Hidden gem in Katy! We love to come here for breakfast. I get the chilaquiles with eggs, my kids love the pancakes and my husband gets the steak and eggs! read more

Amazing service ! Amazing food! The staff was so friendly & informative on what we were ordering. We came in on a Tuesday morning & they weren't that busy. The restaurant is in a shopping center & has so much space inside. The food came out so fast & they were hands down some of the best chillaquiles . The beans were so tasty also! We will definitely be back!! P.s. the red sauce is super spicy but soooo good read more

Sad. Sad that I didn't discover this place sooner! I'm in love with the street tacos! My top two faves: Pastor and Tripa!! So yummy, and loaded with onions and cilantro. Next, coffee. Hear me out. If you're a coffee drinker, you have to try theirs. I like mine black, but you add whatever your heart desires. There's a hint of cinnamon/cardamom that makes you go "Hmm, this is good!!" It's a mild taste, but the aromas will make you wanna refill! I've been here three times. Each time I get the same friendly server, Dannie, (not sure on spelling of her name) but she is super awesome! She is very diligent in taking orders, recommendations, and checking in to make sure everything is good during the meal. Tacos so yummy, you'll be coming here all days of the week! I'll have to try the other menu items, but as of now, I'm addicted to their tacos. PS- If you're a boogie bathroom b*tch like me, you can skip the baño here lol. It's... not pretty. read more

https://laguarecitarestaurant.com/menu This place seems to be a little hidden in the corner of Katyland but, I wanted to give them a BIG SHOUT OUT! Their breakfast plates are YUMMY! This LOCAL, FAMILY OPERATED Place said they'd be a shelter for people when the weather was crazy... if we're starting to get back into the "rhythm of things", I don't us to forget about the Mom n Pop places like this when times got tough. I like the Huevos Con Tocino (Eggs with Bacon) so, that's what you're seeing below. And, if you do DuoLingo where you're teaching yourself another language - me too. Hit me up to be friends so, we can do "streaks" while we work on our mind muscles. #Katy #local #FamilyOwned read more

Came here for breakfast and ordered the Migas and the wife had the omelette mixto. Both were fantastic and good size portions! Not overly filled but definitely enough to fill the gut! Good price, and the waitress was very sweet! Think I found my breakfast place here in Katy! read more

This food was incredible! We were back and forth on where we wanted to eat, and stumbled upon this place online. When we pulled up we thought it was closed and we almost left - so glad we didn't! Interior was as expected for a small restaurant. The lady who sat us and took our order was extremely nice and helpful with suggestions. She brought us chips and multiple salsas, and even made a super spicy one for us upon our request. Love a good variety of salsas :) The food... the food... the food!!! It was so flavorful and everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Portions were perfect, definitely leaning on the "larger portions" side so you definitely won't leave hungry! Highly recommend trying a variety of tacos - and just about anything else on the menu! Can't wait to go back! read more

The food is on point!! Great prices. I got the fajita burrito and it is one of the better authentic ones in Katy area. Not with cheese and chili but one you would get off a taco truck! Drool worthy. We also ordered a torta which was also amazing. The only reason I took 1 off is because I ordered a small guacamole and sour cream to put on my burrito and they charged me $5.99 for the guacamole and $1.99 for a tiny serving of sour cream. ‍ Also I am not a fan of the chips and salsa, but the red sauce they bring out with tacos and the burrito is amazing. Be ready for some spice. Did I mention the burrito was only 7.99 read more

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food and tired of all the Tex-mex restaurants, come here! Doesn't look like much from the outside but don't let it fool you. It's actually a large space with lots of tables and booths. Everything we ordered was made fresh and tasted DELICIOUS. I myself ordered the beef enchiladas (flour tortillas) with the red sauce. Oh woooow, so good. I felt like I was back in California. Some other great dishes were the torta sandwiches, fried tilapia and cheese quesadilla. And the creamy green avocado sauce!!! Fire. Hidden gem, I highly recommend this spot! read more

Went there for first time. The street taco was great. The flour tortillas were homemade and perfect. However the Menudo needed help. For 12.99 you get more than enough. However the flavor was just not there. Regarding drinks. Cokes are 1.25 for 12 oz cans. Not sure about going back for menudo. read more

Went here on a limb, looking for some Menudo as we happened to be in the area...and I would say if you are looking for some great Mexican flavor here you will find it, this is not the Tex Me version of want to be Mexican food....The menudo has a great rich flavor and is very clean, and you can customize it to your choice, we had some Mexican style tacos that came with grilled onions and potatoes , they were of great flavor and the meat was tender. The two ladies that tend to you are super kind and deliver great service! We had an orchata and Jamaica and both were home made. Some may say This may be a hole in the wall but they probably can sit about 100 people. We even ordered some extra food to go and have for tomorrow. I would say that eating here and the flavor reminded me of eating in Mexico . We shared the restaurant with several real Mexicans and all seemed very pleased. read more

Probably the best chicharrón Gordita I've ever had. The refried beans were made fresh, not from a can, and so were the arepas and tortillas We will 100% be back! read more

I only have gone once, I was looking for something yummy but on a budget. I ended up getting the burrito with fajita meat and for the price it wasvery delicious! There was a generous portion of tomatoes and lettuces in comparison to fajita meat butt once again, for the price? I thought it was great! It's a cute little restaurant tucked into the corner of E 5th St and Katyland Dr. The map says a different name so don't get confused but the actual signage is correct. I definitely will be back to try out some Caldo de Res or perhaps a breakfast option in the future read more

This place is great! If you're craving authentic Mexican food in the Katy area. This is your spot. Prices are very reasonable with good size portion. My husband thought the birria was pretty good and I enjoyed my chile relleno as well. I came for breakfast one morning and tried their breakfast tacos, the salsa really brings their dishes together. I came on a weekday and it was empty. However, I wish they had more customers! This place is really a hidden gem. Dining in comes with chip and salsa, ask for the salsa verde.. it is the kind you'd find in a good Mexican spot! The light green one? Yes that one. All in all, I'd definitely come back again to try something else on the menu. Update: I came back to try out the Diablo shrimp and it was over cooked. My tortillas were hard as if they were reheated and left out. I could tap the table with it and you could tell how hard it was. My husbands burger was also burnt and dry. Maybe it was a bad day? But it was definitely inedible. read more

1st time visit was on May 17th, the day after derecho took out majority of power in Houston. We had softball practice in Katy and headed over heights area a few hours early to find somewhere with power/ac for a sit-down breakfast and ran across La Guarecita. The lady that greeted us was welcoming, sat us quickly and brought out water. She informed us that there are no chips and salsa served with during breakfast hours as we were handed our menus. In the kitchen, the cooks had music blaring...I was beginning to think there was a live band back there it was so loud, but it didn't bother us as we were seated at the opposite far wall and were able to talk without yelling. As we waited for water/menus, I began to wonder if this is how they wake themselves up in the morning? My next two visits were at lunch and dinner times and the music was still blaring so it's an all-day thing. 1st visit we order a variety of breakfast tacos, 2 gorditas, huevos de albanil, coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. Everything was on point... the OJ was refreshing, the tacos were all good, but the standouts were huevo mexicana and barbacoa! The bbcoa was not greasy but not dry and full of flavor. The dish called huevos de albanil was a 1st time try for us and never seen it on the menu anywhere before. Imagine taking a small bowl of beans with the juice cooked with cream, chile, onions, queso fresco, avocado chunks and throw in some scrambled eggs at the end!!! At 1st we were like... "this is a bit weird" but after a couple of bites we were constantly passing the bowl between the three of us! 2nd and 3rd visits were as friendly and as delish as the 1st visit. We had gorditas and tacos of fajita/pastor/bbcoa and menudo. But let us not forget the salsas!!! Even when done eating, I was filling up spoons of salsa and slurping away! This will be our go to spot anytime we are in the Katy area. read more

Got three tacos--one fajita, one pastor, one chicken, all on corn tortillas. (I asked for flour for the chicken, but I'm not complaining.) The tortillas are made in-house, and they were fantastic. The meat was perfect in each one. I really wasn't expecting much from this place, but I'm glad I went. I will find an excuse to go back soon. The waitress and the girl at the register were very nice, as well. Great place! read more

Dani went above and beyond when it came to hospitality and service! The food is delicious but she's the reason we'll always come back.

Moved to Katy from LA about 2 months ago and had the hardest time finding good Mexican food. I am so happy I found this place because it is the closest to the Mexican food in LA and Mexico. There were 4 of us for dinner and all 4 of finished our meals. I had a chance to sample food from everyone dish and the flavors were all hittin. We ordered chicken enchiladas w the red sauce, Birria queso tacos, steak and chicken fajitas and carne asada street tacos. My fav was the Birria. Definitely going back for those. The fajitas (tho not traditional Mexican food) was seasoned perfectly and meats were not dry. The wait staff is small but very accommodating and friendly. Definitely come here if you want more authentic Mexican flavors. I know I'll be back. read more

What a delicious spot! Must check them out. Didn't know what to expect, but followed some other reviews on Yelp. I had the street tacos and found them to be full of flavor and the green sauce to add to it is so good. I enjoyed their salsa as well. It was different but full of flavor rather than just heat. Our server was so nice and the time we went the wasn't super busy but I'm sure breakfasts and lunches they are slammed! This is not a chain so give a local business a try. The only reason I gave 4 star and not 5 is because they don't serve alcohol and I love a good margarita with my tacos. read more

There's nothing more pleasant than walking through the door and being greeted with a big, welcoming smile. The food here is amazing! I love the menudo(especially the fact that you don't have to wait for the weekend to get it since they serve it all day, every day). The huevos rancheros, mojarra frita, and tacos de barbacoa on corn tortillas are all delicious. And don't miss the agua de horchata--it's so refreshing! Best of all, they make you feel right at home. read more

Place is clean, service is great, a little busy but if you have patience you won't be disappointed with the food.

I had the tacos de tripa and a shrimp cocktail and they were very good! Our server was friendly and attentive. The decor needs to be updated but who really cares when the food is this good. The only thing that I would like them to do, it's to inform their customers that the tip is already included when it's a party of six or more. We will definitely be back for more great authentic Mexican food. read more

Nothing special. The usual taco experience found all over southern california. The service was fast and the cashier was friendly.

So Ive found my taco tomorrow! "As Guy from CROODS" would say! I had a sad moment thinking I could never find a place with a nice spirited server/hostee I told her she would definitely be seeing me more than often. She said " I will be right here waiting , and thank you!" Oh I could have melted, I felt so special the tortillas are cooked with magical and no one is in a rush! She will get a tip from me every single time! I will try everything on the menu before my review brings in the crowds in and they become overwhelmed. read more

My wife and I dined in for lunch yesterday. I ordered a plate which had skirt steak on it. The steak meat was nasty and tasted sour like expired meat smells. My wife tasted it and agreed. When I asked management to replace the meal or refund my money, they refused and blamed the taste on seasoning. They should have been willing to comp the meal as I sent the plate back bringing the problem to their attention. I am thinking of reporting this to the health department. read more

Hands down the best breakfast tacos! Service is always quick. The green salsa is the best. Get a lemonade!

My brother-in-law order lunch for pick up. I had beef burrito with onions, cilantro, grill pepper no beans & rice. I believe my sister & her hubby order beef tacos. My burrito was very good I added their house green sauce & the red they gave us. My burrito has a good amount of tasty beef everything was just right for me. I almost finished my burrito but couldn't I didn't want to stuff myself. I do recommend this place & will tell my coworkers since some of us moved from CA & miss comfort food. read more

Went on the referral of a local Facebook group claiming they had authentic Mexican food. For once I was not disappointed! Great food ' nice people ' it dose not look very nice. Needs decor and little change. But who cares if food is good ;))

A great hole-in-the-wall place for quick and yummy tasting mexican food. Super friendly waitstaff as well. They always go the extra mile to take care of you. Great service and amazing food. The ambiance in the morning it's really busy and it takes some time for the food to be ready, but its worth it. I would suggest going during weekdays, since the food comes out faster if you don't have enough time. Other option is through UberEats or call beforehand. Definitely coming back, specially for the chefs and the service ladies! They're very sweet and helpful, considering how rude some customers are to them I could never do what they do read more
