Fish and shrimp à la Diabla

We had a great time at Tonati for my mother in laws birthday. Our waitress Kelly was amazing and super attentive she made sure my mom had a dessert and we sang Happy Birthday. The drinks were good and not watered down. The casamiento was delicious. The fish and shrimp were bland and the Mexican rice my wife ordered tasted like jasmine rice with oil and a little Tomato paste. The gorditas were good but had a little too much masa. They were a little This for my liking.

Beautifully decorated restaurant located in a small retail center. Parking can be limited if very busy but that would never turn me away. The restaurant is relatively small and the staff closely monitors each table. The menu is surprisingly large with many food and drink options for happy hour. The food is simple but so delicious. The fajita beef enchiladas with refried black beans were full of flavor. However, the margaritas were the star of the experience. The margarita flight had four ceramic mugs generously filled flavored options. They seem to only come frozen but you may want help putting them away. Overall, an excellent choice for TexMex dining without the rush often experienced with chain restaurants.

    Birria tacos - Very spicy

My daughter wanted for some reason to try Birria Tacos so I found this restaurant close by our house on Google. I realized quickly as we walked in that this is where Pane Vino used to be. It's a super cute & cozy location. The staff were all amazingly nice but the food was just okay. The Birria tacos were a total no-go. They were way too spicy and the meat didn't really have much flavor, plus the birria sauce was just grease, lots of it. The sopes cubano were really good & the street tacos were also great. The beans were not really good, they tasted like beans with water & a little bit of pico. Overall, I think I would give them another try.

Where have I been? This is a little gem right around the corner from my home for nearly the past 20 years. It's a wonderful restaurant absolute delicious food surroundings, and service. Tex-Mex in and around Houston Texas has to be exceptional in order to survive. It is the most ubiquitous cuisine. in this area of Texas and as such must be outstanding in order for a restaurant to survive, and I can assure you this restaurant that has been here for I don't know how many years will survive however many years more the owner and manager wish for it to survive. Salsa and chips are always a good way to predict your mail and in this particular establishment both are truthfully outstanding. Guacamole is another indicator and the guacamole in this particular restaurant is flavorful abundant and quite fresh. Lastly, I had a plantain with chicken and a chimichurri sauce , which was incredible. I've never really had anything like this before in a Mexican restaurant, but it was just wonderful. The bar has quality liquor or mixed drinks, which are an incredible compliment to an already wonderful experience. I would assume I'm the last person in the neighborhood to even know that this establishment exist, but I must tell you it is well worth visiting.

If you didn't KNOW...NOW YOU KNOW! The hubby and I was craving Mexican street tacos and we stopped in to try their Happy Hour menu. Our waitress Deana was the BEST and suggested the Sopes Cubanos and they were so delicious. Also, I've tried the Birria tacos and the flavors and consommé is simply amazing. HIGHLY recommend! Deana was so excited to service us and super friendly and accommodating to make our dining experience more enjoyable. Please come and try their authentic menu so they can stay open in Katy to serve the best homemade Mexican street tacos and food!! Hats off to the Chef kiss and owner and of this restaurant. From the service, fresh craft drinks, food and cleanliness of the bathrooms you know they care about their customers. The Best Foodie Review :-)

Love this restaurant! Tonati's is not your average Tex Mex and frankly think that it's more Mex than Tex. However you categorize this place, you will enjoy great dishes, excellent service, fun cocktails all wrapped in a beautiful restaurant Save room for dessert!

    Watermelon aquafresca was delicious

Reached out about 10 days prior to an event for catering for 30. Quote was professional, delivery and setup was efficient and cordial, and food was fantastic. Only thing was some of the meat on top of container wasn't hot but it heated up quickly once sternos were on for a bit and I stirred. We have some vegetarians so they provided a lovely tray of grilled veggies along with the beef and chicken fajitas. The food was presented beautifully and it was delicious and plentiful. Will definitely recommend!

10/10 every time I visit! The tacos gobe are by far my favorite item on the menu! They are shrimp tacos in a garlic sauce & they are so flavorful. The tortillas are so good and the texture is amazing! We also got the Tonati chicken & it was delicious as well! I got a watermelon agua fresca and it was very flavorful! The owner is also such a kind person and remembers me each time I go, which is so sweet!

Very good food and very good service. Highly recommended for anyone that's in the area. The place is small and maybe fits 10-20 people but it's very very well decorated, and the watermelon juice is phenomenal

    Street tacos

Authentic Mexican food! Street taco and sopes were amazing. I also loved the fact that my margarita was served in a cantaritos.

Tonati Mexican Grill wasn't our first choice initially (we were considering a different cuisine with some rough reviews), but I'm so glad we decided to give it a shot! The food was delicious and flavorful, the decor was fantastic, the staff were friendly, and the bathrooms were clean. My only minor complaint is that our server forgot my drink and the side I ordered, and the parking fills up quickly. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to coming back the next time I'm in town (I'm from California).

Similar to other recently opened venues that serve beer on tap and feature both indoor and outdoor spaces, there is something available for all ages in your party. Though parking is free in their lot, it does quickly fill up as the evening progresses. Our friends had reserved a few tables outside, but it also turned out to be the coldest day of the year, so we ended up settling inside. We sampled sliders, hot dogs, flat breads, pizza, pretzels, nachos, and chicken lollipops, which were served in metal catering trays along a long table. All the food items that were ordered were good. We did not order anything to drink, but the servers did a great job of coming by our tables to see if we needed anything throughout the evening, and he had quite a large party. The outdoor space is pretty large, with open areas of turf for lawn games and kids to run around. There is also ample outdoor seating, with a few food trucks along the outer part of the venue. Not sure if these are left out year-round, but they had these fire pit space heater/light sources between the tables that provided a nice touch to the outdoor space, especially as the evening grew darker. Although we don't live nearby, this was a great spot to celebrate a birthday, hang out with friends, date night, etc. I definitely recommend this place if you live on this side of town.

It has very much of a family and older crowd and is not really a place for the youth. However, my friend reserved tables in the cocktail lounge, which had a completely different ambience from the surrounding beer garden. It was cute, and the cocktails were fun. I got the Pretty is as Pretty Does, which is a sweet vodka cocktail with pineapple juice. The prices were pretty normal, with mine on the lower end being $12 + tip. It was hard to order with all the customers though, and it took a long time for the drinks to be made. Their parking lot is very small for the size of the establishment, and they have additional diagonal spots along the street that stretch for a looooong distance. It's very strange how they designed it.

We were in Fulshear and wanted to try something different that we don't have near us, so we decided to give it a shot. The restaurant itself is beautiful on the outside with an inside that has a modern, open design. You come in and seat yourself, and while there were several tables available, the restaurant definitely wasn't empty. There were people dining in the back room and out on the porch. It was a gorgeous day, but we opted for the AC. Service wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't especially attentive. It took a while for someone to come by with menus, and throughout the meal things just seemed to move slowly despite the restaurant not appearing understaffed. I don't mind a relaxed pace, but I also don't want to spend my entire afternoon sitting indoors at some random restaurant waiting around. We started with chips and queso. The chips were decent, but the queso was extremely thin and soupy--more like cheese soup than queso--thus definitely not worth the $10 price tag. Unless you love soupy queso. Then maybe it's definitely worth the $10 to you. For lunch, my brother and mom ordered The Local Burger with Fries and added avocado, my friend ordered the Beef Tenderloin Steak Wrap with Chips, and I tried the Spicy Buffalo Pizza because honestly, every menu starts looking the same after a while, and I wanted something different. Unfortunately, there were several issues with our order. Everyone's food arrived but my brother's because our server somehow assumed mom and he were sharing one burger since they ordered the same thing. They also forgot the avocado add-on for both burgers. Mom gave my brother her basket, and they shared the burger until his came, which was about 10 to 15 minutes later. Mom liked the fries because they came out hot and weren't overly salted, but neither she nor my brother really raved about the burgers. I think by then they forgot they asked for avocado, and we weren't charged for it, but that's kind of annoying to ask for something and nothing is said...they just quietly make sure not to charge you for it. The Spicy Buffalo Pizza was probably the biggest disappointment for me. I expected a more traditional buffalo chicken pizza, but instead it was kind of a layered, heavily drizzled mess that didn't really work together. The crust also appeared to be some sort of cornmeal-style crust that wasn't my favorite and didn't hold up well under the weight of the toppings. It was the kind of slice you knew would end up on you rather than in you, so I was really careful to make sure it hit the pizza board and not me. I ended up boxing most of it for my housemate. Mark wanted dessert, and they have something called "The Spot Ice Cream Sandwich," which is a brownie or assorted cookie with vanilla ice cream and toppings. Mom asked whether he could simply order the brownie by itself, and our server Victor said he would ask, but we never actually got an answer. One thing that really annoys me at restaurants is charging $4 for fountain drinks and then not keeping them refilled. Victor did eventually ask about refills, but by then the meal was basically over. Overall, this place wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. The atmosphere and design are probably the strongest part of the experience. I wouldn't necessarily avoid it, but I also wouldn't go out of my way to come back. What made lunch even funnier is that next door at Cross Creek Ranch, there's a hanging sign advertising an "observation deck." We had debated going before lunch but decided to eat first and then check it out afterward. Much like the restaurant itself, the concept sounded far more impressive than the actual experience. There really wasn't much to observe. I just found it amusing that both experiences ended up being equally mediocre.
