Very disappointed. I had three meat scramble home fries and rye toast. The toast was great, the eggs just a touch too salty and the home fries so overly salted they were inedible. Kathy's French toast was okay with the glaring exception that the "Texas" toast must have walked to CT as it appeared to be regular sandwich bread. The fresh strawberries were fresh and quite good. Ice Tea (unsweetened) and a Pastrami and Sauerkraut Quesadilla (where cultures collide) sure hit the spot! All around me, locals chatted about their sports team, the weather, and other news of the day. A police officer sat at the counter, where two local highway crew joined him for a "slice." Met a friend midweek for lunch. Not busy at all. Large selection on the menu. Some items seemed a little pricey. Pizza prices were confusing. Ordered a cheeseburger. Nice and pleasant waitress said it was a 5 oz patty. Asked for lettuce, tomato and onion. Took awhile to arrive. Bun was cold. One slice thin cheese wasn't melted. Burger was the size of a slider and gone in two small bites. It came with a few pickle slices and a small bag of chips. Cost-almost $9. read more

From what I learned, Papa T's is a town staple. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but from the inside it feels like an 80'd diner. If your not local I suggest you sit at the bar and try the local soda with all kinds of flavors that range from pineapple to strawberry or grape and of course you can't go wrong with trying the local cola. During my time in Connecticut I visited Papa T's twice. The first time I had the broccoli cheddar soup of the day and a side of one meatball. Hands down the best broccoli soup I've ever had and can't forget to mention that it's huge and filling on its own. The meatballs are as home made as it gets. In fact they reminded me of the Catbone meatballs except these have a $3 price tag and are bigger and yummier. The second time around I knew I could only order one thing because it was going to be a lot of food no matter what so I decided to try the chicken parmigiana with grape soda. Once again, best chicken parmigiana I've ever had in my life. I think you can go wrong with ordering anything at this restaurant - including a slice of Pixar that looks like half a pie! read more

This review is based on the STYLE of the pizza, not what we thought of the type we received. THE FOOD: -I started with the stuffed bell pepper soup which was good but I probably wouldn't order again. It was more like eating oily marinara sauce with stuffed bell pepper ingredients than it was an actual soup. Very home-y taste though. Good flavors just not my favorite. -my partner started with a tossed salad. Not really much of a toss to it (see photo) but he said it was good. Balsamic dressing was good -Buffalo chicken pizza...so I have some issues with this pizza. We went back and forth on the mild or hot and settled on mild which the waitress told us it was the hot but with "a little bbq sauce mixed in". I'm not a huge fan of straight up bbq flavor but it seemed like it was just to cut the spice so I was fine with it. Unfortunately, what we were served was straight up a bbq chicken pizza. There was nothing that even resembled Buffalo in the sauce. Looked like bbq, tasted like full bbq...really not any hint of Buffalo whatsoever. I also overheard the waitresses saying the hot was just Franks red hot which, for folks who like spicy, wouldn't even be overly hot. So, if you want Buffalo chicken pizza and not bbq chicken pizza get the hot. -This was our first time here and other than being disappointed in the inaccurate sauce, we really liked the crust of the pizza. I will definitely go back to try a regular pizza. I also want to try their breakfast as the images of eggs Benedicts looked delicious. Where is it, that you can think of that has the best pizza? It's Italy - Napolitano (oje-ne scugnizzo) it's New York City (Eeyy I'm walkin' ova here for my dolla sliczze) or Chicago (Des, Dem, Doez Deep Dish- which in my opinion - kinda sux, sorry). I've had darn good pizza from New Haven to Newburgh - New England pizza isn't in the pizza war and I'm not taking sides anymore - born and bred in New York and I never posted a Best Pizza in New York video on YouTube - if which they're is about ten thousand and counting (also, all of which su_). Why don't they talk about the shape, the burn (it's proper char!), the cutting - it's dirty it's pretty - but everyone singing the same old song and dance - Portnoy can drop dead - I'm so sick of that guy. Papa T was adjacent where I scored a hundo of gas and texted my friend of my location in New Hampshire, but I was apparently in Massachusetts - compliments of a 16 hour drives lack of attention to direction details. Subway & Burger King were packed, Papa T - desolate, tumble weed rolling by - "that's where I'm going" I knew it instantly. Break the corporate chains, break the corporate greed, break the corporate ingredients, break the mentality. As soon as I was a step inside, jokes were flying - people were smiling - not gonna get that at The Bigs. Two regular slices and a bag of the best potato chips I've ever had that went by the name of Stateline. Crumbs on plate, sometimes on the lap after The Fold, check, I love that moment. Cheesey and neatly melted across the surface, gave chewing resistance but broke it's hold with a little extra bite pressure. We use to get pizza here years ago before COVID and it was excellent. However, I don't know what changed, but we got pizza there the other night and it was AWFUL! The crust tasted like frozen pizza. The sauce, cheese and toppings tasted stale and dry. My wife and I had one piece each from a large pizza... we threw the rest out for the backyard critters. Great local spot. Would not have found without Yelp, so thank you! I stopped in during a gas/rest stop on the road from NYC back home to Maine. I ordered a lunch special of a chicken/mozzarella and tomato panini to go for the road. While waiting, I surveyed a delicious array of baked goods near the register. If I had been a dessert buying person, I would have definitely picked up one of their jumbo Reese's cup cookies, or rice Krispie treats! My panini came out pretty quickly, and I was wrung up with a smile! It was delicious and full, a little bit drippy for a car ride, but I had lots of napkins, so no problem! I stopped in here for a late lunch on a Saturday with my boyfriend and was excited to see that they did pizza by the slice. I saw that the slices were ~$3.50 for just cheese ($0.45 for toppings) which I thought was a bit pricey but then when the slices came out it made more sense. They were huge! One slice was definitely enough to make me full. I got hamburger and broccoli and was not disappointed at the crispiness of the crust. I'd say it could have used a hair more sauce but honestly it was a solid slice of pizza. A great surprise! The service was quick and friendly and there was a parking lot outside. Driving from Boston to Hartford, we needed a quick stop for lunch and this place is right off the highway. The food is delicious and the service was exceptional. The four of us shared a pizza and two pasta dishes. The portions are large, and the pasta dishes, which come with a salad and bread, had a nice, simple, taste. But this restaurant seems well run and our server, Jamie, was very friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of. We overheard other customers talking to each other about how they love this place and I can see why. read more

Overall great place. I went with some friends, and one of the servers named Jill was very nice to us. She even let me hang up a picture on the wall! The food was really good and I got a salad and the dressing came in a like ketchup bottle so I could put as much or as little as I wanted which is a definite yes in my book. As a local I always try to find myself a local pizza/sub joint. Move into this town had me on the search for another. So I stop at Papa T's. I ordered two Chicken Parm Subs also known as grinders, heroes, hoagies, whatever else you call it in your region. I got large ones knowing that usually two large Subs takes us across a couple of days but little did I know that the Subs here are about as tall as I am. Not only was it huge, it was delicious! The perfect amount of cheese and bread. I wish I would have taken a photo but I just was probably so in awe that I forgot. I can't believe I never wrote a review for Papa T's! I've been here to breakfast every visit to Storrs area to see my Uncle. I get the Blueberry Pancakes. Every time I go I swear the Pancakes get bigger and bigger. My family all get their breakfasts and we eat for about $12.00 each person with tip and tax included. The servers we have had are very nice.They are eager to accommodate special diets and requests. Coffee refills are free and they keep coming!! It looked like they reupholstered and brightened up the place since we visited in 2015. Clean fresh new seats in the booths. We love the wall decor. Italian settings in black and white photos adorn the walls. It feels like a family tradition to make one visit to Papa T's each time I'm there. We eat so much that breakfast that we don't have any desire to return until our next CT visit. They certainly don't skimp on the portion size! If you're ever in the neighborhood go to Papa T's. They have a lot of other food choices that I can't speak about. We only have breakfast. The most important meal of the day! read more

I discovered this place a few months ago and it's right up my alley. Really good food and super cheap! My go to is the buffalo chicken panini and the pizza is fantastic! Kind of a NY style and the slices are HUGE. Waitstaff is super friendly. A small little place, they do it old school and write down all the orders so that annoying printer sound doesn't give me flashbacks of working in a busy kitchen haha I live in MA and wish I had a place like this near my house, but whenever I'm down in CT for work I always stop by! Their breakfasts can't be beat. Omelets served anyway you want, eggs always perfectly over medium as ordered. Friends love the corned beef hash, which is prepared extra crispy. Home fries with great seasoning, I ask for them done crispy for which they are always accommodating. How can even toast be special? I'm not sure but somehow it is. The breakfast sandwiches are incredible, I recommend the egg, cheese, chorizo, and sautéed onions on a hard roll. Their grinders are HUGE and very good. My dad and I had a great breakfast here. My dad tried the grilled salmon oscar special with asparagus, eggs, home fries, and toast. It was delicious. I had to of course try the cinnabun pancakes. They were a childhood dream. Although a little pricey at $7, completely worth it. I mean really, where else are you going to find pancakes like these? The pancakes are a regular pancake swirled with sugar cinnamon goodness and topped with a cream cheese icing AND it comes with three of them! Although I can't speak to the other food here, the breakfast we enjoyed was solid. On family trips up to New Hampshire, Papa T's is *always* the midway lunch-and-pee pit stop. Nestled in a mini strip-mall (Exit 68 off I-84) in Tolland, it's the perfect place to have a quiet lunch. The waiter service is lovely, the prices are great, and the food is yummy. My "regular" there is the BLT, which to this day other New England diners have yet to match in quality. The decor is clean, yet slightly artsy; there are mini paintings spaced nicely around on the walls, and pretty empty wine bottles on display with flowers on shelves to give a bit of a vintage look. In the back by the bathrooms there are old-fashioned signs hung up - like old Pepsi or chicken ads. Cute touch. And don't forget to check out their placemats for word games. Being a puzzle-whore, I actually took a placemat home with me once, because I was so engrossed in a wordfind and didn't want to leave it behind. But that's just me. :) My only two gripes about the place are 1) they serve syrupy RC Cola instead of Coke, and 2) that they can't seem to serve normal pickles. I mean sure, the pickles come with the meal as a side dish (along with potato chips), so you don't HAVE to touch them...but it seems that a frightening number of diners across the country can't seem to serve tasty and crunchy pickles - even though they're all from jars anyway. They usually taste like sad, limp pieces of squish, marinated in cat pee instead of proper brine. Ick. So feel free to take a test bite if you're brave (hey, it MIGHT be a good batch), but I think you'll generally want to leave your pickle slice mostly untouched. Anyway. Other than those minor gripes, Papa T's is definitely a worthwhile pit stop on a long trip (or lunch spot if you live nearby). read more

I got tator tots with my scallops I don't remember the last time I had them as you never see them on a menu. The food was very good. We do plan on finding our way back. I have always loved papa T but recently I think it has gone down hill. Over the past 3 months, I have gone 10 times and 6 of the times, my take out order has been incorrect. They always fix their mistakes, but it is frustrating to have to wait an additional 20 minutes for the order to be fixed. One day, I ordered a turkey sub. It was packed with turkey and it was amazing. About a week later, I got the same exact sandwich and it only had 2 thin slices of turkey and had tomatoes on it, after I requested no tomatoes. read more
