Oh what a great addition to the downtown scene. Great baked goods and even better, sandwiches too. Ok so not even better because their pastries and treats are next level. Whether it's a dot cake or cupcake or just something sweet, I've always enjoyed popping in here. Friendly service too. Just go!!

" Mr Brown was all alone when Luanne came walkin in She pulled a pistol from he purse and pointed it at him" (Robert Earl Keen) Luann's is a very nice downtown coffee shop, bakery and luncheonette. They have a ton of cakes, cupcakes, pastries, and food choices. They were fairly crowded when we popped in during the afternoon a few days ago, we saw a few people working remotely sipping a coffee and munching on a bakery treat, and we saw a group of half a dozen customers sitting around a table gabbing and enjoying a snack. I really enjoyed the vibe at Luann's -it was very chill and laid back, the kind of place where you could sit, and enjoy your coffee and either work or people watch. The display case of baked goodies is amazing - we saw all types of beautiful cupcakes, donuts, brownies, muffins and more. We picked up a huge 44-ounce apple pie for our desserts during the week, and I have to say it was really fantastic. PRO TIP Unless you are already downtown, you'll need to parallel park somewhere nearby, and that can be challenging at times.

I've always heard really good things about LuAnn's but Ellington is a ways out for me. I'm happy they're open in Hartford now! I've been a couple of times and each time is great. Everyone is so friendly! The space is big and perfect for working remote (they have outlets!!) or grabbing coffee with a group. I added caramel to my iced matcha and it was nice and subtle. The blueberry cream cheese roll lives in my mind rent free. I even brought my mom and she left with a tin to bring home!! The grown up grilled cheese was so unique. I loved all of the flavors but specifically the bread with cranberries and nuts. I got the side of chicken soup and it was a good portion with really good flavor. I can't wait to keep coming back. I'm excited to see how well they do in Hartford!

When my brother is in a good mood he calls me LuAnn. My name has nothing to do with Lu, I suppose my first name is a bit like Ann. Nonetheless, it's a cute southern name, that I don't mind being referred to. LuAnn's is a new bakery and cafe located on Trumbull Street in Hartford, it is just a minutes walk away from the very active Pratt Street. Walking inside I immediately noticed what a clean, bright and smartly set up this space is. It is elongated on the inside with bar stools. Along the wall, they have little open "rooms", where you may choose to work, or maybe have a secret conversation. Their menu is filled with an assortment of coffees, drinks, refreshers, and more. They specialize in baked goods, such as cupcakes and other desserts. I even saw they had the viral dot cake. They also offer wraps and salads. On this occasion my mom got a Cappuccino and I got their White Chocolate Blueberry Latte. The presentation was lovely, the cappuccino arrived in a beautiful terracotta mug, that was filled to the brim. At first sip, my mom immediately identified the coffee beans, "This is Giv!" She proclaimed and she was instantly in a good mood. My latte was also made using Giv beans, this is obvious by the richness of the coffee. It was blueberry, but not overly sweet, very pleasant tasting indeed. Our interactions with the staff was all about smiles and very sincere welcomes. I will be back to try some of their baked goodies!

Decent spot to grab breakfast in downtown Hartford. Scone tasted very fresh. Bacon, egg, and cheese was underwhelming. Bagel was too chewy. Egg and cheese didn't have much flavor. Coffee got the job done.

Afterwards I stay downstairs and experienced the coffee shop. I ordered a gluten-free breakfast sandwich, which was really good. The bread was a bit firm, but I actually appreciated that since most gluten-free bread tends to fall apart. This one held up nicely. My honey latte was absolutely delicious, smooth, perfectly sweet, and beautifully made. There's also a cute outdoor seating area, great for relaxing with coffee on a nice day. Parking is on the street around the corner, since the street the shop is on is closed to cars and open to pedestrians only, which adds to the charm of the area. You order at the counter, get a number, and they bring your food right to your table. When you're finished, you clear your own dishes to the bin, which keeps the place tidy. I also noticed the staff going around regularly wiping tables and keeping everything clean and welcoming. Overall, Bloom Bake Shop has a great vibe, tasty food, and friendly service. Definitely worth checking out!

While the pastries are classic and exactly what you'd expect from a high-caliber Italian bakery, the real gem is the Italian ice located in the cafe. Good lord, the flavors and quality are on a different level--this isn't that Rita's or DQ garbage. The chocolate and strawberry combination is specifically incredible, honestly better than Godiva chocolate-covered strawberries. It provides that deep, rich profile and authentic taste that defines their Itallian vibe. One professional tip for anyone stopping by: bring cash. The cafe doesn't accept cards, and you don't want to be the one standing there empty-handed when you're that close to the best Italian ice on the planet

Good but basic coffee and matcha…read more Came here on the hunt for coffee spots. Generally don't like going into Hartford, but figured it was early enough to avoid the major crowds and traffic. When I first got here, the barista was not ready to take orders yet, so I sat down while they prepped for the day. After about 15 minutes they were ready, so I ordered a basic latte and sat back down. The coffee bar has no food and only coffee and matcha drinks, relying on other businesses to fill that gap when they don't offer food at the primary location. The hours on Saturday don't match up with the other local businesses, so it leads to the ability to get coffee but not food till at least an hours time from open. The latte was basic, coffee is of a decent quality and the milk was frothy. No real design work beyond a basic onion off-center. They had one special latte, a pb&j inspired iced latte. Opted against, since they were still prepping for those orders when I went to order. It's functional coffee for the area. Not bad but not special either. It's a place to get a cup of joe on Pratt street, and it's good coffee but nothing to call home about.

I think I could've done without since it wasn't sweet. I want to visit again and have it one more time! The barista was lovely and she didn't rush me at all as I made my choice. She also made great recommendations. It was nice and quiet in the studio though that's not to say they didn't have any other clients beyond the curtain. Everyone was friendly.
