Bayla is one of the best servers I've ever had. That's coming from someone who only cooks twice a month, and thus frequently eats out. I spend ample time at high ends / Michelin star restaurants, and so I am familiar with all star service. Bayla really made our time special by going out of her way to make us feel comfortable and valued. She made it all seem effortless and at no point did she ever make us feel like a burden. Barcelona is a cute wine bar (also serves sangria and cocktails, btw) serving Spanish and Mediterranean tapas dishes. I joined friends for Sunday brunch, which was highly recommended. Our friend booked a reservation and was able to add a fourth person without any issues. It's on Westheimer where all the restaurants and shops are, so it's pretty busy. You can either park on the street or in the neighborhood behind. There's bar, small table and booth seating available. One of our friends who arrived early got to switch us to a booth since we'd have a few plates to share for the four of us. My friend and I shared the NA red sangria. I liked that there was a NA option for that, and you can choose either red or white. We ordered a pitcher since we were sharing. It was delicious and refreshing. I think I had about 3 wine glasses of it. Our group shared the red fish à la plancha, patatas bravas, spinach frittata, olive oil pancakes and bacon-wrapped dates. Some of the dishes were bigger than others. Tapas is meant to be small plates, and they were, but it's a little overpriced. For example, the red fish was $15.50 for maybe 2 oz of fish. The stack of olive oil pancakes were small and thin for $8.50. If you're sharing, it's not that much food. I was going to order another personal stack of olive oil pancakes because that cinnamon butter was so good! I decided not to after I let all of what we ordered and drank settle for a bit after. The valdeon whipped blue cheese under the bacon-wrapped dates didn't taste very good and seemed grainy to me. It was my least favorite. The standouts for me were the olive oil pancakes, spinach frittata that was actually loaded with more veggies and bell peppers and the patatas bravas which was piled with potatoes topped with mayo that melted down and looked almost like melted cheese on top. Such a great girls night spot! My friends and I had a great dinner all thanks to Payton's impeccable service and friendliness. We ordered a variety of tapas and drinks based on Payton's recs and they sure didn't disappoint. Barcelona Wine Bar is a great place for a variety of occasions - from dates, bridal shows, engagement parties to girls nights and just a casual happy hour. Parking is limited around the area but their valet is $5. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and very personable. We did the $35 tasting menu and 2 pitchers of white sangria and everything we had was delicious. Highly recommend making a reservation for a larger party but there was plenty of bar seating midday on a Saturday. Barcelona has become one of my favorite wine bars in town. I discovered Barcelona last year thanks to Yelp. Even though it is a chain, it has a neighborhood feel. I've visited a few times for dinner and brunch. One thing I appreciate about Barcelona is that they're open late. The menu changes seasonally. Some of the tapas options have been on the menu for awhile and others have not. I have enjoyed just about every dish that I have tried! Some standouts for me have been the Crispy Okra, Kale Salad, Potato Tortilla, Olive Oil Pancakes, Chicken Pintxos, and the Albondigas. They have so many wines to choose from and you can sample the wine before ordering. I've had a few of the wines as well as the Catalan Gintonic which was so good and refreshing! If you go on a Sunday, take advantage of their half off bottle special! My friends and I took advantage of this special for brunch and ordered a bottle of champagne. Our server brought unlimited juice for the table. We had the Guava-Lavender-Lemon juice and the Orange-Peach-Grapefruit juice. I liked both, but really enjoyed the Guava-Lavender-Lemon juice. It's a different take on the classic mimosa. The staff have always been so nice. Some servers have been more attentive than others, but overall, I've never had any negative encounters with employees. The only downside is parking. Montrose is already challenging for parking and the current construction on Westheimer adds to the difficulty. I usually find street parking in the neighborhood but they do have valet for $5. Despite the parking situation, it's a great place to gather. Came for a Sunday brunch with friends. Nice to go with a group for a tapas style way to start the week. Reservations were easy. Nice to have a large table for our party of four. Favorite taste in our group was the Olive Oil Pancakes. Cinnamon Butter, maple syrup and the most delicious pancakes. I love cooking with olive oil, and these were just so light, so fluffy and so addictively delicious. We almost ordered a second set. The Patatas Bravas were also a hit. Crispy potatoes with a salsa brava and garlic aioli. How can you miss with these? The Spinach Frittata was filled with veggies and sheep's cheese. So yummy. Perfect for a Sunday brunch. Although I love redfish, the Redfish a la Plancha was just okay. A small serving and not impressive like the other dishes. Although I didn't try them, the bacon wrapped dates were the least favorite for our group. Loved the NA pitcher of Red Sangria. Not sure of everything that was in it, but the fresh fruit, elderflower and guava nectar made this morning drink so light and refreshing. Would definitely order this again. On Sundays, bottles are half-priced. Tip: Order a BarCava Brut for $22 and then make your own mimosas. Friends and I rung in the new year at Barcelona Wine Bar and I'm disappointed I spent all of 2025 up and down Westheimer without ever spotting this fine eatery. The stuffed peppers were choice. The pepper added a subtle sweetness to the aged cheese inside, but the star of this show was the salsa verde. The salsa was herbaceous with a slight tang. The whipped sheep's cheese came with exquisitely crisped Crostinis. I suggest being generous with the truffle agave and pimentón cheese. The beef empanadas were a little bit on the sweeter side, almost reminiscent of some kind of barbecue which I'm afraid isn't what I was totally expecting when I order this dish. The red pepper sauce however was delicious and the dish was obviously very well made. I would probably explore other things on the menu before reordering these. The Basque burnt cheesecake was not great. And I'm part Basque!! It was slightly dry and not great in texture. Th is may have been the intent but was not particularly to my liking. The ambiance is like any other trendy wine bar and really curates the select Catalan atmosphere. Our waitress maintained a perfect balance of courtesy and nonchalance. I will be coming back here again to try the test of the menu, and I WILL be ordering the patatas bravas. These are a must. We had such a wonderful Mother's Day experience at this wine bar! The atmosphere was beautiful, the food and wine were excellent, and the service truly stood out. Our server Bayla was awesome. She was so attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout our visit. She really went above and beyond to make our celebration feel special and memorable. Came for brunch on a Sunday w some friends. We had a reservation but it wasn't super busy! They have a great deal on Sunday- half off bottles. We got a bottle and the mimosa flavors separate so we could try both flavors. The guava-lavender-lemon one was definitely my favorite! We also tried the non alcoholic sangria, which they serve with a glass with fruit in it. It was very refreshing. They do charcuterie, tapas and big plates. We really enjoyed the food and drink at Barcelona for my birthday. Unfortunately, I have celiac disease and need to eat gluten-free. We are very aware that cross-contamination could happen in many restaurants. The waitress showed us what was gluten-free and we ordered only those items. I became sick overnight, which was attributed to getting gluten. I reached out via the website to find out what might've had gluten in it, but had no response back. We try to be very careful when eating out and understanding the cross-contamination risk. I was just hoping to know if maybe something we ordered could have had gluten. We recently had a belated "Taurus birthday/congratulations on your engagement" friend's dinner, and Barcelona (on paper) fit the bill. While this spot certainly looks like a 1 of 1, I was floored to find out that they have many locations. The Houston location is in Montrose, off of Westheimer. While the parking in this area drives me wild, fair warning if you do not like to valet, the interior of the restaurant provides a sharp contrast to the chaos of Westheimer. It's easy to relax among the warm light kissed tables and glimmering tea candles. Although the happy hour menu is small, the dinner menu offers cocktails and wine at similar prices so I ordered the Alebrijes. A Mezcal based concoction with salted honey syrup, Aquafaba, dragon fruit and more, this is one of the most balanced Mezcal cocktails I've ever had. If you love Mezcal smoke, this one's not for you. However, if you're down for a slightly sweet, slightly salty, smooth sip, you have to give this one a try. In the spirit of tapas we also tried the queso a la plancha, house made ricotta, kale salad, spiced beef empanadas, albondigas, patatas bravas and paella verduras. And after all of that, we hadn't even put a dent in the menu. I'd recommend them all. The restaurant was bustling and was extremely loud with low lighting. Would be a cute date spot if it wasn't so loud, maybe if we came earlier it would be less crowded. But the night crowd was having a blast at Barcelona. They have a wide range of tapas (small dishes) that come out fairly quickly and they also have large dishes that take 30-45mins to make. We order drinks and tapas for the night and everything was really good! Food what we ordered: Jamon & Manchego Croquetas, Grilled Pulpo, Red fish a la Plancha, Chickin Pintos, ciabatta bread and Pork Belly. I've never known this place was here but it is super cute inside! Also it's half off bottles on Sundays! Super cute spot with a large bar and ample seating. We came here for a celebratory brunch. While it was a cool experience, and some of the menu items really stood out to me, there was a lot not quite working for me personally Parking: There is street parking since it's in Montrose. They also have a small lot on the side that seems to usually be valet but I think it was self parking at 10am on Sunday The space: I really enjoyed the design of the space and a lot of the natural elements. We were sat in the back room/ atrium at a table backed into a nook. While the entire group fit here it really hindered the service. The servers kept serving drinks and food over me (I was sitting at the middle seat ) which was stressful and influenced my experience greatly. Service: When serving drinks the servers relied on me to help pass them out to the other end of the table. When they brought the food they placed more of it themselves but frequently touched my head (not ideal while eating ). The sauce from the meat tray spilled on my spot and jacket some as well... When clearing plates the servers spent a lot of time stacking them at the table to take away, which was awkward because they couldn't reach and we were all so cramped. They also forgot my coffee which I had to reorder while everyone drank theirs and ate dessert. Overall the level of service didn't match the price or experience. There's definitely a lot to work on there Food: Definitely come with a group and be ready to share! I personally loved the fish &chips,octopus, and veggies. The meat plate was a big hit too. The restaurant's ambience is amazing! It's particularly great for dinner dates, as it's got quite a romantic vibe. Similar to the Atlanta, GA location I first tried so I was excited to have one locally. Thank you to our amazing server, B, who truly made our experience memorable! Great human and seems to sincerely care about providing the service everyone would want in any restaurant! The House-Made Ricotta was a top favorite as the persimmon marmalade really took it to a different level, especially paired with toasted focaccia. You definitely will want more focaccia as the serving of the 3 small pieces is not enough! The Jamon & Manchego Croquetas were quite disappointing. The Garlic Aioli paired with the Croquetas didn't do it any favor from our perspective. It may be due to the lack of actual Jamon/ham stuffing. The Steak Paillard was another disappoint as it was served well done and didn't taste like it was salted. The vinaigrette helped a little bit but I don't think the crispy potatoes would be needed if the steak itself was able to carry the flavors. Our biggest disappointment was the Paella Mariscos as the mussels, clams and calamari seemed overcooked. The calamari was extra chewy but thankfully, the rice and shrimp weren't too bad. Ultimately, the lemon really helped the dish. Last but definitely not least, the Chocolate Cake! Thank goodness for it as it really helped cleanse our palate from the paella. I am a fan of this as a chocolate lover! Friendly warning for those that are not, it's quite thick and dense! The coffee crème anglaise and almond crumble on top is a perfect match, in my opinion. I have celiac (strictly gluten-free) and I'm vegetarian, and they brought out a separate menu with all the specific things I could enjoy, which had a lot of options, and they have good protocols for cross contaimination and a dedicated GF fryer. We got several of the small pours of different wines to try out, and they were all good! They let us know the paella takes a while to make, so we ordered the paella verduras (vegetables) which was pretty good, flavorful and with a delicious mojo Verde sauce. The patatas bravas was my favorite with perfectly cooked potatoes with a savory creamy garlic aioli sauce. We also got the spinach and chickpea cazuela, eggplant caponata, queso a la plancha (unique and yummy dish), and crispy sunchokes. Every dish had unique, savory, well balanced flavors and each component was cooked to perfection. The chocolate cake (flourless) was shockingly exquisite, with dense rich flavor and a nice almond crumble on top. As soon as we sat down, we ordered the chicken, chorizo & sausage paella since the staff gave us a heads-up that it takes the longest. They were super thoughtful and gave me a marked-up menu noting everything I should avoid because of my shellfish allergy. The ribeye was perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce, the meatballs came in an incredible red sauce, and we couldn't resist getting two orders of focaccia bread -- warm, fresh, and absolutely addicting. Everything was a 10/10. The ambiance is amazing -- moody, with dim lighting in the evenings that sets such a vibe. The bar itself is lively and fun, and the service is consistently good. I love that you can ask any server for help, not just "your" waiter, which makes the whole experience feel smooth and welcoming. My only small complaint is that I wish they had more chilled red wine options (there was only one), but it was still good. Between the amazing food, thoughtful service, and fun deals like happy hour during the week & Sunday wine specials, this place has quickly become one of my favorites. Fantastic food, wine and service! My husband and I arrive around 11 pm looking for a light bite and a glass of wine. I had a glass of cava and my husband ordered an old fashioned. Both were wonderful! For food we ordered the chickpea spinach cazuela and the focaccia. Both were phenomenal! We finished it off with a piece of olive oil cake and a glass of red sangria! The olive oil cake was wonderful with a hint of citrus and was served warm. The sangria is made in house. It is a bit strong but it was delicious! The ambiance was good. We sat at the bar. Overall the establishment was loud due to a few tables who appeared to have had a little too much to drink. Overall, great experience and I would recommend to friends. read more

I visted Barcelona Wine Bar for my cousin's birthday and it was so much fun. The ambiance and the service were really great. Everything I ordered did not miss. Went here for a mid-Saturday date with my hubby. I can't rave enough! Atmosphere is upscale, but with the added bonus of being able to select reasonably-priced and delectable tapas (small plates). It's "wine bar meets high-end industrial". Wine list is fun and exotic. Highly recommend, check out some specifics below: Tasting recs: Absolutely order this. Don't look at the description of the menu item because half the fun is the surprise of the flavors: The Whipped Sheep's Milk and the Uruguayan Bodegas Cerro Chapeau Chardonnay. The Chardonnay is light, without the overbearing "diesel" flavor of most Californian chards. It absolutely compliments the complex and delicate flavor of the sheep's milk dish. I can honestly say this was a first for me, both in trying sheep's milk and a wine from Uruguay. Second, try the mussels paired with the above mentioned chard or another light wine that doesn't overpower the mussels. The broth was flavorful and the mussels were cooked to perfection. The only downfall being the garlic slightly overwhelmed the delicate mussels, but still it was a symphony of flavors. The vibe: I called ahead to check the busyness and a bright a chipper voice answered me on the other end of the line: "Barcelona wine bar, this is Cory, how can I help you?" After assuring me there were tables open and we should come on by, we mercifully found a front row parking spot off Westheimer and walked in from the chill of the January day. Cory met us with a million dollar smile and asked if we'd been there before. As newcomers, he made sure our lovely waitress, Mary, gave us a rundown of the menu. We ordered a white wine flight and looked over the tapas offerings. A lively group of ladies was celebrating something and an adorable couple with their 2-year-old daughter (who had a cute ponytail atop her head) were enjoying their meal adjacent to us. The resonant sounds of my adolescence, 90s alternative, was playing overhead. Overall, it was a loud and fun atmosphere. The ladies next to us ended their celebration with a Spanish-meets-Barcelona-wine-bar specialty -- a flask of rose sangria meted out to any exuberant party-goer who wanted to participate. If you like sweet, sparkling wine, you MUST try the Anecoop Reymos wine. Our AMAZING waitress recommended it to us. I would go back just for that wine! Thankfully, the food was equally as yummy. A great experience always- Barcelona is a chain across some major cities, DC, Boston, and Houston to name a few. The ambiance is lively and friendly, and the waitstaff was friendly.
