I had the great pleasure of dining here for my birthday and it was an excellent experience. The first thing that impressed me was the service which was outstanding. Within the first ten minutes of entering, we had met not only a wonderful host but our server and one of the managers. Their casual check-ins were appropriate and appreciated, never feeling fake. Their restaurant is an upscale casual and simply decorated with an impressive bar and food menu. The meal was a combination of individual and shared dishes. I ordered the Ensalada Mixta 5/5 was great but perhaps not large enough to share, so get your own. Sharing the large plate of Paella Mariscos 4/5 was delicious but the hanger steak 5/5 is absolutely amazing. The wine selection is great offering something for everyone with flights available. Noni answered the phone and was very attentive and mentioned that they would accommodate if time permits special requests and most tapas were available. We drove 50 minutes and made. Our server Bella was fabulous, helped us selecting some of the menu items, Noni came to greet us. As a commercial broker who was dealt with restaurant owners before I can tell you this is the kind of manager you want running your restaurant. We remember the call, talked to us for a while, took his time to listening,got in a conversation about wine with my husband and even comp one bottle of wine of his favorite wines for us. After many trips to Spain and spending almost month in Madrid on May we were a very surprised to find a tapas restaurant that has truly authentic Spanish flavors. This is a good place for wine and snacking on a variety of dishes, especially if no one can decide what they want. There's a wide variety on the menu, and the dishes are pretty good. Pretty solid, but nothing particularly stellar. The space is pretty big with several different seating areas. Service is generally good. Barcelona has become one of my favorite wine bars in town. I discovered Barcelona last year thanks to Yelp. Even though it is a chain, it has a neighborhood feel. I've visited a few times for dinner and brunch. One thing I appreciate about Barcelona is that they're open late. The menu changes seasonally. Some of the tapas options have been on the menu for awhile and others have not. I have enjoyed just about every dish that I have tried! Some standouts for me have been the Crispy Okra, Kale Salad, Potato Tortilla, Olive Oil Pancakes, Chicken Pintxos, and the Albondigas. They have so many wines to choose from and you can sample the wine before ordering. I've had a few of the wines as well as the Catalan Gintonic which was so good and refreshing! If you go on a Sunday, take advantage of their half off bottle special! My friends and I took advantage of this special for brunch and ordered a bottle of champagne. Our server brought unlimited juice for the table. We had the Guava-Lavender-Lemon juice and the Orange-Peach-Grapefruit juice. I liked both, but really enjoyed the Guava-Lavender-Lemon juice. It's a different take on the classic mimosa. The staff have always been so nice. Some servers have been more attentive than others, but overall, I've never had any negative encounters with employees. The only downside is parking. Montrose is already challenging for parking and the current construction on Westheimer adds to the difficulty. I usually find street parking in the neighborhood but they do have valet for $5. Despite the parking situation, it's a great place to gather. Came for a Sunday brunch with friends. Nice to go with a group for a tapas style way to start the week. Reservations were easy. Nice to have a large table for our party of four. Favorite taste in our group was the Olive Oil Pancakes. Cinnamon Butter, maple syrup and the most delicious pancakes. I love cooking with olive oil, and these were just so light, so fluffy and so addictively delicious. We almost ordered a second set. The Patatas Bravas were also a hit. Crispy potatoes with a salsa brava and garlic aioli. How can you miss with these? The Spinach Frittata was filled with veggies and sheep's cheese. So yummy. Perfect for a Sunday brunch. Although I love redfish, the Redfish a la Plancha was just okay. A small serving and not impressive like the other dishes. Although I didn't try them, the bacon wrapped dates were the least favorite for our group. Loved the NA pitcher of Red Sangria. Not sure of everything that was in it, but the fresh fruit, elderflower and guava nectar made this morning drink so light and refreshing. Would definitely order this again. On Sundays, bottles are half-priced. Tip: Order a BarCava Brut for $22 and then make your own mimosas. Such a great girls night spot! My friends and I had a great dinner all thanks to Payton's impeccable service and friendliness. We ordered a variety of tapas and drinks based on Payton's recs and they sure didn't disappoint. Friends and I rung in the new year at Barcelona Wine Bar and I'm disappointed I spent all of 2025 up and down Westheimer without ever spotting this fine eatery. The stuffed peppers were choice. The pepper added a subtle sweetness to the aged cheese inside, but the star of this show was the salsa verde. The salsa was herbaceous with a slight tang. The whipped sheep's cheese came with exquisitely crisped Crostinis. I suggest being generous with the truffle agave and pimentón cheese. The beef empanadas were a little bit on the sweeter side, almost reminiscent of some kind of barbecue which I'm afraid isn't what I was totally expecting when I order this dish. The red pepper sauce however was delicious and the dish was obviously very well made. I would probably explore other things on the menu before reordering these. The Basque burnt cheesecake was not great. And I'm part Basque!! It was slightly dry and not great in texture. Th is may have been the intent but was not particularly to my liking. The ambiance is like any other trendy wine bar and really curates the select Catalan atmosphere. Our waitress maintained a perfect balance of courtesy and nonchalance. I will be coming back here again to try the test of the menu, and I WILL be ordering the patatas bravas. These are a must. There was a hiccup with last minute reservations the last time we went, thus the long wait time. We didn't wait at all this time. Barcelona Wine Bar is a great place for a variety of occasions - from dates, bridal shows, engagement parties to girls nights and just a casual happy hour. Parking is limited around the area but their valet is $5. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and very personable. We did the $35 tasting menu and 2 pitchers of white sangria and everything we had was delicious. Highly recommend making a reservation for a larger party but there was plenty of bar seating midday on a Saturday. Barcelona is a cute wine bar (also serves sangria and cocktails, btw) serving Spanish and Mediterranean tapas dishes. I joined friends for Sunday brunch, which was highly recommended. Our friend booked a reservation and was able to add a fourth person without any issues. It's on Westheimer where all the restaurants and shops are, so it's pretty busy. You can either park on the street or in the neighborhood behind. There's bar, small table and booth seating available. One of our friends who arrived early got to switch us to a booth since we'd have a few plates to share for the four of us. My friend and I shared the NA red sangria. I liked that there was a NA option for that, and you can choose either red or white. We ordered a pitcher since we were sharing. It was delicious and refreshing. I think I had about 3 wine glasses of it. Our group shared the red fish à la plancha, patatas bravas, spinach frittata, olive oil pancakes and bacon-wrapped dates. Some of the dishes were bigger than others. Tapas is meant to be small plates, and they were, but it's a little overpriced. For example, the red fish was $15.50 for maybe 2 oz of fish. The stack of olive oil pancakes were small and thin for $8.50. If you're sharing, it's not that much food. I was going to order another personal stack of olive oil pancakes because that cinnamon butter was so good! I decided not to after I let all of what we ordered and drank settle for a bit after. The valdeon whipped blue cheese under the bacon-wrapped dates didn't taste very good and seemed grainy to me. It was my least favorite. The standouts for me were the olive oil pancakes, spinach frittata that was actually loaded with more veggies and bell peppers and the patatas bravas which was piled with potatoes topped with mayo that melted down and looked almost like melted cheese on top. It's a fun place for friends to gather or a cute date spot. You may or may not be hungry after depending what you order. There are larger plates/entrees like paella and branzino to share. read more

We got a bottle and the mimosa flavors separate so we could try both flavors. The guava-lavender-lemon one was definitely my favorite! We also tried the non alcoholic sangria, which they serve with a glass with fruit in it. It was very refreshing. They do charcuterie, tapas and big plates. We decided on tapas so we all agreed on some plates and shared everything. We got bacon wrapped dates, redfish, olive oil pancakes, frittata, & patatas bravas. My favorite was definitely the olive oil pancakes- they are served with a cinnamon butter and it's just a really great flavor. Least favorite was or only the bacon wrapped dates. First time going and we were glad we tried it. There is a valet for parking at $5. Well worth it as parking near here is a nightmare. Happy Hour offered small bites, mini cocktails and 50% off of sparkling wine. Roasted carrots and heirloom tomatoes were standouts. Albondigas sauce was very good, but meatballs a bit dry. We recently had a belated "Taurus birthday/congratulations on your engagement" friend's dinner, and Barcelona (on paper) fit the bill. While this spot certainly looks like a 1 of 1, I was floored to find out that they have many locations. The Houston location is in Montrose, off of Westheimer. While the parking in this area drives me wild, fair warning if you do not like to valet, the interior of the restaurant provides a sharp contrast to the chaos of Westheimer. It's easy to relax among the warm light kissed tables and glimmering tea candles. Although the happy hour menu is small, the dinner menu offers cocktails and wine at similar prices so I ordered the Alebrijes. A Mezcal based concoction with salted honey syrup, Aquafaba, dragon fruit and more, this is one of the most balanced Mezcal cocktails I've ever had. If you love Mezcal smoke, this one's not for you. However, if you're down for a slightly sweet, slightly salty, smooth sip, you have to give this one a try. In the spirit of tapas we also tried the queso a la plancha, house made ricotta, kale salad, spiced beef empanadas, albondigas, patatas bravas and paella verduras. And after all of that, we hadn't even put a dent in the menu. I'd recommend them all. Our service was fantastic and there's plenty I've yet to explore on the menu so I'll happily return when I have the patience for a $5 valet, or a long walk after parking elsewhere in Montrose. read more

Exceptional! I came here to on a Saturday night for dinner and must say every dish was exceptional! The parking lot is small and only offered Valet on this particular night. We were greeted and sat as soon as we entered. The server came over right away and checked on us often. He was nice enough, he seemed like he couldn't wait for the night to be over. Came here for my birthday dinner and everything was amazing. We had a reservation for 7:15 pm on a Friday and the place filled up after that. Our server was checking in on us very frequently and she explained the menu to us when we told her we hadn't been before. The manager on duty also had stopped by and introduced herself. They told us up front that tapas would be able to be out quickly with only up to a 10 minute wait but that larger plates could be up to a 45 minute wait. We ordered several tapas and one large plate half order. I don't know much about wine, personally, but the drinks we did get were amazing. The restaurant itself was very pretty as well, lots of natural lighting and then low lighting as the sun went down. The music was low and we were able to hear each other well, apart from one group across the room that would get rowdy but I can't blame them for having a good time. Our food was all delicious and I forgot to take pics of some of them because we devoured them so quickly. Not pictured, we ordered the grilled asparagus and focaccia. Bayla is one of the best servers I've ever had. That's coming from someone who only cooks twice a month, and thus frequently eats out. I spend ample time at high ends / Michelin star restaurants, and so I am familiar with all star service. The parking lot was valet only for $5 which is not bad considering parking is Montrose is a hassle and we didn't want to drive around to fine a spot. The restaurant was bustling and was extremely loud with low lighting. Would be a cute date spot if it wasn't so loud, maybe if we came earlier it would be less crowded. But the night crowd was having a blast at Barcelona. They have a wide range of tapas (small dishes) that come out fairly quickly and they also have large dishes that take 30-45mins to make. We order drinks and tapas for the night and everything was really good! Food what we ordered: Jamon & Manchego Croquetas, Grilled Pulpo, Red fish a la Plancha, Chickin Pintos, ciabatta bread and Pork Belly. Honestly all the food was so good, we ended up getting seconds on some of these dishes. We have so much more we wanted to try but was getting full! We also got the olive cake and flan for dessert. I've never known this place was here but it is super cute inside! Also it's half off bottles on Sundays! Super cute spot with a large bar and ample seating. They also have an assortment of charcuterie boards, breads and side dishes you can order. Our waiter was nice and very helpful. He asked what our flavor pallete was for wine and brought us samples to guide our decision on what bottle to order. The music at the time a bit mid eeh Edm. We came here for a celebratory brunch. While it was a cool experience, and some of the menu items really stood out to me, there was a lot not quite working for me personally Parking: There is street parking since it's in Montrose. They also have a small lot on the side that seems to usually be valet but I think it was self parking at 10am on Sunday The space: I really enjoyed the design of the space and a lot of the natural elements. We were sat in the back room/ atrium at a table backed into a nook. While the entire group fit here it really hindered the service. The servers kept serving drinks and food over me (I was sitting at the middle seat ) which was stressful and influenced my experience greatly. Service: When serving drinks the servers relied on me to help pass them out to the other end of the table. When they brought the food they placed more of it themselves but frequently touched my head (not ideal while eating ). The sauce from the meat tray spilled on my spot and jacket some as well... When clearing plates the servers spent a lot of time stacking them at the table to take away, which was awkward because they couldn't reach and we were all so cramped. They also forgot my coffee which I had to reorder while everyone drank theirs and ate dessert. Overall the level of service didn't match the price or experience. There's definitely a lot to work on there Food: Definitely come with a group and be ready to share! I personally loved the fish &chips,octopus, and veggies. The meat plate was a big hit too. Have always passed by this place and decided to go for Valentine's Day dinner. There was valet for $5 as the parking lot was rather small. We had made reservations inside which they sat us initially outside, so we requested sitting inside which they were able to accommodate thankfully. It was quite busy but has great ambience. Our server was very sweet despite it being so busy and brought food out quickly. I ordered a Bees and Bays drink that was too sour for me. The portions are smaller as it is tapas so we wanted to try a variety. For starters, we ordered patatas bravas which was paired with a garlic aioli which became a bit too heavy after a few bites. Their house made focaccia was fluffy and made a good side dish. For seafood, we tried the seared scallops with a parsnip base that was seasoned well. We also ordered the roasted oysters which had three oysters that were quite disappointing as the texture was off and too salty. For meats, we ordered the chicken pintxos which were my favorite with two chicken skewers with great flavor of char and super tender, paired well with the dill aioli. We also ordered the albondigas which were picked meatballs in tomato sauce which has a good texture and seasoned well. We also ordered a cauliflower dish that was topped with a pesto like sauce which was fully covered in oil which was disappointing as we love roasted cauliflower. Lastly for dessert, we ordered a chocolate cake which had a rich creamy chocolate icing topped with almond crumble which was not super sweet, for sure a plus. The waiter also came to take a Polaroid picture for us which was so sweet that we got to take home and chocolate truffles which were heavenly. Tapas come out very fast. They must be premade. The drinks come slowly because they are understaffed. We must have received 2 rounds of tapas before the drinks came. The paella takes the longest - 45 minutes+, and took so long we had to cancel our order because we had babysitters at home. Food - everything was good; nothing was incredible. The olive oil cake, ricotta, and eggplant were my favorites, in that order. Ambience - scene-y, a place to dress up to go to. I love tapas and there aren't that many spots in Houston to choose from. I've had a few but they didn't really impress me. I was surprised that I had never heard of this place until my sister told me about it recently. They were quite a few reservations open when we booked a week in advance so we were surprised to see a packed restaurant when we showed up for dinner. We ended up having to wait about 20 minutes before we were finally seated. Drinks: White sangria: 4/5 Not too sweet and didn't give me a hangover like some other sangrias Food: Focaccia: 3.5/5 good but nothing special Roasted cauliflower: 4.5/5 cooked perfectly with lots of flavor Crispy brussel sprouts: 2.5/5 way too salty Patatas bravas: 4.5/5 loved the sauce it came with Potato tortilla: 3/5 average potato Marinated boquerones: 4/5 I love boquerones but I know they're not for everybody. The sweet potato chips were a nice touch Gambas al ajillo: 3.5/5 good but not amazing Mussels: 4.5/5 I don't think we had any remaining sauce left Grilled pulpo: 4/5 very tender and flavorful Spiced beef empanadas: 3.5/5 they were solid Chicken pinxto: 4/5 I usually don't really like to order chicken, but it was very juicy Lamb Bolognese: 3.5/5 it was a hearty way to end the meal but slightly gamey Overall, I think this is a great spot for a double date or catch up with friends. Came in with some friends and sat at the bar on Father's Day. It was busy and Cortez was an absolute rock star. The service he provided us was amazing and I'd come back for his service alone. The food was fabulous and the drinks were spectacular. Fairly priced and the ambiance was fun without being absorbently expensive. The olive oil cake was iconic and I would return for food and service. Cortez needs a raise asap. read more

I enjoyed this place. We shared a pitcher of Sangria and several tapas. The favorites were the gambas, flank steak and the patatas bravas. The red Sangria was a little floral and not very boozy. I enjoyed my side hustle drink but the serving is small. It's a bit loud inside but we could still hear each other talking. The service was good and we had everything we needed. The lot was valet only $5. Not sure if that's just weekends or not. Definitely will come again. read more

It was our first visit to Barcelona, and definitely not our last. Lunch today was delicious. We ordered a few pieces from the cheeseboard - tasty, but next time I'd skip it and go straight for the tapas. Our table of 4 share the eggplant, broccolini, broccolini Benedict, steak and eggs, scallops and patatas bravas. Every dish was flavorful and well prepared. I also recommend the white wine sangria - it's the best Sangria I've had in Houston. Came in on a busy Friday night, pretty much only standing room around the bar, and everyone was scouring for an open bar seat like vultures - to be expected! Vibe was great, food was excellent, service was also great considering how many people there were (my friend and I sat at the bar and loved it). Their signature drinks are well-crafted, creative, and not too sweet. Zach, who was helping us with figuring out the seating situation, was also very hospitable and kind. Stopped by after dinner for an espresso martini and had a great experience. The drink itself was a little strong for my taste, but the foam on top was a perfect 10/10. We came in kind of late--just a group of four wanting two drinks--but the bartender was incredibly friendly and accommodating considering that. There were still a few guests at the bar, and given the busy, popular area, I imagine they're used to last-minute visitors. The space is pretty, with a laid-back and welcoming vibe.
