Hadn't been here in awhile. Updating my review. I really enjoyed my dine-in experience. They now have a printed menu in addition to their extensive specials board that they put on your table. Your server still reads all the specials & tells you how the dish is prepared. I thoroughly enjoyed my sea bass. Others at the table enjoyed their ossa bucca & pettine de mare . Prices are a step above moderate. Portion sizes are decent. The dining area is small & quaint. The decor gives an authentic Italian vibe. Service is attentive. I live a few blocks from Da Vinci so I decided to pop in and try this place on my way home from visiting the nutcracker market. I had worked up a good appetite from walking around and Italian sounded good. When I arrived it was around 5:30 and I was the only one there. I wasn't sure if they were open because it was pretty dark from the street and the open sign was not illuminated. I was undecided on if I wanted take out or dine in but I wanted to try some specials and see how the service was so I opted for dine in. This night was an odd one because center pointe had shut off their gas and locked the meter. So they were unable to cook/heat. I decided to wait because I think it's nice to be kind to local establishments and they all seemed a little stressed. After about 10 minutes I was told it would be okay and they sat me at a table. It took about 15 minutes for anyone to come back to me. I could hear them in the kitchen saying go take care or that lady a few times and eventually someone did come out. I ordered a glass or house Chianti and the crab cake. Chianti was nice and smooth. They brought out complimentary bread with a salmon mousse and olive tapenade. I did need to ask what the dips were as the person that dropped them off did not explain what it was. The crab cake was cold in the middle. When the server came over I did mention it was cold and they remade it for me. It was much better hot. For my entree I got the Seabass. I also ordered the lobster fish for my husband to go. The seafood portions were generous. They did clear my utensils so when my Seabass was served I had nothing to eat it with. No one really paid attention or noticed this so after about 5 minutes I flagged someone down and said I needed utensils so I could eat. Seabass was good, I would probably try something different next time though. The star of the show was the tiramisu. I thought it was incredible. I loved the chocolate chips it in and all the fresh fruit around the sides. At this point the service became slightly better but I never had the same server or person helping me. I had to remind them I had asked for a dish to go. All in all I had a nice meal but I felt it would have been better had someone on the staff at least acknowledge my patience of the fact that I waited though the gas problem and the lack of consistent service. A small thank you or even a complimentary dessert or glass of wine would have gone a long way in making me feel valued. Instead I felt like my business wasn't appreciated and the service was very inconsistent. It would be a solid 4/5 stars with that improvement. read more

What a great meal. Food was wonderful, wine was tasty, and ambiance was relaxed and pleasant.

As a family of 4, we made reservations for a Friday night. The only time they had available was at 5pm, which was fine with us. What a treat! Loved the ambiance and every single food item was amazing! Our waiter, CJ, was knowledgeable and a joy to talk with. My only suggestion is that they could improve the dining experience if they taught the ladies delivering food and clearing the table how to do so properly so they aren't reaching across the table asking a guest to hand them a plate. I'm fairly picky so I was excited to find a restaurant in the Katy area worth returning to. We will be back! read more

We have been coming to Da vinci's restaurant for quite some time. Have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries here and have always been pleased with service and food. But today was different . It was our 14yr anniversary and we made a reservation at da Vinci's for 7pm. Arrived at 7pm and was seated immediately. The problem was our service, it took over 40 mins to get an appetizer, and our main dishes were not served to us till 8:24!! I know the time, because we waited for soo long, I kept checking the time. Not only did our server never come around to check on us, but the Pappardelle Aragosta (seafood pasta) was nothing like it used to be. No lump crab meat, no lump lobster meat, and skimpy on the shrimp. It was shredded crab and small pieces of lobster with only 3 shrimp. I was so disappointed in the food and the way it is managed. 1 server for 15 tables. He was apologetic and nice, but it really does hurt the customer. Please help the server and get someone to help with Togo orders, drinks and dessert. This guys was so overworked. We usually stay for dessert because they make it so special, but we left because god knows how long that would have taken to get . Highly disappointed how it's run now. The charm and attraction is gone. The waiter, CJ, does nothing to enhance your experience. In the past, each waiter came to your table with a chalkboard full of delicious specialties and described each one in detail tempting you to try everything! Gone. Chalkboard resting against the wall, and passed out menus. He did remember to add his gratuity although not entitled to it. As the host, I was totally embarrassed and will never go back. Italian restaurants of this type and setting is a dying form nowadays. Specials are painfully orally read out to you by the waiter (takes like, 5 minutes to go through them all) and the ambiance is very cozy and seating is limited. I will say, eating in is SLOW, this isn't a place to go in and out of. Seating was also a terrible experience as they have no proper hostess/system that I can tell They have a cheaper regular menu and also a really cheap to-go-only course menu. I have had the to-go offerings and its night and day from the actual special courses... in a bad way, this would be a 3 star based on my to-go experience. I recommend the Pappardelle Aragosta as this is their most tasty dish and one of the only pasta dishes where the pasta is made fresh in house and not just brought in. Would I Go Out of My Way to Try? So we were craving some pasta and settled on ordering delivering from this place. They have a great carryout special for $20. Includes an app, starter and dessert. I ordered the lobster bisque, tortellini, and tiramisu. Fiance ordered a salad, spaghetti and cheesecake. Order was well packed, but we were not given the cheesecake that we ordered which was upsetting. 1 star gone for that. My lobster bisque was delicious, as mentioned on the site it also has mixed seafood in it. How much actual lobster was in it was hard to tell, but I was very happy with it. As for my tortellini, it was just ok? We went and dined in years ago and thought the quality and taste were amazing. This dish was lacking in uniqueness and flavor. To put it blunty I could've made this at home or gone to the frozen food section at a store for the exact same thing. Wasn't impressed at all. Tiramisu was just ok but satisfying enough. Maybe dining in yields better results or maybe it was just an off night for them. I won't bother ordering online again, but maybe I'd give it chance again in person. read more

Presentation of the platters/bowls was great! I love how they used natural earthy designs. I kinda like how everyone in there had a different style (color, size, shape) of bowl for soups etc. The Food itself was hit or miss for me! Calamari needed better breading and to be cooked a little longer. But the Redfish was delightful. Minestrone just wasn't my cup of soup, but thats not one I would normally order however I'm lactose intolerant so cream bases are not happening. My husband really enjoyed his meal. read more

It was our 42nd wedding anniversary and we wanted to have some Italian food. We had done carry-out from this restaurant during covid but had never been inside. We have lived in the area for 9 years and decided to give it a try. The staff were gracious and friendly, they treated us like royalty. The place had the Italian vibe decor, very clean and just a little kitschy. The service was impeccable and the food was incredible. It was not cheap but it was fairly priced. All in all it was a wonderful and delicious experience and made for a memorable evening. Pro tip for foodies... order the Antipasto Platter, it was incredible. read more

The service I received tonight has been the best service I've ever experienced in Houston, TX. From the explanation of every item on the special menu to personal dessert recommendations, our preferences were taken into consideration and what was just a regular date night for us was made to feel very special. The food was great - there were so many options to choose from, classics like fettuccine alfredo, or you could get their signature dish like me, and if you're a seafood lover you will be in for a wonderful experience. Went for lunch. We were not greeted for 5 minutes standing inside the doorway area, eventually seated, and after 10 minutes walked out. Did not receive water, nobody took our drink order, came to tell us anything about the menu, or ask if we were ready to order. Customers at a nearby table received part of their order, but were missing items and had to ask a waiter twice in an effort to resolve it. read more

I came here with my boyfriend on a Friday around 9. We were able to get to our table within 10 minutes. The ambiance was romantic and cozy with heart theme throughout. The service was great. Extremely knowledgeable waiter who made great wine and pasta recommendations. We got the lasagna bolognese and a penne pasta with sausage and red sauce (I forgot the name). Both came out super hot and they came by with more parma to put on top. Delicious food, attentive waiter, and romantic ambiance make this place a 5/5. First thing to know, if you have a reservation, you probably won't get seated until about 20 minutes afterwards. This is a fairly tiny restaurant and the food and experience is so great that people aren't in a rush to leave. So pack your patience, but it's worth it! From the outside you wouldn't expect the inside of the location to be so highly decorated. Feels like you've walked right into Italy. Once you finally get seated the waiter will run through their entire menu that's drawn on chalk boards and changes everyday. They will be happy to elaborate on anything, so don't hesitate to ask if you missed any details. There truly isn't a bad item on their menu. It leans more seafood but there are definitely steak and chicken dishes. Make room for desert. Most of them are truly a spectacle to see! read more

I don't like to give bad reviews but I will say I was disappointed with my experience at Da Vinci. 3 of my party ordered the Caesar Salad. The menu promises that it is made using the original Cardini recipe. I love Caesar salad so I couldn't wait. Unfortunately, it was absolutely drenched in dressing. The lettuce was soggy as were the croutons. I actually like wet salads but this was too much. None of us could finish it. I wonder if the salad was completely prepared and mixed earlier and then sat in the fridge. For my entree, I had the Papardelle Aragosta. I guess I could say it was just okay. The server said it was their most popular dish. Another reviewer mentioned the imitation crab and it looked like they were right. There were pockets of nice flavor in the bowl and other parts that were just meh. It was a busy Saturday and I think they only have one server (it's a very small place.) He was a nice guy but never checked on us and I never even had the chance to get a second glass of wine. It's tough running a restaurant. Apparently, this place has been here for years so they must've been doing something right. There was a young man working there who seemed like he may be manager level or higher. He was very customer service oriented; very friendly, cordial and personable. Everyone there appeared to be working very hard. Maybe they're a victim of post-pandemic employee issues. I'm not sure. We made a reservation for 6pm but didn't get spoken to for 15 mins and then didn't get seated until 6:30pm. Would be nice if we had been offered a bite or drink while waiting. The Alla Da Vinci with chicken and Alla Zingara with veal were quite disappointing. The sauce was very thick (corn starch) and overpowering the entire plate, chicken was dry and veal was also so dry we thought it was chicken. Lemonade was powdered lemonade. The Italian cream cake was dry. Mussels were delicious as was the garlic bread and these were the stars of the show. Service was okay after being seated. Cute, cozy ambiance. read more

We've had two experiences. The first was a time we were going to go to the other Italian restaurant in that shopping center and it had an hour wait. We didn't know Da Vinci existed, but noticed it as we pulled away. We didn't have a reservation, and they were busy, so we started to walk away, but the manager saw us, came after us, and said he would make it work. We were seated within 15 minutes. Service and food were both wonderful. Another time, a couple weeks ago, we called to make a reservation, got the voicemail, left a message--and they never bothered to call back. read more

Wow!! What an amazing dining experience. Four of us came to celebrate an occasion and were blown away by the food presentation, the flavors and the excellent service. Our waiter was incredible. He knew so much about the wine, the food, how it was prepared, even the pronunciation of the dishes. For a minute I thought he had to be Italian! We started out with the bruschetta, had lobster bisque and a crab cake and then I had the seafood pasta as my entree while my husband had the filet gnocchi. Our friends had the fish dish and osso buco which looked absolutely amazing. I ended the meal with a cappuccino! The heart theme was everywhere, it was so romantic and cute. The food is always excellent. Our party had eight people and everyone went home stuffed and still had a doggy bag. It is a very small and when full, as it is most nights, it can be noisy. Great food in an intimate setting, with a waiting area, and only about 15-20 tables. The last time we were there, we had reservations, but they were very busy, and we had to wait for an hour or so! Fortuitously, they brought us some drinks and appetizers on the house, to make up for the inconvenience!
