Nut allergy friendly: It was mentioned that nuts aren't really used in their brunch, so that's great. Time-to-Order: 40 Minutes Parking: A small lot that you enter from the Yale Street side. It's bigger than it looks because it loops around the building but there still isn't that much parking, maybe 20-30 spots total. Arrived around 11:40AM on a Saturday morning and found parking easily. You seat yourself and waiters will come find you. This happened relatively quickly for us as we sat outside. There is a patio and indoor seating options. Definitely gives off neighborhood bar vibes, very iconic of a Heights bar. Getting our meals took quite a while - Definitely a spot to take your time, potentially enjoy the weather if it's not too swelteringly hot, and order a cocktail or two. I ordered the Spicy Shakshuka (4/5), which came with four pieces of pita. I requested some more pita and got four extra pieces (5/5 service). The dish itself was good, with the right amount of heat and actually quite filling with a surprisingly good fresh pita bread that was just crispy enough on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I think it's a bit pricey for the size. Downside: The complimentary water doesn't come out cold, which is unfortunate on a hot Houston day. Very cute place! I've been here a handful of times and have had a great time each time. The staff are very sweet! There's indoor and outdoor seating, but if you're looking to sit inside definitely get there early because it fills up fast! My friends and I sat outside last night, and they had heaters on since it was quite chilly. As for what we ordered, I got their boozy hot chocolate (minus the booze because I was DD). I would not get it again. It was watery, and for the price I was expecting a bigger glass... I did however LOVE their fries with Parmesan cheese fondue. It was so delicious. Lastly, I had ordered a dirty Bombay gin martini for my friend's birthday, and while we didn't receive that (the bartender asked me multiple questions about said martini and then when repeating my order back to me said something about "a salty cat", I assumed he was making up a fun name for the martini so I didn't think anything of it. This place is fire. We first rode our bikes over here for a Sunday brunch and sat on the patio. The patio is large and extends around the building. I believe most or all of it is covered. There's a small parking lot and some street parking, so biking, walking, car sharing is probably your best bet. But trust and believe we've been back several times after the first and was able to find parking. The food was good, but I'm here to write about the booze. They have a great happy hour throughout the week, outside of that the drink prices are about average for the city. Meaning double digits. But let me tell you, if you're an Irish Coffee lover this is theeee place to be. And it's not an Irish house. The whipped top is thick and adds the right amount of sweetness to the bitter coffee. Oh it's beautiful. It's boozy enough that after one you're feeling the vibe. I'm sad to say that I can't recall what the other drink pictured was called. It was the hubs, but I tasted it and it was nicely balanced. When and if I get past their Irish gem, I really want to try their unique Martinis and gins I can't forget the service. Stopped by Better Luck Tomorrow to try their new summer Tuesday special, which included wagyu birria tacos. We arrived during happy hour and the place was packed at 3pm. The inside was full so we sat on the patio outside. It was in the mid 90s but it wasn't terribly hot. The tacos were served hot and had a lot of flavor. The consommè was thick. I've had more flavorful, but it did the trick. They also have a take on an Italian Beef sandwich, which is something that is standard fare for Chicago. Their version, which will not be pictured, has chili crunch added, which I was told is on the spicier side. Overall, good additions to the BLT menu. read more

This is a cute little bar that has optional outside seating on the corner of a busy street. It was raining when we arrived so we sat inside for drinks. You must order your drinks at the bar, even if you're sitting at a table and they bring it to you. A waiter was a guy with a big fro. He was very attentive and quick with getting us our drink. I love this place. Seriously. It was my favorite spot on this recent trip to Houston. And I ate and drank at some great places, however Better Luck Tomorrow is the only place I went to twice in the short 4 day timeframe. So that says a lot. Once during daylight hours, and second trip a bit more late night. Both times were excellent. We only did a snack each time and I would have liked to eat more there but it just worked out that way. Both dishes we had were superb- oysters and crab cake. Yum!!! But the shining star of this spot, besides the chill ambiance and coolness without trying too hard, are the perfect cocktails. I imbibe often and regularly, I know my cocktails. These were so well balanced and delicious. If I lived in Houston I would for sure be a regular here. Friendly staff, efficient service, good price points for the quality, great drinks and food-- 5 stars easily. It's a cute little vibe. Stopped in with my friends to chat and grab a drink and snack before going out for the night. It's a cute spot the outdoor patio is nice and they allow dogs. Parking kind of sucks we had to park across the street at Common Bond but it was fine. Both of my friends enjoyed their drinks and I had a melon one that was really sweet and refreshing. One of my friends ordered their chicken sandwich and he said it was a bit too greasy but we shared a plate of fries and those were good. Sitting outside was really nice. We enjoyed the atmosphere and enjoying the one time in Houston it was nice outside. My husband got the salmon and it was perfect, my daughter got a grilled cheese and it was ok, but I got the chicken and the rice was so lemony that it was hard to eat. They kept having different staff members come by, but it would be random people and they wouldn't stay more than a few seconds so when my sister wanted to ask if they have any non alcohol drinks there was no one to ask. So we all ended up drinking water with our meal. I don't know what happened to this place but the food has become almost inedible. I still love the ambiance and would still meet here for drinks but will never get their food again. Whoever is working in the kitchen loves their salt shaker because everything is super super salty. My only issue was with the bartender. He had me waiting a while at the bar to order. He was socializing with a guest first, who seemed like a friend, and then came to me. I will say he was fine when he served me. But it was a long wait, with no other customers before he got to me. My coworkers and I decided to come here for happy hour after work, and their drinks were a perfect end to a hard day. It's a small and cozy modern bar located in the Heights known for their comfort food and their variety of drinks. Inside the place was a lot smaller than I expected, so it felt a little cramped, but they had a lot of outdoor seating which is perfect for when the weather is beautiful and breezy! It is also a bit too dark inside the place, but I think it added an intimate and cozy vibe! The service was good! It's not something to write home about, but the waitresses were super quick with getting our drinks and were quick to take our orders as well. We got a variety of cocktails and margaritas. I ordered the Hurricane which had rum, passion fruit, and lemon. It was delicious, beautiful and sweet! The cocktail itself was very aesthetically pleasing and looked like a tropical sunset which I love, and it was huge too! The rum was a bit too strong but the sweetness helped cut the bitterness of the alcohol which was yummy. Overall, I think this place was a solid 4.2/5! Fantastic visit to BLT! A friend and I made the interesting decision to come on one of Houston's hottest days this summer for happy hour. I arrived around 4:30PM and there were still several parking spots available in their small lot. When I entered the restaurant, I was a little surprised at how small it is. Because it was such a hot day, I opted to sit outside with the fans and for the breeze instead of inside where it was already decently full. The server who helped us was so kind, efficient, and helpful; she even tried to help me find the best spot to stay cool and recommended the Spiced Girl happy hour drink (it was delicious and not too spicy). I decided to have the green goddess salad and added shrimp - do it! It was so good. Of course, this was after I thoroughly enjoyed some french fries with ranch because happy hour... We had a great visit, great food and drink and excellent service. Definitely recommend, but maybe don't go on one of Houston's hottest days. read more

I really enjoyed eating here! I got the pancakes, which have bananas, some sort of brown sugar crumble on top, and a lemon ricotta filling in between the layers. I will say that it was SUPER rich and therefore I couldn't eat the whole thing, but I just can't handle sweets like that. I did eat the leftovers cold and it was still fire. I also got a side of hash browns, and they're spread out really thinly when cooled so they get pretty crispy. I will say they did taste a little over salted, and I thought maybe that was just a personal preference, but a friend that I went with said that hers were over salted as well. I'm glad I got something sweet with it because they balanced each other out. Another friend that I went with god the fried chicken sandwich, which was literally oozing butter when it first came out. Yum! The only drawback that she mentioned was that the piece of chicken was pretty spherical, which made the sandwich super tall and just difficult to each in general. But it tasted good! Service was good, you go up and order at the bar and it's quick and easy. The only annoying thing is that they don't (as far as I could tell) have a water refill station, so you'd need to go up to the bar to ask for more water if you finish yours. It was pretty hot inside and they didn't have fans or AC (or if they do have AC idk if it was on) and it was over 95° outside so by the time we left, my legs were stuck to the seat from sweating. This is my first time ever leaving a review on any restaurant/bar and unfortunately it happens to be one of my favorite cocktail bars in the city. This past Friday night, my sister, friend and I came into BLT for a few drinks and bites. We sat at a table inside, had a round of martinis, made by bartender Jeremy (bald white guy) upon yelling that our martinis were ready, he also made a snide comment about us not getting up in time, though maybe 10 seconds had passed since he called for our drink order. Once we finished our first round my friend and I split one more martini and my sister got a beer, we also ordered 4 dishes, which we ate. After eating we wanted a nightcap at the bar. Three barstools finally became available as the place was beginning to clear out some, so we got up from our table and sat at the bar, I informed Jeremy of this and the fact that we wanted a nightcap. We ordered a round of carajillos, they were delicious and I let Jeremy know that, to which he did not respond. My sister wanted to try one of their specialty shots, so the other bartender made us his favorite one, it was delicious and we closed out. Upon closing our tab my sister mentioned wanting another drink, to which Jeremy very rudely told her, " you have had enough for the night, I think it's time you wrap it up, we need to make sure you get home safe". We were all flabbergasted, as we were not exhibiting any behavior that was anywhere close to being drunk. We were having a great night out, we had just spent nearly 150 on food, and we were very polite to everyone around us. We couldn't believe he was literally kicking us out. I have never in my life been asked to leave a place I have paid to be at while exhibiting nothing but appropriate behavior. I have personally also been served many more drinks at BLT, compared to what I consumed that evening and was never asked to leave. It just didn't make sense. You could tell he was annoyed by something and quite honestly his behavior the entire night seemed very manic. I did not observe him have a positive interaction with anyone while we were sitting at the bar. BLT is easily one of the best spots in town and I will be back as I have had nothing but good experiences with everyone else that works there. I just hope their management team sees this and speaks with him on his behavior. I would hate to see BLT lose any customers based on his horrible bedside manner. read more

Went to this restaurant for a late lunch after arriving in Houston for the Cowboy Carter tour. Atmosphere was like stepping into your favorite local hangout and the service was great. Better Luck Tomorrow is the perfect neighborhood bar. Creative cocktails, banging "bar" food, and a happy hour or daily special almost every day of the week. I personally always sit at the bar here if my favorite bartender, Lorenzo, is working. His seasonal cocktails have been my favorite here like his ube cocktail, or currently his "Upon a Star" featuring oolong tea infused gin, mango, lemon, falernum, and sesame orgeat. He really utilizes a lot of Asian based flavors into his cocktails that just work. 10/10 would recommend just asking him to be creative and make a custom drink for you. As far as the food goes, this isn't your typical "bar" food. Justin Yu really elevates what bar food should be, comforting and well made. Coming here on pasta night tuesdays or steak night wednesdays is a must. They always rotate the specials so just come hungry and you're guaranteed to have a great time. Overall Better Luck Tomorrow just has the perfect Heights bar vibes. Eclectic looking, has a dog friendly patio, generally chill on the weekdays, and lively on the weekends. The ambiance is fine, the service was just okay, but the food was really disappointing. I got a cheeseburger. I wanted to try the patty melt that's here on the page, but that's not on the menu. So I got the cheeseburger and it was super-dry and way over-salted. My wife got a chicken paillard. It was super salty and way over-lemony. She couldn't eat the couscous and barely ate the meat. I hate giving bad reviews - restaurants are hard and I'm rooting for them - but this just wasn't great. It wasn't even good. A Whopper Junior with cheese was about the same size, although a third the price, and would've been significantly tastier. I doubt I'll be trying my luck again tomorrow or any other day. read more
