    SIMONE BURGER

Simone is such a cute and intimate space for date night. Came with one of my girlfriends to catch up and we had a good time. I had the Simone burger and she had the margherita pizza. Both were delicious! We shared the truffle fries and those were good as well. For cocktails we had Simone's Sangria! Definitely worth trying! I want to come back and check out their speakeasy. At the time, bachata classes were being offered and we definitely were not prepared for that!

This was a decent dinner experience. J. and I stopped by on a Friday evening in time for their happy hour. On arrival we were invited to sit wherever we liked. They have a bar setup with a few tables and chairs (plenty of people were working on their computers, coffee shop style). There's also a back room with couches. Our server soon greeted us and took our order. We decided on two of the red wines - J had a cab and I had a Chianti. We had a few bites beforehand, so we opted for one Man Pizza to share. All of our orders were good - we enjoyed the wines and the pizza was delicious! The main issue was just the timing - it took a long time for our pizza to come and I think our server may have initially forgotten the order. All's well that ends well, though, so it was a nice dining experience. I would consider coming back, but keeping in mind that they are on the pricier side of other similar restaurants in the area.

Not this place being here over a decade. Why I thought it was new? Any way I came through here work a bday celebration. Um there's like no parking but they have complimentary valet and there is some street parking further down sunset. The venue is small but there are little intimate spaces all through. There's a small wine tasting room to the immediate left. Then a larger apparently new space that appeared unfinished with seats. They offer food and beverages and some cutesy drinks. They have mood lightening aka its kind of dark inside. Server was pretty attentive there weren't many people in there though. You also have to goto the bar to closeout despite them taking your order at the table. The outdoor seating in the front of the restaurant is cute and I like the lightening. This is an interesting bar in the rice village area to check out.

Chic little boutique style wine bar. Wide selection of wines and interesting cocktails. Food is limited to pizza and small bites but as long as you're not going there for a "nice" meal you're good. They do have specials like steak night. Best of all is the cool ambience.

PLEASE READ B4 PAYING YOUR TAB!! When visiting this establishment, it is advisable to pay with cash and avoid providing your credit card to prevent potential discrepancies. The bar staff may allegedly inflate your bill, attribute another patron's tab to your account, and claim that you did not settle your bill. Furthermore, there have been reports of unauthorized credit card transactions, with one individual claiming a $400 charge the day after their visit. A group of friends visited Simone's for happy hour, arriving separately and opening individual tabs. They settled their respective bills, but one patron never received their credit card back after providing it to open a tab. Despite having a receipt for their order, the credit card was not returned. The following morning, the patron discovered a $400 charge on their account. They immediately recalled that the staff at Simone's had not returned their credit card. Moreover, the staff allegedly claimed that the group had walked out without paying for their meals, despite charging everything to another patron's credit card. The group possesses bank statements showing that Simone's deducted money from all our accounts By authorization, a payment was made to Simone's on Sunset from sll of our bank accounts. YOU WILL find the paid statements below. Upon calling Simone's, they declined to discuss the matter, stating that our party had left without paying our tab. We would like clarification as we sat at the bar, and it is unclear how six African-American females could have exited without paying. Could you please provide a clear explanation? AND MAKE IT PLAIN!!???

I celebrated my friend's 21st here, and it was a great experience! The drinks were delicious (a bit pricey), and the Rockefeller oysters with pesto sauce were amazing--highly recommend them. The service was excellent--they even brought us desserts to try, including lemon, chocolate cake, and pistachio cake, which were all fantastic. The karaoke room made it even more fun. Great spot!

I was so excited to finally try this place, but boy, it was a huge let down. Giving this place 2 stars just for the ambience. The food was not great at all. The pizza which was about $16 tasted like the frozen pizza you get from the grocery store. You are better off going to Pizza Hut than getting pizza from here. The "truffle" fries tasted very basic. It was regular fries with very little cheese sprinkled on top. If you want real truffle fries, I'd suggest heading to hoppdoddy, where the taste and quality of the fries are WAYYY better than these. They only had ketchup and chutney that goes with the samosas. They did not have any other sauces. Also, the drink I ordered looked beautiful, however, they burned something in it to make it smoke, which left particles of ash and dust inside the drink. It also tasted burnt and ashy which kind of ruined the drink. I've had many flaming and smoked drinks, but this was just HORRIBLE. My friends tried it as well and none of us could finish it because of how excessively smoky it was. I came his for a birthday happy hour and they didn't even do anything special for the birthday girl, when we asked. Overall, it was a bit pricey for the quality of food you are getting. I'm always willing to pay for good food, but this just wasn't it. We will not be coming back, especially when there are so many better options at rice village nearby. The parking situation is also a bit of a hassle because there is only valet or else you have to park way down the street and walk. They have about 4 spots in the front the restaurant, which they also make you valet for. Not everyone wants to valet, so it would be nice to have an option to park somewhere nearby.

Came with some friends on a weekend evening. Service was just ok. I had a reservation but we were stuck with a very tiny table for 4 people (it was that or sitting outside in the cold). My cocktail was fun, the tonic water made the drink change colors slightly and it tasted nice. Food also just ok. Samosas were tiny. Pizza was average, nothing to really dislike but also nothing to rave about. We had to flag down the waiters to order things and bring us the check, etc. They have valet parking, based on tips. Otherwise you could try to park in the surrounding neighborhood. No available lot.

Our friend booked a reservation and was able to add a fourth person without any issues. It's on Westheimer where all the restaurants and shops are, so it's pretty busy. You can either park on the street or in the neighborhood behind. There's bar, small table and booth seating available. One of our friends who arrived early got to switch us to a booth since we'd have a few plates to share for the four of us. My friend and I shared the NA red sangria. I liked that there was a NA option for that, and you can choose either red or white. We ordered a pitcher since we were sharing. It was delicious and refreshing. I think I had about 3 wine glasses of it. Our group shared the red fish à la plancha, patatas bravas, spinach frittata, olive oil pancakes and bacon-wrapped dates. Some of the dishes were bigger than others. Tapas is meant to be small plates, and they were, but it's a little overpriced. For example, the red fish was $15.50 for maybe 2 oz of fish. The stack of olive oil pancakes were small and thin for $8.50. If you're sharing, it's not that much food. I was going to order another personal stack of olive oil pancakes because that cinnamon butter was so good! I decided not to after I let all of what we ordered and drank settle for a bit after. The valdeon whipped blue cheese under the bacon-wrapped dates didn't taste very good and seemed grainy to me. It was my least favorite. The standouts for me were the olive oil pancakes, spinach frittata that was actually loaded with more veggies and bell peppers and the patatas bravas which was piled with potatoes topped with mayo that melted down and looked almost like melted cheese on top. It's a fun place for friends to gather or a cute date spot. You may or may not be hungry after depending what you order. There are larger plates/entrees like paella and branzino to share.

I've had my fair share of Paulie's but never had the chance to come to Camerata...until now. I had been missing out for so long! We journeyed from white to red wines throughout the night. We started out with the Babylonstoren, a chenin blanc from South Africa. We then moved into pink (rose) with the Ana Beirut - a blend of cab sauv, syrah, and tempranillo grapes with a bit of skin contact to give the wine the pink color. Lastly we ordered the Guelbenzu - a red blend of tempranillo, cab sauv, syrah, and graciano. This full-bodied red was the absolute fan favorite of the table. Food options are on the light side: meat & cheese boards, bread, and small bites. We started out with the warm bread - while it's normally served with butter, there's an option to switch that out with olive oil & herbs which is what we did. We then went for the meat & cheese platter. We couldn't decide on which meats or cheeses, so we did the option of ordering all 8! This came with 4 delicious meats and 4 tasty cheeses (from Houston Dairymaids), also with crispy fava beans, olives, pickles, and bread. This was a good amount for our group of 4 to share. Elena was our server and she was absolutely OUTSTANDING. She vibed with us throughout the night and made sure that we were well-taken care of. I loved her energy along with her vast knowledge of wines. We got plenty of good recommendations from her during our time there. I'm super sad that Houston will be losing this gem permanently at the end of the year (and even more sad that I only discovered it in the last month of its existence). While I know that owner Paulie won't be moving this venture to a new spot, I do hope a descendant of Camerata manifests itself somewhere in Houston in the coming years.

It's part of the Paulie's Restaurant brands, but completely separate from the restaurant from what I could tell. Parking is a bit difficult, but after a bit of circling we were able to find a spot and make our way in what looked like the back entrance. It was very low key, and despite the sign, the door seemed almost hidden in that back little corner. The staff seemed to have a bit of a hipster vibe-- not unexpected given the Montrose area-- but were very friendly. They offered suggestions, but let us go with what we wanted to try. There's a food menu along with the drinks, but we were heading to the restaurant next door, so we passed on grabbing food. We ended up going with a couple of glasses of red and a couple of the specialty chocolates. My wife loved her salted caramel chocolate. I enjoyed my peppermint chocolate. For the glasses of wine, I've got better at home for bottles the same price as those glasses. My wife really enjoyed the vibe, but even if this place wasn't about to close down, I'm not sure I'd be coming back here often. It's just too hard to park.

I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. We started by asking for ice in the water from the waitress since they just give you room temp water. After 10 mins of seeing her serve other tables and ignoring our request, we then figured the water boy would make it happen...and sure enough he did. We then ordered the grilled oysters, which are very lightly cooked, almost seemingly steamed more than anything, but they were very good regardless of the cooking method with the sauces and garnishes and pickle juice added. Next up was ordering the entrees. The menu here is a little strange with numerous vegan choices with strange titles and only a few items with protein. To top it off, there are not many choices period. The waitress explained that the left side is basically the apps, and the right side is basically the entrees. I knew I wanted to try the wagyu flat iron steak which is priced pretty high here, compared to other wagyu flat irons I've had at other restaurants across the US. We couldn't really decide on a 2nd main dish then the waitress mentioned the off the menu special which was a scallop pasta so we picked that thinking it sounded delicious. We immediately told the waitress the next time she stopped by....and she just said okay, and walked away. I figured she would go get the manager....but nope...she just kept on serving other tables. At this point we thought to ourselves only the oyster app was decent.....and no reason to look at the dessert menu since we had already spent over $100 on food we could hardly eat. Sure enough, the waitress stops by a 2nd time and asks if we'd like to see the dessert menu. I couldn't leave fast enough and told her we'll skip. Needless to say we both left hungry as the portions were not only not edible, but also fairly small. The water boy also stopped by and offered to turn on the heater if we get cold. Boy, I wish he was our waiter instead. For a supposedly Michelin-starred restaurant, I feel they really got this one wrong.

This shop differentiates itself from others in that they sell natural wines - organic and no additives or preservatives. I did notice with these wines that you don't quite get the same buzz as with other wine; on the flip side, you don't wake up feeling groggy the next day. The vibe inside is super cute and intimate. It's a converted house, and you can choose your seating in the various "common areas" of the house or the patio. The lighting is dark and intimate and they even have a disco ball spinning to some good tunes! We met owner Steve who was super welcoming - he and the entire staff at Light Years is super knowledgeable on their wines and are happy to make recommendations based on your preferences (and something that doesn't break the bank!). We were recommended a white pinot noir (crazy right?) for our first bottle, which was something unique and fun to try. While they did not have a chilled bottle available, they chilled a bottle off the shelf for us, but this did take about 15 minutes before we were served the wine. For our next bottle, we got a pinot noir - it was light and crisp, something I am not as used to in reds being primarily a cab sauv drinker myself. Our group really liked it and we didn't have any trouble killing the bottle. I appreciate having Light Years as a local neighborhood wine shop and will definitely be back to meet up with friends after a long day over some wine.

Cute place to hang out! My friend and I came to visit and just have a casual conversation. The…read moreplace is small as it's in a small house with street parking available. While we didn't initially order anything because we were so busy catching up, we did end up ordering 2 glasses of wine and the bread and butter to go with. The staff were patient and did remind us that we would need to order something in order to stay within the facilities any longer than the initial 1 hr we were already there for. the bread and butter were the usual but who doesn't like toasted bread that's crispy and fluffy on the inside?! Inside you can purchase bottles or just enjoy a glass at the bar or a few tables they have available inside. There's also 2 chairs outside the front that guest can sit as well. The staff are very knowledgeable with wine recommendations, I had asked for a red and was given 2 options that would be potentials. I went with a lighter red that wasn't too bitter at the end while my friend asked for recommendations similar to a Pino grigio. I'd definitely recommend this for a casual date night, probably only small groups since the place doesn't offer alot of seating but enough for groups of 2-4.
