It was darn hot in July but, love the vibe & character of the place. Nice band, not too loud to enjoy company we were with.

Very cute place to come have some drinks with your friends. There are plenty of seating options to choose from and the place itself is decorated nicely with all the lights and greenery. The music isn't too loud thankfully so you don't have to scream to have a normal conversation. The drink menu is quite extensive and there's something for everyone as they divide the menu into different flavor profiles. I tried the heart center and it was a refreshing, tart, and citrusy drink that was easy to sip on. The bartenders make your drinks pretty quickly so you don't have to wait too long in line. Parking is a bit tricky though so I had to park a block away. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere of this place a lot, so I would love to come back another time.

Very lively cocktail bar!! Bier Garten is a very spacious patio set up with plenty of seating. Parking is moderately limited, be prepared to park a little further away if you have to. The place is located in a very robust area of town which calls for generally a good set of crowd on weekends. The ambient music can be a little bit loud at times but definitely not as loud as inside clubs. You'll still be able to hear yourself and converse with your friends at the table. We had a Aperol, no complaints here. There's also quite a few fans place around the patio area for a good breeze in the middle of a summer night. Its well appreciated.

This place is cute and unique outdoor sports bar/lounge feel. It's a large space with most of it being outdoors. The outside area is in the middle of two bars and lounge areas. One side is beer and wine with a wrap around bar to enjoy drinks, food and the games. The other side, equally as big but serves craft cocktails and feels a little more lounge like. The space is great for big groups of people and I did see reserved signs so it appears you can sit anywhere unless you reserve a table. The drinks were great and is a good place to hang out if you want a proper made cocktail. I love that they have the drinks broken down into categories so you know whether you're going to get sweet vs boozy, etc. The food was the highlight of the show. We came for brunch and had a veggie quinoa bowl, bruschetta and falafel. They were all stand outs The veggie quinoa bowl was just the right amount of food, it was flavorful and fresh. I dont really care for Falafel but I added a few pieces on my bowl and it gave the perfect crunch. The falafel was a little on the dry side as typical and one of the reasons I don't like them but it paired well in the bowl. The bruschetta was in stiff competition with the bowl. It had the right amount of acid from the tomatoes and vinegar and the bread was well seasoned. It the best one I've had to date. That entire meal for two was extremely filling. This is an order at the bar and they bring it out to you so there's no waiters which was nice when you just want to relax and chat with your company without being interrupted.

Came here for a happy hour with some friends and ended up grabbing this cheeseburger that was seriously tasty! 10/10 will come back for the burger plus the beer lol!

Came for a sorority event and it was pretty crowded with lots of seating but mostly outdoors. There are a few seats inside so grab them when you see them. The atmosphere is cute and casual and they have extensive menu of beers, wines and different drinks. They allow dogs which is so cute. Wish I brought mine. I ordered the Cheeseburger - sesame bun, sharp cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomoatos, pickle and I ordered without the sautéed onions. It was good. Definitely a great place to go if you don't mind being outside and in Houston ... it's hot.

Great drinks and very good atmosphere. I like the outdoor and indoor seating selection and that they have beer and cocktails too. We came to catch up with a friend and this place did the trick! They have tons of different drinks so they will have something for everyone.

Empty patio - only asked for one TV in the empty back area to be changed.

Been here on several occasions, and always had a good time. Cocktails are great, bartenders are helpful and friendly, and the selection is solid and varied. However we came on a Saturday and wanted to watch the US Open Championship. Asked a couple times but the response from the manager was "college football is on, we can't put on tennis". Like, bruh, nobody cares about South Florida vs Florida. We sat in the back area that was completely empty and requested to change one of their many TVs to ESPN and the manager refused. This makes no sense for a venue that has 30+ televisions. I do not plan to return after this experience.

Came by with some family for a late lunch and some drinks. They have a stunning outside patio area with lots of different seating arrangements , tvs, and some swings so small and large parties would have an easy time finding a place to sit. They do have some inside seating too. The bartenders provided great service and do let you sanple brews before you commit. I am not the biggest fan of beer so it was nice to see other options available. Their spiked rootbeer was great, highly recommend if you like rootbeer but are looking for a little kick. The tots were delicious and the chicken bahn mi while a great sandwich did not really hit all the flavors of a bahn mi but was still enjoyable.

Found this place by chance. We were on a day date with another couple and on our way home we drove by and took a detour here. It was such a beautiful outdoor setting with fire pits and a variety of food and beverages. I ordered a cranberry cider and it was tart and delicious. We didn't order food, but the smell of onion rings left us salivating. We are planning another trip here soon!

Very cute outdoor beer garden! Tons of outdoor seating ~60 people's worth. There are also swings located in the back. Service was fast. I did not order food, but I believe this is an option before the kitchen closes. Very cute place at the center of Houston heights area. There is only Valet parking for the immediate parking lot.

Ambiance: Extremely nice & open Bier Garten with multiple outdoor seating options including picnic tables, swing table sets, bistro chairs, & more. Industrial and trendy indoor bar areas overlooking the main outdoor space (one for cocktails, one for beer/wine.) This is a perfect location for bringing your dog and enjoying a nice day or for a birthday/large gathering with family + friends. Several Instagram-y areas and the cocktails are *chefs kiss* Multiple TVs in all areas for watching a big game - however, the outdoor lighting seems to impact the ability to view the screens substantially and it is difficult to hear any sound. Parking onsite - although definitely note that parking can fill up quickly and sometimes they only offer valet. Extremely expansive cocktail/beer/wine menu. IMO the food menu is a bit limiting and expensive, however I've always enjoyed what I've ordered. Bathrooms are always clean and each stall is fully enclosed. While there is indoor seating, majority of the space is outdoors - making your experience here largely dependent on the weather. They do have fire pits placed around for cooler nights and misters in the covered areas for when it's hot out. One of the more expansive & nicely decorated bier gartens around town, I do recommend this spot! I also really enjoy the fact they offer such a large cocktail menu.

We love this place! The bartenders are so nice and helpful when it comes to picking one of their 65 cocktails! All of their cocktails are delicious and so pretty! They have a great patio and 2 indoor areas. Plus a wonderful happy hour!

Ask the Community - Heights Bier Garten

Are there non-water/soda non-alcoholic drinks such as mocktails and n/a beer?

There are a few non-alcoholic beers available like Lagunitas IPA and Hoppy Refresher. I don't believe any mocktails are advertised on the menu, but you could always just request one from the bartender and they'd probably accommodate.

    Is this place smoke free?

No, but people rarely smoke there in my experience

Is there a menu for non-alcoholic drinks?

    Yes, they have sodas.

Planning to go on Saturday night, is this place 18+ or 21+?

They only ID at the bar when you're ordering drinks therefore I believe it's 18+ to just get in. It's a pretty open and laidback place. I think it would be difficult to card every single person that walks in because there's 3 or more entrances.

Can you get in at night if you're not over 21?

Yes you can! They only ID you if your trying to get drinks from the bar, but other than that it's pretty open to anyone. Very chill and laid back place and they also have movie nights on Tuesdays!

    Is it kid friendly?

Kid friendly up until sunset when it gets dark and as long as they don't go running around without supervision.

    Is there wifi?

Yes! They do have WiFi. No password- I think the name was HBG Guest or something similar. When we were there, it wasn't very crowded and the speed was pretty good.

    Is it kid friendly?

I've never seen any children. King's Bierhaus is more kid friendly.

Is I️t 21 and up only?

    Nope. All are welcome!

Good place to watch football? Does it have a lot of TVs?

They've got several inside and a few outside. Probably good for a hometown game but don't go looking for all the NFL games on at once. Better off at McIntyres if you're looking in that area with nice outside seating. But their French fries are… Read more

Food available when you open at 3?

Yes, and I recommend ordering the cauliflower!

    Is it dog friendly?

    Yes

    What time is happy hour?

When my friend made the reservation, she received an email encouraging customers to visit the tasting room before or after dinner. We showed up an hour early to visit the tasting room, however the host had no idea what we were talking about. Turns out they weren't doing tastings. Luckily, we didn't have to wait to be seated. We initially had a table that was not near a heat lamp, however an employee came over and let us know that we could switch to a table near the heat lamp which was appreciated because it was chilly. Our server was Laura. She was nice and funny. They had $25 flight specials. I went with the Sayanara Flight which had white wines. I really enjoyed them and they weren't too sweet. My friend had an NA wine which she enjoyed. We ordered the Truffle Fries and Meatballs. Both dishes were tasty. I enjoyed the aioli that came with the fries. They had discounted wines for purchase. Not all bottles were 50% off, however the gentleman that we spoke to went ahead and gave me a 50% discount on both the rosé and pinot grigio that I purchased which was so appreciated! It seems like there are quite a few businesses around town that are closing. I'm sad to see Mutiny go, but I'm glad my friend and I got to dine in on their final night.

"Closing time, you don't have to go home But you can't stay…read morehere." - Semisonic I have lived in the loop for 5 years now, and I'm sad to say that I finally tried Mutiny on their last day. I often pass by it going through a shortcut to I-45 and sometimes going home around the area. It's literally a 5-minute drive. I booked reservations Friday since I saw they opened up the 31st on Resy. It wasn't earlier in the week, but I knew it was the last day, and my friend and I really wanted to try. I'm glad we made reservations because they were at capacity (150 person capacity) and weren't taking any walk ins. We got there early cause Resy suggested checking out the Tasting Room before or after the reservation time. We got there about an hour earlier, and the host said he didn't know anything about that except that the Tasting Room area was used for events. Interesting. We were seated earlier on the patio on this freezing evening. At first, we were at a table that didn't have a heat lamp, but when one freed up, they were so nice to suggest that we move closer to the heat lamp since they saw us shivering. Lol. We were thankful for that. I wore fleece lined jeans and brought gloves and a beanie anyway having been in the below freezing winter in London. Laura was our server and was kind and funny. So was this other guy who checked in every now and then. He made light of their last day situation. The dining area is so beautiful inside. I love the limestone-looking interior and chandeliers. Reminds me of Fredericksburg or something. They had many large groups and a few small groups of friends or couples dining on this last day. Way to go out with a bang. A lot of the wines were selling out or already sold out around 7-8 pm. We tried the truffle fries and Sicilian meatballs with focaccia bread. I like the thick cut of the fries and the black garlic aioli. It reminded me of yuca fries. The Sicilian meatballs were a bit small, peppery and salty. I wish the marinara was a little more tart. The focaccia helped cut through the saltiness. I had 2 glasses of the NA Sauvignon blanc which was light and a little tart. They ran out of the NA red blend. My friend ordered Sayonara, one of their farewell flights which were aptly named for "goodbye". It was a great night on the patio but chilly. My friend purchased a rosé and a Pinot Grigio as part of their Last Sail wines. Actually, the Pinot Grigio wasn't part of the sale, and he was going to take off 20%, but he also made it 50% off. So nice!! I'm glad we got to try them on their last day. Bon voyage, Mutiny.

The bread was very buttery and nicely toasted. The frank itself was very juicy and I loved how the pico and mustard help cut through the fat. The thing that made this hotdog stand out was the cheese sauce. The cheese sauce was delicious and I could probably have just eaten that alone. Our group had a couple of tables reserved and they had no problem having everyone pay on separate tabs. Service is offered both at the table and bar. Our waiter was attentive and had great recommendations for wine. When I was conflicted between two whites, he graciously brought me out both to taste and decide. I went with the Cacciabruco Malvasia/Trebbiano, which is a skin-contact white wine, so it had more of a reddish hue to it and almost looked like a rose in the dim lighting of the restaurant. I really liked this, as it was on the drier side and satisfied my palate more than the Gewürztraminer that I had also sampled. I didn't try the food but others in our party really liked the flatbreads they ordered. I do want to try these out next time because I know they will pair great with the wine! The fig, prosciutto and other toppings complimented each other well. The flatbread dough itself was ok but could've benefited from a little more flavor such as some garlic, butter and herbs. I also would've liked it a bit thinner so I could taste less of the bread and more of those delicious toppings. Don't get me wrong it was good and I ate all of it but these are small suggestions I'd recommend to bring it to perfection. I could see parking and seating being tricky. I liked that there was a NA option for that, and you can choose either red or white. We ordered a pitcher since we were sharing. It was delicious and refreshing. I think I had about 3 wine glasses of it. Our group shared the red fish à la plancha, patatas bravas, spinach frittata, olive oil pancakes and bacon-wrapped dates. Some of the dishes were bigger than others. Tapas is meant to be small plates, and they were, but it's a little overpriced. For example, the red fish was $15.50 for maybe 2 oz of fish. The stack of olive oil pancakes were small and thin for $8.50. If you're sharing, it's not that much food. I was going to order another personal stack of olive oil pancakes because that cinnamon butter was so good! I decided not to after I let all of what we ordered and drank settle for a bit after. The valdeon whipped blue cheese under the bacon-wrapped dates didn't taste very good and seemed grainy to me. It was my least favorite. The standouts for me were the olive oil pancakes, spinach frittata that was actually loaded with more veggies and bell peppers and the patatas bravas which was piled with potatoes topped with mayo that melted down and looked almost like melted cheese on top. It's a fun place for friends to gather or a cute date spot. You may or may not be hungry after depending what you order. There are larger plates/entrees like paella and branzino to share.

I've been coming here since 2021 and it's still my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood! My top favorite: The Wild Mushroom Chicken is out of this world with the king trumpet mushroom cream sauce. It's a very good portion as they give you (almost) half of a roasted chicken, topped with Parmesan gnocchi. Definitely worth sharing with the table! The Le Cochon or The Pig is a fun one as it's served in a big board with the options of eating your slow-cooked Berkshire pork with your steamed buns or lettuce wraps. The flavors are even more colorful when you add the toppings and in-house sauce that looks like it might be bbq sauce... but better because it's got a little bit of a bite to it! It's fresh, colorful and the pork is tenderrr! Last but not least, the 72 Hour Short Rib is a must try! The meat falls apart as soon as you touch it and sits on the best grits I've ever had, Plonk's Anson mills cheddar grits. The wine reduction compliments the dish and every bite makes you wish that the dish doesn't end. I highly recommend this restaurant for a date night, a casual night, a family night or just any night! They never disappoint and is truly a staple within the neighborhood.

I actually did not get to try anything here, and I do not plan to return…read more Before visiting, I specifically checked Google Maps because I had my dog with me. The listing for this exact location says "pets welcome," so I felt confident stopping by. However, as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by two customers fawning over my dog. Before any staff member greeted me or even acknowledged me as a customer, someone from behind the far counter told me that dogs were not allowed inside. I mentioned that their Google listing says pets are welcome, and the response was that it applies to a different location. That would be fine if it were clear, but the listing I checked had this location's address directly underneath "pets welcome." That is confusing and misleading. What made it more frustrating was the lack of hospitality. There was no greeting, no attempt to clarify kindly, no "We're sorry for the confusion," and no effort to offer a solution like helping me quickly order to go. It felt dismissive. Clear and accurate information matters. If pets are not welcome at this location, the listing should reflect that. I drove out of my way based on that detail, and it ended up being a waste of time and gas. Because of that experience, I chose not to patronize the this location but may try another location one day.

It's a nice lowkey neighborhood spot with a bar and outdoor seating as well. The ambiance was chill and casual which I am all for. They are pet friendly as I got to see some fur babies come in which is always nice. We started with some glasses of Cabernet and told our waiter we were celebrating my birthday. The food didn't take long to come out and was so darn good. It was probably one of the best steak nights I've had in a while. We had the ribeyes, mash potato, mac and cheese, green beans, and French fries. The steak was seasoned perfectly and grilled to the perfect temperature to my liking. We are still talking about it, I can't wait to come back and try their chimichurri sauce. We ended with the strawberry and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cheese cake. They weren't too sweet and just the right amount of richness. If they aren't on your list for steak night I definitely recommend!

Parking: Tons of parking here surprisingly, both a paved lot and a pebble lot. We had a reservation for 3 at 7PM and were promptly seated at a booth after a small line of people. Order-to-Appetizer: 15 Minutes Order-to-Entrees: 30 MInutes For three people, we ordered: Dairymaid's Cheese Board (4/5): Comes with four cheeses, five small pieces of sourdough, honey-spritzed grapes, green Granny Smith apples, and fava beans. I wish they gave us more bread with the cheeses and preserves. The four cheeses provided were slices of a five-year aged Cheddar, Oveja Anejo, Tomarashi, and Gruyere. I enjoyed the Tomarashi the most. It is a bit pricey for what you get, but very sharable and a great starter. Shady Acres Pizza with prosciutto (3.5/5): I really don't like getting thin crust pizza that isn't crispy, and unfortunately this was a soggy thin crust pizza. The toppings themselves were very flavorful, and the end parts were crispy enough. 5 Cheese Calzone with chicken (3.5/5): Whew, five cheeses makes for a salty calzone. The side marinara sauce provides a good balance. It's very filling. Chicken might have been a good addition because prosciutto might have made it too salty. It was larger than expected which was nice for sharability. Service was kind of iffy. They were pretty rude with not providing us utensils and seeming almost angry that we asked for some for the cheese board. They mixed up our order (we asked for chicken on the pizza and prosciutto on the calzone and they flipped it) and seemed almost apologetically serving us afterwards. Overall, would recommend as a relaxed date spot at a reasonable price. I paid via inKind and applied referral credit with no issues. Would come back with inKind credit, probably not at full price.
