Well I'm updating my review sooner than expected. None of my pictures posted from my 1st review! This place really works for me! You can come casual & still have elevated cocktails in an adult lounge atmosphere. I am not a beer drinker so I come to seat in the lounge. The cocktails are well balanced & enjoyable. I love that you can order their more creative drinks or stick to the classics. They do both drink types well! I tried the food this time. The chicken sliders & the hamburger sliders were both very tasty. I would absolutely get them again. This is a really great place to stop by when you want a grown atmosphere in a casual setting or if you want a great cocktail when you are with the family. You must be 21 to sit in the lounge but you can order a cocktail & take it to the outdoor seating which is very family friendly. It's so wonderful to have this place in southwest Houston (Katy). Second visit and still love this place. Of course, the name of the place threw off the interest of this seldom beer drinker. However, the over 21 Cocktail Lounge adjacent to the energetic beer hall was made for me and my style of chill. The bartenders are serious about their craft and have lots of personality. Great drinks and great vibe are very hard to beat. Food here is more than a just bar food, it's actually good. The menu will never be the main driver of coming back but it hits the spot so still come hungry. The lounge is smaller and darker lighting than the beer hall but still very spacious. The music is loud enough to enjoy but doesn't interfere with a table conversation. I'll continue to pass up many bars to get here in the future. read more

Wow! Katy certainly has something in the craft beer and cocktail scene to brag about! I used to live in the Katy area, I'm so sad this place didn't exist when I lived near by. Spacious indoor and outdoor seating, food trucks, extensive tap offerings...now let me get started about the cocktail lounge. Holy smokes! The cocktail lounge! Not only is it cute, the wall of options is stunning. Personally, I am a mazcal lover - they had all of my favorites, plus maybe 70 other mezcals to explore. Over all, they have easily over 1,200 different bottles of liquor. Their cocktail list was thoughtful as well. Great spot for just hanging out or having a party or corporate event. read more

I came to Katy Beer Garden for my friend's birthday, and I was impressed by how large and bustling it was. It has very much of a family and older crowd and is not really a place for the youth. However, my friend reserved tables in the cocktail lounge, which had a completely different ambience from the surrounding beer garden. It was cute, and the cocktails were fun. I got the Pretty is as Pretty Does, which is a sweet vodka cocktail with pineapple juice. The prices were pretty normal, with mine on the lower end being $12 + tip. It was hard to order with all the customers though, and it took a long time for the drinks to be made. Their parking lot is very small for the size of the establishment, and they have additional diagonal spots along the street that stretch for a looooong distance. We went on a Sunday and it was packed inside. It was super hot out so that's understandable. Husband ordered beer and service was fast. I went to the lounge and got a cocktail. The lounge area is Nice and dark. We had our 4 year old with us so we sat right outside the lounge. Not sure if he was allowed because it said 21 and up. Similar to other recently opened venues that serve beer on tap and feature both indoor and outdoor spaces, there is something available for all ages in your party. Though parking is free in their lot, it does quickly fill up as the evening progresses. Our friends had reserved a few tables outside, but it also turned out to be the coldest day of the year, so we ended up settling inside. We sampled sliders, hot dogs, flat breads, pizza, pretzels, nachos, and chicken lollipops, which were served in metal catering trays along a long table. All the food items that were ordered were good. We did not order anything to drink, but the servers did a great job of coming by our tables to see if we needed anything throughout the evening, and he had quite a large party. The outdoor space is pretty large, with open areas of turf for lawn games and kids to run around. There is also ample outdoor seating, with a few food trucks along the outer part of the venue. Not sure if these are left out year-round, but they had these fire pit space heater/light sources between the tables that provided a nice touch to the outdoor space, especially as the evening grew darker. Although we don't live nearby, this was a great spot to celebrate a birthday, hang out with friends, date night, etc. I definitely recommend this place if you live on this side of town. read more

Super cute spot to hang out in Katy. The surrounding area gives it an industrial steampunk vibe. Lots of parking. Very spacious indoor and outdoor area with plenty of seating. They host fun events every week too. I attended a baby shower here and it was easy to set decorations up and the area that was reserved was plenty of space for our party. Our family had a time here. I lost count how many drinks and shots we ordered but everything tasted GOOD. Initially it took forever to get our drinks but later in the night the drinks came out quicker. Maybe they had more bartenders, idk. The had 3 food trucks but we did not eat from them. The place is huge. You can make a reservation or walk in. Theres plenty of seating. The servers checked up on us a lot. Drove out to Katy Beer Garden on a beautiful sunny Saturday to par take in the Octoberfest celebration. Lots of free parking available. They have a parking lot and then there is side street parking. The have places to sit inside with air conditioning. The have places to sit outside under the shade and the also have an outside upstairs patio with fans. And YES, they have lots and lots of beers on tap. They also have food trucks when we were there. They sell a small selection of food. But the best secret is the bourbon whiskey room behind the red velvet curtains. This is like a speak easy vibe. Go have fun and make some memories. Fair prices on the alcohol. read more

finally made my way to Katy Beer Garden, and it did not disappoint. Parking was simple -- plenty of room in the main lot and more along the side streets, so no parking drama before you even walk in. The space itself is laid out really well. Inside, you've got cold A/C and comfortable seating if you want to escape the heat. Outside, there are shaded tables and an upper patio with fans that actually keep the air moving. You can pick your vibe depending on how hot it feels outside. As for the beer selection... they aren't playing. There's a huge variety on tap, something for every taste. When I visited, there were also food trucks on-site along with a small in-house menu, so grabbing a bite was easy. But the real surprise is the bourbon whiskey room hidden behind those red velvet curtains. It has that quiet, speakeasy feel -- a completely different atmosphere from the main area. Definitely worth stepping inside if you enjoy bourbon. Prices are reasonable, the energy is relaxed, and it's the kind of place you can hang out, talk, and enjoy yourself without feeling rushed. We had started the evening at Black Pearl and finished dinner early so before going home, we stopped off at probably now one of my favorite cocktail lounges on the west side of Houston and typically it was absolutely a marvelous experience. The bartender who I have gotten to know quite well, showed me and used a heavily ryed bourbon which made my old-fashioned absolutely wonderful. Knowing the weather was about to change, we sat outside, which is a wonderful experience. Enjoyed our drinks, and as always were absolutely pleased again with Katy beer Garden. This review is kinda old but I'm posting in case this bartender still works there. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was dead, which was surprising. The place is huge...lots of seating inside and outside and plenty of bar space. We ordered cocktails from the dim cocktail lounge, which had a cool speakeasy vibe. There were five of us .We approached the bar, which was being manned by 2-3 bartenders. With a grim face, one of the bartenders took our orders and started making our drinks. After about 45 seconds into her making our drinks, two non people of color approached the bar. The bartender completely stopped making our drinks to take their order, make their drinks, and collect their payment. It was so odd. The bar was empty and those two could have waited, but instead, the bartender made US wait while also making us feel like second class citizens. We took that as a hint...had our one drink and bounced. Oh yeah, I'm attaching a pic of the bartender so that management knows exactly who made us feel that way. ANOTHER REVIEW: On an another occasion, before this one, we approached one of the bartenders in the main space and requested a beer that we had the previous time we visited and loved. The bartender asked sarcastically, with a straight face, "Do you see that on the menu?". We responded with, "no, we had it last weekend so we didn't bother looking at the menu". He then told us that they change out menus frequently, so we aren't going to always have the same options. What's the reason for the bad attitudes from the bartenders? If you've ever been here you know the vibessss! This is a beautifully curated time of good times! The scenery is absolutely amazing and creates an atmosphere of fun! It is family friendly , despite the name sounding like more of a bar. Pets are also welcome ! The outdoor area is perfect when the Weather is good and there is plenty of seating for individuals and groups as well as indoors! Plenty of Televisions with Sports playing I was very pleased they offer cocktails and have a dedicated cocktail bar and lounge indoors that is 21+. They also have Mocktails if you're not looking for beer nor cocktails. I was happy to have a simple hot dog since I was not planning on dinner but it hit the spot, nice size with all the condiments on the side, perfect food after cocktails! The bar and waitstaff were all helpful and friendly and the food was pretty quick and served hot . This space made for great times, laughter and great photos! I will definitely put this on my list of go to places in Katy, especially when I have visitors. They also have a variety of food trucks that are available on the patio and a play yard for the kids and adult activities like cornhole. This is easily a great date night and also a place to take the family 10/10. Great place, and definitely a must go to for our area. Wait times are terrible and confusing all at the same time. Getting a cocktail might be one of the most nerve racking things.. we often look at one another wondering whose order they are making, did they even hear me? What are they making? I liked this spot! Super cute spot, wine is tap which isn't my favorite and my first glass had a nat in it . I then got a second one with no nat in it but then by the third another nat in it and it was poured from the tab as i sat at the bar so hopefully they can get the nats fixed with the wine that would be great! My friend order a bees knees cocktail and we waited probably 20 minutes for our cocktail which sucked because by then i had two wines with nats in them. Over all the place is cute and has good outdoor seating , parking isn't bad and bathrooms are clean. I wasn't able to try the food this time around. " it looks could kill" - thats the drink to order!! The cocktail lounge area is pretty cool. It's got a good vibe to it. The bartenders look legit from the way they work, to the way they were dressed, to just the overall ambience of the bar. And they do actually know what they are doing. The drinks were perfect. I guess I was underwhelmed because the parking lot was full so assumed it was poppin in there but it was very blah. The entryway had a beautiful sign. The patio area looked really cool. When we walked inside I really liked the decor and the theme. But it was the a customer service that took away the stars. We stayed at the beer bar for several minutes (when it wasn't very busy, There was space all around us) for a bartender to acknowledge us, and there was five bartenders back there. Then she advises that they don't sell liquor at that bar that I had to go into the cocktail lounge area to get that. So we did and we ended up just kind of staying back there because it was a really cool vibe. But once again, it was a long wait for a drink each time - you were standing at the bar for at least 10 minutes after you ordered. They were trying to make several orders at the same time instead of completing a customer, odd to me! So one time I even thought maybe he asked me what I wanted but forgot cuz he walked back to the other side of the bar to his station, and it seemed as if he forgot about my drink ...the bartender standing in front of me had already made four more drinks for the next customer behind me and then had to go check the other bartender to see if he was still making mine or not. But also most of the bartenders back there would make your drink and then proceed to clean up all their utensils before handing the drink to you, so you're just sitting there staring at your drink, thinking like you should hand the customer of the drink let them walk away then you can clean up. I don't need to watch you rinse everything off and my drink just sit here, but I didn't wanna just grab it cause I wasn't even sure it was mine because they were doing multiple people at the same time that ordered different items. It was just very strange to me. Somewhat inefficient, but it just sucks when you're the only person in your group standing at the bar waiting for a drink while they're all sitting down laughing and having a good time and you're missing out on 10 minutes of conversation. But like I said, it's a pretty cool atmosphere, I'd probably give it another try because the drinks were really good. Just the ordering process needs some refinement. I'm so glad they fixed the parking situation ! This place is so posh and fun. There is something for everyone. I love the dark speakeasy cocktail bar in the back. The courtyard is beautiful with plenty of seating. The food trucks are very neat and yummy but so is the food from the bar! We love the garlic hot dog and the German sausage. The cocktails are made very well and they have a wide selection of beer. I went up to order a drink for myself and my mother (not even 2 for me) and the bartender said that I couldn't order 2 drinks. Finally got to come out to the new Katy Beer garden after waiting weeks for the soft opening! We are more cocktail drinkers but they had plenty of beer on tap as well as a full liquor bar for all cocktails. We did hope for more unique selection of cocktails like at Woosters and Heights Biergarten though since the owners are the same. The bars are separated into different rooms- one for cocktails and one for beer on tap. The liquor bar was a much more sultry and intimate vibe. We got one mocktail (fish out of water) which was intricately made as if it were a real cocktail and tasted like one too. I ordered 2 drinks of which I forgot their names. One was tequila and jalapeños and the other was frenet, pineapple and crème de cacao. Both were amazing! Outside and inside are PLENTY of seating. We also ordered the regular sized Bavarian pretzel which came with 3 dipping sauces. It was plenty to share between 2 people. There is a main stage outdoors for concerts and performances in the future. Also 2 standing food trucks right in the parking lot. There is an upstairs patio but absolutely no furniture or tables at this time. I wonder if they'll add them in later. Would also be perfect with outdoor TVs for sporting events. There were also 6 cornhole games as well as 2 bocce ball courts but they didn't have the bocce ball set yet. Only downside is that ourselves and everyone I noticed were batting away multiple flies away from food and drinks often. The bar could use a fly/mosquito treatment for the outdoors. read more

Went here on a Saturday for a birthday. I was able to quickly get a pint of beer for my husband at the large bar inside, but when I wanted to order a mocktail, I was informed it would take too long "out here" and to go to the cocktail lounge. I paid for the pint and proceeded into the cocktail lounge. The service in the cocktail lounge was the reason for the low rating. There were 5 or 6 bartenders and each had 2 customers in front of them. The bartender on the farthest right had a huge group of 8 people so I went to the far left where the bartender had only 3 customers. He was making drinks so I patiently waited. He did acknowledge me while he was making 2 drinks and asked me what I wanted. After I told him, he nodded and continued chatting to the other customers. He made 6 more drinks and starting talking to another pair that just walked up. At this point he was just cleaning his area and washing mixers. Then as other customers came in, he held up the drink menu and said loudly "cocktails!" trying to get others to come to his side of the bar. He had not started on making my drink and was talking to 2 more people that just came over. He didn't really talk to me or say more than 2 words to me. Since I was there for 20 minutes now, I brought the full pint in front of me so maybe he could see I was waiting with someone's drink and I had been there for a while. He took the new orders and kept talking to them. At this point, it had been 30 minutes and my husband came to check on me and grab his drink and bring our kid since she was crying waiting for me. I apologized to my husband loudly hoping the bartender would get the hint that he was taking way too long. So then I was holding my kid, waiting for my drink for 8 more minutes, and then the bartender finally made the drink and said, "thanks for being patient". It was so rude that he didn't talk to me and spoke to everyone else, especially the people who came after me, even though he knew I was waiting and alone. If he talked to me like everyone else I probably wouldn't have been counting minutes. I suggest if you go here, don't order any drinks from the cocktail bar. Stick to the large beer bar and you should be good. I was able to go to the large bar a few other times and it was always quick and everyone was way more friendly. I don't recommend the cocktail lounge unless you want to spend 38 minutes waiting for a drink when there were only 3 people in front of you. read more

Long lines and beer that was just ok, I think this place has an id identity crisis and should decide if it's trying to be a chill beer garden like a brewery or a German hoffbrau house. Michael M. Was rude. Seems to lack the hospitality skills needed for this environment. I will avoid him if I come back. I've been multiple times and have always enjoyed it--until this visit. I walked up to the bar and politely asked a very normal question for a place with roughly 100 beers on tap: "What's the best sour you have?" Instead of, you know, doing his job, the bartender rolled his eyes at me and said, "I don't know dude, I've been here since ten," then rolled his eyes again and literally flung a menu at me. No suggestions. No effort. Just attitude. If asking for a recommendation at a craft beer bar is considered an inconvenience, that's a serious problem. I wasn't asking for a dissertation--just basic guidance, which is kind of the point of having knowledgeable bartenders. Two other bartenders eventually helped me and were perfectly polite, which only highlighted how unnecessary and intentional this guy's behavior was. He even circled back later after watching me order, muttering something about "if I needed help," still with the same irritated tone--as if I was the problem for daring to ask a question. If you're burned out, fine--but don't take it out on customers. Eye-rolling, dismissiveness, and tossing menus is not the vibe for an expensive beer garden that prides itself on selection. I'll be back in spite of this bartender, not because of him. Management should seriously address this, because one person with an attitude like that can ruin an otherwise solid place. read more

Happy 4th yall! I strategically looked for a place near the katy mills mall where they light fireworks and found this new beer garden! LOVE. Definitely can be a family oriented beer garden. Since this place is so new, there wasn't much of a crowd quite yet. They have food trucks along with games on a well lit outdoor sitting area. They have a little upstairs rooftop vibe that i was really digging, but unfortunately, I couldn't see the fireworks from where we were sitting. We decided to move downstairs where we got a great show! Accompanied with a huge IPA list, Katy beer Garden also has a bar strictly for alcoholic drinks. There is another side of the cool beer garden separated by a curtain that provides the ultimate bar vibe you would get in Midtown. Super dark with edgy and artsy decor. You definitely get a taste of a little of everything at this 2 week old beer garden. Service is okay. Didn't meet anyone with much of a welcoming personality, but I know sometimes people also have off days, and working on the 4th was probably not on their "what I wanted to do list." Nonetheless, playing a game or 10 of cornhole really led to an awesome and relaxing time with a couple of friends. Will be back! read more
