    Cali Chicken Chop

I love the vibes upstairs! The cali chicken chop salad was perfect! Tons of chicken, perfectly dressed. It also had a great crunch to it. Will come back to get it again and again.

Didn't know of this place until we went here for a group dinner. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to start, and each ordered some wine. Wine pricing is fair, with a good selection, and price points (on the lower end). Half-pours available! Personally, I wish there was more than just one Riesling. The wood-fired cauliflower, salumi & cheese board, and truffled vineyard fries were all excellent choices. The daylight spritz mocktail was good as well. For my main, I ordered a house salad to start and a Double Cabernet Burger. The house salad was amazingly good, one of the best I've had in recent memory. The portion size and price at $9 was incredible. Loved the candied walnuts, sliced strawberries, peppered pecorino, and the citrus-honey vinaigrette. The burger was a little disappointing in comparison. While I love a good double patty, and potato buns, it was honestly just too messy to eat, and the buns could not hold up well against the fairly saucy/smothered patties and toppings. Staff were friendly, and water was provided fairly quickly. Restrooms were nice. Parking was easy, the garage leads right up to the upper floor of the restaurant. First 2 hours free, and even the next hour was pretty cheap! Easily a top happy hour spot in the Rice Village/West U area!

We didn't try the wines but the food was wonderful. Flavors were spot on and service was good. We loved the creste di gallo. This is a great place for wine lovers looking to unwind with a glass after work. We sat at the bar during happy hour. The HH menu is limited, so this may not be the best spot if you're wanting to have a variety to choose from. They have a big selection of wines and the servers are very knowledgeable, perfect for those that are still looking for their favorite type of wine. In addition to enjoying the house red, we got the burrata and the burger. The burger was great! You could taste the Cabernet in the patty. The burrata was also good, simple and light. If you work in the med center, pic this place as your next meeting spot!

60 vines is a really nice place to visit solo or with your date. The ambience itself is really warm cozy a tad bit cold, but still give relaxation vibes. The service is really good as far as engagement however we had a few hiccups with my food, but I won't name them since the manager rectified everything. I had their pasta their brussels sprouts and I believe it was like a bruschetta toast. I may be way off but scroll through my pictures and you'll see everything that I ate. The wine itself was a nine out of 10 at least the ones that I chose. I will definitely be coming back here for more wine tasting, and I hope to try even more items. I give this place four stars and maybe next time they earn another one

I'm actually sad to leave this review because I've come here many times and always had a positive experience. I have always loved the ambiance and their pizzas! Unfortunately when I came here a few weeks ago for my birthday celebration (on a Wednesday for lunch) and I got food poisoning from undercooked chicken. I knew I should have just spit it out but I was hoping I was wrong about it being undercooked. We got the grilled chicken sandwich and a Margherita pizza. We added mushrooms and grilled chicken to the pizza as well. I think the chicken in the sandwich was undercooked. The chicken on the pizza may have been okay, but I'm not sure. I mentioned earlier that we came on a weekday during lunch time when there were barely any other people there and it wasn't busy at all. I'm not sure what could have caused them to not cook the chicken properly. Within 1-2 hours of eating here, I had horrible stomach pain and had to go to the restroom constantly. Definitely a horrible way to celebrate my birthday. However, I did want to mention that our server was fantastic and even got me a birthday dessert to celebrate my birthday. She was super helpful and even explained their upcoming events. After getting food poisoning from the chicken, I'm too traumatized to go back. We also got the hummus, which was yummy. I guess maybe their veggie items are okay but I'm definitely very skeptical about their meats. The wine and potatoes photos are from a different time when I went.

Found this gem on Yelp and enjoyed a nice business dinner. Brittany was a friendly server who provided suggestions on their vast Wine selection. We enjoyed hummus for the appetizer which was fresh, and they brought out veggies in addition to pita. For the mains, I enjoyed the rainbow trout, which was a good size portion served with lentils and a delicious coconut curry sauce. My client enjoyed the chicken, which was also very tasty. Look forward to coming back again and trying the pizza.

Very cute casual spot for brunch/dinner in Rice Village. The upstairs patio area has a great and naturally bright ambiance, really nice for brunch when the weather allows. Truffle fries were the best I've ever had, very strong truffle flavor. And the margherita pizza had the thinnest crust I've ever seen on a pizza in the best way. Our server was also very kind and attentive, would definitely revisit

You could imagine my surprise on how excited i was to find a location in Houston. I immediately order the Brussels as I have been getting disappointed with them at other locations. These brussels sprouts were crispy flavorful and spicy. Just how I remembered them being sixty vines first opened. I love how they have a dinner seated area downstairs and a second level much like an atrium that is super spacious and has floor ceiling windows. It brings so much light to the room. This location is really great for being able to host events or large parties and still have a functional dining room for the business. The bartenders were OK. We did sit by the bar where the wine spigots were. I really did enjoy the artwork as labels for the wines. Wood fire brick oven still phenomenal pizza was really really good and crispy. I recommend 10 out of 10.

We went for a celebration at like 3 pm on a Friday, so it was relatively empty. We really enjoyed the vibes and our waiter was very caring and attentive. When he heard it was a celebration, he gave us free dessert. The steak wasn't our favorite and we probably wouldn't order it again. But the pasta was our favorite dish as well as the dessert. The mocktails and cocktails were super yummy and kept the vibes going.

Came here for brunch on a Saturday after the Boot Walk. It was surprisingly pretty empty, except for a few other boot walk participants. We decided to dine upstairs since we were told there would be a DJ later. Upstairs is definitely more lively than downstairs and it filled up before long. I had their tortilla de patatas which was cooked well, but I personally prefer a regular omelette over a Spanish style one. I also had their French toast which was more like a custard than toast. I wasn't really feeling my brunch that much, however, I did sample their orange morning bread and that was really good! I think this place is ok, I think I just didn't choose the right options. I've been to their Dallas location before, and at one point it was my favorite brunch spot (until they changed their menu). I don't think this location will ever reach that peak for me, but it's decent and far quicker to get a table rather than waiting in line outside at Black Walnut down the street.

I had the chance to dine here twice during my stay, and overall it was a great experience. The wine selection was amazing--plenty of excellent choices to pair with the meal. The service was a bit slow at times, but the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made up for it. The real standout was the Brussels sprouts stole the show. I ordered the tri-tip each time; while it had great flavor, it was undercooked compared to what I requested on both visits.

A nicer upscale restaurant for sure, but not in an intimidating way, to me. I came for a birthday and I think that this is a great place for celebrations or a nicer dinner date maybe. The pasta portions did seem really big. The fig and prosciutto pizza was really good, but nothing like crazy, it's exactly was it say it is. I wish there was a bit more pull to the cheese/sauce, it kinda felt like eating a flat bread. The crisp was good as well a nice mix that all worked pretty good together. There's plenty of surrounding parking too and the service was good. They were super helpful and attentive, even w our large group.

Ask the Community - Sixty Vines

Is it realistic to dine at 6 pm on a Thursday before a 7:30 Main Street Theater show at 7:30?

How loud is it? Hoping to have a casual business meeting lunch

It seems louder on the top level than the lower level to me but definitely a place you could have a meeting.

Do they accept walk in or do we have to make a reservation?

    They accept walk in.

    What's parking like?

There is meter parking towards the front of the restaurant for easy access but you have to pay a few dollars for it. Otherwise, there is validated garage parking that's few short walking minutes away

Is there anything more corny than when a restaurant has one gluten free option and one vegan option and they are the same dish?

Ah I see what you did there, corny, corn, vegan I get it! Try asking your server if any modifications can be made to other dishes in order to make them vegan or gluten free.

Does Sixty Vines have a private room?

Yes. I attended a work lunch meeting in the private room in the back.

Do they serve cocktails or beer ? Or is it only wine?

They have ciders and brews but don't think they serve any cocktails.

Do they serve brunch on Fridays?

    Nope.

Is there Happy hour? Didn't see anything on website and yet it keeps coming up online for it.

I have been several times and have never seen a happy hour

    Is this teenager friendly?

    Yes

Do they have live music? If so, when?

No, not that I have ever seen.

Do they have gluten free options?

There's GF flat bread, pizza crust, pasta and sandwich buns

No one speaks about the cost....there is no $$ code to help with the absence of price on the menu available on line. Where might I see the costs of that very compelling menu?

You can look at the menu photos on Yelp!

Our friend booked a reservation and was able to add a fourth person without any issues. It's on Westheimer where all the restaurants and shops are, so it's pretty busy. You can either park on the street or in the neighborhood behind. There's bar, small table and booth seating available. One of our friends who arrived early got to switch us to a booth since we'd have a few plates to share for the four of us. My friend and I shared the NA red sangria. I liked that there was a NA option for that, and you can choose either red or white. We ordered a pitcher since we were sharing. It was delicious and refreshing. I think I had about 3 wine glasses of it. Our group shared the red fish à la plancha, patatas bravas, spinach frittata, olive oil pancakes and bacon-wrapped dates. Some of the dishes were bigger than others. Tapas is meant to be small plates, and they were, but it's a little overpriced. For example, the red fish was $15.50 for maybe 2 oz of fish. The stack of olive oil pancakes were small and thin for $8.50. If you're sharing, it's not that much food. I was going to order another personal stack of olive oil pancakes because that cinnamon butter was so good! I decided not to after I let all of what we ordered and drank settle for a bit after. The valdeon whipped blue cheese under the bacon-wrapped dates didn't taste very good and seemed grainy to me. It was my least favorite. The standouts for me were the olive oil pancakes, spinach frittata that was actually loaded with more veggies and bell peppers and the patatas bravas which was piled with potatoes topped with mayo that melted down and looked almost like melted cheese on top. It's a fun place for friends to gather or a cute date spot. You may or may not be hungry after depending what you order. There are larger plates/entrees like paella and branzino to share.

I've had my fair share of Paulie's but never had the chance to come to Camerata...until now. I had been missing out for so long! We journeyed from white to red wines throughout the night. We started out with the Babylonstoren, a chenin blanc from South Africa. We then moved into pink (rose) with the Ana Beirut - a blend of cab sauv, syrah, and tempranillo grapes with a bit of skin contact to give the wine the pink color. Lastly we ordered the Guelbenzu - a red blend of tempranillo, cab sauv, syrah, and graciano. This full-bodied red was the absolute fan favorite of the table. Food options are on the light side: meat & cheese boards, bread, and small bites. We started out with the warm bread - while it's normally served with butter, there's an option to switch that out with olive oil & herbs which is what we did. We then went for the meat & cheese platter. We couldn't decide on which meats or cheeses, so we did the option of ordering all 8! This came with 4 delicious meats and 4 tasty cheeses (from Houston Dairymaids), also with crispy fava beans, olives, pickles, and bread. This was a good amount for our group of 4 to share. Elena was our server and she was absolutely OUTSTANDING. She vibed with us throughout the night and made sure that we were well-taken care of. I loved her energy along with her vast knowledge of wines. We got plenty of good recommendations from her during our time there. I'm super sad that Houston will be losing this gem permanently at the end of the year (and even more sad that I only discovered it in the last month of its existence). Parking is a bit difficult, but after a bit of circling we were able to find a spot and make our way in what looked like the back entrance. It was very low key, and despite the sign, the door seemed almost hidden in that back little corner. The staff seemed to have a bit of a hipster vibe-- not unexpected given the Montrose area-- but were very friendly. They offered suggestions, but let us go with what we wanted to try. There's a food menu along with the drinks, but we were heading to the restaurant next door, so we passed on grabbing food. We ended up going with a couple of glasses of red and a couple of the specialty chocolates. My wife loved her salted caramel chocolate. I enjoyed my peppermint chocolate. For the glasses of wine, I've got better at home for bottles the same price as those glasses. My wife really enjoyed the vibe, but even if this place wasn't about to close down, I'm not sure I'd be coming back here often. It's just too hard to park.

I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. I will always treasure and remember Vinology and plan to support the business more in the future. Hats off to the folks who own and run this wine establishment.

It took over what was literally the WORST Jamba Juice kiosk ever that always made me late to class when I was still in school. This was a much needed improvement, because you can't get turnt up on a smoothie no matter how hard your blessed little heart tries. Even the spelling of the Whole Foods Megacorp's 95th in-store bar will get you a little turnt up, either from sheer whimsy or out of college-educated just plain knowing better how certain things are spelled and how certain things are not spelled unless they are as full of shit as a Christmas turkey. The difference is whether you are on your first or seventh pint moreso than whether you skipped second breakfast and elevenses before showing up here in all of your splendor. Mondays are pizza/pint night for $5 between 6-8pm. Local Brew Fridays are $3 pints between 3-6pm. Write that one down. Also according to the internets, the last Thursday of the month is Zoo Beats Day so between 6-8pm some spare change marches into the coffers of the Houston Zoo's conservation efforts. If you would not drink for the critters then you are a very bad man. Get my hat Felicia, we're drinking for three.

They have happy hour, which sadly ends too early to really consider it "happy." (HH is Mon-Thu 2-5pm). They have a food menu of cheese plates and pizzas, or you can build your own pizza for $8. I created a pretty damn good pizza with chicken, broccolini and artichokes on wheat crust - da bomb. The server even mentioned she was gonna make one of her own. Weekly Specials: ::Mon 6-8pm: Slice of 'za and pint of beer for $5 :: Wed: $3 select pints, $4 select wines by the glass; HH food specials 6-8pm :: Fri: $3 local pints 3-6 pm :: Sun: $3 mimosas noon-2pm The Kirbside Bar opens at 11 am.

It just felt warm and inviting. We were attended to by JD who guided through the menu. The service was wonderful and attentive. This is a place I will return to anytime I'm in Houston.!! We were lucky to find parking on the street across the entrance. We strongly recommend reservations.

He ended up being one of the best aspects of our experience that evening. Our waitress wasn't nearly as good. We started by asking for ice in the water from the waitress since they just give you room temp water. After 10 mins of seeing her serve other tables and ignoring our request, we then figured the water boy would make it happen...and sure enough he did. We then ordered the grilled oysters, which are very lightly cooked, almost seemingly steamed more than anything, but they were very good regardless of the cooking method with the sauces and garnishes and pickle juice added. Next up was ordering the entrees. The menu here is a little strange with numerous vegan choices with strange titles and only a few items with protein. To top it off, there are not many choices period. The waitress explained that the left side is basically the apps, and the right side is basically the entrees. I knew I wanted to try the wagyu flat iron steak which is priced pretty high here, compared to other wagyu flat irons I've had at other restaurants across the US. We couldn't really decide on a 2nd main dish then the waitress mentioned the off the menu special which was a scallop pasta so we picked that thinking it sounded delicious. The entrees come out about 15 mins later, and we take our first bites and we both thought, oh no, if we share the other person across from me isn't going to like this dish because it's too salty. I tried the steak first and noticed the sauce being extra salty, then I tried the pasta and the pasta was way worse, but the scallops didn't seem to be affected. We immediately told the waitress the next time she stopped by....and she just said okay, and walked away. I figured she would go get the manager....but nope...she just kept on serving other tables. At this point we thought to ourselves only the oyster app was decent.....and no reason to look at the dessert menu since we had already spent over $100 on food we could hardly eat. Sure enough, the waitress stops by a 2nd time and asks if we'd like to see the dessert menu. I couldn't leave fast enough and told her we'll skip. Needless to say we both left hungry as the portions were not only not edible, but also fairly small. The water boy also stopped by and offered to turn on the heater if we get cold. Boy, I wish he was our waiter instead. For a supposedly Michelin-starred restaurant, I feel they really got this one wrong.

This shop differentiates itself from others in that they sell natural wines - organic and no additives or preservatives. I did notice with these wines that you don't quite get the same buzz as with other wine; on the flip side, you don't wake up feeling groggy the next day. The vibe inside is super cute and intimate. It's a converted house, and you can choose your seating in the various "common areas" of the house or the patio. The lighting is dark and intimate and they even have a disco ball spinning to some good tunes! We met owner Steve who was super welcoming - he and the entire staff at Light Years is super knowledgeable on their wines and are happy to make recommendations based on your preferences (and something that doesn't break the bank!). We were recommended a white pinot noir (crazy right?) for our first bottle, which was something unique and fun to try. While they did not have a chilled bottle available, they chilled a bottle off the shelf for us, but this did take about 15 minutes before we were served the wine. For our next bottle, we got a pinot noir - it was light and crisp, something I am not as used to in reds being primarily a cab sauv drinker myself. Our group really liked it and we didn't have any trouble killing the bottle. I appreciate having Light Years as a local neighborhood wine shop and will definitely be back to meet up with friends after a long day over some wine.

While we didn't initially order anything because we were so busy catching up, we did end up ordering 2 glasses of wine and the bread and butter to go with. The staff were patient and did remind us that we would need to order something in order to stay within the facilities any longer than the initial 1 hr we were already there for. the bread and butter were the usual but who doesn't like toasted bread that's crispy and fluffy on the inside?! Inside you can purchase bottles or just enjoy a glass at the bar or a few tables they have available inside. There's also 2 chairs outside the front that guest can sit as well. The staff are very knowledgeable with wine recommendations, I had asked for a red and was given 2 options that would be potentials. I went with a lighter red that wasn't too bitter at the end while my friend asked for recommendations similar to a Pino grigio. I'd definitely recommend this for a casual date night, probably only small groups since the place doesn't offer alot of seating but enough for groups of 2-4.
