Yemeni Bee Bites
Stef S.

A coffee shop that's actually open in the evening gets my attention by default, but this one keeps it for being so lovely. The Abu Walad latte is delicious, and has this great, combo of sweet spices infused in it. If a latte can feel cozy, this is it. The Bee Bites pastry is incredible, too--a slice of slightly-sweet dough with a cream cheese filling, with seeds and honey added on top. Definitely worth checking out!

I love that there's a Yemeni-style coffee spot local to me! I've been wanting to check it out because I enjoy trying different types of coffee -- and even more, I love supporting local businesses. Everything is made fresh right on site, which you can really taste and smell as soon as you walk in. The menu felt a bit overwhelming at first, but the staff was super friendly and helped me choose. I decided to go with the Mofowar -- and loved it! It's incredibly hot and stays that way, which will be perfect on a cold winter day. I'll definitely be a regular here for my morning pick-me-up whenever I'm in the area.

This is a cute cozy place. My friend lives it here so she brought me here for my birthday. I enjoyed a decadent treat leches cake with my tea.

Wow! What a unique coffee shop. I knew I wanted to try the chai coffee which came in an adorable pot and was spiced to perfection. It came piping hot which is perfect for a cold day. There were a ton of delicious desserts to try. We tried honeycomb bread, rose milk cake and pistachio baklava and all were incredible. The service was friendly and helpful and the ambiance is sleek with plenty of seating. Recommend checking this place out!

Yemerica is a cafe in West Hartford Center serving spiced brews and traditional Yemeni Pastries all made fresh daily. The cafe has a beautiful mural and a private room with spacious seating choices. Staff are all friendly and easy to talk to. A friend of mine recommended this place and said that I must try their bee bites which is divine! Mini rolls filled with cream cheese that has been cut in a diagonal sections and drizzled with honey. The sides of the bites definitely make it look like a honeycomb! The chocolate cake was also rich and yummy. Pairing it with coffee is a true delight! They're at an ideal location, with a few street parking spaces, and plenty of food options that someone like myself can simply sit back, relax and enjoy.

While in West Hartford Center, we decided to try the first Yemeni coffee house in Connecticut! We were impressed by the hand painted murals and nice seating options, as well as the bakery case with sweet and savory options. Both iced and hot lattes were great, and the traditional Yemeni coffee was fun to try. It's nice that they have a room you can reserve for meetings or studying too. We would definitely come back on future trips to the area and are so glad to know of an authentic Yemeni coffee shop!

Yemerica Coffee is my go-to for the best lattes! Always smooth, always perfect.

Best lattes in town! Yemerica is my go-to spot -- perfectly crafted, smooth, and always hits the spot. Love the cozy vibes and consistent quality every time.

Baklava

The perfect solution for a day that included a trip to the walk-in. I needed a drink that was like a warm hug; hug that was a little too tight, and would wake me up. This was that and more. I will be back to try the other experiences on the menu. Food and Drinks I ordered the Mofowar, which was a spiced coffee delight- literally boiling hot. You know when you boil milk and it has that thin layer of film on top? It was that hot, but in a good way. The baklava was luscious, each nutty layer complementing the coffee perfectly. The confections all looked exquisite, the drinks read and looked tempting. Ambience The atmosphere was warm and invigorating. The energy was lively, making it a great spot to lift your spirits without a buzz. Service The service was fine for handcrafted drinks (the wait no longer than Starbucks). Give the big boxes a break. This a must visit.

A solid 3.5 I recently visited this Yemeni coffee shop, and overall it was a pleasant experience. My only other experience with Yemeni coffee was in NYC, where I found it a bit more to my liking, but this spot still delivered a solid cup. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was friendly, which always makes for a nice touch. I'd definitely come back try something different and would recommend it if you're looking to try something a little different.

I like to visit as many new and different types of coffee shops as I can. Yemerica is brand new to West Hartford and specializes in coffee and beverages made with "premium" Yemeni coffee. When I visit a Middle Eastern coffee shop, I know they probably don't serve what I almost always drink -- black iced coffee or cold brew. The closest they usually make is iced Americanos, which are essentially iced and watered down espresso. This is true of Yemerica. So I'll review Yemerica for what they are, even though I'm unlikely to return since they don't make what I drink. Yemerica is on the Western edge of WeHa Center. I arrived at 7:40 am and found street parking out front. There were no customers inside. Especially in light of the price point of the coffee and the fact that they just recently opened, I was surprised at the indifference the Yemerica crew showed to my entry. No warm hello or smile. No "is it your first time here? Can we answer any questions?" A lost opportunity to make a positive first impression. The atmosphere inside is a lot better than it first appears. My eyes were first drawn to the area where you order and where they make coffee. That area is more functional. When I visually explored the space, I noticed very cool full wall art of what I presume relates to coffee cultivation and a Yemeni city scape. There is seating to accommodate a number of customers. Some of the seats looked more comfortable than others. Yemen has a claim to being one of the first cultivators of coffee for drinking. You've heard coffee called mocha? It's named after a port city in Yemen that was vital to the early coffee trade. Yemeni coffee is known for its earthiness and richness, and chocolate and spice flavor notes. Yemerica offers a number of beverage types. Americanos made with double shots of espresso. Pour overs. Spiced coffee. Hot and cold lattes. Refreshers. The least expensive hot coffee option seemed to be a 12 ounce Americano for $5.65. The least expensive 12 ounce lattes cost $6.20. The least expensive cold latte was $6.95 for 16 ounces. Since I couldn't get an iced coffee or cold brew, I decided on a 20 ounce Kunafa latte for $8.95, which is made with pistachio puree. The Kunafa latte was very good. With the early sips, I was met with a rich, chocolatey espresso flavor. My later sips featured a delicious milky pistachio flavor. I don't plan to abandon my iced coffee habit or regularly buy coffee beverages at this price, but it did feel like a premium beverage. Yemerica also had pastries and treats. They looked worth exploring. Weighing the service, price, drink quality, the exclusivity of the Yemeni products and atmosphere, I'll rate Yemerica 3.75 Stars, but the service was about 2 Stars. If you're selling premium drinks at a premium price, you need to provide a premium experience. I hope that Yemerica is able to elevate its service game very soon, while they're still making first impressions.

Nutella cake

I've got mixed feelings about Yemerica. As just about every review has mentioned, it is expensive. I spent about $40 between three drinks and a dessert. I tried three drinks: Iced Interstellar ube latte, passion matcha, and the abu walad. Ironically enough, the abu walad (the only hot drink I got. I'm an iced girl!) ended up being my favorite. Come to find out, the barista switched my drink and I was actually drinking the dolce de leche latte. I get a matcha just about anywhere I go but I do not see myself trying their matcha again. The drink was definitely passionfruit heavy, and overly sweet, which resulted in it tasting more like a Matcha lemonade. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the interstellar Ube latte did not have a hint of Ube in the taste. If it weren't for the purple color, you could convince me that this was a regular latte. I got their Nutella cake dessert which comes in the cutest acrylic box. Although it was tasty, the $10 price point did not feel worth it. The space is beautiful and bright because of their large windows, and I loved the artwork on the walls. Service wasn't really friend. I don't plan to return soon but I think it's worth checking out.

I came here the day after Christmas 2024 with a friend and there was a line almost out the door. However, the line moved fast and it gave us time to check out the drink menu board as it was our first time there. We were greeted with a smile and placed our orders. The only negative was that the sun was blaring from a side window right into my eyes as I approached the counter. I had to shield my eyes as I ordered and I noticed others doing the same. A light window covering is needed. We were given a beeper so we could go sit at a table and wait for our drinks. I noticed lovely Middle Eastern music playing at a reasonable level. When our beeper went off, we went to the counter and retrieved our drinks. My pistachio latte with oat milk was frothy, creamy and delicious with a hint of sweet pistachio flavor. My friend was very pleased with her hazelnut latte as well. Both drinks had the typical cute heart/ leaf pattern in the froth. The decor was warm and inviting with various exotic coffee pots on display. It was bustling with happy customers enjoying their drinks and baked goods. I will definitely be back as I am interested to try other unique menu items.

Adeni chai and sabaya

We really like this spot for hanging out and good chai. They have a private room you can book which is so great for intimate gatherings. The chai tastes really good and comes with warm cups so everything stays warm. The dessert variety is great, they have cakes and cheesecakes and also baklava. I've tried the pistachio latte and it's good but the adeni chai is best. Note that the prices are quite high for the lattes but I think the chai is a great value. Highly recommend.

The drinks and atmosphere here are good. I liked the adani chai, but it's not as spicy/flavorful as other chai lattes that I've had.

New Year's Eve dinners/New Year's day brunch specials, in my experiences, have always been a cash grab by restaurants where you would get a decent meal but always leave hungry or the opposite where the price was super extravagant yet food was mediocre at best. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE!!! Food was amazing. Chicken was spiced and fried to perfection. Crunchy without being greasy. I refuse to eat fried chicken in public yet almost human eating this with people around. Juicy meat, 4 piece of half breast, wing, thigh and drummy all meaty. Sides of picked pepper mac&cheese and Cole slaw. My wife tore into that coleslaw like her life depended on it and was everything she's been looking for in a slaw Breakfast burrito was packed full of goodness, substantial. Side of potatoes which could've been a meal in of itself. $19 and well worth it. Brought half home for breakfast the next day. All in all, not only was their value in the prices offered throughout the menu, the food is incredible. Service was amazing. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, good eye for when we needed something without us having to ask. Perfect start to the new year and aching to come back for dinner. It was worth staying home NYE and falling asleep early in order to be fresh and ready for this dining experience.

The place looked spacious and with a lot of light, it looked clean and they seemed to have a nice selection of wines (for those that like it) , they were displayed for people to see, which I thought looked very nice. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and I found it odd that there was only 1 restroom for the size of the restaurant. Our waiter was nice, he took our order and we were excited. The food took a VERY long time, we were starving, and we had kids with us so that wasn't good. Some of our orders were wrong and so unfortunately we had to wait even longer for the right meal. We didn't order alcohol but we did older a couple of mocktails. I was SUPER excited for them because that's something I always appreciate at a restaurant. I'm sad to say that they were AWFUL!! straight up syrup, not bubbly (some were supposed to have soda in them) not sweet, simply not enjoyable at all, I ended up switching it for a simple club soda, I figured it was a safe bet. When my food came out, it was ok, I had the avocado toast, and it was forgettable, my sister had the chicken and waffles and now THAT was the meal to get, it was large in portion and that chicken was beyond tasty!! My other sister has the lomito sandwich with the chips and it was good, something missing but she enjoyed it. The rest of the food were burgers and they were ok, the kids had burgers and Mac and cheese and they were not tasty according to the children's disinterest in barely touching their food (and they love cheeseburgers). I'm always willing to bypass certain things as long as customer service delivers BUT unfortunately they fell short. We were celebrating an engagement and so we were all very happy and in a great mood, when suddenly workers around us were cleaning up the neighboring tables, and even sweeping very close to us. We thought the place was possibly closing? (Even though it was only 2:15pm). I asked if they were closing and they said that they close the restaurant from 3-4 so their employees can go eat .... I'm not against giving them a break BUT, it really felt like they were kicking us out, we felt pressured to eat fast and wrap it up, not a good feeling, when you are in the zone of happiness. It was our first time there so, I would have appreciated if they would have informed us that the restaurant takes a little break in between and then we would have decided if we wanted to stay or go elsewhere. They did bring a little dessert and 2 mocktails for the newly engaged which was nice, I'll give them that. Overall, I don't think the food and experience was worth me coming back or recommending this place, I'm sure there's other much better places.
