Stopped into Los Cucos to check out their happy hour. Enjoyed a strawberry margarita, chicken quesadilla, and a taco. The food was great, the bartenders were friendly and courteous. Visiting family in the area, and really enjoyed our first visit to this legendary restaurant! The staff was very accommodating of the little kiddos we brought, and we greatly appreciated the combination of speed, patience, and friendliness of the staff! They have plenty of parking, seating, and play great Latino music to accompany whatever game is playing on the TVs. Favorite dish was the Pescado Cancun (~$25), which came with scallops, crab, and plenty of rice/frijoles charros. Would order it again, and hope to visit the next time we're in town. read more

Juicy and tender meats that are seasoned well and go hand in hand with the hot tortillas. This location is right on Hwy 90 in Katy and has plenty of parking in the strip plaza its located in. Weekdays before like 4 there's not very many people here and the salsa is amazing. I absolutely love the red salsa. It's very much a Texan Mexican place, so plenty of options for kids that aren't spicy. The parking lot is large because it's in a center, so it shares parking, but if you go on a busy day and it's rainy bring the umbrella because you will be walking in the rain. read more

I met a friend here for lunch and had a bit of a hard time finding vegetarian options. These are usually pretty easy in Mexican restaurants, but not here. I ended up getting the mix and match enchiladas dinner, and it was definitely large enough for two meals. Most Mexican restaurants on the east coast use white cheese, but this one used yellow. Los Cucos has managed to be open and give their patrons great service in a COVID-19 safe manner. On my most recent visit we actually started the evening at another location but there was a huge line. It wasn't the line that bothered me, it was the incompetence of the restaurant that made me leave. On arrival at Los Cucos we found that they set up a drive through out side the front and also made limited tables available inside as long as the guest wore a mask when not at a table. We went inside. The service was better than in the past. With fewer patrons it felt we were getting more personal service. The food and margaritas were as always. Los Cucos is a solid go-to Tex-Mex around Houston. This may be the original? There are locations in nearly every part of town that I frequent, Spring/Humble, 290 l, Clay Rd and Katy. They are all excellent. The menu is has lots of choices, the food is consistently good and I always have to get a box for leftovers. I generally get some type of fish and have never been disappointed. My son loves the beef fajitas. The wife and friends we meet up with all the time have never complained and usually get a couple of margaritas. It's not a top of the line place like Pappasito's but it doesn't have the price tag like it, either. The service is good, they see us pretty much every week. We came here after my friends graduation ceremony yesterday. Server was really nice and the only reason I am not giving you 1 star. We had a parrillada jalisco, some margaritas and sopapillas. Something was wrong with the food because I only ate one taco and felt bloated. Today woke up and threw up. Overall descent experience, but not a 5 star from this ole Yelped. My brother, who has since passed away, loved this place. I got a hair cut next door so I decided to stop in for lunch. I had cheese enchiladas, rice and beans plus a small side of guacamole. Prices were a bit high but what isn't these days. The food was mediocre at best but I decided on 3 stars because the portions were nice. The service was terrible, this is a large restaurant and there was on 7 tables occupied, I counted 8 front of the house employees but they were all grouped together talking and ignoring the customers. I will not be going back to this establishment. The food in my opinion wasn't great. The birria tacos were dry and the chicken is from a can and tastes like it. I will say I didn't mind the chips and salsa which tasted good. My biggest complaint is the service. Our waitress had an attitude and hardly checked in on us. When we complained about our chicken she seemed bothered and didn't offer a solution. She said she had to go ask on what to do. She came back and said they can fix it, again she never smiled at us or said sorry and I know she didn't cook it but she didn't care at all. Before eating they serve you with unlimited chips and salsa! The chips are in house made and are always fresh and crispy. They have green salsa and red salsa. I love the green salsa, it is of avocado flavor I think! It is truly spectacular and I continue to eat it even after my main meal. I usually get one of the fajita platters as they are of good size, let you try a variety of meats, and you can build your fajita taco! This is my go to Mexican food place in Katy. I have been coming here for years and always forget to check in because I am just chowing down soon as the chips and homemade salsa arrives. Good margarita specials and consistently good food and service. Try the Sambrosa. I may have spelled that wrong but it has a fajita taco. Large lump of delicious and tender pork, tortillas and a 3 cheese enchilada that is soooo good. It comes with rice and beans as well. So bring your appetite or get a doggie bag. And that the shredded cheese was the queso (I understand queso is cheese is eapanol). But gosh. Plus the waitress who rolled her eyes, and yelling that they closed, but went to the back and brought me out queso they DID NOT HAVE. Honey you could have ate that yourself. I sure in the hell did NOT TRUST that. I was willing to pay for my taco, which was the Only thing eaten by me. Management and I spoke of it, and he took care of the entire ticket. (Plus I order after my meal is served. I only drink alcohol while I eat). Strawberry margarita is served with sugar on glass. I didn't even have to ask! (I forgot honestly) Only negative experience, which is not terrible. Is that my tamale, was served cold in center. And the fix that issue.
