Our first visit to Ambriza was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the beautiful ambiance and welcoming atmosphere. A special shoutout to Ulises, who made our experience exceptional. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and fast without ever making us feel rushed. Since it was our first time visiting, they even surprised us with complimentary corn on the cob, which was such a thoughtful touch. The food was outstanding and came out surprisingly quickly. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. My husband was also impressed by the attention to detail throughout the restaurant--even the restroom was stocked with everything you could think of, from toothpicks to mouthwash, which was especially appreciated after enjoying all the delicious corn and black beans! It's rare to find a restaurant that combines amazing food, excellent service, and thoughtful hospitality so well. We left already talking about our next visit, and we can't wait to come back and try their margaritas. Highly recommend! read more

We had one of the worst dining experiences ever at Ambriza La Centerra. After living in Houston for 15 years and dining all over the city, this was by far the most disappointing restaurant experience we've had. What made it even more frustrating is that we've been to the Cypress location many times, and every single visit there has been exceptional -- great food, great service, and consistently enjoyable. Unfortunately, the La Centerra location was the complete opposite. We waited over an hour for our food, only to receive the wrong appetizer. The fajita plate arrived cold and without rice, beans, or tortillas. We sent both dishes back. The replacement appetizer -- ceviche tostadas -- finally arrived, but it was overloaded with lemon to the point of being unbearably sour. Meanwhile, there were still no tortillas, rice, or beans in sight. No drink refills, no updates, and barely any service during the entire wait. After another long stretch of waiting, we finally asked the server what was happening, only for her to return and tell us the kitchen was closing and they no longer had tortillas, rice, or beans available. At that point, after nearly 1.5 hours, we walked out with nothing but a to-go box of fajita meat. To the manager's credit, they removed the appetizer and fajita charges from the bill, but the experience itself left such a bad taste that it completely overshadowed the gesture. Extremely disappointing, especially compared to the excellent standards we've experienced at the Cypress location. Sadly, we will not be returning to this location. read more

The vibe here was fun but the prices were scary. We opted for the rooftop lounge and loved that there was a live band. The weather was great and the company was as well. The server we got was SOOOOO SLOW. We ended up getting up and getting our drinks and food at the bar. He would walk by us and we would have almost physically grab him to get him to take our order. When i closed out he stood over me and watch and gave attitude when he saw I was not tipping. I tipped the bartender because he was nice and gave us our things in a timely manner. The food was ok. Your typical Tex Mex. The quesadillas had way too much cheese. Yes I know, I know quesadillas have cheese but I wanted pastor quesadillas and it had so much cheese I couldn't taste the meat. My husbands coworker had the tacos and she liked them. The drinks were pricey and tasted more like juice. I a drinker so I want to taste the alcohol. I drink Old Fashioneds and they are nothing but liquor yet they tasted weak. Not sure how they did that. I was told the margarita was good but I didn't try them. The rooftop lounge was really cute and i loved that they had a live band. I'm not in the area and i didn't like it enough to make the tip out there again. read more

Our waiter was so funny, everybody in the restaurant looked like they were having a good time, and the food was pretty good now that I know what to order. Chips and Salsa - 9.5/10 Margaritas - 10/10. I loved the hospitality at this place omg it was great. our server was very nice and attentive and since I was a first timer i got a free corn elote and it was delicious. That corn elote was incredibly juicy and the right amount of lime. I forgot to take a picture of it with how fast i scarfed it down. Any questions don't be afraid to ask they got you. Our drinks were delicious. Personally i'm a heavyweight but my friend who's a lightweight was having a grand ole time. Both margs (passion fruit habanero and tamarind chile) in term of flavor were a 9 but I preferred the passion fruit for its tangyness. The chicken empanadas were flaky, crispy, juicy and everything you could want. In terms of vibe it was perfect for a nice catchup with a friend. We had such an amazing food experience at Ambriza. We got lucky and didn't have to wait too long especially on a Saturday evening. The servers were so knowledgeable and proud of the Mexican heritage they're wanting to represent. As first timers, we were welcomed with the most delicious, warm and soft conchas I have ever tried. Place is super cute and bright, clean. Greeted when we walked in. I was invited over after a friend said they were going for happy hour so I figured why not try it. Started off with water, chips and salsa and then ordered a margarita. Eventually ordered Baja fish tacos, they were delicious and well worth the $7 (2 are given in this order, no sides). Mango chamoy margarita I got frozen with tajin rim and loved it, first time trying a mango margarita. Only negatives were it took forever to put in a food order. It was a guy going around serving water that we told we were ready to order since the guy at the bar hadn't checked on us in awhile, so he had to get someone's attention to do that for us. And then our original bartender clocked out so it was a while before another person checked on us. Also it wasn't until the end that we noticed they had purse holders to the right of the doors. 3 girls walk in with purses and you'd think they offer one since there's no hooks at the bar. We ended our meal with the mini churros for dessert, which came with three different dipping sauces--one was definitely chocolate, and the others I can't quite remember, but they were all so good. Highly recommend trying them! The atmosphere was lively and inviting. I've heard the rooftop turns into more of a club vibe at night with music, though I haven't experienced that myself. First time going and more than likely won't be back. $200 spent for overly salty food, everyone's food seemed to be rung in at the same time but all came out 20/30 minutes apart. The appetizers literally came with the entree's. Work needs to be done in the kitchen with cook times and being heavy handed on the salt. The drinks didn't come with waters which also came 20/30 minutes apart. What seemed to be the manager came to the table to ask me what I had for my drink (which was empty) like he was going to refill it - only for that drink to never come. 3 of my friends which who I payed for were even missing bits of their food. (Sides) I got the poblano steak rice but was given the Birria rice instead (not knowing because it was my first time here) and someone else from the staff seemed irritated about that when they had originally brought out my original plate. Birria/rice was insanely salty, the poblano steak was just covered in what tasted like Tabasco but still good because I like Tabasco - though the rice was still salty. The elote for the appetizer was salty too. Everyone at the table who got their food even talked about how salty their dishes were. This place was busy which is a shocker for how long everything took to reach the table, how salty the food was, the waitress didn't come by but a few times which I wasn't even sure who exactly it was because multiple people kept coming by. It's truly hard to imagine this restaurant staying open much longer. Tip is automatically included in the bill, but I did end up tipping more regardless of the experience. read more

I am utterly obsessed with Ambriza. What an amazing, elevated spot with incredible food and great service. We arrived and there was a wait, so we took our chances and ended up scoring two open seats at the bar. We were greeted quickly by the bartender with menus, ready to take our drink order. I heard great things about the margs so I obviously had to try them (don't tempt me with a good time) and went with the cucumber Serrano and it was wonderful. It wasn't too sweet and didn't taste like premix. Loved the tajin on the rim! I also ended up trying her passion fruit habanero which was delicious as well. I recommend trying the cucumber Serrano one first! Since it was my first time, I ended up getting some street corn brought to my table. I loved it! Very authentic tasting and fresh. For food I got the chicken fajitas. The presentation was wonderful and the veggies were cooked perfectly. I will definitely be back when I come back to Katy. read more

I've actually been to Ambriza a few times but in Cypress. This was my first time in Katy. We came to celebrate a friend of ours upcoming wedding. Overall we had a great time, management and our waitress was great. I was a little disappointed because somehow the server didn't notice my food never came out while my friends were basically done with their meal. She never came back to the table to check. I had to flag another server to get her attention. She stated she put the order in but not sure why it didn't come out. She tried putting in the order, at that point I was over it and we were leaving. She was very apologetic which I appreciate but in the future I would recommend servers to verify all of their orders came out. Just kinda sucked. I am not a huge fan of the food here but the drinks are amazing! read more

I've never been to La Centre so it was interesting to see a new side of town but Houston is very cookie cutter. Most of the same shops found here are in Sugarland, Spring Branch and Woodland city centers. So we tried a new restaurant at least. Staff was nice, didn't like the photographer walking around asking if he can take and sell us pics, the restaurant is cool but a bit gimmicky. Has casual vibes. Food was ok, just average. Overall we had an good time but definitely not great enough to make the long drive back to come for more. read more

Ohhh how I really enjoyed this restaurant! I came on a Saturday for brunch with a friend and it was a blast. I made a reservation online although it was a little tricky because the portal wouldn't allow me to select more than one person for the reservation and when I called, the woman on the phone told me I could only make reservations for parties of 8 or more. Anywho, there was still ample seating from what it appeared when we arrived around 1PM. Roberto was our waiter and he was phenomenal! He had a huge personality and was very helpful with explaining the menu and helping us decide what to order. I will say the menu was very extensive and as a picky eater it was nice to have a bunch of options to choose from! For my drink, I ordered the mimosa margarita (frozen) and absolutely enjoyed it!For my meal I ordered the Chilaquiles and my friend and I split the French toast! again everything was absolutely delicious! Admittedly I've never been to Ambriza for brunch but I have for dinner and I've never been a fan but I think the brunch menu might be better than the regular menu. I have been to the Ambriza on Louetta and it was FANTASTIC. So I talked a friend of mine to go to the one in Katy with me. It was last Saturday night and it was very busy. We tried to get a seat in the restaurant or at the bar but they both had about an hour wait. So, they said they had room at the "Ambriza Lounge" upstairs. Cool!, we thought. First we had to check in at the elevator. The hostess confirmed they had seating available upstairs so she allowed us to go up. It was a huge space but still kinda early so about half empty. There were only 2 of us but they made us sit in what felt like waiting room chairs right by the front entry. It was awkward and uncomfortable but apparently all the empty tables were already reserved by larger parties who weren't there yet. There were multiple waiters milling around chatting but nobody showed an interest in us at all. Finally we flagged someone down and asked them if we could order drinks. He had to convince someone else to take our order. Come to Find out there were only 4 items on the lounge menu. No queso, no corn on the cob, both of which I had raved about to my friend but no worries I told her just wait for the margaritas. We ordered standard fare guacamole dip and quesadilla. The louetta location was really magical. The staff was so excited to be there. The elote corn on the cob was very memorable for a first time visitor. The margaritas were out of this world with a little extra sidecar for fun. You felt them right away. The Ambriza Lounge was dull, uninspired and felt forced. The menu selections had nothing on Taco Bell and the margaritas had too much ice, were weak and tasted more like Taco Cabana. Just all Sooo disappointing. By the time we left I noticed all the tables we weren't allowed to sit at were still empty. And then to add insult to injury we got the ticket and there was an option to add 3%, 7% or 10%. I already knew the answer but I asked the server what this was. Have you already added 20% onto this ticket. Yes! Was the answer. Apparently that's the deal in the "lounge" area. Unbeknownst to us. This for some of the worst service, dining experience, atmosphere I've experienced in Houston. What's so sad is yall clearly know how to run a great restaurant. I'm not sure why this Katy facility is so awful in so many ways. The Houston Restaurant market is fickle just ask the Pappas family. I may give you a third try but I doubt I'll ever get my friends through your doors again. You need to do better. There should be ZERO difference in the margaritas you serve downstairs in the bar and what you're pouring upstairs in the lounge. The menu doesn't have to be identical but it should contain a robust selection from your standard menu. To include a standard 20% tip for that experience is offensive to say the least. I think we got a new waiter who seemed very flustered and forgetful but that's ok. The not great part were the drinks. They were weak and tasted very artificial. The small notes were dry and not very appetizing. So next time maybe I'll eat and drink downstairs then go upstairs. Also only ONE restroom. Yikes! read more

Came here because we were intrigued by the clock tower outside. They have live music and dancing on the upstairs open patio on the weekends. Also have happy hour every week day. Happy hour all day Monday and from 2-7pm other weekdays with margaritas at their cheapest closer to 2pm. Thanks to our amazing server Zee who explained everything to us. He was super attentive and thoughtful the entire meal. Friendly but not too overbearing. The inside decor was lively and colorful. We sat at the high top tables near the bar. It was our first time there so a manager came out and brought us elote corn on the cob drenched with cheese, tajin and cilantro. It was so good crunchy and juicy. The extra bottle of tajin was a great touch. You also get tortilla chips with red and green sauce. Nothing too spicy and the chips were good weight with excellent crunch and texture. Then we also got 2 margaritas on the rocks. They were flavored margaritas cucumber jalapeño and passion fruit serrano. They were good and not too sweet. We shared a ceviche tostado and chicharron rib eye. The tostados were strong and didn't crumble easily with each bite. The ceviche was fresh and flavored well. Nice dose of avocado on top. The chicharron was seasoned and cooked well with some charred edges which added really good texture. You have choice of corn or flour tortilla and can get both (unlimited). There was plenty of food to share! We can't wait to come back and try more options, especially on the weekend with live music. read more

I'm giving this a 3 star review because we really did have a polarizing visit. The salsa, elote, and margs were so delicious! Margaritas are strong too. I only had one, and it was enough. Then the food came out... ceviche was lukewarm and fajitas weren't sizzling. It was clear our food had been sitting out for a while. The fajitas were small for the money too! We were all very disappointed. It took a good 15-20 minutes for the manager to make it over to us which means were weren't eating. So we sat there on chips and salsa for seemed like forever with our table being avoided by the severs. We ordered extra shrimp and steak when she finally got to our table. When they came out, it was fresh and sizzling and was seasoned well. Problem is... it was my friend's birthday and we had a bad experience where we and our food sat there for a long time. I think you might be able to have a better experience than us. The place was packed so they clearly are doing something right. If you're looking for a good margarita with chips and salsa, go check it out. Hope you get better service and food than we did though. read more
