Fore- Chicken Fried Steak, Hash Browns, Grilled Biscuit, Soft Scrambled Eggs with a side of Country Bacon. Aft- Eggs Benedict and Home Fries
Scott I.

Have lived in the area for 18 years and ate breakfast here recently for the first time. It was a recommendation through a Facebook posting comment. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience. We arrived to find a waiting list, we showed up mid Saturday morning, so no surprise. No place to stand or wait for more than 4 people and it was occupied. We were informed they will text us when ready. The car was the perfect place to wait on a cold, drizzly morning. Wait time was minimal. Service by rendered by a young but well-seasoned and friendly staff. I was impressed with how well the waitresses worked together to know when and how to cover each other's tables and customers. Menu had an array of comfort-inviting dishes. Homemade corned beef hash was an option, that will be my next trip. I ordered chicken fried steak, gravy and biscuits, hash browns with soft scrambled eggs with a side of the extra thick country bacon. The hash browns are what I came to try, I was not disappointed, almost as good as Waffle House. A good breakfast eatery knows how to do soft scrambled eggs, many don't, ending up with mostly overcooked eggs. SH did mine perfectly. My wife ordered eggs Benedict with home fries, she said the eggs and hollandaise was prepared to perfection. There are many things I want to try from their menu, I will certainly be back here, I can't wait to try their corned beef hash. Where I live in Ellington, this is conveniently located in my backyard. I have driven by it hundreds of times and never gave it a thought it never looked like much from the outside. I need to stop judging places by their covers. (SMH, can't believe I just discovered this place 18 years later)

Trying a new breakfast spot. Will have to try some French toast

Better experience, still needs just a little polish. Wandering around on an early Tuesday, ended up back here. So decided to try again. The server/cook was jamming to some rock in the back. He starts me off with a coffee and I look through the menu. Didn't have any preference, so I asked the cook to cook me up whatever he wants to make me. 5 seconds later, he comes out with a single slice of white bread on a plate. This guy...I like. He goes back into the kitchen and whips me up what he was going to make himself for lunch. A ham, egg, and cheese on a croissant with some loaded breakfast tots with some Polynesian sauce. It looked really good, so i was very happy with the gamble. I'm terms of a sandwich, it's really good. The croissant is soft and buttery, grilled slightly but not overly charred. The Cheddar cheese was mild but flavorful, didn't overpower the dish and gave it a nice cheesy sharpness. The egg was hard cooked, so it was solid but a little too form for my liking. The ham was grilled and not overcooked. But the dish needed some seasoning. Some salt or some butter to elevate the flavors a little bit. It's well composed, but needed something more to punctuate the flavors. Something to bump up the umami if the ham and cut through the richness of the cheese. The loaded tater tots needed a little longer in the grease, they were a little cold in the middle. But I informed the cook of this and he offered to refire them for me. I declined, couldn't eat it all. The polynesian sauce was very close to chik fil a's version. It reminded me a bit if thousand island dressing with a little more sugar. Pretty good, but very sweet. Price cane out to 18, which was not too bad for a random order. Overall, I'm much more pleased this time around. Still not trek-worthy, but a very solid option for the area

Driving by and stopped in for an impromptu brunch. Initially the wait was to be 10 minutes but we were seat after about 5. I ordered the western omelet which comes with home fries and toast. She had the 2 egg sandwich with sausage. Both entrees were out in minimal time and pretty good. The server was attentive and a pleasure to have helping us. The atmosphere is very small town and comfortable. I nice spot in the country part of the area.

We love to go out for breakfast and it's always wonderful to find a new place to add to our list. Sunny House will definitely be returned to! It's right on Route 5 and across the street from East Windsor High. Nice, clean comfortable sit down restaurant. Good service. Coffee was good/strong- the way I like it. I had cheese omelette with a mix of cheddar & American. Perhaps because I was extra hungry, it was really delicious. Paid additional $1.50 for fruit ( than potatoes) - very good.

Happy with this place! We showed up around 8:30AM and were pleasantly surprised that there was plenty of parking and that we were able to be seated right away. Lots of choices for the breakfast and lunch menu. I had the steak and cheese omelet with home fries and sourdough toast. The home fries were cooked with onions that were almost caramelized and had a light French onion flavor to them. Definitely my favorite home fries yet. The decaf coffee was very good here. The place is cute, too. It's clean and has a nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back next time I'm visiting my mom.

I really loved this place ! It was our first time here, my husband and I , for a late breakfast... 1 pm . Very friendly staff and we were seated right away. We got our coffee . And then placed our order. I liked their menu options for breakfast , a little bit of everything. They had 3 specials for the day, which I like. And I looked at the lunch menu for another day , and I really liked what they had to offer . I can't wait to go back!

OK. We needed to find a breakfast joint in Windsor where we were meeting some friends from MA. I am not familiar with the area so of course, I checked Yelp. Sunny House came up with great reviews and a simple breakfast menu. I went in with no expectations, just to meet some friends for breakfast and would get something simple like eggs. I decided on the two eggs (over easy) and bacon which came with toast and home fries. I was oddly blown away. With simple breakfast food you don't expect much tbh. I don't know what it was, but the bacon had such a distinct flavor. Like it was fried. I can't put my finger on it but it was amazing! The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the home fries were nice and charred. Only regret is I didn't ask for hot sauce! Everyone else in our group felt the same way about their meals. The staff was friendly and they were very generous with the coffee refills (I think my husband had 4 cups in total). If we ever find ourselves back up north, we'll be back!

Had breakfast here last week with my family. When we got there you check in and they had you wait so they text you when your table is ready. The actual wait was about 20 minutes faster than what we were quoted so that was a plus. We ordered a western omelette, French toast, kielbasa, pancakes, veggie omelette, and sausage egg and cheese sandwich. All of the food was good. Everything came out hot and tasty. The omelettes were stuffed and had a nice amount of filling. The home fries were well seasoned which is a big deal for my husband lol. The staff was friendly and they seemed like they worked as a team. I would definitely go back.

Philly steak omelette with extra steak. If you're keto this will work(sans the potatoes and toast)! I ordered it with a side of avocado

Upon entering, we were greeted, seated, and given coffee almost immediately (they have very nice cups with their logo them). Breakfast covers all the basics, and as you might expect from their name, they have a fairly large selection of pancakes and french toasts. The pancakes are quite large, and the flavored ones are often (but not always) based on the toppings. We were surprised not to see a breakfast combo on the menu, so we asked our waitress. She indicated that there was indeed a combo, their "Hungry Man/Woman" plate, which featured 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon one sausage patty, home fries and a choice of 1 pancake (Hungry Man) or piece of French Toast (Hungry Woman). Our Hungry Man orders came out very quickly, but even so our coffee cups were refilled twice before that! This was good, if somewhat basic, fare, though I'm sure the specialty pancakes, omelets, benedicts and french toasts have some interesting flavors. Besides refills, we were cheerfully checked on frequently. Locals know the value here, as there were numerous obvious regulars having breakfast and coffee at the counter.

Mon to Sat they open at 5am. I was only 10 minutes away from 6 but I figured they look like a place I'd want to eat at anyway and fate brought me to this awesome establishment. Upon entering it's not too bright and not too dark especially for this hour. The place looks immaculately clean. It's your typical diner feel just a little more modernish with the color scheme inside. Two breakfast bars and the rest booths and tables. Round stools at the bar for seating. The waitress greeted me and I just sat at the breakfast bar. I got a a coffee to start, nice med - dark roast. Not burnt and tasted freshly made, good quality Java to wake you up. Better than Dunkin could offer lol. For my breakfast I decided on the Crazy Good Hash and a side of sausage (they offer links or patties, I love my patties so that's what I chose). First bite was just amazing. I wasn't sure what to expect .. I low key was just thinking it would be the stuff from a can like other diners use but no.. you will not get that here. It was legit fresh corned beef... griddled with hashed potatoes .. it was light and flavorful, crispy crust and soft interior. Not drowning in sodium like the can stuff. The corned beef really just melted in your mouth, so juicy and tender just like a properly cooked corned beef should taste. It was just amazing and I was completely blown away. Paired together with high quality eggs and perfectly toasted with butter toast, there was not one bite left. I couldn't stop eating it. I was almost sad with my last bite .. but I was about to explode anyway since it was a very generous portion. I'm just a glutton when it comes to good savory foods. The sausage patties were great too .. nice crispy and juicy, good flavor profile, not herby like some .. I don't like those but these were great. Please come give this place a try and go for the Crazy Good Hash and Eggs. You won't regret it.

Made the trek to this little diner to give them a try. The space is small but spacious. Lots of two seat tables and a small bench. Place is cash only, so make sure to hit up an atm before going. Servers were very attentive and friendly. Made multiple coffee refill runs. The coffee is diner coffee, functional but not great. I opted for their French toast bake special, cause I'm a sucker for a good lost bread. No ice cream, so had to do with whipped cream. Had real maple syrup at an upcharge, but could get a half sized version for cheaper. Food came out quickly, took pics and dug in. The bacon was crispy, only a couple lighter spots towards the ends. Whipped cream was from a can, functional. The actual French toast was very well done. Custardy, not very sweet but consistency was on point. Berries were good, but not very noticeable in a full bite. The syrup really helped in getting that true French toast bite of savory, sweet, and warm custardy tastiness. Needed a little more cinnamon and nutmeg in the egg soak to give it flavor throughout, and coated the fruit in sugar or lemon juice to amplify the fruit sweetness. Price wise, was pretty affordable. Everything came out to about 17 bucks which was a good price for the quality offered. As a meal, it was a rather tasty dish for the price. It knows it's a diner style place and they take the same corner cuts that diners usually take. But this makes them a very good choice for locals to get a good breakfast. So I don't trek here for their offerings, but for the area they are a great choice.

Decided on French toast with real maple syrup and biscuits and gravy. Food came out quick especially with the crowd. Everything was cooked, the French toast was okay. Not soaked enough, toasted with butter but not a lot of cinnamon in the dredge. Not great, but very functional. The biscuits and gravy were very much a northern take on the southern classic. Grands biscuits grilled on the flat top with grey goopy gravy on top. Very lackluster. The staff was very friendly, and the price was very cheap. Even with the golden delicious branded syrup upcharge the bill was only 12 dollars. Which is very affordable given the quality was not so great. As a generic diner, it does basic dishes well enough. There's not a ton of breakfast spots around, so it does well as that local greasy spoon. Doesn't need to be fancy, cause it's one of the few places in town and they are serviceable. I wouldn't drop by on my travels, but if you need cheap eats then this place will fit the bill

"I walked in, the baker said everything was sold I found out…read moreshe saved me some sweet jelly roll Yes, the baker shop boogie" (Willie Nix) Since we're friends, let me ask you a personal question--so tell me this: what's your official dessert policy? Are you a "dessert is a human right" kind of person who enjoys something sweet every night after dinner? Do you ceremoniously pair your evening coffee with a treat like it's a sacred ritual? Or are you more of a free range snacker who grazes on cookies and pastries whenever the mood strikes? At our place, we've somehow drifted into the habit of having a bakery item most nights. Could be a cookie. Could be a pastry. Could be a slice of something. All this brings me to yesterday's visit to the Hartford Baking Company in South Windsor, where we are now pretty well stocked for a week's worth of upcoming desserts, and maybe a breakfast or two. They have four locations in the Greater Hartford area, all selling the same amazing product line of bread, ciabatta, and rolls. But for the sweet tooth fiends out there, well get psyched for their scones, muffins, Walnut Coffee Cake, Financiers (a French almond cookie), brownies and bars, cookies, biscotti, shortbreads, Danish, Cinnamon buns, Pecan-Walnut Sticky Buns, Brioche Pastries, fruit tarts, and quiches. We were running errands in South Windsor yesterday, popped into Hartford Baking, and walked out with a bounty of wonderful looking goodies- brownies, a croissant, a chocolate banana muffin, a rectangular Financier, and a slice of coffee cake. We should be set for a while in the dessert department. I had the Financier last night, and never having heard of the word before, I consulted the old Google machine for some research and found a very cool origin-story. In the late 1800's there was a pastry shop located near the Paris Stock Exchange. The shop sold very popular small almond cakes that were baked in small rectangular molds resembling gold bars. They were a hit with the busy bankers who frequented his shop. The name "financier" stuck because of both the clientele and the gold bar shape. I have to tell ya, that Financier was amazing. It was dense and delicious and overflowing with almond flavor. I loved it. I also had a teense of the Banana Muffin this morning, and it was excellent as well. Loved that banana flavor and those chocolate chips. OK, so file away "Hartford Bakery" on your short list of "must visit" dessert destinations, because I assure you that you'll walk out a satisfied customer.
