The wife and I, our son, her son and his wife and her sister all headed over to see what took the place of La Finca. I was only ever at La Finca for 2 graduation parties so no way to judge the difference. I read some prior Yelp reviews and saw various criticisms but, we did not experience any of those. We were greeted and seated quickly. Orders were taken timely. Appetizers and meals came out timely. Food was very good. My wife and I split an order of street tacos, as it was Taco Tuesday and the special was 4 street tacos, your choice, and a beer. She had a margarita. We found no issues and enjoyed the meal. My family and I arrived at La Cantina Mexican Restaurant on FM 1093 at 8:00 p.m., one hour before the 9:00 p.m. closing time posted on the door and listed online. We were told the restaurant was closed and asked to leave. When I asked about the posted hours, the waiter responded rudely. I requested to speak with a manager, but that request was denied. We received no explanation for why the restaurant had closed an hour early. We have enjoyed dining here previously, but this experience has changed our willingness to return. An early closure may be necessary on occasion; customers should still receive a courteous explanation and respectful treatment. Based on how my family and I were treated, I cannot recommend this location. My rating for the service we received is 0 out of 5 stars. read more

I came try out this new place and found it to be good at some things and not as good at others. Would give it 3.5 stars if I could because there is potential. The things I found to be great: Definitely love the owner comes around and is so friendly. I love the updated decor of the restaurant with bright colors. I found the beef fajitas to be very tender and full of flavor. The flour tortillas were delicious and fresh. The parts I think could be better: the salsas could be more flavorful, the queso is so plain and definitely needs improving, our server did not get our order correct and didn't come back to check on us for a long time so we ended up having to flag down the owner to help us. Lastly, we did not receive a drink menu so we asked if they offered a skinny margarita and our server said yes and brought out a huge one but then when we went to pay- it was nearly $20! I wish I had known that! All in all, I'll likely give it another go after they get through the just opening hump. read more

So.... I'm sitting in La Finca... Oops "La Cantina" now... I thought I'd give it a try and see for myself... Ughh... It's La Finca! They just changed the name, painted the walls these obnoxious colors, placed a battery operated light on the table and walla! I give you "La Cantina"! The food is exactly the same. Terrible... The service is exactly the same... Terrible... The atmosphere is exactly the same... Terrible... I ordered chicken fajitas, what could possibly go wrong? The chicken appeared to be precooked. The onions were burned to a crisp. The flour tortillas seemed to be homemade, but the corn tortillas were store bought The atmosphere is so weird here! It's 1:44pm and I'm literally the only customer in here! I'm listening to terrible mariachi music, while every once and a while getting interrupted by a Burger King and Auto Zone commercial in Spanish... The staff is on their cell phones, leaning on the service kiosk while watching a cupcake baking challenge on the Food Network... I look over and there is a huge disco ball spinning with a strobe light that randomly turns on... Party!! The server is spying on me while I write this post... LOL If you didn't like La Finca, then don't bother coming... My guess is the "new management" is not present or doesn't care... If my restaurant just opened up, then I would be there from opening to closing talking to customers and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Just saying... I hope that helps! Gotta go now! read more

If you're thinking of trying the restaurant formerly know as La Finca at 1093 & Westheimer Lakes N - DON'T!! Not just super slow service but flat out rude. The food was gross. The beef fajita meat (tacos al carbon) was mostly all fat, not edible. I had to leave before my husband was done eating to take my daughter home b/c she was feeling sick from the food. Over $100 for some tacos, an order of queso, and 1 sweet tea, what a waste! Not worthy of even 1 star, should be negative 5 stars. read more

Good..... chips and salsa Bad......We ordered a handful of items and were not wowed by anything. The sampler appetizers were terrible. The potato skins were cold like they haven't been fully thawed out. The Queso was like anything you would get off of the shelf at a gas station. They had a brunch for $29.99 available. (This was on a Sunday) We took a look and it wasn't that exciting. We didn't see anyone eating from there. I personally thought it was overpriced for what I saw. Overall thoughts.... I realize this restaurant is under new management but it felt the exact same as it did last time we were there. If you are charging $29.99 for a buffet it should come with a free beer or mimosas. The food just seemed mediocre and was all fried in the same fryer. We actually had a brunch at a tex mex restaurant in San Antonio a few weeks ago and it was fantastic!! $25 bucks and you got bottomless mimosas or two beers with it.The place was packed and to be honest the food wasn't the best but descent. The atmosphere was a lot of fun and so was the people watching. It just was great seeing everyone having a great time. I would love for this place to do something similar. Give a good product and a good price and they will come. It's a big restaurant and there was only about 15 people in there. read more

We went there for the second time last night and will certainly be back again soon. The enchiladas were excellent and we love the homemade flour chips that come with the queso:) The margaritas and pina coladas were good and the rice and beans are delicious. They have a playground on the front patio and a large private room you can reserve for a party. There was a different Mexican restaurant previously in this space that did not impress us but since La Cantina came in, it's been a big turnaround. We highly recommend you give it a try! read more

We just heard there was a new restaurant where La Finca used to be. My friend had the tacos and I had the tacos Al carbon. My meat was very flavorful, sauces were good, and the refried beans were great(my friend and I judge Mexican restaurants by how good the beans are). Service was good as well.
