Fun Station is a hidden gem and worth a trip during your visit to Honolulu. We decided to come here after getting off the plane and was pleasantly surprised at the price and quality of the food. We were craving the braised pork belly and quickly realized this is the spot! The pork belly was extremely soft, tender, and packed of flavor. The only way to do it right is to get the flying noodles! The noodles are perfectly cooked, balanced with sauce, and presented in a fun way to really enjoy your meal. We called ahead to make sure there was room because we had a large party and they were great in picking up and answering us. We arrived and was seated promptly. They also came by to take our order really quickly. They were friendly and they had cute decor. We ordered a whole bunch of food that was good. They also told us in advance if anything was spicy which was a nice change. They sold out of lemon tea, my husband had the last cup and he said it was amazing. He wanted one to go but too bad. Note: A true tell of how legit a Chinese place is...is if it can make a Beef Chow Fun, which isn't easy. But this place actually nailed it, in my books. From the color, the wok flavor, the balanced soy seasonings, the wellness / crunch of the sauteed onions (btw, Hawaiian onions are the best!) to the amount of oil used. Check, check, check. Just perfect! Next was the Flying Noodles. I didn't realize that the noodles were served 'mid air.' This dish is NO gimmick. It's actually quite good. Tasty. To boot, there were all these pickled mustard greens, extra sauce and julienned cucumbers and fried peanuts that was a total changer that I didn't realize until we were half way done with the dish. Felt like the filling was not really shrimp, and had more of the egg/filler. While it was good, I was expecting it to be like a crispy gyoza or a dim sum har gow. I don't think I'll order it again. Lastly came the flying noodle dish. The server explained how to separate the chopsticks from the bowl.. and to mix it very well. I loved how smooth and chewy the noodles were. I'm not sure when they started adding frozen mixed vegetables, but it was easy enough to scoop the vegetables out before stirring everything up. If you don't want the picture they can make it in a regular bowl for you and it will be much easier to stir. The only other dish I would order is the wonton soup with brisket. We were surprised with the large chunks of shrimp in the wonton and the tenderness of the brisket. With the noodles and soup, it's a homey, comforting dish. You can order your items online or the server can take your order. Same for the closing out process. If you have a peanut allergy, you want to tell your server beforehand because some of their dishes have peanuts inside. Luckily the server understood the severity and I'm still here to tell my experience. The menu is pretty simple and easy to navigate. And you don't have to wait too long for your food. The flying noodle dish was interesting, in that the sauce is more of an oyster-like sauce, in which you really gotta mix in there, to get all the noodles evenly coated. I just wished there was just a little more sauce in there, to go around. The soup dish was like the flying noodle dish but with a broth. The noodles were cooked perfectly in both dishes. I would come back here. Seeing the flying noodles depicted in the Yelp reviews, I sent a suggestion to a friend and it was agreed, we both wanted to try it. We both initially ordered the Beef Scallion, but the server suggested a new version of the flying noodles--Shrimp Curry. Take out the phone and snap the pics! Then pull the chopsticks and the noodle collapses into the bowl. The bowls are a little small for all the goodness inside, so I mixed slowly to get the sauce dispersed evenly over the noodles. We tasted each other's. Yum. Both were tasty. I liked the peanut flavor combined with the coconut yellow curry. The beef was marinated well with bold flavor. Both my friend and I could not finish our bowls. A great locally owned restaurant in Market City. I've been here several times and I feel like I have so much more to try. They're famous for their flying noodles (which I highly recommend). The presentation is iconic and it's sweet/ sour/ salty with pickled veggies. The veggies help cut the savory flavor. They're kind of like crispy pork chops from other Chinese restaurants. It came tossed with a sweet sauce which elevated it. I could eat the whole plate if left unattended. The beef chow fun was alright. It was a little on the greasier side. Coconut shrimp was nice and crispy, but I personally am not a huge fan of the flavor profile. Overall, I like Fun Station and I will be coming back. They're a little more pricey than the standard Cantonese restaurant, but they have fusion dishes that you won't find at more traditional restaurants.
