Amazing waitress

Barcelona Wine Bar is a great place for a variety of occasions - from dates, bridal shows, engagement parties to girls nights and just a casual happy hour. Parking is limited around the area but their valet is $5. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and very personable. We did the $35 tasting menu and 2 pitchers of white sangria and everything we had was delicious. Highly recommend making a reservation for a larger party but there was plenty of bar seating midday on a Saturday. I'd definitely come back and highly encourage others to give this place a try!

Barcelona has become one of my favorite wine bars in town. I discovered Barcelona last year thanks to Yelp. Even though it is a chain, it has a neighborhood feel. I've visited a few times for dinner and brunch. One thing I appreciate about Barcelona is that they're open late. The menu changes seasonally. Some of the tapas options have been on the menu for awhile and others have not. I have enjoyed just about every dish that I have tried! Some standouts for me have been the Crispy Okra, Kale Salad, Potato Tortilla, Olive Oil Pancakes, Chicken Pintxos, and the Albondigas. They have so many wines to choose from and you can sample the wine before ordering. I've had a few of the wines as well as the Catalan Gintonic which was so good and refreshing! If you go on a Sunday, take advantage of their half off bottle special! My friends and I took advantage of this special for brunch and ordered a bottle of champagne. Our server brought unlimited juice for the table. We had the Guava-Lavender-Lemon juice and the Orange-Peach-Grapefruit juice. I liked both, but really enjoyed the Guava-Lavender-Lemon juice. It's a different take on the classic mimosa. The staff have always been so nice. Some servers have been more attentive than others, but overall, I've never had any negative encounters with employees. The only downside is parking. Montrose is already challenging for parking and the current construction on Westheimer adds to the difficulty. I usually find street parking in the neighborhood but they do have valet for $5. Despite the parking situation, it's a great place to gather. A GNO, date night, or a celebration, Barcelona has something for everyone.

Brunch with friends

Came for a Sunday brunch with friends. Nice to go with a group for a tapas style way to start the week. Reservations were easy. Nice to have a large table for our party of four. Favorite taste in our group was the Olive Oil Pancakes. Cinnamon Butter, maple syrup and the most delicious pancakes. I love cooking with olive oil, and these were just so light, so fluffy and so addictively delicious. We almost ordered a second set. The Patatas Bravas were also a hit. Crispy potatoes with a salsa brava and garlic aioli. How can you miss with these? The Spinach Frittata was filled with veggies and sheep's cheese. So yummy. Perfect for a Sunday brunch. Although I love redfish, the Redfish a la Plancha was just okay. A small serving and not impressive like the other dishes. Although I didn't try them, the bacon wrapped dates were the least favorite for our group. Loved the NA pitcher of Red Sangria. Not sure of everything that was in it, but the fresh fruit, elderflower and guava nectar made this morning drink so light and refreshing. Would definitely order this again. On Sundays, bottles are half-priced. Tip: Order a BarCava Brut for $22 and then make your own mimosas. Our sweet server gave us glasses filled with orange-peach-grapefruit and guava-lavender-lemon to customize the mimosas to taste. What a clever Sunday brunch tip. Thanks for a great Sunday brunch. Service was great. The food was delicious. Thanks for the tips for the sangria and the mimosas. Love this amazing Taste of Barcelona in Houston.

What a great place to get wine, drinks, and tapas. The service here was amazing! The tapas we got were amazing, without the sauce alone it was great, however could use a little bit more sauce, just cause. Everything was juicy and flavorful, I highly recommend and would come back.

Whipped Sheep's cheese

Friends and I rung in the new year at Barcelona Wine Bar and I'm disappointed I spent all of 2025 up and down Westheimer without ever spotting this fine eatery. The stuffed peppers were choice. The pepper added a subtle sweetness to the aged cheese inside, but the star of this show was the salsa verde. The salsa was herbaceous with a slight tang. The whipped sheep's cheese came with exquisitely crisped Crostinis. I suggest being generous with the truffle agave and pimentón cheese. The beef empanadas were a little bit on the sweeter side, almost reminiscent of some kind of barbecue which I'm afraid isn't what I was totally expecting when I order this dish. The red pepper sauce however was delicious and the dish was obviously very well made. I would probably explore other things on the menu before reordering these. The Basque burnt cheesecake was not great. And I'm part Basque!! It was slightly dry and not great in texture. Th is may have been the intent but was not particularly to my liking. The ambiance is like any other trendy wine bar and really curates the select Catalan atmosphere. Our waitress maintained a perfect balance of courtesy and nonchalance. I will be coming back here again to try the test of the menu, and I WILL be ordering the patatas bravas. These are a must. The Barcelona Wine Bar menu has great sauces, and that salsa brava is absolutely exceptional. The salsa has an enjoyable chunky-rustic texture with a bold flavor and mild spice. The creamy garlic aioli only complimented the salsa and papas.

Apertivo charcuterie
Tiffany J.

Corey, general manager, graciously invited me back out to try again. I brought two of my girl friends, and his exceptional service and warm greeting made all the difference! There was a hiccup with last minute reservations the last time we went, thus the long wait time. We didn't wait at all this time. The food was very tasty- I highly recommend the flank steak and the apertivo charcuterie to start things off. Their wine list is great as well. The ambience is always nice- good lighting, industrial comfy feel with an outdoor area as well, and music isn't too loud. I saw a lot of happy faces around me!

Came for brunch on a Sunday w some friends. We had a reservation but it wasn't super busy! They have a great deal on Sunday- half off bottles. We got a bottle and the mimosa flavors separate so we could try both flavors. The guava-lavender-lemon one was definitely my favorite! We also tried the non alcoholic sangria, which they serve with a glass with fruit in it. It was very refreshing. They do charcuterie, tapas and big plates. We decided on tapas so we all agreed on some plates and shared everything. We got bacon wrapped dates, redfish, olive oil pancakes, frittata, & patatas bravas. My favorite was definitely the olive oil pancakes- they are served with a cinnamon butter and it's just a really great flavor. Least favorite was or only the bacon wrapped dates. I love anything with bacon but I didn't like the cheese they had underneath the dates. It was a smidge to gamey/bleu cheese flavored for me. Overall I really enjoyed our time here! I would definitely love to comeback and try some of the other tapas and maybe a paella.

Chicken Kababs
Jennifer B.

Great tapas, lovely music and vibes but the bartender was wonderful with connecting and recommendations. For sure want to come back and try the branzino but we got some other delicious items like the spiced beef empanadas, crispy sunchokes, flank steak, kale salad and drinks. This is a good spot to come and eat some tapas!

Eggplant caponata
Carmen L.

A friend brought me here when I visited the area. I had Spanish food only twice before and this one was as good. The tapas choices were great and the cocktail was delicious! The only thing I don't like was the noise level, it was very loud that we can hardly have a conversation without shouting.

Whipped cheese
Jenny K.

This is a rare wine bar that has a full food menu. Reservations are definitely recommended due to how packed the restaurant can get. It's so packed that it is gets very loud a well. But I personally think the food and alcohol is a reasonable price and everything is decent. Some food was a bit saltier for my standard, and others were great. My favorite dish is the whipped cheese. Overall a great service and has a variety options on wine.

Paella
Maria C.

Had an incredible experience at this place! First, the food was delicious we ordered a paella for four people and it had a delicious flavor. It was the perfect amount for four people and was very enjoyable. The wine is half price on Sundays so it was pretty affordable. The place is beautiful inside and has a valet parking. The only thing to improve is that the waitress told us the paella was going to take 45minutes and it was almost an hour that we have to wait for it but I would still recommend this place.

Queso a la plancha
Jennifer G.

First time going and we were glad we tried it. There is a valet for parking at $5. Well worth it as parking near here is a nightmare. Happy Hour offered small bites, mini cocktails and 50% off of sparkling wine. Roasted carrots and heirloom tomatoes were standouts. Albondigas sauce was very good, but meatballs a bit dry. Patatas Bravas were also good with yummy sauce but the cup of mayo on top overpowered everything. Staff were great, and we will go back to try more items.

Happy hour menu
Brittany B.

We recently had a belated "Taurus birthday/congratulations on your engagement" friend's dinner, and Barcelona (on paper) fit the bill. While this spot certainly looks like a 1 of 1, I was floored to find out that they have many locations. The Houston location is in Montrose, off of Westheimer. While the parking in this area drives me wild, fair warning if you do not like to valet, the interior of the restaurant provides a sharp contrast to the chaos of Westheimer. It's easy to relax among the warm light kissed tables and glimmering tea candles. Although the happy hour menu is small, the dinner menu offers cocktails and wine at similar prices so I ordered the Alebrijes. A Mezcal based concoction with salted honey syrup, Aquafaba, dragon fruit and more, this is one of the most balanced Mezcal cocktails I've ever had. If you love Mezcal smoke, this one's not for you. However, if you're down for a slightly sweet, slightly salty, smooth sip, you have to give this one a try. In the spirit of tapas we also tried the queso a la plancha, house made ricotta, kale salad, spiced beef empanadas, albondigas, patatas bravas and paella verduras. And after all of that, we hadn't even put a dent in the menu. I'd recommend them all. Our service was fantastic and there's plenty I've yet to explore on the menu so I'll happily return when I have the patience for a $5 valet, or a long walk after parking elsewhere in Montrose.

The pork chop had a beautiful char and was full of flavor--slightly undercooked, yes, but still delicious enough to carry the whole meal. I do wish they had mashed potatoes on the menu, though... it would have made it perfect. We also shared the Brussels sprouts, and sadly, they missed the mark this time. Dry and bitter, nothing like the saucy, flavorful version I've had before--maybe just the late hour catching up with the kitchen. But even so, that pork chop... it lingered in the best way. I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. I will always treasure and remember Vinology and plan to support the business more in the future. Hats off to the folks who own and run this wine establishment.

I've had my fair share of Paulie's but never had the chance to come to Camerata...until now. I had been missing out for so long! We journeyed from white to red wines throughout the night. We started out with the Babylonstoren, a chenin blanc from South Africa. We then moved into pink (rose) with the Ana Beirut - a blend of cab sauv, syrah, and tempranillo grapes with a bit of skin contact to give the wine the pink color. Lastly we ordered the Guelbenzu - a red blend of tempranillo, cab sauv, syrah, and graciano. This full-bodied red was the absolute fan favorite of the table. Food options are on the light side: meat & cheese boards, bread, and small bites. We started out with the warm bread - while it's normally served with butter, there's an option to switch that out with olive oil & herbs which is what we did. We then went for the meat & cheese platter. We couldn't decide on which meats or cheeses, so we did the option of ordering all 8! This came with 4 delicious meats and 4 tasty cheeses (from Houston Dairymaids), also with crispy fava beans, olives, pickles, and bread. This was a good amount for our group of 4 to share. Elena was our server and she was absolutely OUTSTANDING. She vibed with us throughout the night and made sure that we were well-taken care of. We met owner Steve who was super welcoming - he and the entire staff at Light Years is super knowledgeable on their wines and are happy to make recommendations based on your preferences (and something that doesn't break the bank!). We were recommended a white pinot noir (crazy right?) for our first bottle, which was something unique and fun to try. While they did not have a chilled bottle available, they chilled a bottle off the shelf for us, but this did take about 15 minutes before we were served the wine. For our next bottle, we got a pinot noir - it was light and crisp, something I am not as used to in reds being primarily a cab sauv drinker myself. Our group really liked it and we didn't have any trouble killing the bottle. I appreciate having Light Years as a local neighborhood wine shop and will definitely be back to meet up with friends after a long day over some wine.
