First time trying First Watch. The good: server was very friendly and eggs where cooked well. The not so good: average (that's being generous) tasting food. Ordered the Eggs Benedict with salmon and veggie omelette. Both dishes were meh. Interesting combinations but lacked flavor in my opinion. Side of potatoes nothing special and a bit undercooked. Tried a sample of the Meditation juice and decided not to order it. Was expecting more but just seemed to be majority orange juice. Maybe other breakfasts are better? Not sure but definitely feel I wasted $40 and no plans to return to try lunch. If one meal was mediocre ok. 2 meals. Nope. read more

Delicious!!!! Great breakfast foods snd yummy coffee. Good service. Get there early on weekends if you want a seat!

Scenery: the homely semi-southern aesthetic is a very nice touch though the interior is a little rough around the edges at times Service: Every time I've been the service is more than adequate though nothing special Food: nothing on the menu will disappoint, from the avocado toast, to the delicious pancakes, to the millionaires bacon (bacon with brown sugar), you will never be left saying that you missed out Summary: an all around good breakfast place with a few distinguishing quirks which put it a cut above the rest (get the lemon ricotta pancakes or your missing out!) read more

My boyfriend and I wanted to try something new so we decided to go here. Menu was okay, mainly healthy options. The only thing that was uncomfortable is that the server tried to 'give us a deal' by downsizing my bf's meal. I told him to just give us what we ordered, no shortcuts or deals and we still got the smaller order. My bf is 265 lbs and we didn't care about the price of the 2 meals that he wanted to order. He didn't get enough food and the server forgot his drink so he had to eat his meal with coffee (which he doesn't really drink) because the server dissapeared after droppi g off our food I used to be a server so I understand checking in with your tables, but our server did not. We probably won't return. The juice that I had was pretty good and the food was mediocre. read more

Food is actually tasty but they didn't have any dairy free options for coffees (which is funny to me because they're located right next door to a Publix where they could've restocked to hold them over until they have their stuff back in) and our waitress didn't come to see us for twenty five minutes before we even placed our orders. Our table was dirty when we sat down too. I was hoping to give this place another chance through delivery but after calling and speaking to Kristen -- which she later hung up on me, was informed that they don't do delivery anymore. Which is misleading because it says they do on the apps (door dash). As much as I enjoyed the meal I had, I can't give it more than three stars for the customer service and feeling like their place is you either come and get the food or not get a meal at all. As an exhausted healthcare worker, I just want delivery to enjoy my breakfast without having to deal with the public because I deal with people all week long. And I want to enjoy food in the comfort of my own home. I'll be spending my money elsewhere. read more

We stopped by First Watch on Saturday and received top notch service from Shawn! (Hope I didn't misspell). Shawn was on top of all the customers he was taking g care of and he said he was new! Obviously not new to customer service!! Great Food too but highly recommend asking for Shawn while there. I know we will!! read more

First Watch (FW) is a national breakfast-brunch-lunch chain with more than 200 locations across America. It has acquired the Egg & I and is slowly converting many of those to First Watches. FW is not your ordinary breakfast place. It starts with complimentary coffee while you wait. Waiting is pretty common if you're coming during peak weekend breakfast hours. FW's key angle is that they serve higher-end breakfast food with fresh ingredients and more healthy options than other breakfast chains. Yet, it's kitchen and concept is tried and tested - so logistics is well thought out. For this location, training seems to be good, because execution has always been good for my meals. For the folks of Preston and the surrounding neighborhoods, this branch hits the sweet spot - a place to go beyond fast food sandwiches, donuts, and some mediocre bagel places. It may cost a bit more, but that's part of the FW higher-end experience. They do everything well here and a few things are quite special - like the lemon curd pancakes. If any downside, this is still a busy chain - with hurried and little time for small talk. Service may be slow/spotty, but I've always had a pleasant experience and they readily oblige my requests. If you want a good tip, use Yelp to put your name in the queue while you're still in your PJs at home. Then rally your squad up and head on down without the buckaroos getting antsy. Just don't forget to check-in to confirm your place in line. read more

I've eaten here many times with friends and solo. Good is good but expensive. The Benedict's aren't worth it at all. (The side salad I got was rotten and they don't offer any dressing or topping ) Their grist taste like masa dough and the "cheesy" grits are their grits with a little cheese on top. And for the small scoop you get defiantly aren't worth it ever! Get the coffee because their tea selection is not there at all! Service, as always is great but I probably won't come back unless begged to by friends. (Who wouldn't be real friends if they beg me to come back) Shiny Diner from now on! read more

Food was good but service was not on point. Went there this past Saturday. Got there around 7:45, so not a busy time for them yet. The waiter greets me, ask where I wanted to sit. Went to get coffee and I reviewed the menu. Decide on the Trifecta version of Floridian French Toast. Last, I ask for Tabasco Hot sauce. "you mean you want something other than the Cholula?", which was sitting at the table. That should have been my red flag there. In my head, I'm thinking if I wanted the Cholula, why would I ask for Tabasco. But I just politely stated, no I prefer Tabasco. "Ok, I'll get that for you." (1) Before I continue, should note I been to First Watch several times and normally get good service. And I ask for Tabasco before and received it with no problems. Now let me continue..... OK, so a couple minutes pass and he drops off my glass of milk. no Tabasco. I did not say anything as I figure it was coming. Couple more minutes pass. He stops by to say meal will be out shortly. Nicely remind him about Tabasco. "Oh yeah, I'll get that for you". (2) Several minutes pass. He brings the meal. For the third time, nicely ask for Tobasco. "oh, coming right up". (3) LOL, so at first I held off eating for a sec, thinking he was for real this time. Then I started to eat my french toast because it has no involvement with the hot sauce. Then after I was done with them, I said f'it and started to eat my eggs. As I was finishing up the eggs, guess what was plopped on my table. "man that was hard to find" It was Tabasco sauce! So I had to grin as it was really nothing major to get mad over. But honestly, I'd preferred him saying they only have Cholula then going through that dance for Tabasco sauce :-) read more

TL;DR: good breakfast at a good price. Coffee on tap, nice premium juices as well. When you're going to a brunch place, getting coffee and getting it fast is one of the main ways I measure how good a place is. The nice thing about First Watch is they get this part consistently correct. The coffee is one of the first things out and then you get a chance to order food. Basically, you can order food when you are caffeinated! There is ample seating, the food comes out quick. Their breakfast is pretty standard when it comes to the other brunch places in town, so I won't go into detail on that. They have special juices / blends on the menu that are definitely worth a look. read more

Great place for weekend breakfast! The key is getting on the waitlist, but Yelp makes that easy. I also discovered that they have an app for that as well. If we do the wait list, we typically only wait for a few minutes to get a table. The coffee here is delicious - my only gripe is that I wish they had fresh cream. I'll use the little pods, but the fact that they're not refrigerated has always skeezed me out. I've had a different entree every time I eat at First Watch, and they've all been delicious. Some highlights - Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (but add blueberries!), Florentine Benedict, Egg Sandwich, any of the Hashes. Everything is hearty but not too heavy - just what I need! One of the best things about this place is the service - all of the waitstaff are very friendly, and the hosts have things organized quite well. Our favorite waiter is Joe, but they're all great! read more

I love First Watch. Just not THIS First Watch. Byt maybe I'm just picky. I mean, when I order Avocado Toast, is kind of like to have the toast actually get TOAST, not BREAD. And, again... Picky, but when I order eggs Benedict, the eggs are supposed to be poached. The yolks should be runny. I get that, if I gi someplace that doesn't make poached eggs often, I might not get them right. But when Benedicts are literally the top center of you menu, you should know how to make them. Same with basted eggs. When your menu advertises them, you should freaking know how to make them. The menu is amazing. The service has been hit and miss (hint: don't sit outside; they'll forget you exist). The food prep is destroying their reputation. If you travel, try First Watch someplace else. Literally every other one that I've been to has been amazing. Sad that the one closest to me is so mediocre. read more

Terrible management that will make you have to fight to get a table!!! This restaurant is too chaotic and has no system in place to seat people in order of arrival. We will never be coming here again due to the host/manager making it very uncomfortable to get a table. We waited for our turn to be seated in the line, and the manager would choose who he decided to help regardless of our order. To have people with the same # party seated before us, but came in after us is completely unacceptable. They were given priority because of being better dressed and we had to now wait +25 minutes so we decided to leave. Much friendlier staff at NC Bagel and Deli just up the road. read more

I arrived wayyyyy earlier than my friend and felt bad for taking up a table on a busy morning. The server put me at ease and was very patient. As usual, the food was delicious! Went for breakfast, million dollar bacon was a bit spicy for me (I've low tolerance) but everything else we had was thoroughly enjoyable.

Look what they got dinged on their health review. Wish I would have looked at it first. https://www.yelp.com/inspections/first-watch-cary-3 Ordered the specialty frittata and cutting for bite two noticed white slimy stuff coming out of frittata. Called over one of the staff who it turned out to the manager and told her the egg was not done. She proceeded to tell me their eggs are pasteurized (I didn't know this makes raw egg ok to eat). Then she proceeded to tell me it was the cream cheese (if that is the case why bother because it was small). I told her it looked raw to me and she keep arguing about the white she saw was cream cheese. Uncooked runny egg white is also white. Dina keep on and on about this is what I see. I asked for my check which she didn't bring because she was too busy making her case to cashier. As you can see it's not like I ate 90% and then complained. Meal was compt-ed. read more

The waffles were soggy. The breakfast was mediocre at best. The waitstaff was lovely. But it is just not worth the wait for the food.

Just had lunch here. I had an item off the Summer menu and it was outstanding. A bowl of home fry potatoes with chorizo, onion, peppers, two eggs any style, cheese & avocado. VERY yummy. My buddy had a burger. Our waitress was friendly, but I had to remind her that I ordered iced tea and the table next to us was seated and had no one come to their table for at least 5 minutes. They had plenty of staff on hand and we didn't have to wait for our table. read more

I had an early morning dentist appointment nearby, so I decided to grab breakfast at First Watch. I'd heard of this place, but had never been, so I was excited to try it out. Overall, it's pretty good food. The menu didn't feel overwhelming, and my selection, the egg/bacon sandwich with arugula and a lemon mayo dressing, was delicious. The breakfast potatoes were seasoned well, but next time I'd order mine cooked a bit longer, as these still had quite a bit of crunch to them. The decor is farmhouse modern (is that a thing?), with large barn doors and an open, airy feel. I'd totally come back to try more of the menu. read more

I visited this place for Sunday brunch, for the first time yesterday. The restaurant was socially distant, everyone was masked up, and we had delicious food. Decided to give First Watch a second try. Got an omelet this time. Chili Chorizo. The food was okay. It came out complete this time, which was an improvement. I still have to say that from a flavor stand point it just seemed to be missing a lot. It's not that it was bad, it was just okay. The quality of the food was good, just not a lot of flavor. Service was good. Went a little earlier so they were not quite as busy. I still don't like the layout where you pay that cashier right next to the host stand, but there was no back log this morning. It's worth trying, but not for me. read more

Pretty nice place. I liked it a lot. Great selection of omelets frittatas and traditional breakfast offerings. Only two drawbacks were no liquor license so no bloody Mary's and the eggs Benedict should have runny poached yolks, not solid well done cooked eggs on them. The Farmhouse skillet hash was delicious, would definitely recommend. Ham and gruyere omelette was also the bomb. Just make sure you tell them up front if you order Benedict you expect those poached eggs to be right! read more

Great breakfast! The ingredients are all high quality, they even have good avocado! The flavors were spot on. I ordered the chickachanga which is basically a breakfast burrito with spicy chicken, chorizo, and avocado. I really enjoyed it! Everyone else loved their food too, from a biscuit and gravy bowl to a super food breakfast bowl. They coffee was great too. I love all the healthy options and the service was great. We went on a Sunday and it was packed luckily they have call ahead seating so we didn't have to wait long. Apparently you can also do this through the yelp app. Remember when you get there you should check in with them. read more

Today while I was eating lunch with a friend I indirectly encountered some rather disturbing and unsettling behavior from a server. We could clearly hear her (she was speaking so unbelievably loud) not only using profanity but speaking so poorly about her guest, and she was in the kitchen which makes it that much worse in my eyes, because if we could hear it I promise you other guests could also. To say this is unprofessional is a legitimate understatement, and it immediately made me beyond uncomfortable especially with how irate this server was. In passing I stopped another waitress to ask for her name and they kindly let me know it was Kalia. If First Watch allows this type of behavior and hires employees that are hostile and abrupt then I can without a doubt say this will be my last time ever coming here, and I can guarantee more customers will feel the same way. I genuinely feel bad for the guests who she was "taking care of" and had to endure her attitude, there is no doubts that they sensed it, felt it and were past the point of uncomfortable. I'm giving 3 stars because our server was out of this world phenomenal, had a smile on their face, truly knew the menu and was able to offer countless suggestions (which I always appreciate because I tend to stick to the same things everywhere I go), and our food arrived super fast and hot! If it weren't for hearing that waitress in the kitchen I would absolutely give more stars, but the stars I did give are owed directly to our server, but First Watch really needs to re-evaluate who they have working for them. read more

For a breakfast place, this is as good as it gets. I enjoyed the fact that they keep a coffee pot with sugar and cream in the waiting area. Why didn't anyone else think of that. While you're waiting for your breakfast, seems perfectly cost effective and meaningful service to provide. The menu has good set of options. I am certain we will be back. The only thing I wish for more was healthier options (less fat) but there are few more options to try for us. read more

This place seems very popular but my wife and I am not sure exactly why. We have dined here twice, breakfast both times. Both were ok. I had the biscuit and gravy (one biscuit cut in half) with a turkey based gravy. Very expensive for the portion size. It was ok but perhaps not a dish well suited to turkey substitute. My wife had a hash type mix of items in a bowl. She was only able to eat half. Highlight: toast and homemade jam was very good. Low: Sweet tea, no comment. Service was average. But should note wait staff dropped a food item from our tray on the floor but did not get us a replacement. Also the space is very crowded and the tables are more suited for a coffee shop than dining. This combined with the number of condiments and signs on the table made it impossible to enjoy comfortably. And with the price, unlikely we will return. read more

Our first time at first watch. In spite of busy Sunday morning only about 10-15 min to get a table. Service was fast. The best part of course was the food. while they have plenty of traditional breakfast items, I usually try to order something i could not make myself. Lots of yummy unique and reasonably healthy items on the menu. We tried the breakfast chicken chimichanga and the lemon pancakes. Honestly, this place is nothing special. I have no idea why everyone has given this place such awesome reviews. The wait time on a Saturday for brunch wasn't terrible, but what was awful was getting not one, but TWO water glasses with visible lipstick stains on them. Super gross! However, food quality is decent but don't expect "great." I got the turkey burger which was not bad, just very bland. Their seasoned potatoes are slightly undercooked, but flavor wise were alright. This place isn't terrible, just meh. Would I come back here? I wouldn't like to. read more

We've always had a good experience at this restaurant. The meal is always fresh and with quality ingredients. My favorite selection is the A.M. Superfood Bowl. I even got my kids to try it and got thumbs up (I just didn't tell them of all the healthy ingredients). My wife's favorite is the Lemon Ricotta pancakes with Millionaire Bacon. Sure the prices are a bit higher than the area brunch restaurants. I was initially going to rate it a 4-star because of that. However, as a result but the taste, food quality and staff kept it at a "5". read more

This was my first time at First Watch. I had read the reviews so my expectations were not too high. I ordered the chickichanga and the meditation drink. The chickichanga was ok. The meditation drink looked great but I did not like the taste of turmeric in it. I should have ordered it without the turmeric. The server was good and prompt. When the server got the glasses and water, I could see that the glasses were not clean. I did not say anything as I had my drink and was not going to use the water glass. This was really disappointing as it makes one wonder about the overall cleanliness. read more

So I didn't know this was a chain restaurant when I did my review of the restaurant in Charlottesville VA. Overall a good experience, 8 of us on a Tuesday morning. Seated promptly, server was good, food came out quickly. Coffee was hot this time, . Only reason for a 4 is the breakfast tacos. Only option was a corn tortilla which started to fall apart as soon as the first bite was taken( happened on the first 2 so I ended up ditching the tortilla 1/2 way through the second one and just used a fork to finish eating the rest of my meal). Tasted great though. read more

I used to love this place, but the service has gone down, unfortunately. Giving 3 stars due to the delicious food and juices.
