We have been here twice since I saw it had opened in Garden State. So far, we found nothing disappointing here! All the meats have been great - all properly seasoned and tender. The sides (plantains, mashed potatoes, cheese bread, and polenta fries) are enjoyable and we lightly pick off the market table to cut the fattiness of the meat but not fill up on it. My favorite cuts so far have been the pork belly, ribeye, and picanha. The lamb and chicken varieties are also good. On one visit, the next table over asked for the cheese - which came out grilled and served with honey - very good! Both times we have gotten slightly different varieties of things. It seems like you can ask for things if you were passed over or they haven't brought it out yet. At the end of our meal, we asked for ribeye and pork belly (ribeye came out promptly but after that and cheese/honey we decided to call it quits and then I saw the pork belly go by). With each dining experience here, we learn something new! We have tried 2 desserts - papaya cream and tres leches, both of which were excellent. The cocktails and Brazilian lemonade are also very nice. Our brunch experience was quite fast paced and it was a little hard to keep up, but dinner was slower due to a busier restaurant. Both times we made a reservation. It is quite a big space and they can accommodate a lot of people so it seems like walk-ins wouldn't be a problem. The price is worth it for the amount you can eat - just be careful to pace yourself and pick and choose your cuts. Brunch and weekday lunch are cheaper than dinner but the cuts of meat are the same. If you are a veteran - make sure to take advantage of the 50% off deal veteran's Day weekend (if offered). I hope they continue to offer this in the future! read more

I wish I could have given it more stars since I've been wanting to come here for some time now. However I can't. Let me start by saying they definitely seat you depending on what you are wearing. We had reservations, got there early. The 3 of us were in jeans, one was wearing nice jeans with ripped knees but unless you were looking you couldn't tell they were rippwd and a nice hat, this is were I say we were seated based on our clothes, we were told we had to wait for a table to clear so while we waited a couple came in, she in a dress and heels he was office casual with a sports jacket, they were seated right away in the main dinning area. We were finally seated all the way in the far right side, poorly lit back room, very smelly corner table where there were two families with small unruly children having birthday parties. We went for the $49/$54 rodizo they advertise HOWEVER that wasn't the case. When we had asked about it because nowhere on the menu does it show the offer, the waitress pointed to two places on the menu one for $74 and the other for $96. We decided to go with entrees at this point. My daughter picked Stake Picanha, and I picked the Lamb Picanha, both were supposed to be table carved 8-10 Oz total meat. If we got a total 3 Oz of each that was a lot. The guy only came by our table twice within the 2 plus hours we were there, each time we each got two things slices of meat. The lamb was horrible, it was flavorless. We were never asked if we wanted dessert and were just handed out check. $300 for 3 people...3 entrees, 1 side and 4 drinks. The floors were so greasy and slippery that i actually slipped going to the salad bar and the women's bathroom was dirty with one stall door broken. 11/11/23 Fogo de Chao had an outside entrance and an inside the mall entrance. Which would allow them to open on Sundays when the Garden State Plaza is closed for the Blue Law. Brazilian rodízio-style steakhouses which means they keep coming with different types and cuts of meat. And they have a salad bar called the Market Table. Keep going back for the various charcuterie, salads, soups and deserts while the wait staff keeps walking around with meat to carve onto your plate. Pina Colada and something with Passionfruit :D They start us off with a plate of Garlic Mash, Maduros, Yucca Fries and Cornbread like rolls. We did not know they would bring all this before we even started eating. The mash was amazing! It's looks simple but has so much flavor. Hubby liked the maduros. The yucca fries were too hard :/ Neither of us liked the cornbread like rolls... too bad it's such a waste of food. I can't have beef anymore :( so I opted to order the Chilean Sea Bass and was told I can add the Market Table to my order, great! Off I go to the salad bar and loaded up on various items. Meanwhile hubby's starts on the meats. I come back with my plate and he's happily chomping away on various MEATS! LOL They just keep coming! He liked the Lamb, Picanha and Garlic Steak best. My Chilean Sea Bass came and it was delicious! I only wished they put more of the salsa! Delicious combination! I loved the potato salad, it was the best item at the bar :D I went back to get the soups, Butternut Squash and Feijoada (black bean stew). I prefer the butternut while hubby preferred the feijoada. All in all it was a fun experience. I'll be honest, we probably would not have gone if they had not given Veterans 50% off on Veterans Day. We just don't eat like that anymore. A nice place for a special occasion. At the current time they had a "best of Brazil" which was a cheaper rodizio option but still had a lot of good meat options. You start off with a delightful salad bar, but don't be TOO tempted and fill up. There are a lot of food sliced meats and cheese options as well as fruits and vegetables so you're not just full of meat. There are also some sides dishes like crispy polenta and roasted bananas that come with it. But the meats are the star. There's a regular rotation of pork, chicken, and beef that's so tender and juicy. Request a different cooked level as needed. And the "WARM PÃO de QUEIJO" cheese bread with a little dollop of honey on top is out of this world. It's really hard to not overindulge, but for an occasion, it's worth the indulgence. "Meatarians" rejoice, this is the restaurant for you! When it was announced that Fogo de Chao would be opening up at the Garden State Plaza Mall, angel trumpets went off in my head because from the previous times I've been to Brazilian steakhouses, including another Fogo de Chao, I've always come away super duper stuffed...and VERY, VERY happy. If your card is turned to the green side, just be prepared for the fast and furious pace of unlimited cuts of steak, beef, lamb, pork, sausage and chicken coming your way. Before you can even sink your teeth into a cut of meat that just landed on your plate, another server with a skewer of steak will already be in your face. To be frank, I LOVE IT. There is also the, not to be overlooked, Market Table as well, which includes a lot of very delicious non-steak items - salads, charcuterie, Mexican corn, grilled vegetables, beautifully cut fruit - but, who are we kidding? Don't fill up on this because you're here to work up a meat sweat! We first visited for Mother's Day 2023 and the restaurant was buzzing already when we arrived at 6pm on the Friday of that weekend. However, we were seated very promptly for our reservation. We were whisked through the elegant, but casual restaurant to our table. Service was solid throughout the evening, but, honestly, there wasn't much service needed from our waitress since the "skewer servers" were really who did most of the work. As with our previous experience at Fogo, the meats were all really good. As expected, the chicken was a bit drier, but the steak, beef and lambs were mmmm mmmmm. I do have a word of advice though - don't let the meats stack up on your plate because they do get cool FAST, so like the saying goes, get 'em while it's hot! We had our 2 kids with us, so the experience wasn't exactly as relaxing as others, but I definitely enjoyed every cut of meat that hit my plate, especially the skirt steak and its crispy exterior. All in all, there's no doubt the restaurant is a bit on the pricey side for a "casual" experience, but you'll know where that money went quite quickly when you turn the card on your table green! This was my second time eating here . I messed up the reservations but there we able to accommodate us on a Friday night with no wait time . Staff were very friendly and regularly came to check in on us to see if we needed anything. First time was during lunch hour , it's about 54 dollars per person not including drinks . Finally got to try the Churrasco experience! The salad bar had various pickled vegetables (with even some super hot peppers), cold vegetables (zucchini, eggplant, Brussels sprouts), and mixed lettuces/veggies and an array of dressings and topping to make your own salad. There were also two soups and rice. Honestly, you can get full on just the salad bar alone! The meats were all delicious - I was surprised at how good the chicken cuts were! Upon requesting, we got sauces but I wish there was a thicker chimichurri - it was very vinegary - but the meats were all pre seasoned so really no additional seasoning is needed. Given that it was a holiday, service was a bit slow - but I'd take that over than being rushed out, which we didn't experience at all. It's a beautiful interior, with lots of space and comfortable seating. Stopped in for Martini and lunch at this beautiful restaurant. This place has ambience and our waiter was very nice. It was lunch and my friend and are not big eaters so we opted for one meat & anything we wanted from the salad station. So the meat waiter comes around and you can have as much as you like of the meat you chose. He doesn't come around that often and we would have passed anyway because the meat was overcooked and tasteless. The salad station has a large variety and I loved everything I put on my plate. I didn't try the rice and beans but it looked good. We had a reservation for 8:30 PM, and even though we arrived on time, we were left waiting for over 35 minutes with no clear explanation or apology. We understand delays can happen, but having a reservation should at least mean priority or proper communication. We felt ignored and not acknowledged. For a restaurant that prides itself on quality and experience, they should show more respect for the customer's time. The fillet mignon was my favorite, very juicy. The lamb chops were also really good. I feel Like half the time the meat was over cooked tho compared to how I like it. I would have to remind them I like it medium and even then sometimes they would give me a piece that was over cooked. It was a nice restaurant overall. I loved the decor and the chairs. Place is nice. Great bar. Great happy hour. I went for the Rodizio. A bit pricey at $72.99 Would i do it again? Hmmmm yeaaaah maybe if i don't feel like driving 25 mins out of my way. I was really impressed by the salad bar. Lots of varieties and really good sides. My fav was the potato salad. Your server will give you a plate of sweet plantains and fried polenta sticks. At least that's what i had when i went i'm not sure if this is the norm but your usual rice and black beans are at the salad bar. As for the Rodizio itself i really enjoyed everything except the garlic steak. It was chewy and just wasn't good at all. They repeated two cuts before they came with the ribeye. By that point i was completely done. I was disappointed they didn't have the grilled pineapple with cinnamon. Again i'm not sure if this is included with the rodizio or not but i was too stuffed for the ribeye and i just told the server i was done. They could've offered the pineapple for a sweet final touch but they didn't. I noticed they do have an up price for lobster, wagyu and bone marrrow. Maybe i'll splurge and add that next time. Speaking of which i ended the day with an espresso and the server suggested i add some Sambuca. I said ok that's fine. I thought they were going to add a little not give me a whole wine glass of sambuca. I poured some into my espresso and it just made it toooooooo sweet. I left maybe 1/4 left of sambuca in the glass. I was kinda shocked they charged me $17.95 for that but i didn't complain i think it was because i was so full i just wanted to leave haha. Fogo de Chao was not fogo (fire). The service and ambiance were great. My drink (caparinha) was great too. Maybe I'd go back for the bar but I wouldn't come back for the food. Unfortunately, the market bar and the meats were not that great for me. I only liked two things from the market bar, the Brazilian potato salad and the fruit. While the meats were seasoned well and the pacing of them was good nearly all the meat I had was dry or very chewy. The best cut was the top sirloin but everything else left me really sad with the dryness of the meat. Usually rib eye is my favorite cut but here it was very chewy. We also ordered the shrimp cocktail and the shrimp seemed over cooked or something because they too were dry and chalky. Can you believe that? Even the shrimp was dry! My favorite foods in addition to the top sirloin were the sides they give. The cheesy bread with hot honey was mmm-mmm yummy. We also got mashed potatoes, crispy polenta and fried bananas. All very yummy. I tried the feijoada (it's like a Brazilian bean meat stew) too which was good. All-in-all just a meh food experience. Another upscale restaurant has joined the upscale dining experience of Garden State Plaza, this time it's an all you can eat Brazilian steakhouse. I loved the setup of the restaurant, nice ambience, huge bar, lots of cool decoration like wine bottle wall and steak showcase. The restaurant has two options, full experience (churizo style all you can eat, $65 per person, drinks excluded) and dine-in from menu options. The goods: - We did the full experience. Lots of steak/meat are served, chicken wrapped in bacon, steak wrapped in bacon, sirloin, ribeye, lamb chops and lamb steak. My favorite was the lamb and ribeye steaks. They give you break, mashed potatoes and couple of other side items - I got the Brazilian lemonade too, it was excellent. The bad: - As an upscale restaurant I wasn't expecting to see bunch of table cloth bags, paper and other stuff lying around next to our table. Some servers were folding napkins on the table across us. The floor around salad bar area is greasy, you feel like walking on oil. I didn't get upscale vibes at all - The skewer servers are still not fully trained. I never got to try lamb chops, the dude carrying that skewer turned back twice, just because he saw one red card one the table, didn't try to check the other side of the table - The salad bar has such limited options. Few cheese, few fruit, few vegetables, and rice. Most churizo I have been, got way more options. The rice was below average, not jasmine for sure. - Once we were done with dinner, one lady came who was in rush to clean up our table. She tried to pull all utensils at once, in the process she dropped a steak knife on the floor. Luckily no one on that seat, else it could have easily stabbed a guest's food. She didn't bother to pick the knife up, nor she sent anyone to pick it up. - Other than ribeye and lamb steaks, I found rest below average. Even though we kept asking for medium, all steaks were overcooked. Overall our dinner experience was mediocre. I have had far more expectations from this restaurant, especially since I have to other ones near them. But happy to see GSP has a churizo steakhouse now, hope they will improve as the staff gets more experienced. read more

I had the pleasure to finally try this place. I went with my sister, niece and brother-in-law. We went for lunchtime and so it was an all you can eat from the salad bar and then whatever your entree was. Now I don't eat red meat or pork so I can only say that my group said it was very good. My fish was delicious. The salad bar had a great variety of items to choose from to build your salad and some items to eat singularly. I didn't have any cocktails but we do plan on returning for dinner in the future. I absolutely loved the ambiance of the place. We had dinner reservations for a group of 7 at the newly opened Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse at Garden State Plaza. It's one of the newest dining additions to this mall, and it is very new with an upscale ambiance, much like their location I had visited in Manhattan. We arrived on time for our reservation, but our table wasn't ready yet, so we waited in the seating area by the bar. Once seated, we were greeted by our server, who went on a rehearsed spiel about their various menu offerings, including appetizers, special orders, and of course, their "Churrasco Experience". The entire group opted for the "Churrasco Experience", which includes access to their Market Table & Feijoada Bar (a buffet), at $65 per person. The buffet had a nice selection of salads, roasted vegetables, charcuterie, cheeses, rice, and beans. The "Churrasco Experience" gets you continuous tableside service of signature cuts of fire-roasted meat. Basically you get a little coaster that is red on one side and green on the other. If it's green, the staff walking around with skewers of roasted meat will stop by your table and offer you some. If you flip it to red, they won't. The meats included in the Churrasco Experience are filet mignon, NY strip, ribeye, fraldinha, Parmesan pork, picanha, bacon wrapped chicken/steak, lamb chops, lamb picanha, pork ribs, beef ribs, sausage, and chicken thighs. I got to try all of them. All were very tender and flavorful. You could get it cooked to your liking, just ask the server for a specific doneness. My favorites were the lamb picanha which had a nice gamey flavor and the beef ribs. The beef ribs were actually made from the short plate, so they were meatier than the beef ribs offered by other rodizio places. Unfortunately, the beef ribs took forever to come out, despite the multiple times we had to ask for it, so our table barely got to try it. The service was good, but they definitely upsell everything. We were offered appetizers and add-ons such as wagyu multiple times. But at the the listed prices, it's definitely not Japanese Wagyu. When we asked for water, the options were bottled or sparkling. But there is a secret third option for tap water if you ask. My only complaints: The floors are super greasy and slippery. This is likely because the staff is walking around with sizzling skewers of meat with the oils dripping everywhere. The men's bathroom had only had one urinal, one stall, and one handicap stall. The handicap stall did not have a lock on it for some reason. The food is excellent and the service is good, but if you're willing to go to the Ironbound in Newark, you can get an equivalent rodizio/churrasco experience at a fraction of the price. The experience at Fogo de Chao feels a lot more commercialized for the masses. But I guess that they are a chain restaurant. read more

My company booked our annual holiday party here. Our scheduled time for the start of the party was 7 but we weren't seated until 7:20. We were supposed to have appetizers on the table which typically are set when on arrival. They weren't placed for at least 30 minutes and there weren't enough for everyone. The party was on the second floor of the restaurant and there was no bartender upstairs so staff had to go upstairs with drinks for 45 people throughout the entire night. The salad bar was downstairs which I would think is a major problem with safety having guests go up and down stairs with plates of food. Also, we weren't told to go to the salad bar for at least 45 minutes after arriving and at the same time they started bringing the BBQ. What little food we were served was very good but I personally had to ask at least four times for the chicken to be brought back since it was only brought around once and several of my staff complained of still being hungry after dinner service. Lastly, they tried to bill us for additional drinks ordered after 10 PM and since we weren't even seated until almost 7:30 I refused to pay. read more

Fogo de Chão was a mixed experience for us. The gauchos came around frequently and offered a good variety of beef, along with one pork option and lamb. Unfortunately, the lamb chops we were hoping for never came by at all, and the ribeye didn't appear until the very end of the meal, almost as if it were sneaking past tables. The meats we did have were quite good, but overall a bit under-seasoned for a rodízio experience. The Market Table was plentiful but ultimately underwhelming. One bright spot was the feijoada, which was surprisingly good and served with all the traditional accompaniments. One person in our party ordered the chicken-only option and had to wait an extremely long time for it to come around, though when it finally did, the chicken was delicious. The gauchos themselves were attentive and on point, but the overall service pace was slow. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated despite having a reservation. Once seated, our server took quite a while to come to our table, a long time bring water, even longer to take drink and dinner orders, and replenish beverages. Side dishes didn't arrive until after we were already finished with the meats, which felt poorly timed. One standout favorite was the grilled cheese- actual cheese grilled to perfection and topped with hot honey. Absolutely amazing. Overall, some strong elements and tasty moments, but the slow service and uneven execution kept this from being a higher-rated experience. read more

In fact it seemed like he didn't want to be there - we had to flag him over anytime we needed something. As for the food , the market basket was pretty good and had nice variety. But the meats that came around were mostly the same cheaper cuts each time, not a lot of variety. Only once in the hour we were there was ribeye offered. After placing our order, we didn't receive water until about 30 minutes later. We then waited nearly an hour for our food, only to find out that our order had never been entered into the system. Another server eventually came by to ask what we had ordered "to check if the kitchen was working on it." After we repeated our order to them, our food arrived within 10 minutes. While the other staff members were apologetic and helpful, Luna did not acknowledge the mistake and avoided our table for the rest of the meal. She rarely came by to refill drinks, and getting the check from her was also difficult. We ultimately had to ask another server, who brought it promptly. We were very disappointed with the service. Have come here a few times for occasions but sometimes service can be a hit or miss with the meats coming around. Me and my dad got the worst food poisoning of our LIFEEEEE from this joint. I threw up 9 times in one day and after 4 or 5 I was throwing up straight vile or bile or wtv it's called. My dad sht his brains out like you wouldn't believe and I had to take off school for 2 whole days. We had the meat that they shave off and my mom and sister had no meat and nothing happened to them. I came here last December a week before Christmas with my co-workers and bosses. It was a company dinner. We had a 5:15pm reservation. We were quickly seated and explained how the meal process works. Basically there is a buffet area for salads, pasta, breads, cured meats, cheeses, and such. Then there are waiters who go around with different meats that they slice into your plate. I love the concept. It gave me an opportunity to try many different meat they had to offer. I only went to the buffet area once because I didn't want to full up with carbs. There were a few things that were passed around that wasn't meat but still worth getting. The grilled cheese with honey was one of them. Holy cow! I never had that before and I was blown away. I was already getting full by the time they came around with that. So I was only able to eat one. The only negative thing about the experience was the lighting. The dining area we sat was too dark for my liking. Half of the table can see their plate compared to the other half. Next time I come here, I would ask for the opening seating area. read more

I noticed Fogo was pumping out a bunch of ads on various social media platforms for a $39 Best of Brazil special. It's basically their Churrasco Experience without the filet mignon, beef ribs and ribeye. It's actually not a bad deal but seeing the ads annoyed me because I went 2 months ago and paid $70 for the Churrasco Experience and that night, they didn't offer the filet mignon, beef ribs and ribeye and barely brought out any picanha, even though I asked every server I could flag down to bring out the meats, but to no avail. So essentially I paid nearly double for the same offering. Extremely disappointing. As mentioned in my prior reviews, I've had really great experiences at other locations, so it might just be a Paramus location issue where they completely skimp out on the higher-end cuts. First time here & hopefully not the last. Pricey, but food was absolutely delicious. Service was great. Friendly & personable staff. Ambiance was very calm & relaxing. Received crème brulee cheesecake complimentary for my birthday, which was soooo delicious. Add this to your places to try. You'll be happy you did. read more

Servers would bring out cheapest meat possible - mostly chicken. But not very much servers or food in the dinning hall and diners...just waiting and hungry. I asked a waiter if the servers recognize the card I have on my table (as for meat service) and showed the waiter the card thing and the waiter got really really angry - like I stuck the middle finger at him or something. This was not my intention and it looked like he wanted to attack me (seriously angry and wanted to hit me). I did get sort of scared. I ended up sounding sorry and apologetic to him but it was a weird experience. The bill plus tax and tip for 2 is close to $180 or so. I saw some kind of coupon promo recently and my wife asked me if I wanted to. My answer is pretty obvious. read more

We came out for brunch as a party of 5 for a birthday celebration. The restaurant is very well kept and the service was exceptional throughout. The variety of meats that were offered were delicious and the market table has some pretty good choices. We didn't utilize their waffle or omelet station but it's a nice addition to brunch. We will definitely be returning in the future. read more
