    Dubai Chocolate Latte

This Farmington location of The Hartford Baking Company is located in a little adorable, cottage like house. They have a shaded patio at the front, and a very cute seating area upstairs. Not to say, that I'm looking forward to the winter, but something about the idea of this cottage while it's snowing outside, with a cozy drink in hand, already has me in a mood. Here they use Giv coffee beans, simply the best, in all of Connecticut. I got the very viral Dubai Chocolate Latte. I also got a slice of their Kitchen Sink Blondie. This latte was very chocolatey with notes of pistachio. I really feel like it is more chocolatey than a mocha. The Kitchen Sink Blondie was hard on the outside, but soft on the inside. This was very sweet, it even had M&Ms in it, which is fun for the color effect, but less fun due to the additional sweetness. I would likely try something else the next time. The Hartford Baking Company makes tasty coffee, and a whole assortment of baked goods.

I've often driven past Hartford Baking Co and finally had the chance to stop in! It was a great place to catch up with my mother-in-law, with a nice seating area upstairs. They had a great variety of fall specials. I'm not usually a big coffee drinker, but the maple one was nice and sweet to cut the bitterness of the coffee, and I really enjoyed it! My husband loved his cappuccino and my mother-in-law was a fan of the pumpkin iced latte. The pastries were all fresh too. The staff handled the volume of customers well, and they were welcoming. We'll definitely be back!

    Packaged up giant pretzel

Hartford Baking Co. is pulling out the freshest ingredients and always from scratch creations. We visited them at their Farmington location to grab a tea & coffee... but the bread looked so yummy as we stood waiting for our lattes to be made, we were tempted to buy a few things. We got a loaf of Italian bread and a giant buttery pretzel. They were able to slice the bread for us too. Huge plus, have you tried slicing a fresh loaf of bread from a bakery before? The pretzel was a great snack with our tea & coffee too. It was soft, chewy, salty and might haven been the best pretzel I've ever had. We had gotten a mocha latte and a London fog latte. That Italian bread turned into French toast later at home. The bread was so good by its self too, so light and fluffy. Hartford Baking Co. had an assortment of cookies, scones, dessert bars as well as breakfast sandwiches and lunch options. We now know that it's great place to pop in for meal, they have a dinning room up stairs and plenty of parking in the back of the building. We also learned they do catering too that might be useful information for the feature. All in all, we are glad we bought and tried their bread. Highly recommend the pretzel to eat on the way out too.

    Weekend Brioche French Toast

There are bakeries who can make great sourdough, but if you need a bakery that makes alllllll the bread, I can't think of a better option in the Hartford area than Hartford Baking Co. For St. Patrick's Day, I wanted a great fresh rye loaf for leftover corned beef Reubens. HBC is the only bakery I considered, and the bread was perfect. For the Super Bowl, I wanted a giant pretzel to corral my charc board. HBC! Big hit with the family. Rolls for Thanksgiving? HBC. Brioche for French Toast? HBC. Winners across the board. I've been to all of the HBC locations multiple times. After hearing about the parking available behind the Farmington HBC, I've been there multiple times this year. I've had great interactions with the management and non-management crew. They have seating above the main ordering area, which is not something I would have guessed. Good place to visit or work. For coffee, HBC uses and/or sells Giv Coffee and Stumptown. Two excellent choices. I always enjoy my black iced coffee there. The hot chocolate with giant marshmallows is terrific too. I've enjoyed my food orders too. I love their bacon, egg and cheese on brioche rolls. I've had perfectly executed Brioche French Toast on the weekend. The bagels and pastries are very good too. HBC has been, is and will be a big part of my Hartford County food experience. Five Stars

You know when a restaurant opens and you drive past and ever go but then you do and you're mad because you didn't do it earlier? Yeah. Me too. First this location has a wonderful refresh/update. Second, the staff. The staff. So happy to be there, friendly and welcoming. Third. The food. Sooooo good. I had the E- bat sandwich - egg, avocado, bacon, tomato and cheese on a brioche bun. I mean taste bud overload. Perfectly cooked great combo of hot and cold I didn't want it to end. I also go junk bars for dessert for my honey and son. They were insane. So decadent and delicious. Last I was on my way to a massage abs full disclosure stopped when I was on my way home and got m son a Sammy they were so good. Don't wait to go here!

    Hot Chocolate Month in February
    Elisa F.

First visit to this location but big fans of HBC. The parking situation isn't great but there was plenty of parking in back. We came here specifically for Hot Chocolate Month which is every February and enjoyed some breakfast sandwiches as well. Our favorite was the HBC Eggwich with egg, breakfast potatoes, tomato jam and cheddar on a brioche bun. The brioche absolutely makes this sandwich! And flavor was on par with the other locations. This location is a bit smaller than Glastonbury & WeHa but still a nice seating area upstairs. The outside looks like it would be lovely on a nice day as well!

This place has amazing breakfast sandwiches and great coffee. The presentation and freshly used ingredients are both prepared beautifully and the taste is on point. I've been here a few times and my visit is always a great experience.

I'm a fan, was staying around here for the weekend and was happy to have this place nearby. The egg sandwich hit the spot, super fresh and loved the fluffy bun. Also the coffee was a really solid cup, would happily have a second. The upstairs has a cute little spot for lounging and reading, which was a lovely reprieve for an hour or two. Would definitely recommend if that's your vibe.

    Southwest turkey on sourdough bread
    Jabir H.

Great spot to start off the day. I enjoy getting the lunch sandwiches for breakfast. I got the southwest turkey sandwich. I reccommend getting it on a toasted sourdough bread. My girlfriend got the breakfast burrito on a GF wrap. I think it needs a crunch aspect to it but it tasted good besides that. I would come back.

Also had an avocado toast. Decent, added on tomatoes and pickled onions (both $0.75 additional each). The description said that the base (original total $9) for the build your own avocado toast had olive oil and lime on it but I honestly could not taste either. Not sure if they didn't add it or if it may have been mixed in with the mashed up avocado? If so I think it would be better if added on top. Had to put more salt and pepper on it but at least they had packets available to do so. Overall not bad but kinda overpriced (for example they had potato pancakes for $2.75/each?? And additional $1 for apple sauce and another $1 for sour cream? I think it would be better to have 3 pancakes with the add ons for all one charge). Service was good, basic cashier set up you pay before you eat, they serve your food to you w table numbers if you eat in and call out your name for drinks.

Hot tramp, I love you so" (David Bowie) After a morning appointment in Farmington, we were both in the mood to stop somewhere for breakfast. That gave us the perfect opportunity to stop at a place we've driven by a zillion times. Rebel Dog Coffee's area shops have been on our radar for years, and yesterday we finally checked their Farmington location. It's in a strip mall shopping plaza right next to a Nardelli's more or less where Route 6 crosses Fienneman Road/Birdseye Road. Their Dog Pack has four Rebel Dog members spread out around the Greater Hartford area and some of their coffees can be found in local supermarkets. Their Farmington store is very large and comfortable, with plenty of space between the customer tables. The dining room was fairly crowded when we arrived, with people socializing and banging away on their laptops. Rebel Dog has a very deep offering of coffee drinks and food choices, Want a coffee? Well, you best be ready to choose among single or double espressos (with or without foam of whipped cream or steamed milk, lattes. Cappuccinos, mochas, and Americanos, light-dark-or decaf drip coffees, French Press, Pour Overs, teas, jot chocolates and a ton more. You can even get a growler of coffee, tea, or kombucha. I never saw that before. Now, what good is a morning coffee without something to munch alongside it? No worries, because the Dog has you covered with everything from "Build Your Own" breakfast sandwiches, six egg Benedicts, oatmeal, yogurt & granola, fruit cups, and pastries. If you arrive later in the day, your options might include soups, salads, sandwiches, grilled cheese and burgers. Our breakfast order was a cup of their Steady Habits light house blend (a medium-light roast, smooth and sweet with notes of roasted nuts, fig, and caramel), a cup of their Big Red Truck Dark Roast (a blend of both washed process and natural process Colombian coffees for a rich and layered coffee with notes of dark chocolate, crème brûlée, and warm spices), a "build Your Own" Breakfast Bagel Sandwich and an order of Avocado Toast. With tax and tip, everything totaled under $25. The sandwich we built contained ham and an egg on an Everything Bagel and we had zero complaints about it. My Avocado Toast (no added egg or protein) was wonderful. It was a thick slice of homemade multigrain bread topped with a very generous blanket of smashed avocado. We could not have been happier with our first encounter with a Rebel Dog.

The place itself is intriguing I guess, but I was just overwhelmed and didn't enjoy sitting there at all. The final touch was that their point-of-sale is on dialup and from a hundred years ago, so it's slow and they have a credit card minimum of $10. I could not in good conscience recommend The Coffee Trade.
