We were in the city visiting family and sought out local coffee spaces to visit. Upon entry the space was incredibly peaceful and something we needed. Really enjoyed seeing the community elements of art, literature and alter to honor those that came before us. We sat for awhile enjoyed the music, iced coconut lattes and bacon egg and cheese on coco bread. It was the perfect start to our day and celebration of my husbands birthday. We look forward to coming back in the future on our visits to family, as our family coffee and place of peace away from home.
I Stopped here to grab a drink while on a Hartford coffee crawl. I enjoyed a shot of espresso and an everything bagel with cream cheese. My partner got a salted brown sugar iced latte . This cafe is definitely unique. It has an art studio in the back of the cafe. The Parking is kind of hard to find because it's on a main rd in Hartford. Staff were friendly but forgot about my bagel. I ended up waiting a long time for my bagel with cream cheese. I had reminded staff once but they still continued to stock items and take other orders before preparing mine. Staff did apologize and thank me for my patience after all was said and done.
Wow! This spot is super cute! I almost didn't go in because the parking wasn't ideal, but I'm glad I didn't let that scare me off! Inside is really cute and hip. I like how art is incorporated into it! The colors and artwork were really nice! I got the thicc mint latte and it was absolutely amazing! I cannot stress how much of a must try it is! The girl who made it took much effort into making it perfect and it was so appreciated! I'm sad I'm 2 + hours from this shop because I would def go often!
Good coffee, good vibes. This is located in the downtown area and there's plenty of street parking outside. I loved the vinyl/books/game area and the arts/crafts room in the back, and the music selection playing was top tier. The staff was also super friendly & made me feel welcome and wanting to come back! I got the coconut latte. It was great - nice and hot too which is very important to me - too many coffee shops give you lukewarm lattes. Slightly too sweet at the end but I'm a low sugar type of gal so it's probably perfect for the average person and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the type of spot you can sip your coffee and chill for a long while with a laptop - I certainly did. The crowd here was so diverse which I always love to see! All ages and backgrounds - there were even some guys playing chess in the back near the books. And some people doing some art projects in the back room. I will be back to try some food items!

I was overdue for my visit to Semilla. There's a lot to like. It's vibrant. Feels like an independent coffee shop. Has a cool vibe with an obvious love for music. Cool music playing and old vinyl for sale. In terms of the coffee, I think your experience will depend on what you're looking for. There was a coffee menu, but it seemed incomplete. For instance, it didn't list any cold coffee options. It did state their batch coffee is a natural Ethiopian, which is one of my go to single origins. I liked that. Since it wasn't clear whether they have my preferred coffee drink -- black iced coffee -- I just ordered one to see what would happen. The friendly person who helped me nodded and started my order. I could tell about 15 seconds in that he was making an Iced Americano, which is different than iced coffee or cold brew. It's basically fresh made espresso poured into iced water. Iced Americanos are never a high choice for me in a coffee shop, and I've never had a coffee shop start making an iced Americano when I've ordered an iced coffee. They always tell me they only have iced Americanos first. Sometimes I take it. Sometimes I switch to iced tea. Sometimes I get a hot coffee. Sometimes I just say no thanks. The iced Americano was good for what it was. It was better than average iced coffee, but not as good as very good iced coffee. Given the lack of more cold coffee options, and the lack of communication about that when I ordered, I rate my experience as 3.5 Stars. I likely won't return since they don't sell what I drink, but that's the only reason I wouldn't return.
I love Semilla's breakfast & coffee and all the events they do there! Truly a welcoming community of people and a comfortable cafe to sit at to work and meet new people.
Very cozy spot on Main in Hartford. Great decor and atmosphere. Employees were extremely friendly and service was quick. Got the oval tine and vegan lemon pound cake. Oval tine was great but the cake was a bit bland and dry. Other than that, was a very enjoyable visit and great spot to study.
The coffee was good. We took a cream cheese cake and eggs and pesto sandwich. Both were really good in my opinion the cake was a little bit dry. But the thing that really bothers me is that the political statement is inappropriate for the place. is associated with gaza and kafia It's shows "free palestinian" movement that I don't deserve to have a country as an israeli. That very bothered me as a jew. But, I still recommend the place
Semilla Cafe + Studio is my go-to spot! It's been a place of comfort and connection for me since relocating back to CT. If you frequent Semilla, you are bound to see familiar faces with staff and homies alike. The North End blend is my coffee of choice and The Classic breakfast sandwich is on point. Semilla is a Black-owned business and safe space (for real for real), for queer and trans people. Come through and support this local spot!

One of my favorite places for a coffee in Hartford. Not only is the coffee amazing but they are very community oriented promoting all kinds of happenings in the area. Just over all a great vibe. read more
This trendy coffee shop in Hartford is creative, but the results were just so-so. Coconut Latte: Their signature dish. The nutmeg flavor is very strong, almost permeating the entire shop. The roasted coconut aroma is just right. It's recommended to tell the staff to ask for less sugar, otherwise it will be very sweet. Perhaps I just can't appreciate coffee with so much spice. read more

First time coming here and was surprised with the cute ambiance and esthetic. I got the Salted brown sugar latte, it was good. Topped with a bit of sea salt, it was the perfect blend. There is a little library, with a take one leave on option, a community donation of art supplies and crafts as well as their mission to the community. Came here as part of the Hartford coffee crawl, and looks are deceiving, because of the street parking situation. I would have easily missed this sport driving downtown if not for the pass. read more

I asked and Yelp answered. So glad to have found another local coffee shop near my office. Located right past the Yard Goats stadium. The space is open and airy serving coffee and some pastries. They also have an event area and host several live events (that night was an improve jazz night) Not a large menu but they have what matters COFFEE and espresso Handcrafted and delicious. SUCH AN AMAZING PLACE! Right in Hartford Semilla is the place to go for your coffee! I go here frequently to get my coffee and get some work done. The owners are amazing and they tend to remember your order once you are a regular. I would say this is the only coffee shop in Connecticut I can come to and my coffee is perfect every single time. I order the Coconut Latte. It is to die for! The shop itself is beautiful with nice decor! They have a nice urban clean vibe to this place. A beautiful DJ Booth as well as items you can purchase from local businesses. If you ever need a place to get good coffee and a nice ambience this is your place! read more

When you wish there was a Semilla Cafe 24 hours a day! This jawn is PHENOMENAL!!! We've been meaning to visit the location since it first caught our eye back in February but life... We've also been following GrdnKtchn and saw that they were hosting a pop up for chicken and waffles that has been running every Saturday. This was the last Saturday. The Last Supper if you will. We could not pass this opportunity up. Pulling up, SC is on the corner of Main Street located a couple spaces down from where Salvin's used to be. It's been too long since we've been round these parts. Upon entry, your eyes are immediately drawn to all of the art adorning the walls and the hum of patrons enjoying chatting, pastries with their families and friends-even having a nose in a book. It screams: This is a space for everyone. Further in the back, there's an area adjacent to the main floor which has a huge Jenga game and records for purchase! Yes and yes!! SC offers tea in additional to coffee and our barista? was nice enough to patiently go over both menus with us and make the ultimate recommendations. He knows his stuff. We sat by the window and soaked in the sun while inhaling our Chicken & Waffles. After a bit, the place started to get another wave and we reluctantly gave up our seats. Emphasis on reluctantly-we could have stayed all day. SC also features skincare and self care products on their shelves, which we were pleasantly surprised. We selected the iced Jamaican Ginger Sorrel and a Cafe con Leche. Oh! Their local bites included Lisa Bakes Bars and Amazing Ackee Patties!!! read more
What a cute coffee shop in Hartford.it's located right across the Dunkin Donut Park in Main St. Easy to get get off a fin the highway . Parking isn't the greatest. Just need to find street parking but they had a an open lot next door that was accessible and great to park in. I went with my Yelpie friend to check this place out. She introduce you it and said it was fairly new. So we did. When entering, the place is beautifully decorated, cozy and inviting. It's a good size cafe where people will go in to chill, do work , catch up and have a coffee. Met one of the owners Amy and she was sweet, helpful and awesome! They sell products , like natural soap bars , sea moss, natural juices, and a few bites to eat . People were coming and going . I bought sea lugo bring home. Seamoss drink and coconut Seamoss. Can't wait to try! I ordered while there the Cafe Con Leche. It was perfect! Great choice i made! Love supporting small businesses and glad I checked this place out. ! Semilla Café + Studio charts it's own path in a sea of coffee shops. They are self-branded as your neighborhood living room, and it could not be more accurate. Inside, you'll feel welcome, known, and transported off the busy downtown streets. Whether you're a local or first time visitor, Semilla goes the extra mile in flavors, atmosphere, and service. Our barista knew countless customers around us and spoke to us as if he had known us for years. The coconut latte is a homestead with rich coconut cream sweetness and freshly ground nutmeg to garnish. Their snack offerings deserve more than a mention. After trying two Ackee patties and coffees, I have no doubt that the rest of the menu is as remarkable. If you're not convinced yet, Semilla's rotating, indoor market provides space to support growing entrepreneurs and businesses. They showcase artists, designers, records for sale, and a beautiful, custom DJ booth. On top of it all, there are regular events from jam sessions and yoga to comedy nights and more. So cute. This coffee shop is really nice. Love the aesthetic and playlist. Service was very fast. I ordered a small agave mint tea and lemon poppy seed loaf. It was delicious. Definitely recommend! I will definitely be back very soon. Like that they also sell handmade items that are made and owned by women of color. read more

The aesthetic was beautiful. Loved the vibes and the records. Definitely a spot to bring friends and just hang. However, I was not a fan of the coffee. I didn't have time to try anything else but I do plan to give them another shot. read more

I've been meaning to check out Semilla coffee shop for a while now. Today my Yelp friend and I decided to go! I'm so impressed by this adorable and artsy little space. Semilla has been in business for only four months and I wish them and their team all the success! This coffee shop is located on Main Street in Hartford, basically across the street from the YardGoats. Street parking isn't ideal in this area, but conveniently they do have a parking lot right next door. Upon walking in, I'm so amazed at the ambiance of this place. It is spacious, with gorgeous furniture pieces and artwork on the walls. There are dried flowers and other plants all across the place. One of the owners is Amy, and she was there taking orders, she is lovely, we had a great time chatting with her! I ordered a Coconut Latte. They also have a nice variety of other coffee drinks and teas. There is a lovely bath tub, in the middle of the store displaying independently owned skincare products. As well as a wall of more products. What a beautiful way to display their items. They have events on certain days, where a DJ will come in to play some music. I love this idea. My coconut latte was perfection, I was worried it would be too sweet, but it was just right! My friend and I sat on their comfy couch by the window with our coffee and enjoyed this beautiful space! I'll be back here for sure, very soon! read more
