Visited here midweek after going to a Yelp event at the nearby Regal. I'd seen this spot a few times when dining with colleagues nearby and assured myself I'd check it out as soon as I could. I'm glad I did! When walking in it wasn't crowded but there were a fair amount of guests for a near 10 pm crowd on a Wednesday. I went and sat at the bar to which I was immediately greeted and provided menus. Food & Drink - 5* I immediately ordered some wings and fried pickles and peppers. Then I debated between the Irish Stew or the Shepherd's Pie. When I inquired, both are great but advised I should go with the Shepherd's Pie. Off to races we go. Fried pickles and peppers, delicious, the batter isn't over the top yet doesn't fall off terribly. The cilantro jalapeño sauce is a fantastic pairing. The wings -- great, nice crisp, flavor was not necessarily what I expected, I couldn't place it at the time it they were good. Now, the shepherd's pie, wow, this dish was addicting. I'd come back over and over for this while sabotaging in semblance of a balanced diet. Just makes me know that the Irish stew is likely equally fantastic. The drinks, well, I can't speak to cocktails but the Guinness was delicious, cold, with nice collar/head. Can't go wrong with that! Service - 5* Everything one would want. Friend, fast, and attentive. Water was always full and was asked if needed anything multiple times. The only thing I didn't get proactively was napkins, but when I asked, I was provided some quickly. Cost - 4.5* Overall, I think, subjectively speaking, everything here is pretty well priced. The shepherd's pie may be a tad overpriced but it's worth it in how delicious it is. Overall - 5* This was a pleasant surprise to visit and I will certainly come back. Subjectively the location is good and bad. Being next to the improv and movie theater I'm sure helps attract many patrons for these businesses. At the same time, this joint, with a loyal following, would sustain business and "feel" better as a free standing establishment in a more neighborhood type environment. Nevertheless, great place, would recommend people stop in even if they aren't visiting the stalwart attractions in the area.
Tip: If you have tickets to the movies or improv in the complex, they will give you 10% off your bill before or after the show. Food: Onion rings (4.5/5) - really good. The batter is hard to describe. It's like a soft tender crust that doesn't crumble if that makes sense! Im not a big fan of onion rings in general but these are really good. Chicken wings, honey siracha flavor (3/5) - the sauce was tasty with subtle spiciness, however the chicken meat itself didn't have any seasoning & relies on the sauce to carry all the flavor. Also, they were cooked hard (actually overcooked) especially the smaller flat pieces. They asked a couple times if everything is ok. Perhaps I should have asked for a new batch that wasn't overcooked. BYO Guiness burger (3.5/5) - definitely have a made at home burger feel. I could have used a little seasoning (salt) on the burger, but it was ok. Service was really good (5/5). Multiple servers checked on us. All were very attentive. Atmosphere (4/5) - liked the sports bar vibe with all the TVs and the upbeat background music. They also have outside patio seating in the front that looked pretty cool with a large tv. Overall rating is a 3.5. I'm gonna round down to 3 because the food left me wanting better. I would try them again if I was headed to the Improv to see if it was just an off night or maybe just drinks.
Great spot for drinks before or after the cinema or Improv. They offer discounts if you're visiting a neighboring venue. Service is friendly and the atmosphere gives a "pubby" vibe. Drop in and give them a try.
Dropped in with a group of five prior to a comedy show to grab a couple of drinks. However, we ordered food was pleasantly surprised that we enjoyed it so much. The chicken wings were excellent and well soak in the sauce of your choice for a delicious mess. Equally impressive were the onion rings, piled high and crispy. They have an extensive drink menu featuring a long list of high end spirits. My choice was a spicy mezcal margarita and the bartender nailed it perfectly. The pub isn't very large but has several high top tables that easily accommodate larger groups. The staff were very friendly and the server did a great job of getting all our orders to us at the same time. Hugh O'connors is a great place for drinks and delicious bar food.
Came here after a movie because my sister said the Fish & Chips were pretty good. She was half right--the fish was solid, crispy, and well-cooked, but the chips? Unfortunately, they were stale and just didn't hit the spot. We also tried the fried pickles, and while I appreciated the crunch, they were way too salty. Definitely needed something to balance out all that salt. Service was quick, but to be fair, the place was pretty empty. The atmosphere, though, was a vibe--chill, laid-back, and perfect for grabbing drinks or just hanging out. Would I come back for the food? Probably not. But if I'm in the area and need a cool spot to kick back, I might give it another shot.
Service here was impeccable. Very attentive but not over-whelming. Will definitely come back on a game day

There is a vast variety of beers on tap, and the bar is fully stocked with everything you need to have a good time Some tips: If you go see a movie at the Regal Cinema (just steps away), bring your ticket stub and show it to the bartender, as you will receive 10% off your order Sláinte!
This is a great place to hang out with a group or even take a date. It has games, good vibes, and a good selection of food and drinks. The parking lot tends to fill up on weekends because it's a popular plaza, but the lot is so big you'll definitely find a spot even when it's busy. Plus, there's other things to do in the plaza like go to the movies, other restaurants, Dave & buster's, and much more. I recommend the Cosmopolitan and the Irish Car Bomb (ICB). They're both delicious and super easy to drink. The ICB is a shot of Jameson mixed with baileys that you drop into a cup of Guinness and chug. If you let it sit, the cream starts to curdle. Not pretty, but still delicious. It's also just more fun to chug it with friends like you would chug a sake bomb. If the Jameson or Guinness don't sound appealing, I don't care for either on their own, but the baileys makes this a sweet and super easy drink to drink, tasting kind of like a milkshake. I highly recommend it!
I came in after the Sloomoo Yelp experience. It's definitely an authentic and traditional bar with moderately priced food and drinks. I would recommend stopping by if you are in the area. I tasted their queso, and it was pretty good but came out kind of cold. Overall taste was great. The vibe was chill and easygoing. Great after a long day at work. Service was very nice and helpful. Would be back when I'm in the area again.
I am 0/2 with pix this week! Sorry. I got ambient pix but was too hungry to realize I forgot food pix (smh) Anyways.... Food was Great! Southwest Salad was shareable between the two if us and was flavorful and well presented. I got the Irish Potato (basically like potato skins!). They were good! They are NOT potato skins though, they are slices of potato with peeling on, and then topped with cheese and bacon bits and served with a side of pico and sour cream. I would definitely eat here again! Didn't try any drinks, but wish I had. There is outdoor seating with large umbrellas but it was raining. There's tons of large booths for party of 4. Long bar tables for large groups, bar seating with sports tv screens.
Home of the Liverpool Supporter's Club, this Irish pub pours a perfect pint of Guinness and the atmosphere is electric on match days. Service here is great too, it's impressive how the staff function when it's standing room only on some of the more exciting matches, and their food is also great. I had their fish and chips recently and it was delicious. The fries were perfectly cooked and well seasoned, and the fish was flakey and tender. I can't recommend this place enough, and if you're looking for an exciting pub to watch premier league, this is the one for you!
Quiet afternoon before a movie around 4pm in the afternoon. We order ice teas that were refilled only once. We ordered the Chicken Quesadillas - grilled chicken with melted mozzarella, pico de gallo, sour cream & house picante sauce which was average. We also ordered the Irish Nachos - sliced deep-fried potatoes covered with crispy bacon, melted cheddar cheese & jalapeños served with a side of sour cream & pico de gallo. But I honestly missed the crunch of tortilla chips vs the soft potato skins. The Fish & Chips were pretty good. Crispy and hot. Overall an ok experience. Perhaps it's better on a weekend night closer towards dinner time.

Grabbed dinner at Hugh O'Connors before heading to a comedy show at Improv. Hands down the best stew I've ever had. Every piece of beef was tender. The flavor was amazing. Truly a dish I'll remember forever. Highly recommend. My husband had the fish and chips. Forgot to get a picture of his. For dessert we had the bread pudding. It was delicious. Looking forward to going back. They got busy, but the staff were great. read more

One of my goto futbol pubs since I live in the area. So many memories here from watching the World Cup finals with a packed house to catching Champions League on a random afternoon, to the weekend Liverpool watch parties... Always a good crowd for match days. They've got a solid beer selection on tap and a great whiskey list too.. Great location in the MarQ, you can start or end the night here after catching a movie or dinner nearby. Classic pub food on the menu like Shepherd's pie, Burgers, or Fish n'Chips (one of my favorites here). Appetizers like wings and fried pickles are solid too. Service has always been fairly consistent. Bathroom is small, so keep that in mind. It's not a huge place and the booths and tables fill up fast when it's busy. (They do have a small outdoor patio which helps.) St. Patty's day can be pretty fun here too (check the calendar for events) They also have happy hour and daily specials, definitely worth checking out! read more

Love this location, great for the comedy club or even a movie. They do comedy club happy hour. Steak night is the best as well, definitely it's own unique experience and flavor. Great bar if you are a Denver Broncos Fan, great meet up with any teams welcome. Definitely the place to be! Food is gonna be too notch, always get something new and it never disappoints me. Fish and Chips are a crowd pleaser and hummus is great choice for those healthy eaters. read more

I've come here a few times for their half off fish and chips on Wednesday's because it's such a great deal. Their normal price is ridiculous in my opinion. But for half price, I can get dessert or a beer and it'll be the same price as a normal day. The fish is always hot and flakey, the bread pudding is rich and just the right amount of sweetness, and they have a big beer selection. The service isn't the best in my opinion, after getting your food you're kind of forgotten about. Overall great place and yummy food! read more

I don't mean to sound like a fawner But it is a truly great honour To review the grub At this Liverpool Pub My favourite of all, named O'Connors I've been here more times than I'll count Usually right after Barbie dismounts The Reds tend to win When we're watching within (BTW, Barbie & I don't give happy hour discounts) Patrons always say "Hello!" like Lionel And if it's too loud, they offer me Tylenol And when Liverpool score I become a hug-whore Especially in a Champions League Final Sometimes it gets way too loud to talk And it's so packed that Barbie can't walk Specially not in her heels Drinking Stella, eating meals Rustled up by lads from County Cork. My favourite Liverpool Football Pub in the country and the one where I've had a lot of great memories, more so than any other. Run by wonderful folks from County Cork in the South of Ireland, and if you think there's a better Irish pub in Texas, put a cork in it and come and try this one. This pub has all the Connor-tations of being a great Liverpool pub. This particular location is new and much more spacious and roomy than the old location in Rice Village, known as the Gorgeous Gael. There's another new location of HOC in Energy Corridor which I haven't tried yet. It's not located on a street Connor, but it's still named Connor's. It's at the Marq-E, and it's the Marquee LFC pub in the country in my opinion. I miss the old spot because it was right next to our house and so easy to access, but this one is excellent and has tons of TVs and the service is second to none - and probably the best I've had at any Liverpool Pub in North America, and I've been to dozens. If you go for ice cream after, I have one question: Connor cup? Food is good and drinks are great, especially the Stella Artois which Barbie keeps getting drunk on (and then very frisky) (even more than usual) and Liverpool have a habit of winning their games whenever I am here. For example this is where we watched the legendary 4-0 comeback win over Barcelona that was almost kinda sorta with a reserve team line-up, and this is also where I watched the much less stressful Champions League final where Liverpool won their sixth title against some North London team that I forgot due to their lack of relevance. (That's so Spursy) I come here for any Liverpool game which I can although I definitely don't watch all of them here. They even have the ones that aren't on TV. They even have the ones that start at 6 in the morning. You can't get any better than that. They also have a lot of good looking people coming in here so that helps totally distract us from bad results. The owners are from Cork in Ireland so they know how to run a pub and they do so very well. Good food and they offer plenty of Connor-diments. Easily one of the best Liverpool pubs in the country, rivaling the very top ones in Toronto and New York City. It doesn't always get as busy as those but the atmosphere is great and the service is second to none. Plus, who wants to be freezing in Toronto in New York when you can be warm down here in Houston. Not owned by Connor McGregor, or Conor Wickham, or Connor McLeod of the Clan McLeod. But totally owned by John Connor and Sarah Connor, which means Linda Hamilton can finally compare her biceps to Barbie's and settle the argument. Dropped in here for a split second to see what it was all about. Everyone was definitely tuned in to The Astros game showcasing a lot of Houston pride. They had great service but I didn't get a chance to order anything because the kitchen had closed so I watched the game for a little while before leaving to get some food. The Wings were well battered and tasted amazing The Grilled chicken with Mac and cheese tasted fresh grilled chicken a little dry the Mac cheese was tasteful price a little then expected but overall good experience good service tasteful food maybe not a must go spot but if your out on the town catching a movie at the Marquee stop in. read more

We've been coming to this Irish bar for quite a while. Their food is so good. We had the deviled eggs (so good with pickled onions on them) and fried pickles and peppers. And our server, Amelia, was so attentive and so gracious. The food is always delicious. Rick had the Shepherds pie tonight and we finished it off with a chocolate cake with ice cream. You'll see there's not much left of the pickles and peppers because it was so good. Steak night is on Thursday nights and the Jamison is five dollars. Definitely worth visiting. read more

To save you some reading... yes. Come here. This bar is a GEM. Excellent service. The owner was here and he was super nice and welcoming. I was the only one here on a Monday during the Euro Cup and it was still a great experience due to the amount of TV's, sound on and the conversations I had with the owner and my cold Dos XX. I was pleasantly surprised at how juicy and crispy the fried pickles and peppers were. So fresh and crunchy. Jalapeño ranch is mouth watering. The Shepherds Pie was flavorful and felt authentic. (I've never been to Ireland, England, etc) I happen to be a myth buster and the myth is, they serve the coldest beer... I put it to the test and YES. YES! Frozen mug, cold beer on such a hot day. Squeaky clean restaurant and restroom! Decent prices and even better during happy hour. $5 Jameson! Large selection of Irish whiskey and scotch. What are you waiting for? I happened upon this Irish I pub after Van Gogh exp experience the centre is chuffed with casual dining. My friends wanted fish and chips and this looked an apt spot to get an order and I could get a pint . There were 6 of us they took good care of us several carafes of mimosas appetizers, fish and chips. On the patio . A little taste of home admits cookie cutter eateries read more
