Stopped by on opening weekend and it was such a cute place. Great vibe, very cozy with some tables, option to sit at the bar and a coach with chairs. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and greeted you upon entering. They have a nice little selection of books to buy- including choices for a "Blind Date with a Book". They had some cute Wicked Press merch and also had some cute items for all us book lovers out there! ( bookmarks, bags, stickers, coffee mugs..) The coffee was delicious, and they had a good variety of choices for flavors ( 3 sugar free as well - vanilla, caramel and hazelnut) and choices for milk as well. I didn't try the tea, but look forward to next time. They do not have "food", but they have some pastries that I didn't have the opportunity to try They even have a selected book of the month that they are using to host a monthly book club you can sign up for! ( if you buy the book at the shop when you sign up you get 10% off the book)

Small cozy coffee shop, not quite a breakfast place Grand opening of a coffee shop not that far away from one of my go-to coffee shops. Had to make the trek to give them a try. The inside is decorated nicely. They want this to be a cozy place to relax and it does just that in the deco. The staff were very green, which is to be expected with a grand opening. I opted for their wicked debut latte, which is nothing like their wicked latte on the regular menu. It's a hazelnut, caramel, and chocolate for the debut while their wicked latte is maple syrup and vanilla. Got it hot and large, so 16 oz. The actual latte is not bad at all. Little heavy on the sugar but the flavors are pronounced. Coffee gets lost in the shuffle, but it's because of the style of drink and how most prefer their coffee drinks now-a-days. I also decided to try the chocolate croissant. I believe it to be sourdough due to the tang on the pallet. It's a little too bready for my tastes, and the chocolate feels like a piece of a not so great candy bar. The cafe doesn't actually make their bakery items, they source them from another local bakery. So although the croissant wasn't great, it's not really their fault for it. To me, the breakfast options are an afterthought and not the focus. As a coffee shop, they have enough variety in their drinks and offer a chill spot for those looking for a place to read and take a mental break. There's a lot of competition in the area springing up quickly and well established. They have a niche, but will need to make sure that everyone knows this is the coffee spot to go to when the avian place is packed and you just want a quiet spot to take the day at your own pace. Right now, it's pretty good as is. Just plan on getting food someplace else and get your coffee here.

This place just opened so I wanted to check it out. There was plenty of parking in the plaza. The ambiance inside is cute and cozy. I liked all the displays of books, merch, and decor. I even found a new book to read. There is not a lot of seating indoors. For coffee, I ordered a hot cafe mocha and it was generally good. It was average for what you can get from any cafe but nothing to write home about. They had some punny specialty drinks that I would try in the future. I would go back for the overall vibes.

The newest kid on the block... coffee shop on Sullivan avenue opened just a week ago, I had to come check it out. It's already become a popular spot among the locals. A unique blend of a bookstore and cafe. This place is a magical sanctuary for book lovers with a selection of new and used books available for purchase. What stood out for me was the "Blind Date with a Book" package...such an interesting concept.... the element of surprise unwrapping a concealed book, of course in a genre you like. Love it!! A perfect spot to curl up with a cup of coffee and read. The menu highlights the usuals but the standout ...blackberry sea salt latte....with a hint of salt coming through every sip.Yum!

"I walked in, the baker said everything was sold I found out…read moreshe saved me some sweet jelly roll Yes, the baker shop boogie" (Willie Nix) Since we're friends, let me ask you a personal question--so tell me this: what's your official dessert policy? Are you a "dessert is a human right" kind of person who enjoys something sweet every night after dinner? Do you ceremoniously pair your evening coffee with a treat like it's a sacred ritual? Or are you more of a free range snacker who grazes on cookies and pastries whenever the mood strikes? At our place, we've somehow drifted into the habit of having a bakery item most nights. Could be a cookie. Could be a pastry. Could be a slice of something. All this brings me to yesterday's visit to the Hartford Baking Company in South Windsor, where we are now pretty well stocked for a week's worth of upcoming desserts, and maybe a breakfast or two. They have four locations in the Greater Hartford area, all selling the same amazing product line of bread, ciabatta, and rolls. But for the sweet tooth fiends out there, well get psyched for their scones, muffins, Walnut Coffee Cake, Financiers (a French almond cookie), brownies and bars, cookies, biscotti, shortbreads, Danish, Cinnamon buns, Pecan-Walnut Sticky Buns, Brioche Pastries, fruit tarts, and quiches. We were running errands in South Windsor yesterday, popped into Hartford Baking, and walked out with a bounty of wonderful looking goodies- brownies, a croissant, a chocolate banana muffin, a rectangular Financier, and a slice of coffee cake. We should be set for a while in the dessert department. I had the Financier last night, and never having heard of the word before, I consulted the old Google machine for some research and found a very cool origin-story. In the late 1800's there was a pastry shop located near the Paris Stock Exchange. The shop sold very popular small almond cakes that were baked in small rectangular molds resembling gold bars. They were a hit with the busy bankers who frequented his shop. The name "financier" stuck because of both the clientele and the gold bar shape. I have to tell ya, that Financier was amazing. It was dense and delicious and overflowing with almond flavor. I loved it. I also had a teense of the Banana Muffin this morning, and it was excellent as well. Loved that banana flavor and those chocolate chips. OK, so file away "Hartford Bakery" on your short list of "must visit" dessert destinations, because I assure you that you'll walk out a satisfied customer.

"Round and round With love we'll find a way…read more Round and round What comes around goes around" (Ratt) If you were ever driving around Connecticut with a hankering for a really good bagel, the odds are very high that you satisfied your hunger with a Between Rounds bagel. They have storess in South Windsor, East Windsor, Manchester, Vernon, and Tolland, plus dozens of Big Y, Highland Park, Geissler, Price Chopper, and Shop Rite supermarkets. Their modern and very comfortable store interiors have the feel of an upscale bakery or café, so it's a great place to sit and unwind with homemade bagels, muffins, wraps, salads, lattes, frozen drinks, and more. The bagel choices have all your favorites (and a few more) like Blueberry, Cinnamon Raisin, Egg, Everything, Onion, Plain, Poppy, Pumpernickel, Sesame, Whole Wheat, etc. The bagels are pretty big -the one we had with cream cheese and smoked salmon last night was five inches across, so a half was enough. Yesterday I picked up a big bag of assorted goodies including an amazing looking Cheddar Bagel with tantalizing jalapeno slices. I have to seriously ponder what's going on that beauty! Any suggestions?

My eyes suddenly grew five sizes, and I was immediately ready. Thank goodness for our supervisor for allowing us to venture like this, when it was nowhere near lunchtime. Hasta Luego Friend is an adorable, tiny, green coffee truck. Evy is the owner, she is equally adorable with her manicure that matches her mobile and her beaming smile, making it obvious this is where her passion lies. I got the Coquito Latte. This is a coconut latte. It's not just made with coconut syrup, it's got actual pieces of coconut, with each sip of the straw. Then it was topped with cinnamon. This was so delicious and unique. My coworker got an iced coffee, and we got a strawberry refresher for our boss! There's a huge assortment of individual stickers you can take with your purchase, and some of them gave us a little chuckle. They also have some seating available outside, complete with umbrellas. We were all so pleased with our drink and coffees. Evy's service and product completely deserve five stars.
