. The owner said she wasn't sure who that was but would look it up and try. Her trying resulted in a perfect cake! I couldn't be happier and I will be coming here for all of the birthdays I host from now on. The price was reasonable, the taste was delicious and fresh. Not to mention I had to change the date of the party because of rain and when I called, apologetically, the owner assured me that was fine and had the cake ready when I got there! Thank you the Kakery!

The example my mom sent via email to her

My mother emailed her about having a cake made for her birthday. And told her she wanted 3 layer cake with cream filling and 1 layer filling of cappuccino. She even sent her an image if the cake that she wanted it to look like. And to have it ready for noon in a week and a half later. And to contact my mom if there are any issues or questions. When I went to pick up her cake at noon it was not ready. I had to wait another half hour. And when i saw the cake I told her it was nothing like the photo. And the women told me that she doesn't do any of the toppings like that. She also claimed she never got a reference cake photo. There were too many layers in the cake. This cake was $50... I honestly could of made the cake myself and make it look better. The stars were purple/silver. But in the photo the coloring is suppose to be cream and the brown from the chocolate. The cappuccino layer was right under the frosting...not even as a cream layer to the cake. We were very disappointed in the way this turned out. The flavoring of the cake was nice but overall satisfaction and customer service wasn't great at all... the lady was also quite rude when explaining everything to me. If she didn't have time to make my mothers cake with care, she should of told us and we would of gone somewhere else. If she didn't understand the way we wanted the cake she could of contacted us, but no...nothing of that sort. Very unprofessional of them. I do not recommend. We will not be coming back here.

Ordered a cake and a tray of brownie/cheesecake bites for a grad party. The cake was decorated nicely and was very delicious. The bites were also very tasty and had a very pretty presentation on the tray. My only gripe was not knowing they don't accept cards. Wouldn't have been a problem at all if I had known ahead of time. Overall, I'd recommend The Kakery. It's always nice to support local businesses!

Amazing cake. The cake was delicious, fresh, light and wonderfully chocolaty. I ordered a cake for a combined graduation/birthday and everyone loved and devoured this cake. Thank you for continuing to create amazing cakes.

Ordered a VW custom chocolate cake with peanut butter filling. Owner was friendly, the cake was amazing and we used a groupon as well. We were running a little late because the we were initally unable to find the building but the owner was sweet and waited for us. I had a great expirence and plan on buying another cake from them. I would recommend this to anyone considering buying a cake.

"She got muffins for sons, she got cornbread too Sweet rolls…read moreand jelly, boys I'm really tellin' you She had the baker shop boogie It's the nicest thing in town" (Willie Nix) We had a wonderful visit to Bake Market today and walked out with a ton of high-quality stuff for under $39 before tax. Our haul included a big tray of eggplant parmesan ($11.99), a small container of chicken salad ($7.99), a big container of Street Corn Salad ($11.99), a serving of Mango Pineapple Bread ($2.95) and Coconut Zucchini Bread ($2.95), and an Everything Biscuit (just $1.49). Bake Market has refrigerated and freezer cases on the walls with entrees and pastas and sauces and salads and desserts. It reminded me of the Pasta Vita store we used to visit in Avon. We split the chicken salad for lunch on Wednesday and enjoyed it very much, it was heavy on diced chicken and light enough on the diced celery and mayo that it was very hearty and not overrepresented by the rest. We decided to split the Everything Biscuit with lunch and I really liked the texture and savory taste of the everything spice. We split the Street Corn salad for Friday dinner, and it was a big portion of sliced Romaine, diced bacon, sliced radishes, roasted corn, tortilla strips, and grated Cotija cheese. It was very good; the lettuce was super fresh with plenty of bacon and corn. We split the Mango Pineapple Bread for dessert and that was excellent too. It was dense, sweet, full of flavor, and quite wonderful. The Coconut Zucchini Bread was so-so. I didn't think it had much of a flavor, and besides the blandness it was incredibly messy with shredded coconut everywhere. Our Bake Market sampling ended with their Eggplant Parmesan. It was a massive 2-lb tray that cost just $11.99. And how can I NOT mention that containers of fresh pasta AND sauce were included! We made four servings out of it. The eggplant parm was made out of a very thick single slab of breaded/fried unpeeled eggplant, and not the multiple layers of thin slices stacked up lasagna-style you customarily see. It had plenty of sauce and plenty of cheese, but how was the eggplant itself? I gotta tell you, when I saw that thick slab, my radar went up because I had a feeling it would be rubbery, tough, and unappetizing. But my doubts were short-lived after my first bite. It was delicious and tender and full of flavor without a hint of grease. Honestly, it was one of the best representations of eggplant I've had in a while. So, there you have it, a nearly perfect score on a variety of foods, and a very satisfactory $39 haul that scored high on quality and value.

I didn't know what to expect, but it was delicious -- the perfect mesh of flaky and doughy textures with the slight warmth was divine. I also saw they had pistachio matcha lattes so I decided to try one. It was surprisingly pretty tasty despite the color not being a very deep green. They also offer several samples, which I was excited about, but I was disappointed because they were all salty -- even the zucchini bread that I expected to be more neutral/sweet. The bagels were also very flat. Maybe their sweets just happen to be better?

I popped in because the parking lot was mostly empty. It wasn't particularly busy in the cafe either. There were two small groups ahead of me in line. I order my food and black iced coffee to go. I received my food. It even had to be heated. And I had to wait 10 minutes for them to give me my black iced coffee. Even though there are only two or three people waiting in the drink area. And that was after I said something. So who knows how long it would have taken. This isn't because of lack of effort. The baristas were doing things. They're making lots of drinks. But it's not clear for whom. They finish the drinks and they don't call people's names. Maybe they're for to go orders? I understand that restaurants need to make choices about how they run things. All I can say is, that it's not a good experience to get all of your food and you have to wait for a black iced coffee (a drink that takes very minimal effort) for 10 minutes. Even though you're one of only a few people in the drink area. I'm not going to change my review score. But these experiences definitely affect how often I visit.
