1st time at fogo de chão and it was a pretty decent experience. My other had a tomahawk on the Himalayan salt block and I must say this enhanced the flavor of the meat. It sizzled and cooked so the parts that were rare were still juicy and tender. I, on the other hand had the full experience. Unlimited options of steaks, chicken and lamb. Let's start with the staff for the most part they are very engaging and informative and set the tone for a great dining experience. The only reason that I wouldn't give the staff a five is the female bartender was just sour for some reason...She made a good drink however the experience was just unwelcoming which is a a key element for sitting at a bar. I was one of a party of three and the other reason why the service was not a five -- it seems as there was a shift change, and we were never notified which I believe caused several delays and gaps, specifically related to the baked cheese that I literally asked for five separate occasions. After the third time it was more request on principle to see if it would actually come. I was a bit miffed to see that a table across from us (they came in at least 30 mins after) were each served cheese and honey drizzled upon request...we got the bowl with honey on the side. The food. The marketplace offers a great variety of items. It's like a keto paradise in terms of pairing with the right variety of proteins options available at the table. Overall, the meats were cooked very nicely, it allowed each of us the space to salt and pepper oh r food as desired. I went here on a Saturday night and it was poppin' (busy)! It was just my daughter (11) and I so despite it being busy we did not have to wait for a table for 2. To our disappointment, there was no kids menu. I got the Market Table & Feijoada Bar. My little one got chicken sliders and fries, which of course were not on the menu but our server verbally gave a quick list of items kids may enjoy that they offer. The Market Table was very nicely presented with a fine assortment of exotic veggies while the warm ambiance of fire roasting the meats in the background just behind the Market Table somehow just took it up a level of authenticity. The Feijoada Bar was great, the meats kept coming and it was always so hot, fresh, and tasteful as you would expect. As the evening moved into the "peak" hour for dinner, the service fell off significantly for us. Our waitress, I think her name was Erin, disappeared. The refill I asked for never came. By the time she resurfaced, she forgot about it, nor did I want it anymore since we were done eating at this point. I was stuffed! I could not force my myself to finish the last serving of steak I received nor was I allowed to take it out with me since I had the Feijoada Bar. I guess folks could take advantage of that just to take home to feed another mouth! But, it'd been on my plate and I had been fiddling with it trying to eat as much a I could from it. Thursday night and this place was pretty busy! The decor inside is very nice- ambiance was nice and you wouldn't even think this place was inside the Garden State Plaza. Our reservations were for 7pm but had to wait for all the guests to arrive prior to being seated, which was fine- gave me the opportunity to look at the bar and their salad buffet. First time here and first time experience was mediocre. I was in a group of 5 (all adults) and we were waited by a younger individual who didn't seem to be interested in his job. Period. We greeted us without telling us his name, asking us if this was our first time dining with us, offered his recommendations on drinks, or explained anything on the menu. Essentially, he was good at taking our initial drink orders and that was it. He came back with the water we requested and proceeded to ask us for our orders by addressing each one of us by the color of our shirts (I.e.: you in the black shirt, how about in the gray shirt, and over there in the back). Has it been long since I've gone out to eat that even addressing people by 'sir' or 'miss' is no longer appropriate? When I thought the Churroscco experience was too much meat for me, I ordered their 'entree' to which our waiter said ' they just come and cut you a piece of that specific meat'...which threw me off guard because there was no convincing me that the whole experience was clearly better than just ordering an entree. When I finally decided to change my order, he gave me a 'wise choice' kind of look and walked away. Although he wasn't rude, I was taken aback by the lack or enthusiasm that took place during this initial process. After our order was taken, the group sat around not knowing whether plates were supposed to be given to us or we get our own plates by going to the salad bar to grab some food. We looked around to see what everyone was doing and figured the salad bar was part of the experience. The salad bar in the middle of the restaurant had an array of items such as cheeses, salami, olives, veggies, rice, and beans for you to choose from. Great idea as your pre-appetizer/veggies to pair with your meats. I personally wasn't crazy about it being buffet style but the selection was ok. Just a lot of waiting around for the person before you to get what you need. We walked back to our table and the meats started coming shortly after. Every meat we had was delicious! The concept of flipping the card to red/green is great and having the meat cut right in front of you was even better. The pieces were a good portion and those who were coming around was attentive to those who asked for their meat cooked a specific way (rare, med rare, etc.). Something must've happened with our initial waiter because we ended up getting catered to by another gentleman who was AWESOME in refilling drinks, providing clean plates, asking if another beer is needed, asked if everyone was doing ok and so on. We had a few different faces that came and asked us how we were doing to which we said fine - we're not complainers and our initial waiter seemed to be new or just totally lazy because he was definitely getting scolded by his teammates. Anyway- the experience was fun and the food was delicious, but the one waiter definitely took off some brownie points. For a restaurant that's this nice, that specific waiter should take more time to understand the process and study his teammates better. Or just quit if you're unhappy. I won't let one person interfere with the rest of the team because everyone after has been nothing but awesome and attentive. We're not a group that asked for a lot, but the expectations for the restaurant was high. Do I recommend this place? Yes. I came here twice to this establishment - once for lunch and once for dinner. While the lunch experience was excellent the dinner experience not so much. I know they opened back in February and its only been a couple of months since they opened but I felt that they also struggle with inexperienced or lack of staff. Dinner started off being seated promptly - the issue began when we didn't meet with our server for over 15 minutes. Actually another waiter came to us and almost delivered the wrong drink to the table. What irked me even more was he wasn't the first waiter I've made eye contact with - none of them bothered to check in. They offered me free dessert as an apology but I didn't use the offer because I found their desserts lacking. Now onto the food - its your usual Brazilian Steakhouse experience - for me personally it is my FIRST Brazilian Steakhouse experience. I remember eating at Fogo in Rio and it was amazing! So Fogo will always holds a special place in my heart. Their salad bar is excellent with many options to choose from. Their meats are hit and miss - my favorite is the picanha. The time I went to lunch the meats were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The 2nd time I felt a lot of the pieces were over-cooked and dry. Drinks are amazing - this place has all day happy hour. Stay far away !! My family and I were extremely disappointed with their service and quality of food. $73 /pp is not worth it. It's obvious that these servers are trained to bring over the cheapest meats several times to get you full. We were offered drum sticks and chicken w/ bacon multiple times. I had to request ribeye, lamb and picanha (top sirloin). And when they approached you, they all had attitudes. More so, you have managers secretly monitoring each person at each table, making it creepy and annoying. Bartenders need to learn how to make drinks. Top sirloin was cold and hard to chew. But most of all, after paying a $800 bill, a manager approached us, asking us to leave so that they can seat others. Disrespectful and never coming back. Everything was almost good but it never quite got there. The steaks were cooked perfectly but almost all of the cuts were dry and bland. My favorite was the house special picanha. It was the most flavorful and juicy. The self serve station was also just ok, mostly there to fill you up. They offered a salad section, some cheese and meat cuts, and other veggie sides. I walk this mall a few times a week, and today I noticed Fogo had a sidewalk sign promoting an all day happy hour and bar bites. My buddy and I decided to give it a shot for lunch. Maybe total tables seated and 3 females other than us at the bar. We sat at the bar, greeted by the female bartender. She got our drinks and took our lunch order. My Buddy ordered the burger, i ordered the Filet board, and lamb lollipops. About 18 minutes later my friends burger comes out, he said it was pretty good. I look at the bartender to be like where is my food? She it would be coming out in a few minutes, which I found odd that a medium filet would take that long...but ok. 5 minutes go by I keep looking around, nothing coming out of the kitchen towards us. I go up to host desk where I see a gentlemen standing there. I ask if he was a manager. He stated yes, I asked if he could check on my order since it has been about 25 min for a lunch order. He seemed annoyed but said sure. Went back to the kitchen and about 7 minutes later my food came out. It was LEFTOVER filet pieces cooked (reheated to) well done, and the lamb lollipops were well done as well. No apology, no nothing. I was SHOCKED that it was not a freshly cooked filet. It seemed like it was a reheated piece of meat left over from there all you can eat service. I didn't feel like complaining again but this was the most unexpected and ridiculous thing I would experience at what is supposed to be a mid tier restaurant. They need to train the staff better. 2. Food is average/below average. Service: I had a reservation for 5. The host looked confused and brought us to a block-off section. I have been to the Fogo de Chao location in Manhattan a couple of times before and enjoyed the experience. I was excited to hear that they would be opening up at the Garden State Plaza. My party all opted for the full churrasco experience which is when servers come around and serve you different types of meat off a skewer. The churrasco experience also includes a buffet of vegetables, deli meats, etc. The food was very good as was the service. The restaurant has a very upscale vibe to it. Unfortunately this is also reflected in the pricing. At $65/person Fogo is definitely not a bargain. But I suppose you're paying for the ambience. It also felt like they were trying a little too hard to upsell my party on things. We were repeatedly offered drinks and more premium cuts of meat which of course are extra. It was nice that they offered but it felt like they kept selling after everyone in the party politely declined. All in all it certainly was not a bad experience at Fogo by any means, and I would not mind going again. However, if your #1 priority is food above all else, you can find similar quality food elsewhere for a fraction of the price. I had visited Fogo de Chao for a late Valentines Day dinner. I made a reservations online for Friday night. It was a fairly late reservation but thankfully I had called and they were able to take us a little earlier. We arrived and checked in with the hostess and was seated immediately. The restaurant gave off a very fancy lounge vibe and a nice large bar area. We were warmly welcomed by our waiter Johnattan and took our drink order. He also recommended the Brazilian drink Caipirinha. And I went with the strawberry hibiscus Caipirinha. It was super refreshing. Johnattan as well told us about the churrasco and the servers will come out with the variety of meats. We also had a card that would need to flipped over so they knew to come to our table. And then said to help ourselves to the market table. The market table has many delicious sides such as a variety of cheeses, cured meats, salads, vegetables, rice and beans-- and so much more! Once we got to the table we flipped our card and the servers started to stop by. There was a wide variety of meats from beef, pork, chicken, and lamb. All the meats were delicious and cooked perfectly. The servers as well asked how we liked our beef cooked to offer a piece cooked to our liking. There was not one that stood out for me as I had enjoyed every meat that was served. The servers came pretty frequently too. We also were brought out mashed potatoes, polenta, caramelized bananas, cheese bread, and their chimichurri for the meats. Overall I had a great dinner. The food was delicious! The service was great. Johnattan checked on us frequently throughout our entire dinner. He also gave us some recommendations of his personal favorites and said to try the tomahawk next time-- will def be back for that! The restaurant just opened so of course there will be some kinks that need to be worked out with service but it will just get better from there. I will DEFINITELY be back again soon! This was my second time there but first time on a weekend and the service was horrible. Our drinks took over 25 mins. My husband asked for a beer and the waiter brought him a caipirinha. I think my waiter left half way through my meal and he never brought out our potatoes or water and we couldn't say anything about the caipirinha because we never saw him again. The last half hour the only meat they brought out was lamb which we said no to at least 10 times but nothing else was coming around so we asked one of the girls who was cleaning up for the check. Very slow service for a Saturday when when went , definitely understaffed. The men's room was horriific and very nasty. We were here on 11/18. Shocked at the amount of critical reviews here. Have been a long time fan of Fogo de Chao, been to many of its locations in different cities, and this one is another hit. My boyfriend and I were SO ecstatic that a Fogo de Chao was opening so close to us, now we don't have to commute to the city or White Plains to enjoy one of our favorite restaurants. We've been to the Paramus location multiple times now, and service here is always top tier. From the main guide for our table to the gauchos cutting the meat and to the customer service/manager that rounds the tables to make sure we are satisfied. If we don't see a certain cut come by, we request it and they always make an effort to bring that cut to us fresh out from the kitchen. They are always quick to refill our complimentary side dishes and offer a second drink. Last time we went, my boyfriend and I requested a second round of the cheese with honey, and they gave us an entire plate filled with it. We've even sat at the bar one time and the bartender provided great service as well. Salad bar is always a hit. Anyway, there's too many haters on this page. Keep being amazing Fogo Paramus! In addition, on more than one occasion upon ordering additional cocktails, our cocktails were taken away before they were finished, including a table side drink that was offered for an additional charge that was not disclosed to us at the time. We were additionally "offered" shrimp cocktail table side mid table side service of the meats and was not advised of the $27 dollar additional charge at the time of ordering. We were initially seated at a very low booth and asked to be reseated. We were subsequently seated at a table near the bar, which became very uncomfortable as the bar area became crowded with people waiting for tables. First let me say that I love FOGO! I went with my two pals for my birthday. And left very underwhelmed with this locations meat selection. It was not at all the experience I have come to love. While there were multiple table touches by people asking how things were. I will now say here things were not great. Our table saw the same meats over and over again. The variety was not existent on a busy night. While the cuts we saw were good. There was no asking of how we would like our meats temperature and many times the meat arrived overcooked to our liking but we felt we needed to get something. When I come I expect to have each cut come to the table along with the grilled cheese and ribs. I expect the whole experience and that was not what I got tonight. Overall, the service was overly present and the meat service was lacking. I have had wonderful experiences at this locations but tonight I felt I got the " paired down" experience for my birth day and I am not sure I will be come back anytime soon to this location. read more

So I've been to a Fogo de Chao before and don't get me wrong the food is good. The problem is when you come to an upscale restaurant with upscale prices you expect it to be extraordinary. I have to say our experience today was ok and also not worth the price. We usually go to Newark to eat Brazilian food but we wanted to celebrate my father in laws birthday so he always wanted to try Fogo. Now my in laws are Brazilian so the bar is going to be set high. Fogo did not deliver. 2 people at our table for the single cut option for picahna and they barely came by with the picahna skewer. When they did come by they cut for one or 2 people and then disappeared, not even asking others if they wanted any. The options that they offered for meats were limited and only came around with the flank steak after everyone was full. We asked for chicken hearts because of course you need chicken hearts at a Brazilian rodizio but they didn't have them. My wife asked every waiter until they said they would defrost some. Buffet choices were good but the meat was just ok. The staff were not very attentive and the experience was just not worth the price. read more

My cousin recommended I try Fogo de Chao. He often goes to the White Plains location. He's been to this location and said it was better than Fernandes. So my buddy and I drop in for some lunch to see what it's about. Good ambiance. Service was friendly and the salad bar has a nice array of selections so that is a plus over Fernandes non existent salad bar. The first meat they brought us was a "Skirt steak" or so the "gaucho" claimed. Definitely not skirt steak. It was flank. When my friend mentioned it to the floor manager she stated we were wrong. She said it was bottom sirloin. Well, at this point im unsure of what it is, but all 3 of us know what it isn't, Skirt steak! Our waitress asked if we wanted to ordered drinks and told us that caipirinhas and select drafts were on happy hour special. Great. We saw caipirinhas were $10 on the regular menu, so why not. The highlights of the meal (to me) were the picanha, the cheese with honey, and the polenta fries. Most of the other meat selections were subpar and lacked flavor. When the check comes we notice they charged $10 per caipirinha. When we mentioned it and told that we were told it was happy hour, we were told it's happy hour all day every day. So basically, there is no happy hour. I was going to give three stars but the fact you are making a blatant attempt to bamboozle customers by stating it's happy hour and the menu price is what is being charged, is my reason for two stars. I have to say, from start until the very end of our experience, service was amazing. Our water glasses weren't empty for more than a few minutes before someone came and refilled them. The food was very good- we got the full experience and let me tell you - when the card is flipped green the meats do not stop coming! My son totally enjoyed himself and even tried a few new things here _which says a lot because he is pretty picky! The salad bar was nice. Had a charcuterie set up as well as many salads and sides, plus fresh fruit. My favorite cuts of meat were the lamb chops, lamb steak, and the top sirloin as far as flavor and tenderness. My son tried the candied black pepper bacon at the salad bar and said it was really good. He is already planning on a return visit with friends. All in all I say if you're going to choose a restaurant in this mall, this is probably the best choice. The ambiance was beautiful, high ceilings and chic decor, but it wasn't stuffy at all. Great food. Amazing dessert. I was so full. Good value of food, portions etc. if you are a meat eater. My food was fantastic. Group was not happy about random 4.25 charge per person for water but the manager Cat was more than helpful addressing the miscommunication and refunded the charge on the bill. (Extremely helpful). Hear me out, this is my favorite bar in all of New Jersey! First of all, they have the best Carpirinha's. Their bar food menu is INCREDIBLE. I could eat their beef rib or their burger EVERY SINGLE DAY. And the staff at the bar is super friendly and cordial. Now, their in-menu offerings are also incredible...I'm just not a huge fan of rodizio style dining, but if that's your thing, you shouldn't miss it. read more
