Even though we have been to Local table (next door) multiple times, this was my first time at Local Bar in the new location & it was a lot of fun, did not disappoint! I loved the drinks, especially the shot wheel was fun & the shots were great! We got the Barbie on a Monday & I loved it! The Happy Hour specials were also really great & service was on point! I believe I have reviewed this Restaurant before, but in the event that I have not, I'd simply like to give accolades to the staff, whose service is impeccable, the bar whose concoctions are simply wonderful to experience, to the kitchen staff, whose meals are always quite good flavorful and abundant, and lastly, to the owners who provide a lovely ambience, and obviously incredible management of a very capable staff. I love coming here! It's not too hard to get a seat, service is friendly and helpful, and it's delicious food. I ordered a salad with crispy chicken on the side and changed the dressing choice to the jalapeño ranch dressing- everything came out just as I requested. The chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Lettuce was fresh and crisp. It really is a wonderful place that is conveniently located in Katy. read more

The wife and I went on a Tuesday night while the daughter was a dance and was not impressed. It was Taco Tuesday, so we ordered the queso and two orders of tacos (1 Beef and 1 Chicken). We took one bite of the queso and had to send it back because it had a very funky taste like the cheese was bad. The tacos were nothing special but for a $1 what do you expect. As for the service, our waitress really didn't want to be at work so she never came around. Many times we had to go to the bar or approach a different waiter to get service. Will not go again as this is the second bad experience we have had there. Maybe it's that we aren't going on a busy night but that shouldn't matter. read more

My wife and I love local bar. It is one of the places we go to treat ourselves. Excellent service and very good lemon drops. The pizza and hummus board are amazing. Normally I would put five stars, but they got rid of the tater tots. Please bring the tater tots back! The loaded french fries are just not the same. read more

The Local Bar was awesome! We got there before the rush which was nice because we were able to sit anywhere we wanted. The hostesses were nice and greeted us as soon as we walked in the door. We had Carlos as our server and he really was so freakin' awesome! He gave suggestions, came to check on us, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. We ordered Piña colada cocktails based on his suggestion and those were really good. We ordered the veggie burger with black bean in the burger and their fries are also really good! We ended the night with a molten brownie with ice cream on top! Wow, we tried not to finish it but it was gone! lol By the time we finished the place was completely full and buzzing with conversation and good service. I don't live anywhere near here but I would recommend this spot to anyone in the area. Carlos made the experience so cool! He had a great personality and sense of humor. Yoooo! Yelper's. Waaasuuuuup!?!?!? Trying to get that to come back. It's not happening. But let me tell you what is happening! It's The Local Bar. This is a happening little place. The parking is not the best but walk a little way to the parking garage and you'll be fine. It's free parking. The staff is great. I've been going the last three years and had no trouble whatsoever. They used to have a bottle buy list from the older stuff. But that's no longer available. Try any of the red blend you'll really enjoy it. The Hawaiian pizza is to die for. It's not too noisy either. Their menu is full of too many tasty choices but tonight I tried the Brussels sprouts with goat cheese pizza and it might be the best pizza topping ever created. This place is within other shops which is similar to cinco ranch lacenterra but much smaller and quieter. It's a neighborhood pub. Beer selection isn't great but they have a lot of infused vodka's as well as a number of unique and interesting cocktails. Didn't try any of the food but gotta tell you it smelled delicious. Someone highly recommended the baked goat cheese but my eye was on the pizza. There was a live band playing which was borderline annoying because it was so loud. Very nice patio but it was raining outside and everything was wet despite it being covered. Place was packed but started clearing out around 11 and it's done by about midnight. Everything else around it was closed and it was pretty much a ghost town. But definitely an interesting place to try. I will definitely be back. read more

I don't mind a relaxed pace, but I also don't want to spend my entire afternoon sitting indoors at some random restaurant waiting around. We started with chips and queso. The chips were decent, but the queso was extremely thin and soupy--more like cheese soup than queso--thus definitely not worth the $10 price tag. Unless you love soupy queso. Then maybe it's definitely worth the $10 to you. For lunch, my brother and mom ordered The Local Burger with Fries and added avocado, my friend ordered the Beef Tenderloin Steak Wrap with Chips, and I tried the Spicy Buffalo Pizza because honestly, every menu starts looking the same after a while, and I wanted something different. Unfortunately, there were several issues with our order. Everyone's food arrived but my brother's because our server somehow assumed mom and he were sharing one burger since they ordered the same thing. They also forgot the avocado add-on for both burgers. Mom gave my brother her basket, and they shared the burger until his came, which was about 10 to 15 minutes later. Mom liked the fries because they came out hot and weren't overly salted, but neither she nor my brother really raved about the burgers. I think by then they forgot they asked for avocado, and we weren't charged for it, but that's kind of annoying to ask for something and nothing is said...they just quietly make sure not to charge you for it. The Spicy Buffalo Pizza was probably the biggest disappointment for me. I expected a more traditional buffalo chicken pizza, but instead it was kind of a layered, heavily drizzled mess that didn't really work together. The crust also appeared to be some sort of cornmeal-style crust that wasn't my favorite and didn't hold up well under the weight of the toppings. It was the kind of slice you knew would end up on you rather than in you, so I was really careful to make sure it hit the pizza board and not me. I ended up boxing most of it for my housemate. Mark wanted dessert, and they have something called "The Spot Ice Cream Sandwich," which is a brownie or assorted cookie with vanilla ice cream and toppings. Mom asked whether he could simply order the brownie by itself, and our server Victor said he would ask, but we never actually got an answer. One thing that really annoys me at restaurants is charging $4 for fountain drinks and then not keeping them refilled. Victor did eventually ask about refills, but by then the meal was basically over. Overall, this place wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. The atmosphere and design are probably the strongest part of the experience. I wouldn't necessarily avoid it, but I also wouldn't go out of my way to come back. What made lunch even funnier is that next door at Cross Creek Ranch, there's a hanging sign advertising an "observation deck." We had debated going before lunch but decided to eat first and then check it out afterward. Much like the restaurant itself, the concept sounded far more impressive than the actual experience. There really wasn't much to observe. I just found it amusing that both experiences ended up being equally mediocre.

The downside was that there just wasn't much of it, so each bite felt less satisfying than I expected. The thicker tempura batter also made the roll feel increasingly oily the more I ate. One small thing I noticed was that they initially gave us very little pickled ginger. We asked for more, and they happily brought out a generous serving. I assume they keep the first portion small because not everyone eats it, but they're more than willing to give you extra if you ask. The atmosphere was pleasant, the music wasn't too loud, and the seats were cozy. Customer service was friendly, fast, and efficient. Overall, my favorite part of the meal was actually the Thai tea because it hit my sweet tooth. The sushi wasn't overly impressive, but it also wasn't underwhelming. Even California Tempura Roll, one of the pricier rolls we ordered, still felt a bit skimpy on the inside. The prices were reasonable, though I wouldn't have minded paying a little more for better flavor and more generous fillings.

Meanwhile, there were still no tortillas, rice, or beans in sight. No drink refills, no updates, and barely any service during the entire wait. After another long stretch of waiting, we finally asked the server what was happening, only for her to return and tell us the kitchen was closing and they no longer had tortillas, rice, or beans available. At that point, after nearly 1.5 hours, we walked out with nothing but a to-go box of fajita meat. To the manager's credit, they removed the appetizer and fajita charges from the bill, but the experience itself left such a bad taste that it completely overshadowed the gesture. Extremely disappointing, especially compared to the excellent standards we've experienced at the Cypress location. Sadly, we will not be returning to this location.
