This 75-acre farm opened as a U-Pick farm to the public since the 1980s. There are about 15,000 apple trees which are no more than 6 feet tall due to the way it was planted. They planted it this way so people can reach it when the fruits are ready to be picked, genius idea. They also grow peaches, plums, nectarines, blueberries, various vegetables, and Asian pears. We went in September for apple picking. The parking lot was spacious, a nice farm stand, a patio area, and a picnic area. This year, apple picking started on 8/31/2024 and ends in late October. You have to check in at the window to purchase a ticket; they give you a bag and ticket for a tractor ride to the apple orchard. The farm stand has donuts, ice cream, cider, slushie, and a cafe. The tractor ride was fun; you can buy a ticket just for the tractor ride alone for $5 or $18 for a bag and tractor ride. We waited about 30 minutes for the tractor; it was the last tractor ride of the day and it was a busy Saturday. We went late in the season so most of the apples were picked over. We were able to get a bag full though. The property was amazing and the view of the hills from the orchard was lovely. After, we sat at the picnic table area and which had fire pits too. They had toys for the kids and there was live music. We tried out their hard cider (4-pack $24) and it was good. Overall, it's a fun place to do a fall festivitiy. read more

Apples were hit or miss. A lot of areas apples were already past prime and it's still September. Very expensive. $20 for very small bag that includes ride to field. Other two riders were $5 each. Restaurant for breakfast was good. Told that request for hollandaise on the side was not possible. When asked why were told "it's just not possible" and walked away. Having said all that. It's a pretty setting, but there are other places with better choices and prices. read more

Saturday was such a great summer like day. I went apple picking at Bushy Hill Orchard! This is such a beautiful family owned Orchard. Depending on when you go, you may find blueberries, peaches, and currently apples to pick. They have a tractor to drive a group of around 20 to orchard, or you may exercise your legs a bit. Apples are $14 for a bag of 7 lbs. They have 15,000 apple trees, they had tons and tons of red empire apples to pick from. I may have had one while picking. These apples are crunchy, fresh and juicy! In addition to the apples they had the most beautiful assortment of velvety looking mums for sale! They were 4 for $20, and I got 4. My car was so packed of goods on the way home! They also had some beautiful llamas and goats just enjoying the sunny day! This is a beautiful Orchard with plenty to offer. They also have a bakery and a cidery I still need to explore! read more

Great venue for open mike night on a Saturday night . I couldn't believe that the place wasn't more packed. The menu was diverse and our dinners were delicious . We look forward to trying more menu items. A very diverse option of dessert items available. The staff was very nice. The only choice for a cocktail type of drink was hard cider which was twice the price of anywhere else. It was ok , but not worth 8.25 for a such a small mug. Unfortunately it was really hard to find the place in the dark , there is no lighting on the road sign. Our friends gave up on trying to find the place . The entry was was treacherous, a series of stone steps and no lighting....lawsuit waiting to happen. Leaving in the dark it was impossible to see where you were going so I recommend bring a small flashlight with you. All in all a nice venue ....just bring a flashlight . read more

This is not just an orchard, it's also a cafe, bakery, cidery, and petting zoo! We started with breakfast in the cafe and I enjoyed my waffle. Their cider is extra spiced, which I wasn't a big fan of but was still ok. For apple picking, there are 2 size bags to choose from. You take a tractor ride to the orchard area. The day we were there, there were a lot of apples that we've never heard of and it was interesting to try. On our way out we also got apple cider donuts which were freshly made and delicious. There was once an orchard that not only had excellent views and a great atmosphere but the best French toast ever. Why you may ask? Because the French toast is a hybrid of an apple cider donut. My husband and I came here on a Thursday afternoon in mid September to pick our own apples. First time to pick apples! We started by getting an apple cider donut sundae. The donut is nice and crisp on the outside, and - yummy soft cake donut on the inside, with a slight apple cider taste, plus cinnamon sugar on the outside. And then we picked peach ice cream which was a little icey and not creamy enough in my opinion. The donut is the must! You can also add toppings ( Oreos, gummy bears, sprinkles, etc) and caramel or chocolate syrup and whipped cream. Then we moved on to the pick your own part! You can buy a yellow bag for $8.75 and it covers admission for 2 people plus all the apples that fit in the bag. When we weighed our bag at home, it was 4.5 lbs of apples, which is basically $2 a lb for apples. A red bag that fits a bushel of apples covers 5 people and was around $28. You get a short tractor ride to the orchard and they have signs on which rows you can pick apples on. This time we had 4 apple choices: JonaGold, JonaMac, Macoun, and Cortland. We took about 45 minutes in the orchard. When we got back from the orchard, we bought an apple cider slushy $2.75, so delicious!! You would think a day of apple picking during New England fall would be fun and relaxing but unfortunately this was not the case. My sister mother and I took a bumpy ride up to the apple orchards and were sorely disappointed by the amount of "do not pick signs" we were greeted with amongst the rows of apples. The only options for picking were macoun, empire, and autumn sunshine. The apples tasted sour and not at all ready for picking. We went inside to quickly get some apple cider donuts and were instead left to wait in line for 30 MINUTES while the one girl behind the counter wrote down food orders, handled payment, and grabbed baked goods and drinks for customers. I saw some other workers in the back "preparing food" but not once did anyone come to help this girl doing all the work. I have never waited in such a long line for baked goods in my life and should have just left. It is unbelievable to me how an apple orchard could have so few staff members working on a busy Sunday afternoon and made for a horrible experience. We will be heading to another orchard next time for decent apples and wait times for baked goods. read more

Place was dead today, almost no one there. We picked up a salted caramel goat cheese and a jar of salsa. Great place for brunch. Farm to table in the most literal sense. This is the perfect place to take visitors and kids, visitors because Bushy Hill Orchard is pure New England, and kids because being on a farm provides enough entertainment to let the adults enjoy brunch. There are also wood cut outs for kids to pose with. You can sit inside or on the roomy porch. Nothing beats farm fresh eggs and bacon. I also recommend the cider donuts and apple cider. One of my favorite places to go in the fall. You buy a bag and go pick your apples off trees that grow like vines so they are easily retrieved. They have a tractor ride up and plenty of apples to choose from. We loved the McCouns and Garnet Spys. So many choices. Then in the store itself. They have wonderful Farm to Table breakfast that has huge portions and really good food. The scrambled eggs were slow cooked - the good kind. And the eggs benedict with duck was delicious - and I'm not even a big fan of that dish. the pancake was enormous and really good batter. The downsides? The back was nothing to speak of and the service can be a little slow (but they do warn you that they are not a regular restaurant and waits can be long). The system for ordering too can be slow too. But overall, really enjoyed the breakfast and the visit here. The prices are a little high but the quality was good. Worth a visit in the fall for sure. read more

We come to Clark Farm every year for picking fruit. It's usually a great experience. I feel like they've become a tad too focused on the restaurant side of business recently and less on the farm experience. The tractor dropped us off today in front of rows of nearly empty apple trees. It was about 2:45pm on a busy Sunday. We did call the U-pick line before arriving and it mentioned 4 types of apples. It also says to check the website, which does not actually have any picking info other than hours. We purchased a large bag for $35 and the gentleman did not say a word about the quantities being low. If we had known, we wouldn't have bought such a large bag. We spent over an hour searching all over the orchard for decent apples that weren't rotten and for rows that weren't closed. In years past, we could fill a bag in 15 minutes at this peak of apple season. So many of the rows either were empty or rotted. It's really disappointing when you follow the directions, check ahead like they ask (the voice recording isn't exactly friendly either - basically tells customers to not call because they're too busy, aka leave us alone), and bring an excited young child to pick apples only to find that there is little out there for you. The ones we were able to get were not great. They really should stop selling the large bags after a certain point in the day if the quantity doesn't justify it. Survey your fields throughout the day. A few weeks ago, someone asked on social media whether the rain this summer has negatively impacted the crops. The farm replied that the apples are great this year. Not true. At least not the two weeks we have tried. And I wouldn't fault them for Mother Nature, but be honest about it first of all and then set expectations. Don't say everything is great and continue to bring people to near empty trees with rotten fruit. I wish this farm would shift some attention back to their fields instead of trying to be an amazing restaurant. I don't come for the cooked food. I come to show my kid about agriculture and enjoy fresh fruit. Hard to do that when the orchard looks dilapidated and he can barely pick. I hate to say it, but we will probably look elsewhere next Fall. read more

We went with a party of three adults and one child this morning for breakfast and left 62. lighter and very disappointed. The food quality and preparation was well below average for the area and I won't even get into the high prices. The eggs /omelets, pancakes and toast were overdone no matter how you ordered them and the hash browns were underdone and mushy - honestly, it felt like cafeteria food. On a bright note, the orange juice they served in a mason jar was good. We didn't get the side of corned beef hash we ordered and when going back to the counter and nicely asking about it, the cook barked out everything was served on the plate. Hard to argue with that kind of customer service. There are many other places in the area that have much more to offer. read more

The food is so amazing that I'm actually typing this review as I sit here eating!! I got the eggs benedict with asparagus (farm fresh) and the best hollandaise sauce I have ever had! The garlic home fries are just the right amount of crunchy and muy delicioso!! My husband got an egg and croissant sandwich with the garlic home fries. He described them as " a little crunchy bits of home fried potato that were extremely tasty!" He took one bite of his sandwich and exclaimed how good it was. My family is loving Clark's Farm's "FARM TO FAMILIES MEALS" delivered to my house!" I've visited this orchard many times in my life (brought Girl Scout's many times to pick apples, tour and have cider and cider doughnuts), but only recently discovered their Farm to Families Meals delivery service. The farm's chef and website updates selections every week & you must order by Tuesday at 8pm. Home-cooked with natural & local ingredient meals are exciting enough, imagine my surprise (just after having a major surgery) to find they d-e-l-i-v-e-r!!!! Go to www.bushyhill.com and click on "Farm to Family Meals" to see the numerous surrounding (and a bit further away too) towns they will deliver to. The price is not cheap ($11-14 I've seen so far), but the ingredients are top quality and the portions are generous! My daughter and I get two or more meals out of our "plates". The meals arrive in individual portion & microwaveable containers. They offer catering-sized trays as well. Have questions? First, let me say I am aware that they have only been open a short time. And that as a local there's nothing I would like more than for this place to succeed. It has the potential to be something special. BUT... in order for that to happen the owners need to greatly improve upon the quality of service and cooking. From the moment we entered there was an atmosphere of confusion. We ordered the corned beef hash w/ poached eggs and a pancake with garlic home fries and eggs over easy. So, the corned beef hash looks like it was mass produced in China... small cubes of corned beef that were very tough matched with small cubes of potato... NOT HOME MADE. Sausage was mass market, not local. Eggs were poached correctly and the toast was bone dry. Stringy hash brown were so dry that it felt like eating tumbleweeds. The pancake was excellent but the eggs over easy came eggs over HARD. No liquidity to the yolk. Garlic home fries were okay. And the overall service, while not rude, was distracted... not sure why they had to take every bill into the back and add it up, then come back to have us pay but it was very confusing as they had a people milling about waiting to pay or get change while taking new orders. My kudos to the two boys (age 12-5) who were serving the food and clearing tables. They were the only ones who looked like they knew what they were doing. So... I plan on coming back a few more times to try other items over the summer. I know they are new to this and I hope to see things improve as they gain experience. I would also like to see some local pork products offered and would pay the extra for them. And I will certainly be looking to forward to the farm fresh fruits and vegetables as the season progresses. read more

Ever since the new ownership took over the prices have gone up 2 to 3x of what they were. I also miss the old couple that use to own it, they were very kind but I know it was time for them to retire. the new owners have definetely fixed the place up, serve ice cream again, the bakery is going but the prices are a little high. We use to pick rasberries but last year the prices doubled and the container went from a pint to a half pint on top of that. read more

Great time! After speaking with a well informed employee, we found out that this farm could have been a) a cemetery, b) condominiums c) goodness knows what! The Clark family may have prevented all of the above by purchasing the orchard in 2010. They have about 15 (or more) varieties of apples on their orchard along with a veggie garden, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries in the spring... As for U pick, we found pricing to be exceptional. up to 2 people may pick to a smaller yellow bag, up to 5 on a larger red bag. Two of us out of our group of 5 people wanted to go up into the orchard and pick, we all wanted to go up into the orchard. We thought that we could all go for the price of the smaller bag. After finding out that there would be a fee for the additional 3 people of $4 each for the wagon ride, we happily purchased the larger red bag, we all wound up picking apples and we were very happy to comply. We understand that farming is costly for owners. To have this local farm is a true treasure. Their costs, we are convinced, must include a payroll, unemployment, workers comp, liability (for the public) to name a few. We spent at least 3 hours on the premises, saw a beautiful sunset at the end of the day, saw some pretty cute resident goats along with a miniature horse named "Magic" who had been rescued the week before our visit by the owners of Bushy Hill Orchard - talk about compassion! "Magic" is 18 years old and has special needs!! We support this local farm and will return time and time again. read more

Echoing JC our experience today was also awful. I realize they are running a scam. That's how it works: Before you go picking your apples you have to buy a bag. They have two available: a smaller yellow one for $7.50 and a bigger red one for $26. We chose to get two small yellow ones for a total of $15. BUT, once they geve me my bags I realized that they were smaller than the one they put outside. So, smelling the scam I went inside to return the bags. Their answer was: SORRY NO RETURNS!!! You can only imagine my reaction. NO RETURNS????? So I asked to talk to a manager. This woman comes out the back all mad and angry and she asked what was the problem. After I told her what was the problem she did not believe me. So I took her outside and I showed her how the bag outside was bigger than the one the had given me. Once confronted with the evidence she started yelling at me saying that they have to make money, that I was a trouble maker etc. and she took down that bag. Stuck with the bags I decided to go get my apples and to be fair I have to say that their apples are fantastic and 40 minutes later we were back form our apple picking. On our way out of the farm, guess what we saw? THE YELLOW BAG WAS BACK ON THE WALL!!!! Based on that I can definitely say now that they are running a scam stealing money from people overcharging them and cheating them of their money. There are plenty of orchards out there just stay away form this one. BTW the most offensive thing in all this experience is the way this woman treated us. Rather than apologizing she called me a trouble maker simple because I caught them in their scam. read more

We're fairly new to the area and used to going to the Litchfield area for apple picking, not many options around here. Anyway. Got my ridiculously small $10 bag after the teen boys behind the PYO window were taking crap about my 4 year old son and I getting there at 4:30 to pick (sorry...you have a half hour left, we only took 5 minutes to actually pick since there were only 2 of us and the bag was tiny anyway). We also first wandered among dying trees aimlessly because we weren't told we have to be taken out via tractor, so went in to the cafe girl to ask where the trees with apples were (wasn't going to ask the peanut gallery at the PYO window). Just be aware...people can hear through the glass. Be respectful. All you had to do in that moment you were on the clock is hand me a bag and take my cash. Variety of apples was actually good. Only 2 types but it's late in the season. Trees were trained to be low and easy to pick. Apples are yummy. The price of the bags is ABSURD though (I see it used to be $7.50 and went up to $10) and those teenagers really p***ed me off. May not bother again due to those 2 factors. You get an extra star because the trees that had apples had a ton of apples, and they're good. read more

This was the worst apple picking experience ever! It is a little late in the season but they had barely anything and what they did have was damaged. They sold us 3 bags to pick with and we could barely fill one. They would not give us our money back for the other two. We were even willing to use credit in their store. It was unethical to sell us the bags knowing their orchard was picked clean. There were several other people who came back from the orchard with unfilled bags. The worst part was the horrific manure aroma when we got to the orchard. Way worse than any farm I have ever been to. We will NOT be returning. read more
