Always a great time when we come down to the area because I know I'm going to find a great Mexican spot that I haven't tried before, and these guys did not miss. This place is absolute GARBAGE! The food is not good AT ALL and the prices are insane. Not sure how they managed to both undercook AND overcook the fajitas but they found a way. The beef was cooked to nearly beef jerky consistency it was so dry and over cooked yet somehow the onions manages to be nearly raw. Takes real talent to mess something up so badly. Also the margarita was so syrupy sweet I didn't even drink it. The cherry on top was how dismissive the server was. I've never left a restaurant on a nearly empty stomach until today. Let's start off with the hostess, shall we? Not one word was said to us.... Next the drinks. We asked if they had aguas frescas and ordered the horchata. Instead we got milk with no flavor, ice and Sandy powder sitting at the bottom of the glass... Now for the food. I ordered the shrimp tacos. I've ordered this many times at other places and they all tasted very well. As y'all can see from the photos I've attached... the shrimp had NO seasoning and were very tiny... I substituted cabbage for lettuce that seems like they just threw scraps on my tortillas- tortillas that were NOT cooked. It also came with a side of a mix of tomato, onion and cilantro that I didn't touch because it was mainly raw onion which I'm not a fan. My plate looked so sad. Love this place for my first time visiting. Margaritas came out fast , they were good but not at strong as I would like them. After one man got our drinks he never came back as he was waiting other tables or helping them. We ordered with one person, and told 2 other people to do things as well as the original waiter never came back. Seems like a family owned business because everyone was doing everything but I can respect it because it was working for them. Only 4 starts because I had to hunt people down with eye contact for everything. Food was great - they have hot salsa - key factor to knowing it's more of an authentic Mexican spot. I don't really like their food. It's not my type of TexMex. Very bland and dry. They DO however have THE BEST QUESO. That is the only thing I like from there. Pretty good margaritas as well. My family and I came to this restaurant because a friend said it was really good. Then reading all the reviews all different options. We knew it was something we had to try out for ourselves. Well we did 05/24/19 the plates came to our table looked really good. The rice lacked flavor and the refried beans were orange color with a odd flavor. Tortillas weren't homemade and very under cooked. The service was good not complaint there. Being Hispanic the food was not authentic Mexican food. We came and tried unfortunately we won't be back. We are officially "regulars" at this place, with the parting greeting being "see you next week!" The service is TOP NOTCH here, fast and friendly, refills before you realize you needed one, etc. I've only tried a few of the menu items, but I've tried those items a lot, and I'll keep having them every time I go because they always hit the spot. I've also got it on good authority that their cheese enchiladas are the bomb. I don't want to give 1 star because I think some people ignore those reviews, believing they might just be exaggerating. Please believe the poor reviews for this place. You know how there's good-bad food and bad-bad food? Good-bad food is cheap, maybe even a little gross, but the flavors or looks or whatever hold some kind of nostalgia. I was craving some cheap Tex-Mex... you know... the elementary school cafeteria enchilada kind of place. Sometimes you want that, and you think you're prepared for the bad, but you want the good-bad. This place is bad-bad. The salsa tastes like they used the sauce from a can of spaghettiOs as the base. The chips felt like they had been under the lamp a long time, and tasted worse. My daughter ordered fajita nachos and I ordered a Tex-Mex plate... enchilada, taco, tamale kind of thing. The food came out (trying desperately not to exaggerate here) 3 minutes after we ordered. That is never a good omen. The nachos were stale chips and liquid American cheese. You could probably get better nachos at a bingo parlor in northern Wisconsin. The fajita meat is marinated with a heavy dose of soy sauce. Lots of places do that; I can't fault these guys for it, but I prefer my fajitas taste like they came from Puebla, not Peking. My plate was worse. The rice tasted old, like it was under a lamp next to a bunch of greasy chips for a long time. The tamale and enchilada were tiny, but the tamale looked like the ones you buy in the frozen section, but tasted worse. The sauce was very light brown and runny. Sometimes I make school cafeteria quality cheese enchiladas at home... the recipe is literally from an elementary school, and it's kind of famous on the web. They're supposed to be bad, but good-bad. They scratch that itch. Those cheese enchiladas are Michelin Star quality compared to these. In fact, I don't remember seeing any cheese inside the tortilla. Maybe they mean the plastic cheese sauce dripped over the rubbery enchilada sauce? At this point I guess you can imagine the taco for yourself. Flavorless ground beef... like... not even salt and pepper... greasy crispy shell that is no longer crispy.... And shredded fake velveeta (sadly, the best cheese of the meal). This food was like something a Latvian who binged Narcos season 2 would think Mexican food is supposed to be. The bar seemed to be doing a brisk business, so good for them. Go there for a frozen and an Astros game, but eat before you get there. read more
