Very empty when I went on a Friday night. The drink glass smelled like a bar rag, the drinks were not very delicious - just ok.

I love hanging out with friends here. Patrons of this bar area are very welcoming. They have pool tables and there's always a drink special

Review Highlights - Finn MacCool's Irish Bar

The service is friendly, and they feature live music, a large indoor and outdoor space, and, most importantly, pour a great Guinness.

Close…read moreto the cinema and waterway and Woodlands Mall, I've enjoyed meeting with friends and family for brunch (really good options and well made drinks and delicious food- for this review I'll keep it to my recent experience) Went on a Friday around 8PM and it was slightly buzzing, I chose seating at the back of the bar it seemed quieter and not as busy, but that soon changed after I sat down. I needed to wake up because friend who hadn't arrived yet and I were going to see The Monkey at the cinema up the street from Mahoney's. Order an Espresso Martini, nothing notably special, it was mixed well and finished it in what seemed like 2 sips. I was a bit hungry and ordered the Texas Egg Rolls made with chicken, black beans, corn, red bell pepper, pepper jack cheese and a side dipping sauce. They come with 6, 2 bites and done size. These reminded me of the egg rolls from Chili's. They arrived warm and if flavor was fine. I'd get them again. My friend arrives but by this time the area we were in got CROWDED. It seemed there was only one bartender handling both the patrons at the bar and groups at the tables. It took about 15 minutes after my friend arrived to place a beer order. I was trying to order it for him before he arrived but didn't have any success as the bartender stayed mostly on one side of where I was sitting and didn't look up during his time filling orders. Eventually, we are able to order a second round and closed out. Aside from the service being a bit off, and likely due to unexpected being busy, my past experiences have been enjoyable, that's why I chose to come here pre-movie going. Highly recommend their brunch. I wish I lived in the area I'd do brunch here often, they have BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS Saturday & Sunday!

Pizza was fresh, delicious and reasonably priced compared to others in town. You get to pick your toppings from many selections. We've had their pizza often since we discovered them 5 years ago. 8/10/2025 Tonight we split the fried catfish dinner. Nice thin cornmeal batter, 4 pieces plus tots (substituted for fries), hush puppies and coleslaw. Plenty to split! Very light!!! Ok other than the tots. Love Jacks for their food! ! It's a smoky dive bar but the food is fantastic! We don't go in and hang, both of us being former smokers, but we love their food! I hear their green chicken enchiladas are amazing! Will report back. One note, prices are a little higher than the menus online, maybe by $5. Still very reasonable!!!

If you want to see an empty pool table, maybe play around. That's a reason to go. If you want some decent late-night food, it's not a chain. It's your only option. That's a reason to go. Again, outside of that, I highly recommend finding something better. But it is Texas, and there's jack shit for food. But this place is one of the few places left that still lets you smoke inside. So you know, different strokes for different folks.

Visited here midweek after going to a Yelp event at the nearby Regal. I'd seen this spot a few…read moretimes when dining with colleagues nearby and assured myself I'd check it out as soon as I could. I'm glad I did! When walking in it wasn't crowded but there were a fair amount of guests for a near 10 pm crowd on a Wednesday. I went and sat at the bar to which I was immediately greeted and provided menus. Food & Drink - 5* I immediately ordered some wings and fried pickles and peppers. Then I debated between the Irish Stew or the Shepherd's Pie. When I inquired, both are great but advised I should go with the Shepherd's Pie. Off to races we go. Fried pickles and peppers, delicious, the batter isn't over the top yet doesn't fall off terribly. The cilantro jalapeño sauce is a fantastic pairing. The wings -- great, nice crisp, flavor was not necessarily what I expected, I couldn't place it at the time it they were good. Now, the shepherd's pie, wow, this dish was addicting. I'd come back over and over for this while sabotaging in semblance of a balanced diet. Just makes me know that the Irish stew is likely equally fantastic. The drinks, well, I can't speak to cocktails but the Guinness was delicious, cold, with nice collar/head. Can't go wrong with that! Service - 5* Everything one would want. Friend, fast, and attentive. Water was always full and was asked if needed anything multiple times. The only thing I didn't get proactively was napkins, but when I asked, I was provided some quickly. Cost - 4.5* Overall, I think, subjectively speaking, everything here is pretty well priced. The shepherd's pie may be a tad overpriced but it's worth it in how delicious it is. Overall - 5* This was a pleasant surprise to visit and I will certainly come back. Subjectively the location is good and bad. Being next to the improv and movie theater I'm sure helps attract many patrons for these businesses. At the same time, this joint, with a loyal following, would sustain business and "feel" better as a free standing establishment in a more neighborhood type environment. Nevertheless, great place, would recommend people stop in even if they aren't visiting the stalwart attractions in the area.
