Overall, just okay. The chips and salsa weren't great, and there was no green salsa available (only on Fridays & Saturdays). The kids' fries were very oily and lacked flavor. Portions were decent for the price. If you like Tex-Mex, this might be for you. The service was excellent -- very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food wasn't a hit for me, so I probably won't be back.

El Jarrito is a good Mexican spot in Katy. They've got all your standard Tex Mex dishes. I like how they bring out beans with the salsa. The queso is tasty and I requested pickled jalapeños which they gave plenty of that were mild. I forgot to take pics of my main meal because I was too hungry but I had a combo plate that had a cheese enchilada, chicken chalupa, and beef fajita taco. The enchilada was tasty. The chalupa was difficult to eat and the chicken had no taste. The beef in the taco was overly charred tasting. I liked the beans and rice. Next time I would probably just get an enchiladas plate. The service was good and I like how ornate the decorations are. The tables are also nicely organized to provide a bit of space from others.

Is it still good? Yes, el Jarrito still has tasty food and good drinks. I had the mole enchiladas. I have had mole before where the sauce was very heavy, but not so much with this dish. Add just a touch of crema fresca (Mexican sour cream) to each bite, and the taste is incredible. Recommended. I drank a house margarita with the meal and enjoyed it. Strong, but still smooth. Later I had some of my wife's quesadillas. A ton of cheese and very good. We enjoy the green sauce and beans served with tortilla chips.

One of my favorite patios... Our server was nice and accommodating. It being Good Friday, I asked if I could have the shrimp stuffed poblano as it was not on the menu and server was very sweet and said that they would try. They delivered. My son opted for the burrito. It was big enough that he took half of it to go. The beans they serve with the salsa are always so delicious.

El Jarrito is a great Mexican restaurant. The service is amazing, the food was delicious. Especially the chips and beans that they give you to start. The drinks like the Margaritas are extremely spiked and delicious. Can't wait to go back soon.

I love the vibe of this place and the bright colors everywhere! Our service today was slower than normal but was still good. I ordered a chicken flauta and tostada but was given a chicken taco. I was on my work lunch break so I just ate it and it was delicious.

The best Mexican in the USA with good prices and great portions. Try the burritos, Abuela, or the tortilla soup (a meal in itself).

After living in Houston for…read more15 years and dining all over the city, this was by far the most disappointing restaurant experience we've had. What made it even more frustrating is that we've been to the Cypress location many times, and every single visit there has been exceptional -- great food, great service, and consistently enjoyable. Unfortunately, the La Centerra location was the complete opposite. We waited over an hour for our food, only to receive the wrong appetizer. The fajita plate arrived cold and without rice, beans, or tortillas. We sent both dishes back. The replacement appetizer -- ceviche tostadas -- finally arrived, but it was overloaded with lemon to the point of being unbearably sour. Meanwhile, there were still no tortillas, rice, or beans in sight. No drink refills, no updates, and barely any service during the entire wait. After another long stretch of waiting, we finally asked the server what was happening, only for her to return and tell us the kitchen was closing and they no longer had tortillas, rice, or beans available. At that point, after nearly 1.5 hours, we walked out with nothing but a to-go box of fajita meat. To the manager's credit, they removed the appetizer and fajita charges from the bill, but the experience itself left such a bad taste that it completely overshadowed the gesture. Extremely disappointing, especially compared to the excellent standards we've experienced at the Cypress location. Sadly, we will not be returning to this location.

This place is huge and can hold a lot of people, but I appreciate that they're not trying to cram as much people in as possible. There is ample spacing between tables and walk ways. Although it was busy, we did not wait long at all. Even the food that we ordered came out pretty quickly! We ordered the chicken fajitas for two and regular size queso. The chicken fajitas for two was enough to feed my husband, me, and our two little boys. The tortillas were sooo good! The queso was decent. It's pretty expensive for the portion that you get. I thought the fajitas were alright as well. It was good, but I still wanted to dip it into something. I believe that a good fajita doesn't require any extra sauce. haha We also got the sopapillas for dessert and it was alright as well. Overall, I would rate the food as a 3.5 or 4 out of 5. However, the main reason why I gave a 5 star is because we had an AMAZING waitress. Her name is Sarah and LET - ME - TELL - YOU -ABOUT - HER. Sarah was literally smiling and cheery the ENTIRE time. She was not only like that when she was serving us, but she was even walking around like that. She was polite, friendly, patient, respectful, and just a delight to interact with. She was on top of things, too! We never had to ask her to refill anything because she automatically did it. I also love how she placed our dishes on the table. It was symmetrical and esthetic. The restaurant was also super loud but once when she was walking away and I called out her name, SHE HEARD ME. She was very attentive. Seriously, she was awesome. Come to Gringo's, not for the food, but for Sarah! lol
