Enchiladas carnitas
John W.

Fast friendly service. The chips were light, crispy, hot, and fresh. The salsa is delicious with a flavorful heat. I enjoyed the enchiladas carnitas, packed with meat and covered with a tasty tomatillo sauce. The rice was light, fluffy, and seasoned well (subtle balance). My wife enjoyed the soup, which looked amazing with fresh slices of avocado arranged, making for a nicely presented dish.

Alicia's Citrus Salad

This is the best salad and so refreshing for hot Texas weather! It has mixed greens, slivers of jicama, slivers of mango, slivers of strawberries, mandarin orange sections and a tasty raspberry vinaigrette, with juicy tender chicken fajita. This is a beautiful restaurant and so easy to get to from I-10 in the new section of Main Street Katy. All the waters and waitresses are so friendly and attentive in taking care of their customers. Food arrives in a very timely fashion. We stop here every time we are going to Houston. Happy eating everyone!

Is it Friday somewhere?

Alicia's has become my family's go to restaurants for Tex Mex. Why? First and foremost the food is great, served hot and in generous portions. I almost always get a Cowboy Steak and my wife gets the Relleno De Res, but we both agreed to swap next time. I also always drink one of their Painkiller cocktails. I never had a Painkiller before and can't say if it is made right but the one at Alicia's is better than a Marg. The restaurant never seems busy which is a surprise and a pleasure. Surprise only because so many people in Katy dine out that it's surprising that there isn't a wait here. A pleasure because I hate waiting. Inside you see a classy looking restaurant with a full service bar (which often is busy) with walls decorated with classical portraits of what I guess are family members? Altogether I recommend this restaurant to anyone and hope we all don't show up at once.

Churros

I've never liked Tex-mex food, but my friends suggested this place. I thought it would be worth the try. I thought wrong. None of the entrees caught my attention, but I decided to get the churros since it's one my my favorite desserts. Before ordering, I asked the waiter if the churros had filling and he said yes. That was the deciding factor of me ordering it. Long story short, he lied. Their churros aren't filled with anything. The presentation of the plate was nice; I will give them that. If you like Tex-mex, you'll love it here. Otherwise, this place is not good.

Service is great here. Everyone is pretty welcoming. Not a fan of the food. The first visit here, I ordered fajitas poblano. There were like 3 small pieces of poblano on my overcooked fajita plate. There wasn't much pepper or onion. Everything was just over cooked and not good. Came back a second time to give a second chance. The queso fundido was swimming in grease. The Puerto Vallarta plate was ok. The sides were bland. They skimped on the meat for my plate. The prices are to high for what you get here. What I dislike is that it really is hard to find good Mexican or Tex-Mex fare in my immediate area. I gave this place two chances.

Alicia's mixed Alicia's Molcajete (for two) You won't be disappointed ordering this.

It's good, a solid 4. It's getting back to being better. When we discovered this gem in 2018 I would have given it a 5. Then it slipped to a 3. The food is flavorful. Service is good. Restaurant is clean. There are no visible COVID policies in place if this is important to you.

Lobster Enchiladas

My opinion Alicia's has the best Mexican food in Houston. Everything is always hot fresh and delicious. Lobster enchiladas are my all time favorite thing to eat!

I really loved the fajitas! So glad to have found this place! Everything was fresh and the beef was so tender. I would order again for sure.

A special shoutout to Ulises, who made our experience exceptional. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and fast without ever making us feel rushed. Since it was our first time visiting, they even surprised us with complimentary corn on the cob, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was outstanding and came out surprisingly quickly. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. My husband was also impressed by the attention to detail throughout the restaurant--even the restroom was stocked with everything you could think of, from toothpicks to mouthwash, which was especially appreciated after enjoying all the delicious corn and black beans! It's rare to find a restaurant that combines amazing food, excellent service, and thoughtful hospitality so well. We left already talking about our next visit, and we can't wait to come back and try their margaritas. Highly recommend!

We had one of the worst dining experiences ever at Ambriza La Centerra. After living in Houston for…read more15 years and dining all over the city, this was by far the most disappointing restaurant experience we've had. What made it even more frustrating is that we've been to the Cypress location many times, and every single visit there has been exceptional -- great food, great service, and consistently enjoyable. Unfortunately, the La Centerra location was the complete opposite. We waited over an hour for our food, only to receive the wrong appetizer. The fajita plate arrived cold and without rice, beans, or tortillas. We sent both dishes back. The replacement appetizer -- ceviche tostadas -- finally arrived, but it was overloaded with lemon to the point of being unbearably sour. Meanwhile, there were still no tortillas, rice, or beans in sight. No drink refills, no updates, and barely any service during the entire wait. After another long stretch of waiting, we finally asked the server what was happening, only for her to return and tell us the kitchen was closing and they no longer had tortillas, rice, or beans available. At that point, after nearly 1.5 hours, we walked out with nothing but a to-go box of fajita meat. To the manager's credit, they removed the appetizer and fajita charges from the bill, but the experience itself left such a bad taste that it completely overshadowed the gesture. Extremely disappointing, especially compared to the excellent standards we've experienced at the Cypress location. Sadly, we will not be returning to this location.

1 Star -- Good Food, Horrible Customer Service!…read more I visited Los Perez Mexican Restaurant in Katy, TX, and unfortunately, this will be my first and last visit. Let me start by saying the food was actually good, but good food means absolutely nothing when the customer service is horrible! Both my son's order and mine were messed up. Instead of enjoying my meal with my son, I sat there for approximately 10 minutes without eating while waiting for the situation to be corrected. Although they eventually attempted to fix the mistakes, the entire experience had already left a bad taste in my mouth. As a paying customer, I shouldn't have to deal with poor service just to receive what I originally ordered. Mistakes happen, and I understand that, but how a business handles those mistakes says everything about how much it values its customers. The food may bring people through the door, but customer service determines whether they return. And I can assure you, I will NOT be returning. Good food, terrible experience. Los Perez needs to understand that customer service is just as important as what's coming out of the kitchen.

Dom is such a bright cheery presence and its authentic; as well as the other bar staff that brings chips, salsa & waters!! Even the hostess (no matter which of the two we've seen) is genuine about their greetings. It's a comfortable atmosphere! They decorated for Christmas - another huge bonus for me Last night, we got a marg (obviously!) and a Shrimp Botana Mix but since we have different preferences on the fried vs bacon-wrapped shrimp, yes I'm the weirdo that doesn't care for bacon, Dom suggested 2 of each to make us both happy. It hit the spot! Perfect portion to share, filled us up. It's my favorite appetizer- some nachos, quesadillas, shrimp, guac, flautas ... you get it all I'm really not sure why this place does bot have more stars !

We were off to a good start. I am not sure how the sections were laid out but the restaurant wasn't packed. Our drinks were delivered and then there was a longer than expected wait to place our entrees order. The server finally came back answering our questions and took our entrees order. When the guacamole was delivered to our table, we had to asked for small plates. And then we had to ask for small plates... we finally got small plates. I am guessing the manager was visiting tables and brought us a couple of hot tortillas... I thought he was going to make small talk with us but he didn't. Our entrees were delivered to the table, one order was missing ranchero beans, so we asked for ranchero beans and the server asked if it was ok to bring out another set of rice and beans. To which was replied, yes. Another dinning companion asked for another fork because the fork was dirty. The server said ok. Then we asked for the beans and the fork. Then we asked for the beans and the fork. The server replied the forks are up front and she went up front and brought back the wrapped flatware set. Then we waited.. the server came by and asked if we need refills then brought the refills and we asked about the beans. The server walked away. And then came back with the beans. 2 observations, 1. why did the server always reach across the table to serve people plates instead of walking to the other side of the table? 2. Why did the server never apologize for forgetting things we asked for? The service just went downhill, I don't expect perfection but I do hope for courtesy service. Maybe it is time for more training. The food... The guacamole was very good. The chips were crispy, nice crunch and held up to the guacamole. The chicken enchiladas with mole sauce was meh. The chicken did not have a lot of flavor. Too bad the chicken wasn't cooked in the sauce or braised in the sauce. Disappointed.
