We visited Simone on Sunset for my dads birthday celebration. Nice, tucked away location in Houston. They were able to accommodate our party of eight in their main dinning area. My first impression when walking in was chill and romantic, but as the night progressed you could see more guest and noise levels rose. They didn't have much of a menu, but their chicken samosas and margherita pizza was a great starter for the table. The location is more of a low key starter location before a real night out on the town. So grab you a couple of cocktails and enjoy the vibes. The ambience is lightly dimmed and intimate. There also are private rooms that can be reserved if you have larger parties. Will be sure to give them a try another day soon. read more

The worst wine bar that I have ever been too! The food was mediocre and the owner was so rude. Went here to celebrate my sister landing her first corporate role after college and the ended horribly. I booked this reservation so that I could you a $100 coupon that I received from Open Table because I have so many points but was unable to use the coupon because the server did not follow instructions and tried to change the entire bill with the coupon which did not work and I ended up having to pay the full bill. So after some back and forth the owner was rude and nasty and did not try to help whatsoever so I paid out and when I was trying to get my car from valet I was rushed by the owner demanding that I resign the check which I refused because he was so rude. He then instructed the valet to not give me my car keys and proceeded to call the police on me when I did nothing wrong! The police came and basically told him I did nothing wrong and did not commit a crime and that they can't force me to resign the check. He called the police with the hopes that they would harm me on his behalf! I am a frequent fine diner and I HAVE NEVER been treated so poorly for no reason! If I were you I'd avoid this shady wine bar and go somewhere better with better service and non mediocre food! Houston is a rough town but there are much better places to wine and dine!! read more

Great place for happy hour specials! On Thursday's, they had Happy Hour until 7: $20 house red and white bottles and $1 off some apps. For 2 people, we got a house red, the Truffle Parmesan popcorn, and the spinach and artichoke dip. The popcorn is huge and was a great thing to snack on! We sat outside, which was a very popular area. They have several patio chairs and tables out front of the restaurant. The patio has a very rustic feel, which I liked! The space is small and seems to be located in a revamped residential home. The parking situation is non-existent from what I've seen. You'll need to find street parking or Uber. Wine menu is fantastic - highly recommend the truffle popcorn and the cheese board as well. ($16 for the smallest size, pictured below). The lighting is low - there are two rooms filled with a mixture of normal tables, bar seats, couches and lounge chairs. Highly recommend the couches for intimate conversations! Abysmal service. Drinks were ok. Food was overpriced with small portions. Our server did a poor job explaining happy hour deals, disappeared for 30+ minutes at a time with a nearly empty restaurant. We were left shocked with the bill when the majority of the drinks ordered on happy hour were more expensive than what was initially explained to us. When people taking our plates asked if we needed anything, they would immediately say "oh you'll need to ask your waitress for that" if we said we needed something. Ambience outside is nice. Such a cute spot tucked away a few blocks from rice village. I went on a Wednesday for happy hour, and I had no idea it was ladies night! They had 25% off bottles of wine, $20 bottle of house wine, half off margarita pizzas and a few of their apps. I didn't get a chance to try their pizza or apps but I did try their cheeseboard, which was amazing for the price. I'd say the small is plenty for a group of 2-4. They also have a great selection of wine and cocktails. My friend tried an espresso martini and said it tasted like chocolate milk. Aside from that, everything else was great. Parking is limited. The edamame was flavorless as well (very little thought was put into this dish). The hummus was extremely sour, how do you mess up hummus? The samosas were cooked well but lacked flavor. We ordered a pizza but it took so long to arrive that we just cancelled it. Service: We came on a Saturday night and the whole restaurant had a delay in food because of a party going on. No one around us had food and the staff seemed highly unorganized. Vibe: The vibe was nice with paintings and dimmed lighting. I felt bad for the table in front of the wine bookshelf because anytime they needed wine they would have to reach over the people at that table. We felt bad for them. My recommendation is to drink here but not to eat here. They do well with drinks but food quality and service is poor. It's really just bad bar food. read more

I went for a mentor's birthday celebration. When I arrived I asked the manager did he have a coat rack. Very dismissively, he responded "NO!" The serve was atrociously slow and the decor dismal. I ordered a double Hennessey on rocks last night and the bar tender intentionally leaned over and blocked my view of her pouring it. The bartender poured significantly less than what I paid for. My friend said her blocking my view was obvious. I didn't point it out to her. I thought others could benefit from this review. A good bar should prioritize customer service and fairness, unfortunately this wasn't the case. Plenty of places serve great drinks without skimping on portions. Sadly, our first experience wasn't so great. We ordered a couple cocktails once we were seated and it took about 25 minutes or so to get our drinks... for a place so small we didn't expect it to take that long. My husband and I decided to check this place out while we were doing a staycation last weekend. We showed up just after they opened and enjoyed about an hour of feeling like we're in our own private restaurant. The food was surprisingly good. We got the chicken lollipops and two different types of pizza: smoked duck & beef and jalapenos. So so good. Service was amazing. Will definitely be back. Been here on several occasions and it's always a relaxed and nice time. They have very limited lot parking, so you'll have to find it along the street. You can sit anywhere you'd like, and there's a front patio, middle room, and a back room that is more dimly lit. There are tables and couches. Had an absolutely fantastic meal with a group of 8 Saturday night. I say group of 8 to emphasize how great the service was, even with a larger group. We all ordered several different appetizers to share, and pass around. We tried several items, such as the chicken lolipops, calamari, charcuterie board, pizza, goat cheese dip, meatballs, and spinach dip. Everything was really delicious, well portioned, and priced right. The only one I would probably pass on, is the spinach dip. It was just a little bland for me, heavy spinach, and not creamy enough. We also tried several of the cocktails, such as the pepino diablo, which was perfectly spicy while also refreshing with the cucumber. The cuban majito was delicious, and pretty popular with the party. As mentioned in the beginning, the service was really a highlight as well. The server kept up, no problem and kept track of separate checks for us. The bus service was also great, keeping the tables clean, wiping them down for us before sitting, and setting up the heater outside as it was a bit cool. Without a doubt, I would hit this place again. BTW, complimentary valet was a plus. read more

It has a lovely patio, hence the second star, but there are lots of places in Houston with lovely patios. Visit one of those, cause this place sucks. The list of awful things... (1) My wine came out in a glass poured so full that it was spilling over the sides as it was served to me. If you're gonna call yourself a wine bar, at least get some decent wine glasses. (2) The waitress barely paid attention to us. We had to flag her down repeatedly to make our orders. (3) the food was bad. I had reservations for 8 and when I entered there was no hostess to be found. After waiting a couple minutes there I went to the bar to figure out how we were going to get seated. Once we were finally seated on the patio which is nice and chill, we ordered some drink and samosas. That was our last time see the waitress. She never came back to check in us or bring us the check. We had to stop someone on staff to bring us our check. I took one bite of the samosas after signing e bill and it taste more like a chicken egg roll than a samosa.
